States with the rudest drivers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:18

STATES WITH THE RUDEST DRIVERS. This week on TalkCDL Trucking Podcast we discussed the top 10 states with the rudest drivers. These were based on drivers that failed to yield, failed to stop at a stop sign and most of the very preventable tickets one gets when blatantly ignoring a traffic sign. Which state was number one? Well Virginia of course, but you will have to watch the latest podcast by TalkCDL to hear the rest of the list. Why hasn't there been any new trucking shows BJ and the Bear, White Line Fever, Smokey and the Bandit and many other shows that depicted the American trucker but none in the last three decades. Whats the deal? With the driver shortage, Troy has called on Hollywood to bring back or make some new shows up about the American truck driver. Showing life on the road in a big rig could inspire some young men to get their CDL and take to the open road. We thought his suggestion was a valid one. By all means, it has been decades since BJ McKay and his best friend bear". So if anyone from Hollywood is reading this, please make a trucking show, preferably a sitcom. Depression in truckers Depression in truckers is a real thing. According to the CDC, 18.5 percent of adults have suffered from some form of depression. There are roughly 3.5 million truckers in the United Staes, and that calculates to roughly 647,000 depressed truckers. Concentra has an article on how to prevent depression in truckers. According to the article, Long periods on the road, too much time away from loved ones and the general dangers on the road all play a part in trucker depression. States with the rudest drivers. TalkCDL Trucking Podcast Thank you to everyone that writes in with questions and comments. We read every single one of them. You have humbled us with your kind words. Thank you to all those that send videos and pictures of life on the road. We are always trying to put them on the Facebook or YouTube page. Woth out you the viewer we would have nothing, so cheers to all of you that support TalkCDL trucking Podcast.

Ripping off your own company | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:39

RIPPING OFF YOUR OWN COMPANY. There is a growing rate of drivers that are stealing from their own company. Some are doing whats called "Padding the fuel card"! The way the scam works is, a driver finds a small truck stop that will work the scam with them. The clerk behind the counter runs an extra amount of cash on the card (which never goes in the tank) and then they split to booty. But beware drivers, sooner or later your company will figure it out, they always do. Either your fuel mileage is not adding up or something subtle will catch someones eye back at the terminal. Once caught, you will soon learn that the couple of dollars is not worth your career. Finding another carrier to hire you once you have been marked down as a thief at a trucking company, will be next to impossible. Volvo on strike again It has been over ten years since Volvo has had a strike. Recently thousands of union worker walked out when a deal was not met. Volvo offered more incentive but apparently it was not good enough. Negotiations are suppose to resume April 26th, 2022. This not only hurts Volvo but it also hurts suppliers that produce product needed for the assembly line itself. In this writer's opinion, Volvo should raise the workers to a top standard in the industry, after all the cost of the rigs are going up along with profit and why not pass that onto the worker. Another thing to consider is, last year many places were shut down due to covid 19, which means production is behind. With that being said, Volvo runs the risk of losing customers that are desperately seeking to increase their fleets.  Trucking Back In The Day | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 32:07

