The Big Shut Down (Semi Trucks) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:27

The Big Shut Down (Semi Trucks). In 1973 a truck driver named named J.W. Edwards shut his semi truck down on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania. His handle on the C.B. Radio was "River Rat". This would be the first time that the American Trucker got a national voice. Frustrated with an oil embargo Edwards had enough. With diesel jacked high in price and sanctions set on fuel supplies, he was sick of barley making it from fuel stop to fuel stop. Running out of fuel, he decided to shut down right there and hop on his C.B. Radio. With in a day, 10 states were seeing protests and gridlock on the interstates and major highways. Along with the embargo, there was a national push to limit long haul truck drivers to 55mph. This would mean more frustrations and less pay for the truckers. For the most part the protests were deemed peaceful. All but one state, Ohio, was relatively calm. Set state of Ohio however, called for the national guard to remove truckers from picketing and they used tear gas to do it. Never before and since then has there ever been a united force of truckers that effected Americas highways the way this time period did. Truckers yesterday and today United We Stand Divided We Fall Trucker back then used the C.B. Radio for most of their communication. In just one day, their protests were nationally known throughout the community of trucking. They stuck together and were heard loud and clear. Today, it's hard to get two truckers to agree. With social media and politics dividing America, we seem to have forgotten that old saying that we were raised with, "United we Stand, Divided we Fall". The government knows this and that is why you never hear this quote. We are a divided nation and that will always help their cause. Florida Man Naked on A Semi Truck A Florida man was seen running onto a lowboy semi truck this past week. During stopped traffic, the unidentified man was seen climbing onto a big rig hoping for a ride. Police caught up to him and took him to a hospital to be mentally evaluated. * National Carriers * Drivewyze for Anrdoid users* Drivewyze for Apple users* Driving-Tests Guarantees you will pass you CDL Test* Kanions Free Break Even Calculator Download* Carter Lumber Hiring Local Class A and Class B Drivers* Something’s Happening In the Trucking Industry* Safety Director Fired at Trucking Company TalkCDL Trucking Podcast Join us for a recording and be heard on the largest trucking podcast in the world.  Something’s Happening In the Trucking Industry | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:29

Something's Happening In the Trucking Industry. The perfect storm is happening right now in trucking. Freight rates are down, fuel prices are up not to mention the supply shortages. On top of all that, brokers are getting rich. A while back, truck drivers and assembly line workers, were paid to stay home. While they were sitting at home, a void was created. During this void, greedy men stepped in to seize opportunity while freight rates were at an all time high. Fuel was cheap and life was good. Flash forward 2 years and the truckers that sat home for this period, were coming back. Fuel was climbing at record highs at a crazy fast pace. Rates went down and supply shortages created what we are living today. Brokers do not care whether a truck driver makes money or not. They will off the freight as low as they can get it. Mix this all up with everything else and you have the perfect storm. It does not appear to be sunny up ahead either. * National Carriers* Carter Lumber* Driving - TestGuaranteed to Pass your CDL Test* DriveWyze for IOS* DriveWyze for Android* Stay Away From Cheap Trucking CompaniesWhen Drivers Burn Trucking Companies Something's Happening In the Trucking Industry

 What Happened On Interstate 10 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:12

What Happened On Interstate 10. This past week on Wednesday 6/15/2022 we were traveling east on Interstate 10 in Florida. A digital sign warned motorists of an accident 26 miles ahead. It also said the right lane would be closed. When we arrived to the scene which was mile marker 111. We noticed a tractor trailer off the road laying on its side. Just ahead on the left side, another tractor trailer laid on its side also. We tried all week to find out about this accident. Checked the news outlets. We searched the Internet. We combed everything we could and still no answer. Not one word out there about this accident. How odd is that? Not one but two rigs flipped on their sides in the same area and not one report about it? If you have information about this accident please notify us at Troy@TalkCDL.com. We hope the drivers survived and are doing alright. Bad times For Owner Operators You heard that right, Owner operators are in much trouble. For the past two years people have been buying up trucks at high prices, trying to capitalize on the high freight rates. Until the last couple months, many have been making huge amounts of money hauling freight on the spot market. But that is over now and banks are seeing many repos. We the high price of fuel and the freight rates heading south. Many men and women are doing an about face from being an owner to running as a company driver. Rates have gone from $4 to $5 per mile to just over $2 per mile. With fuel as high as it is $2 per mile is barely surviving. * National Carriers* Carter Lumber Hiring Local Drivers Class A and Class B* Driving-Tests Guarantees you will pass your CDL * Drivewyze iPhone Users* Drivewyze Android Users* Kamion Free Break Even Calculator* When Drivers Burn Trucking Companies* Stay Away From Cheap Trucking Companies* Trucking Companies Not To Work For What Happened On Interstate 10

