A driver is scheduled for orientation and then the excuses start coming in. The most common excuse is granny. That's right, poor old granny is sick" or my grandma died" but you can sure bet, granny will always be the most common excuse to get out of work. Instead of making up an excuse, why don't you jus tell the company, you found a better fit for you? They would have more respect for you if you would come clean and be honest. You go to the drop yard to pick up a trailer and it has a foot of snow on the top. What do you do? In most cases, there is nothing you can do. Recently a trucker was injured when an ice missile from another tractor-trailer flew off and crashed through his windshield. The driver was transported to the hospital. Police have not said if they located the other driver or if he will be charged with anything. You are dammed if you do and dammed if you don't clean off the snow. The Economy in Trucking. A year ago, small trucking companies were begging to buy trucks. The demand was so high, the dealerships were marking up semi's $30,000 to $40,000. It was disgusting but if you wanted a truck, you were going to pay. Troy was constantly saying, wait till the economy flips and you will see allot of repo's. Well here we are and dealerships, Penske and Ryder's yards are filled with big rigs, for sale and for rent. What happened you ask? Truckers came back to work and brokers were no longer desperate to get their freight hauled. A locksmith came to the rescue, only to a nightmare. According to the news, this truck driver did not want to pay the locksmith but instead ran him over and killed him. Then he had the nerve to go on and make his delivery. Of course the trucker is now in jail. We will see if there is more to this story. Not only cruelty, but for performing sexual acts with various animal. The acts were done from the sleeper birth of a tractor trailer and uploaded to the internet. A Real Twisted Trucker Getting caught is easy these days. The young trucker thought by submitting his animal sex act to other countries like Australia, he would not get caught. But in fact, the country down under, is the very country that nabbed this poor excuse for a man. Now he faces many years in jail and a life of shame and embarrassment. Snitches Get Stitches. There is a law on the books of New York City. It's not a new law but one that has been around since 2018. It is the "snitch' law. How does it work you ask? Citizens of New York hunt for semi-trucks that are idling their motors. They must video the truck for longer than the 3 minutes a trucker is allowed to idle. They then report the trucker and boom, they get paid. This may sound crazy but it is a very true law on. the books. One New Yorker reportedly made over $60, 000 in 2021. Imagine that, a trucker is sitting in 20 degree weather and is expected to freeze because the law states, he may only idle for no more than 3 minutes. Crime On The Road. When you have a concealed carry permit, you don't have the right to pull your gun out to scare people. It is not a Lisence to bully people. In fact, a Lisence to carry a gin bares more responsibility to the person that possesses it. Recently a trucker pulled a gun out and pointed it at a motorist. It sounded like there was road rage going on prior to the incident. A car cut the truck driver off coming into a construction zone and thats when the trucker acted. The driver in the car called 911 and the trucker was arrested. He is now facing up to 25 years in prison. When obtaining your carry permit, we are told to never pull a gun out unless we intend to use it. It is not a deterrent to end an argument. Many people have been arrested because they have misused the privilege they have been given. How Does A Trucker Get Picked For Smuggling Recently we talked about a trucker that was nabbed for smuggling illegal immigrants. over 50 people died in his reefer trailer, which had shut off without him knowing. He is now facing life in prison, along with the mastermind behind this horrific crime. We were wondering, how a trucker even gets the offer to do such a job? We all know that the average person will never even get the opportunity to smuggle humans in a tractor trailer. The reason they won't be asked, is because most truckers don't associate with kind of criminal element. The only truckers that will ever get an offer to do such things, are those of the baser sort. This is how it works people. The problem with using low lines to haul human beings in a semi truck and trailer is, they are usually not the smartest people. The type of driver that is willing to risk being in prison for life, is one that most likely when caught, will turn the rest of the bad guys in. He is also the kind of driver that comes with an higher rick of being caught. This is the only kind of driver that will take this risky job. Many drivers have told TalkCDL their last paycheck from the previous company was stolen. That's right, a driver considers his pay stolen when he does not get his earned wages. Is it Legal to Dock Pay for Poor Performance or for Mistakes? Generally, no an employer cannot engage in docking pay or fining employees for poor performance or mistakes, shortages, or damages. However, if the employee agreed in writing that a deduction could be made, the employer may be able to do so. This is due to winter weather setting in all over. We are suggesting that all drivers everywhere buy a CB Radio.

There's No More Diesel Left Time To Panic. The United States of America uses 128 million gallons of diesel fuel per day or just over 3 million barrels. Experts are telling us we have only enough to cover the next 25 days. How did this happen? How much trouble are we really in? Blame is being cast on the Russian/Ukraine war and of course the past couple years worth of covid problems. These two issues alone have hurt the world supply chain and its not getting better fast enough. Last year alone we consumed over 1.1 billion barrels of fuel and we are on track for another billion plus. Tune into this weeks podcast and hear our take on this. A new trend in the trucking industry Truck drivers are using carriers to catch a ride to a destination they need to reach. The new scam goes like this. A driver gets hired in some distant city in the country. The new carrier does not offer a free ride to orientation. They tell the driver, he needs to fine his own way to his new job. The driver then applies with another carrier in the same area of the desired carrier. Once approved by the second carrier, the driver is offered a plane ticket to come to the new companies orientation. Once the driver lands in that city, he calls the original carrier and goes to work. Meanwhile screwing the new carrier that paid for his plane ticket. Carriers are fighting back. Some carriers are now reporting a driver to DAC or other agencies for "theft by deception of company funds". Meaning they now have to explain to any future companies why a carrier has put them down as a thief on record.