TRUCKING BACK IN THE DAY. There was a time when trucking meant something to everyone at every trucking company. When a new employee was hired, they were required to go on a trip with a trucker. The plan was to make everyone appreciate what the trucker had to go through on a daily basis. If you never drove a big truck before, you were going to know how is felt to be a truck driver, before becoming an employee in the office. This helped most employees, new to trucking, understand what it was like to be away from home and living inside a tractor-trailer. It also help each individual to see what it was like to command a semi truck while traffic was aggressive and even in bad weather. You learned the frustrations and the let downs of the every day operations of transporting freight. You developed a repeat for the truck driver and therefore you worked better with all truckers if you were a new dispatcher, manager or even a secretary. either way this was required at many trucking companies and we are being told that those carriers had less problems. Tine in and hear what TalkCDL trucking Podcast had to say about this topic. Trucker Forced to work for a Trucking Company TalkCDL had an exclusive interview recently with an undisclosed truck driver. We were told a story about a trucker that had developed a health issue. The driver was hospitalized and had not returned to work with in 15 days, so the company automatically terminated the driver, which in turn canceled his health insurance. When the driver was released from the hospital, a few weeks later he received a hospital bill of over 93, 000 dollars. He called the insurance company and was told there was nothing they could do about it. He then received a phone call from the carrier that terminated him. They said if he would come back and work for them they would make his insurance retroactive and then he would be covered. This was a plot to keep the trucker working for them. Tune in and hear the results of this conversation. Truck Driver Threatened by Carrier to Stay Recently a trucking company tried to stop a driver from quitting their company by threatening the driver. Trucker (lets call him Joe) Joe told TalkCDL that he tried to quit the company and in return the company told him they were going to report the rented trailers stolen. Tune into this conversation on this weeks episode of "Trucking Back In The Day". 75 Chrome Shop Truck Show TalkCDL will be at the 75 Chrome Shop April 23rd through the 25th. TWO TRUCKING DUI STORIES. In Nevada a Trucker received 2 DUI's in just 12 days. The worse part of this story, is, That the truck driver was in a commercial vehicle, both times. Julio Perea Ayala a Class CDL holder was arrested twice for a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated), of which he was behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle. Ayala was declared an imminent threat to the public by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). He was served an order March 26th that ordered him to cease and desist from operating any commercial vehicle in interstate commerce. A second story appeared this week. Two DUI Trucking Stories. TalkCDL obtained a story of a commercial truck driver that has received 5 DWI's in his lifetime. The driver writes, " I have obtained my Class A CDL and am seeking employment. He asks if there is a chance he will get a job and if anyone knows of a carrier that would give him a chance? Trucking schools are famous for taking money from people that have the dream of becoming a trucker, even when they know the person most likely will never get a job as a truck driver. Johnny Acid and Troy talked in detail of the driver on the show. Please tune in to TalkCDL Trucking Podcast to hear what they had to say. Johnny Acid going Over-The Road Johnny Acid is going over the road. Thats right, Johnny has decided to put his time on the open road as an OTR trucker. Troy might be joining him for a couple trips, so be on the look-out for these two crazy guys, coming to a truck stop near you.  Truckers becoming human traffic | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:46

TRUCKERS BECOMING HUMAN TRAFFIC. In a recent article by Freightwaves, they ran a report in a trucker that was lured from a foreign country to work in the USA. Once here the trucker alleges he was forced to work illegal hours, ultimately risking his safety and others not he road. The trucker also stated that he was lured with promises of big paychecks but was only paid a fraction of what he was told he would receive. This type of "human trafficking" is different than the "norm", being a person is not held against their will but with other tactics. Human beings are held more by threat than a locked room. The drivers that are conned into coming to the United States are held here based on the threat of not knowing the language. They live in their rig and have no where to go if they are terminated from the job. This alone scares a man into complying with their employers.  Johnny Acid & Married to a Trucker | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:16

JOHNNY ACID & MARRIED TO A TRUCKER. We sat down with Johnny Acid this week to talk about his search for a new job. Johnny was suppose to be hired by a very popular tank company but in the end, he was not. As we talked further we discovered that Johnny is getting screwed around with a common practice. Tune in and hear how a very big company is practicing unprofessional hiring practices. Married to a trucker Did you know that truckers are far below the average divorce rate in America? You would think being apart from each other so much, it would be the opposite. Truck drivers seem to be doing it right when it comes to love. Troy and Ruthann dove in to this hot subject and this conversation had no boundaries. Tune in and hear what the hosts of TalkCDL Trucking Podcast had to say about being married while trucking. Social Media and Love Recently we talked about the traps on social media. There are woman and men trolling social media looking for unsuspecting lonely truckers. Recently there have been a rise in these scam artists luring gullible and desperate people with pictures and friendly conversation. Look no further scammers, why not try for someone that is on the road and lonely? Yeah, thats how they think. Scammers are targeting, you guest it, truckers. Long haul truckers are alone for long periods at a time and can be conned into what looks like a relationship with a friendly smile from just a plane old picture. The scammer is not necessarily a woman. Because you can't see the actual person sending you a picture and texting you sweet words of propositions, it is very easy for man or woman to be behind the scam.  18 Year old Truckers & Electric Semi’s | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:53