Safety Director Fired at Trucking Company | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:58

Safety Director Fired at Trucking Company. This past week a safety director at a mid-size carrier, got the boot! Let call him Bob. Bob thought he was all set and was just an ornery man when it came to the operations manager. Unfortunately for Bob, the ops guy was more valued than Bob. When working anywhere, one should know their value. Especially if your time at the workplace is much much shorter than the guy you are pissing off. Bob was also in charge of hiring. Each time a driver quit his job, the operations manager would blame Bob. Bob, however, would respond in a "not so nice way". Emails, verbally and even behind the ops guy's back. Eventually this would catch up to Bob. Safety Week is coming in July Things to know before you venture into National Safety week this July. The D.O.T. will be out in full force. Pulling over not only professional truck drivers but also non-professional ordinary car drivers. They will be looking for speeders and aggressive drivers. This will take place July 10th thru the 16th. They also will be puling motorist over for following too close, improper lane change, drunk driving and drugged driving. This is serious and there will be little to no chance of getting out of any fine, once pulled over.  Tragedy After Trucker Failed To Move Over | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:39

Tragedy After Trucker Failed To Move Over. The move over law is designed to protect emergency personnel from getting hurt on the side of a road. Heavy fines and a mark on your driving record could be the results of not moving over. Recently a trooper in New Hampshire was killed when a truck driver failed to move over. Jay Paul Medicos, 43, has been charged with negligent homicide and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, killing 44-year-old state police Staff Sgt. Jesse Sherrill on Oct. 28, 2021.  State police allege Medeiros failed to obey 2 warnings prior to the crash. He also failed to move over for the trooper striking the cruise he was in. The trooper was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Medeiros allegedly ingested marijuana 3 days prior to the crash. They also allege he was storing other marijuana in his semi truck. * NCI Hiring Student Drivers* Carter Lumber hiring local Class A & Class B drivers, home every day!* Drivewyze* Pass Your CDL Guaranteed * JJ Keller The Truckers Secretary* Kamions Free Break Even Calculator* Stay Away From Cheap Trucking Companies Tragedy After Trucker Failed To Move Over

Important Info For Truckers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:43

Important Info For Truckers. If you are an Owner Operator or a Lease Purchase Driver, this podcast is for you. Right now most owners are suffering from the high cost of fuel and declining freight rates. Freight rates have been plummeting for the last 5 weeks and it is not showing signs of recovery. With the influx of drivers in the industry the demand for carriers to haul freight has made rates more competitive. The bargaining power has shifted from carrier to shipper. The price of fuel has also effected the trucking industry in a bad way. Between the dropping rates and the high cost of fuel, it has created a perfect storm if you will. The question is, how can we combat this situation? If you are not getting a surcharge then you are getting ripped off. Here is how a surcharge works. The DOE (Department of Energy has set the mark at $1.20 per gallon a long time ago. What this means is, for every .06 cent above $1.20 a driver is suppose to get .01cpm surcharge. For example, the average gallon of fuel is about $6.00. If you subtract $1.20 from 6.00 you have $4.80 left. You then .06 into 4.80 and you get .80cpm surcharge. Which means if a driver ran 3000 miles, he should get an additional $2400 for a surcharge check. This should be separate from his pay. The bottom line, if you are not getting a surcharge that you are able to see, you are being ripped off. Without a surcharge, it is very hard to make big profits. * NCI hiring lease purchase drivers* Carter Lumber hiring Class A & Class B Local Drivers* Download Kamions Free Break Even Calculator here* Pass Your CDL Test Guaranteed * JJ Keller the Truckers Secretary* DriveWyze* Trucking Company With A Stinky Truck

