Harvard Extension School's Computer Science E-75: Building Dynamic Websites show

Harvard Extension School's Computer Science E-75: Building Dynamic Websites Join Now to Follow

Today's websites are increasingly dynamic. Pages are no longer static HTML files but instead generated by scripts and database calls. User interfaces are more seamless, with technologies like Ajax replacing traditional page reloads. This course teaches students how to build dynamic websites with Ajax and with Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (LAMP), one of today's most popular frameworks. Students learn how to set up domain names with DNS, how to structure pages with XHTML and CSS, how to program in JavaScript and PHP, how to configure Apache and MySQL, how to design and query databases with SQL, how to use Ajax with both XML and JSON, and how to build mashups. The course explores issues of security, scalability, and cross-browser support and also discusses enterprise-level deployments of websites, including third-party hosting, virtualization, colocation in data centers, firewalling, and load-balancing. AbigailsXRatedDiary show

Hi! :) My name's Abigail. My dad just bought me a video camera so I'm filming my own video diary. It's about being 13, 8th grade (which I'm just starting!), my parents divorce (sob!), and living with Bloomberger's Syndrome. It's a genetic disease that alters the way you look and ages you prematurely. Makes for some pretty awkward turtle moments! It's called "X-Rated" because my moms says that means "you can't watch this" - so if you're not one of my friends or don't have my persmission, DON'T WATCH!

While growing up, my mom was always quick to remind me to wear a half slip with my skirts. She would say “Your hap eslip!! Be sure to wear your hap eslip!!”. So I grew up thinking - the term was always “happy slip”, until I was corrected by classmates who asked me if I had a sad slip as well. Not only is it a funny phrase from the past… - but it reflects what I’d like people to feel when they watch these videos. Hoping they will “slip into happiness” while watching.