18 YEAR OLD TRUCKERS & ELECTRIC SEMI'S. There is now proposed legislation that would allow 18 to 20 year old CDL holder cross state lines. There has been for a long time, 49 states that allow an 18 yearly man or woman, to get their CDL (Commercial drivers license) and driver intrastate only. But with the driver shortage and new safety rules that would apply to these young wanna-be drivers, it is making to sense to allow a new bread of drivers on Americas highways and interstates. The rules that will apply are as follows. It will start with a two-step program of additional training that includes performance benchmarks. They will need to complete at least 400 hours of on-duty time and 240 hours of driving time with an experienced driver in the cab. Thats right 640 hours of total training verses the average driver that is 21 and older, trains at an average of 160 hours of total trucking school classroom and on sight driving. This is sounding like "old school mentoring", you know like "back in the day". We look forward to this new and exciting program that will help the younger generation get off to a well deserved career. 18 Year old Truckers & Electric Semi's Electric semi's and Zero-Emissions is the goal OK, so Zero-emissions? Will it happen? Can it happen? Hmmm, Im sure that we can reduce allot but Zero? This writer will have to see it with my own eyes. Lets start with the trucking industry. Truck manufacturers are capable of producing 600,000 trucks a year. With the current count of 4.5 million class 4 to class 8 trucks on the road, it will hardly happen over night. It is estimated that we might hit 38 percent by the year 2035. The Another thing to be considered is the fact that none of these rigs have been proven to last or to pull 80,000 pound loads in all terrains, including steep mountain grades where a battery will be tested, with what would seem to be impossible strains to overcome. Lets see, what else can we say on the negative side of a zero-emissions electric generation? Oh yeah, how about the 4 wheeler industry, wow, thats allot of switching over. And how about all those car collectors? Do you really thinks that all those collectors will lay down and be told they can never start up that 67 chevy Camaro again and drive it around. Then there's is the aviation industry. How are we going to get an all 747 electric Jetliner to fly as efficient and reliable as the planes of today? It doesn't stop there, you also have chain saw, lawn mayors, ATV,s, power boats and the list goes on and on and on. Lets also not forget the fact that there are countries like the USA, Iran and many many countries that rely on the sale of petroleum. Are we prepared to put that trillio0n dollar industry out of business? No, I doubt that will happen the way they want it to. UPSTAGING TRUCKING FOR ROCK & COUNTRY INDUSTRY. We sat down with Upstaging Inc. and talked about everything from all the rock and roll plus country stars they have hauled for. What it's like and the perks of being a driver for Upstaging. How long a driver has to be on the road when on tour. What job duties a driver has. We sat down with Deanna Plaggmeyer, a long time driver and now driver recruiter for Upstaging. She helped us understand this very unique and interesting trucking company that handle mega concerts throughout the United States and Canada. Please tune into the show this week for the entire interview. UPSTAGING TRUCKING FOR ROCK & COUNTRY INDUSTRY. Upstaging Inc. has been providing logistics and transportation needs for the entertainment industry for 50 years. With it's corporate office at 821 Park Avenue Sycamore, IL 60178 they are strategically located dab smack in the middle of the country. According to the FMCSA.gov page, they have roughly 196 Semi-trucks on the road. This makes them one of the, if not the largest entertainment trucking company in the United States. Covid times. Upstaging is not only a provider for the entertainment industry but is now servicing other industries such as the medical field. When the "covid times" hit, Upstaging was faced with a dilemma. Now that the entire entertainment industry was at a stand still, as far as "live entertainment" goes. There was not a single entertainer that could put on a show due to the fact the the now "social distancing" was in full effect. That meant no more than 50 to a crowd! You can only imagine how devastating that was to a carrier like upstaging, who relied on entertainers that attracted large crowds. Upstaging was used to handling shows that attracted numbers like 30,000 people and at times much much more. The Upstaging team did not give up at this time. They went ahead with their fleet and utilized it where it made sense. they started gathering customers they could provide transportation needs for. It worked and they are now fully operational like a well oiled machine. Two Companies in One As the Covid restriction reduce and hopefully disappear, Upstaging now will have two operations they will be servicing. Logistics for regular customers and of course the entertainment industry. Of course their number one priority is the customers that have gotten them where they are today but upstaging will now have a little different division of themselves. This is great news for driver that wish to get home a little more than the average tour driver. For the last 50 years, if you were a tour driver, you were probably on the road for 3 to 6 months at a time. This is common practice being the "show" must go on which means a driver had to stay with the tour till it ended. The new little division with in Upstaging will now allow driver to see their house allot more than the average tour driver. * Upstaging* National Carriers* Rev Insurance* JJ Keller Become an Owner Operator* Bad Recruiting Call and Trucking News* Too Good To Be True – Truck Drivers Wanted* Sick of Trucking News TalkCDL thanks everyone that listens and shares our shows.