Stay Away From Cheap Trucking Companies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:43

Stay Away From Cheap Trucking Companies. A report coming from California this week blames truck drivers for a higher percent of accidents than previous reports. The report says that truck drivers attribute to over 40% of "at fault" accidents on the highways. Previous articles from various groups have truck drivers at a much lower rate. In most reports, it is found that over 80% of all "at fault' accidents are caused by the driver of the 4 wheeled vehicle. This is the first report of its kind that puts a bigger blame on the trucker. A state police ride along trooper was quoted as saying "the new generation of truck drivers seemed to be behind the wheel of most "at fault" truck driver accidents. On ly time will tell but for now, tune into TalkCDL's latest podcast and hear their spin on this matter. Jake Break Woes A township in New Jersey voted unanimously to prohibit the use of engine breaks in their city limits. Haledon, New Jersey is looking to stifle truck traffic noise by instilling a law that prohibits the use of Jake breaks. I have to wonder if there are hills surrounding the entrances of this town. I also have to wonder if this will cause a problem hindering semi trucks from slowing down properly.  Things You Should Know About Speed Limiters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:56

Things You Should Know About Speed Limiters. The FMCSA is moving forward with speed limiters. This will include all vehicle with a gross weight of 26,000 pounds or more. The proposed speed will be either 60, 65 or 68mph. Many advocates have stated that speed limiters are a danger. Citing that split speeds cause people to interact more and thus increasing the odds of an accident. For example. When one vehicle is moving ten mile per hour faster than another. He/she if forced to make more moves than others. Please write in and tell us your thoughts on this matter. Let us know if you agree with the FMCSA or are against the ruling. Explain to us what you feel should be done about this argument. Two Semi Trucks hit the same bridge an hour apart In Joliet IL this past Friday. Not one but two tractor-trailers hit the same exact bridge. At 5.30 AM the first semi truck wedged itself under the bridge. At 6.30AM, an hour later, another semi truck hit the bridge in the left lane. This editors advice to drivers? If you see a bridge and are unsure of the height, don't move forward. Now, if you are approaching and there is another semi-truck already stuck under the bridge. Dont try going under it.  When Drivers Burn Trucking Companies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:20

When Drivers Burn Trucking Companies. Recently a trucker filled out several applications for employment. The problem is, he accepted the job from all of them. When it came time for orientation, he failed to show up for every one of them. This same driver is now black listed by many companies. Dont make the same mistake. Each and every company that he burned, will never give him another chance. Because they all communicated with each other and are in cahoots. If you apply with several trucking companies, do not commit to more than one company. Communicate with each one and tell them your plans. You will gain more respect with honesty and you will be invited to join the company the next time you apply. More and more companies are communicating with each other and refusing to hire drivers that burn other companies. Trucking Scams are every where Recently, a woman was made to pay back 4.7 million dollars for her part in an accident scam involving semi trucks. The woman from Louisiana was made to pay back the money that she and others sued bug trucking companies for over falsified accidents. The scam involves a four wheeled vehicle getting into an accident with a tractor-trailer, intentionally. They then claim the semi driver was at fault. Because of the David/Goliath analogy, the jury normally will side with the "supposed" victim. If a car or pick-up truck cuts you off in a semi truck and starts to break check you. Pull over immediately and get away from them. Their intention is to be struck by you. Do not ride their bumper and do not lose your temper. This is how the scam starts. * NCI Hiring Lease Purchase Drivers* JJ Keller the Truckers Secretary * Driving-Tests.org Guaranteed to Pass your CDL Test* Carter Lumber hiring Local Class A and Class B Drivers Home Every Day* DriveWyze lets you bypass scales.
