RB096: Success Doesn’t Live in the Future! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

One of the biggest mistakes people make in health and fitness is believing that success lives somewhere in the future. This myth keeps people from starting, it sabotages them on their journey, it drives negative self-talk...it does a lot of negative things. Worse, media, trainers, coaches, and gyms all use this myth like a dangling carrot that's never quite in your reach. So, if success doesn't live in the future, where DOES it live? How can you free yourself from the madness? And what's the #1 question you should be asking yourself every single day? We cover all that on this episode of the Rebooted Body Podcast.  RB091: Stop Working Out and DWYLT Instead! [AUDIO BLOG] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:30

Happy Thanksgiving!!  I decided to share one of my favorite articles with you today since it's Thanksgiving tomorrow and I am sure most of you are as busy as I am. I coined the idea of DWYLT: Do What You Love, Today! This idea stemmed from the many emails that I have received over the years from people who are burned out on exercise and working out.  I have definitely been in the same boat! DWYLT is the idea that instead of being a slave to cardio or the gym, that you listen to what your body is telling you it wants to do! I list the 15 different activities that I like to do depending on what I have the itch to do. It's not about schedules, tracking performance or feeling like I "have to" do something. I wake up and decide to do what I love, today.  Adopting this mentality will change you inside and out! It allows you the opportunity to put yourself first and do what you love to do. It will free you to play and enjoy movement and exercise! Imagine that!! Imagine not being dependent on motivation and do what you love, today!  Post your own list of activities you love to do in the comments and let everyone know that you are taking action on this!   Mentioned on the Show: * Stop Working Out and DWYLT! article  * Reboot Black Friday Sale! * DWYLT Website * 7 Powerful Ways to Make Walking More Exciting (Featured on Mark's  Daily Apple) * Rebooted Body on iTunes Bumper Music * Dispatch: Bang Bang LIVE * Peter Bradley Adams: The Longer I Run More About This Show How to listen on the go?  RB090: (PART 2) How Hunter-Gatherer Children May Hold the Keys to Human Health with Arthur Haines | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:59

Arthur Haines runs Delta Institute of Natural History in Canton, Maine. He’s a brilliant researcher and has a lot of really helpful insights into human health, so I invited him on the show to compare and contrast the differences between how modern hunter gatherers (still alive) and post-agricultural humans raise children because there are a ton of differences. What’s most critical to understand is that when these modern hunter gatherer children grow up, they don’t experience the physical health issues that we are facing in modern society, nor do they experience the psychological issues that we face. If you’ve listened to me for any length of time you know that I’m not really interested in having one without the other: if you want to be “healthy,” that means physically healthy and psychologically healthy. In part two, we're going to cover: * Breastfeeding * Epigenetics and the role of parental health * Kids menus at restaurants * The importance of nutrition in child development * How schooling is opposed to natural learning processes * Managing the behavior of children * Why kids rebel against parents * And more... I want to stress that this episode is important regardless of whether you have children or not. What you'll learn in these two episodes with Arthur is that changing the landscape of human health requires us to look at a much larger picture than just food and exercise.  If you ARE a parent, you're going to get practical insights into changes you can start making now to produce better outcomes for yourself and your children. In part two, we'll dive deeper into things like nutrition and education.  I want to stress that this episode is important regardless of whether you have children or not.  RB088: From Bikini Competitions to Better Body Image with Madelyn Moon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Madelyn Moon, from Mind Body Musings, is back on the show today to talk about positive body image and learning how to listen to your body, a hot topic in todays culture. Maddy's big turning point happened when she started looking around at fellow competitors and realized that she was not happy criticizing and controlling her diet so strictly. She realized that relationships and living life in a healthy way was more important than giving over to body control. It was great being able to talk to her about her conversion from veganism to a whole foods diet and giving up total control of her food intake. She also shares her journey through disordered eating and obsessive training to doing what she loves to do (speaking of which, be sure to head over to the new #DWYLT site to see our new shirts that are available for pre-order!) and having a healthier relationship with food and exercise. We also discuss incorporating healthy whole foods slowly to allow your system time to adjust and doing the same with exercise. I really hope this episode inspires you to consider your relationship with food and exercise and helps motivate you to make positive changes for life!  RB087: The Practical Truth About Carbohydrates | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Happy Halloween! I debated whether or not I should release an episode on Halloween knowing that everyone (in the U.S. at least) is going to be busy. But, I think this title will grab enough people's attention. On this episode I'm going to give you the practical truth about carbohydrate consumption. While I do most of presenting, we do have a special, secret, guest lecturer to present more of the "science" behind carbohydrates and the human body. You definitely won't want to miss this episode. By the way, I wrote a full article which this episode is based on. You can find it here. The comments section is open...

RB085: Overcoming Pathological Sedentism with Chad and Brenda Walding | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:55

[powerpress] I am back from my family vacation in Destin, Florida and I am so excited to welcome back to the show physical therapists Chad and Brenda Walding of Alchecmy Fitness and Flow in Austin, Texas. These two are also the faces behind The Paleo Secret, an awesome blog to get you thinking about movement, eating well and changing your mindset about how you move throughout your day. We cover a lot of information surrounding being sedentary and how detrimental that is for your health.  These guys have written a new e-book called The Sitting Solution which outlines how to move throughout your day to help correct postural imbalances, relieving pain and helping prevent injury. They have a great understanding of the body and just how destructive living a sedentary lifestyle is to it. It was a blast listening to them discuss ways to correct the sedentary issue that is so prevalent in society.  Some questions I got to ask were: * Why are stand up desks and exercise balls for chairs not enough? * What are the negative impacts of sitting? Is it really that bad? * What is the deal with stagnation vs adaptation? What is the difference and how does it affect the body? * What are functional movements and how do you assess them? * What is the Sitting Solution? What are some interventions we can do to counter the effects of sitting? * What are some examples of exercises to do in The Sitting Solution? What else comes with it? (Anti-Inflammatory Guide, Shopping Guide, The Truth About Back Pain, The Secret to Sexy Shoulders, The Simple Solution to Pain Free Joints and Guide to Fats) * What is the correct way to foam roll? What's the best way to use a roller? What is the best way to use it for the spine? * How much total time investment do you need to make during the day?  Mentioned on the Show: * Shut Down Your Sugar Cravings  * Alchemy Fitness and Flow * The Sitting Solution * TRB044: Physical Therapist Chad Walding Talks Healthcare, Food as Medicine, and Much More… * 30/30 App * Sitting Solution on Facebook   * Rebooted Body Sitting Solution Affiliate Link Support the Show: Do you want to support the show?