TRUCKER JOHNNY ACID AND Fort Worth TX. Yeah that's right, Johnny Acid is officially a trucker. Sounds scary doesn't it? We caught up with Johnny for a quick interview and he hasn't changed one bit. Johnny is still Johnny and if you have sensitive ears, then you might want to skip this interview. We talked to the vulgar Johnny Acid about his new career and some of the antics he has gotten himself into. Tune into this weeks podcast and hear what the notorious Johnny Acid had to say. Deadly 100 plus vehicle pile up in Fort Worth TX. This past week an icy cold morning lead to multiple fatalities in Fort Worth Tx. Black ice and un-warned vehicles all crashed into each other causing one of if not the most destructive pile-ups in Texas history. At last count there was over 130 vehicles involved in the deadly crash and 6 fatalities. CB's can help At one time every trucker on the road owned and used a CB radio. The CB Radio is one of the most simple but yet amazing tools a trucker can use. CB radios can be used to warn on coming traffic about for example "black ice" or any slippery condition that cars and trucks are experiencing. If for example, every trucker that was in Fort Worth that dreadful day, had a CB Radio, there would have been a good chance that most Big Rigs involved in that wreck, might have been spared the horror. CB radios are great for traffic reports and yes, police reports. Many of times this writer was spared a speeding ticket because I knew there was a speed trap up ahead. If you are a trucker and you want to have an advantage, then buy yourself a good CB Radio. The following radios are what I recommend. Uniden, Cobra and Galaxy.  Trucking stuff and Amazon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:06

Trucking Stuff and Amazon. It looks like Amazon is trying to create its own trucking company by increasing their Owner Operators. Amazon plans to ad hundred's of independent contractors in the hopes they will in turn create their own small trucking companies with in Amazon. Amazon is hoping and banking on a larger trucking business within the Amazon company hauling exclusively for Amazon only. In this writer's opinion they will have to step map to the plate and reach into their deep pockets. Recruiting truck drivers these days is a task and a half itself and if you are going to get enough truckers to join the company you will need big incentives. Information obtained reported that Amazon will create an “incubator” that provides business training and loans for entrepreneurs to start their own trucking companies. Only time will tell and if Amazon has their way, it will be with in the first two quarters of this year. Iowa Trooper Is Calling Out Truckers For Pile Ups TRUCKING STUFF AND AMAZON. An Iowa State Trooper is calling out truckers on social media. Recently on twitter trooper Jon Stickney tweeted " Truckers, all you are is an 80,000 pound sled".  Trucker Concerns | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 41:24

Trucker Concerns. Truck drivers concerns are on the rise in the industry. Truck drivers are concerned about a few things above the rest. One of those concerns is autonomous trucks. Truckers are starting to fear for their futures and rightly so. Self driving trucks are reported to be coming along faster than originally thought. A truck driver with no more skill than driving across country for a living could be seeing their last generation of human piloted tractor-trailers. If the filthy rich have their way, truck drivers will be a thing of the past. On the trucking podcast we talked about this and all the other concerns that truckers are most concerned about. You can find the podcast on most podcast platforms like Apple Podcast, Stitcher, Podbean, Google Podcast and any where a podcast host is you can find TalkCDL Trucking Podcast. Speed Limiters. Another issue truckers are concerned with is speed limiters. From what we are hearing the authorities are calling for a national speed set for all semi-trucks. The speed that is rumored is 65mph. Many truckers are concerned with the safety of other drivers being a split speed limit between four wheeled vehicles and either wheeled vehicles could pose a safety risk for the general public. The other issue is slower speed means more man hours to get the already tiresome job of delivering freight across the country done. Truck Driver Arrested Trucker CONCERNS. A truck driver was arrested at the Golden Spike Travel Plaza in Tremonton. An unnamed tanker driver was attempting to deliver fuel to the truck stop when another semi truck blocked the gas tanks, preventing him from delivering the fuel and completing the job. The tanker driver claims he asked the other driver, Danny Jerome Johnson, to move his rig, but Johnson became “belligerent.”  After an argument between the two broke out, the tank driver claims that Johnson grabbed a sharp edged pipe from his rig and attacked him. He claims Johnson then fled the scene. Later on the highway patrol stopped and arrested Johnson. Coming soon Johnny Acid is back If you remember Johnny Acid from the show a few years ago, he's back. Johnny sat down with Troy for the first time in 2 years. The interview was toughing but funny. Johnny talked about his new career, you guessed it, a trucker.  Trucking Company Fight | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:05

TRUCKING COMPANY FIGHT. It looks like a feud between customer and trucking company is heading for a show down. Prior to Loves Furniture filing of bankruptcy, Penske Logistics filed a suit and asserts that Loves was in financial difficulty for several weeks toward the end of 2020, and it was denied access to merchandise that could’ve been seized in response to non-payment. It appears that each blame each other for problems and is heating up for a battle in court. After Penske provided services, Loves started having trouble paying the bill. The total due was over 1.5 million dollars (Im saying that in my Austin Powers voice). One thing this writer was taught back in the day is this. When you are in business you will have what is called your "A B C D E" customers. You're "A" and "B" customers always honor their contract and pay the invoice on time. But you're "C D and E" customers want to renegotiate terms on every invoice they don't see their way. I was taught that you will not be able to stay in business with "C D and E" customers. Bottom line "go in business with good customers. Warning: Potential Danger of Wide Spread Portests In an article written by Freightwaves. A potential for protests in every state capitol is at risk. This can cause disruptions in everyones life in the vicinity including truckers doing their job. Instructional Technologies inc. has come up with a program to help local and long haul truck drivers avoid possible trouble. Observe the following ●      Avoid provoking or engaging with protesters ●      Set the parking brakes ●      Lock all doors and windows ●      Remain in the vehicle if safe to do so, but never if you feel at risk ●      Call law enforcement ●      Use a mobile phone or dash cam to record the event Also you might ask a family member or a friend to monitor the situation by watching news and social media as to warn you of troubles ahead. * National Carriers Leasing trucks* Cheaper Semi Truck Insurance* Trucking company paperwork people* Johnny Acid* Pass the Torch* 10 Most Dangerous States* Pile-ups TalkCDL Trucking Podcast Hello, we it is 2021 and we are looking forward to another year, Lord Willing!  Passing on the trucking torch | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:54

PASSING ON THE TRUCKING TORCH PASSING ON THE TRUCKING TORCH. The next generation of truckers are eager to pass their test and to their first trucking job. If you have a young son or a friend that is wanting to become a truck driver, try encouraging him. There are some truckers that are trying to discourage young wanna-bee- truckers from following their dream of being the next BJ and the bear. There are actually truck drivers who have taken it upon themselves to sway our future drivers from trucking to perhaps a different field. These grumpy old truckers need to remember their own journey they embarked upon. There was a time in their own life, that no one could talk them out of becoming a trucker. The only reason I can come up with, is, they are miserable and don't like the way the industry is turning. They don't like the new rules that are inevitable to change. They fail to remember when they came into he industry, previous drivers were saying the same thing about the new industry. The generation before them, was just being introduced to things such as "Qualcomm, Aerodyne Tractors (Ant Eaters), New hours of service and new bridge laws" and they did not like it anymore than today's driver likes "ELD's, HOS, Automatic Transmissions and training procedures". So try and remember this the next time you might want to discourage a young driver that has the dream. A look at 2020's crazy events in trucking A LOOK AT 2020'S CRAZY EVENTS IN TRUCKING. In 2020 there were crazy things that happened in trucking and TalkCDL Trucking podcast was there to tell the story. The trucking industry seen many violent incidents and one that comes to mind is the Fedex driver that dragged a protester to his death. We were all witness to that crazy night when protesters seemed to scare a truck driver while surrounding his rig. Just like any other man, the Fedex diver drove off slowly not knowing a man was caught in his drive wheels. While protesters banged on his truck to warn him it appears it startled and scared the man behind the wheel, causing him to drive away for hi own safety. It was a sad ending for all that were involved. One man was killed and the other would have to bare the burden of knowing a person died under his truck. I don't believe the Fedex driver knew what happened and most likely would have never driven off if he knew a driver was trapped in his drive tires. Another incident in trucking would take place May 31st 2020 on the I35 Bridge in Minneapolis MN when a truck driver pulling a liquid tank found himself face to face with an angry mob of protesters. When he tried to cross the bridge the protesters blocked him and he came to a sudden stop. The police would later charge the truck driver with some trumped up charges. The semi-truck was attacked and the driver was beaten by the crown. At one point people could be heard shouting throw him over the bridge. The police showed up and took the trucker into custody. This was a perfect example of people not knowing what they are talking about. In our opinion, if that truck driver was trying to hurt or kill people, he could have slaughtered numerous people effortlessly. The future of this driver remains to be seen but we are hoping he will be cleared of any wrong doing. * http://bit.ly/Fedexprotest* http://bit.ly/Truckdrivercharged* http://bit.ly/GeorgeFloydRiots* http://bit.ly/Truckingcompaniesbankrupt* http://bit.ly/pinnedundersemicdllife* http://bit.ly/mankilledwhensemitruckcrashesthroughhouse* https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/truck/health.html* https://www.jjkeller.com/home* https://drivenci.com* https://www.revinsurance.com* Trucking’s white elephant and stuff* Pile Ups and a Trucker Christmas* 10 Most Dangerous States TO Drive In TalkCDL trucing podcast's sponsors.
