IFDA’s Trucker Rodeo at Disney Orlando | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:00

IFDA'S TRUCKER RODEO AT DISNEY ORLANDO. International Foodservice Distributors http://www.ifdaonline.org is an organization compiled of many food distributing carriers. We sat down with Mark Allen the president and CEO of IFDA for a few minutes. IFDA has their very own "Truckers Hall of Fame". In order to be inducted into the HOF a truck driver must have a minimum of 25 years working for a IFDA (s) carrier (s). The driver must not have a moving violation for the past 5 years and be accident free for the past 25 years. This narrows the field but as Mark said "brings out the best of the best". The rodeo Epcot Each year IFDA sponsors a truck driver rodeo at Epcot in Orlando Fl. Each carrier nominates their best driver and the competition begins. The rodeo shows off truck driver skills from backing to tight maneuvering. The rodeo will not be held this year 2020 for obvious reasons with the corona virus https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html lurking but the rodeo expected to return in October of 2021. * S2E27 – Truckers face off with protesters* S2E22 – Trucking Company Makes a Mistake.  Semi-Truck Robbers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 55:25

Semi-Truck Robbers. In the year 2015 a semi-truck loaded with gold bars was robbed of it cargo in North Carolina. The crooks thought they had gotten away with the perfect crime. They planned stop the truck and rob the drivers of their freight. Over four million dollars in gold was stolen that day and it would take over a year to solve the crime. In the end it was the same old story, a friend turned them in. It never fails, just when you think you have gotten away with something, someone turns you in. The thieves had planned on tracking the semi-truck with a tracking device the leader of the gang had ordered online. They had also planned on setting up a tear gas dispenser inside the cab of the tractor-trailer. The plan actually worked. The crooks were able to zip tie the drivers up and place them in near by woods. They quickly broke the seal to the trailer and made off with the loot. A year later they found themselves behind bars wishing they had either planned better or never planned at all. * https://www.marketplace.org/2020/08/06/how-many-americans-unemployed-right-now/* https://www.businessinsider.com/trucking-bloodbath-truck-drivers-lost-jobs-april-jobs-report-2020-5* https://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/fbi-details-how-48-million-gold-truck-robbery-in-north-carolina-led-to/2267991/* Trucking Stuff with TalKCDL* Australian Trucker Gary with TalkCDL* TalkCDL reviews the new rule in Trucking.* Truckers Hall of Fame Truckers Hall of Fame Trucker Unemployment is high Trucker Unemployment is high. This past April set an all time record with 83, 000 truckers losing their jobs. Mix in a tariff war, riots and the corona virus and you have a recipe for disaster. The trucking industry is no stranger to bad times but these times may be worse than we have seen in a long time. With the addition of a federal boost on top of unemployment compensation it looks like it may be a while till truckers return to wok. Most truck drivers are collecting as much if not more money than they earn on the road. Think about it for s second. If a truck driver can make over a thousand dollars a week clear by sitting at home instead of working for about the same total, he would be crazy to leave home for weeks at a time for less money and not seeing his family. The government was recently quoted as saying "they realize that the federal boost they have been giving workers, may be an incentive Not to Return to work (Duh).

Truckers Hall of Fame | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:41

Truckers Hall of Fame. Truck drivers now have a place they can strive to be a part of. A part of History if you will. A truck driver can now make it into the Truckers Hall of Fame. Recently we picked up on a story that covered a driver making it into the IFDA (International Food Distributors Association) Hall of Fame. In order to qualify, a driver must have 25 verified years behind the wheel of a big rig. Must have been part of a qualified trucking company that is part of IFDA and have all safe driving miles. Truckers Hall of Fame Strangers training others wives Many women attempting to get their CDL are running into road blocks. One of those roadblocks are their very own husbands. In most cases a female trainee is faced with the fact that most carriers are limited on their female trainers. In most cases a women will have to be trained by a man and most likely a man she does not know. Husbands are faced with allowing they're wives to be alone sleeping and partnered up with a man they will never trust. Two to three weeks out on the road night after night with the opposite sex is too much for most husbands and thats where it ends before it starts. One little trick which can happen is this. If a male driver starts ahead of his wife as a driver at. a particular company, does through the "train the trainer" program. He then has a better chance at being his spouses trainer. This is not a guarantee but there are carriers that will allow this once they know the husband has been trained by them to be a trainer. * https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/business/aroundregion/story/2018/dec/02/chattanoogtrucking-museum-open-downtownfreigh/484012/* https://www.truckersnews.com/driver-honored-for-26-years-2-5-million-miles/* Is Trucking Getting Better* Trucking Stuff with TalKCDL* Trucking Quaaludes & Rioters* Trucking News its all about Truckers* Trucking Stats and Those Governing Truckers TalkCDL Interviews We are always on the hunt for someone to interview on the podcast.  Is Trucking Getting Better | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:25

TalKCDL is the Number One Trucking Podcast on planet Earth. This isn't just our claim but yours also. Is Trucking getting better? In the present times and considering everything that has happened in the United Staes, it does seem that the trucking industry is not where it needs to be. Recent reports are saying that employment has grown in the industry. This report might be due to the fact that the recent stimulus package for unemployment has ended. Many drivers had waited till July 31st to see if they would receive an extension on their benefits. Flash forward two weeks and we have yet another extension for unemployment benefits. Drivers that did not ant to go back to work due to the corona virus situation now have the option to stay home and collect money. This write is just not sure that employment is going to grow if there are better incentives to stay home, collect free money and chill out. Watch what you say on Facebook* Trucking Quaaludes & Rioters Is Trucking Getting Better Trucking seems to be suffering great losses with the freight volume being way down. Trucking companies have had to turn to brokers for extra freight to keep their fleets moving. This is the last thing a trucking company wants to do. Turning to brokers can be a nightmare that no one wants to face. When the turn around comes and it will come, trucking will be the first to see it. Trucking has always been the first to see the bed times and the first to see the good times. TalkCDL will keep all of you posted at to when the good times has begun. The Tarif wars started in October of 2018 and is still going today. Most people do not realize that the freight coming into the United States has a tax on it now. The problem is the American businesses are the ones stuck paying the bill. This had created the slowdown in the economy. Businesses could not afford to pay the taxes and thus began the suffering of the bottom line. Every business that had been relying on Chinese imports suffered at the hand of this nasty war. Trucking would take a hit immediately being 90% of all imports is in need of a tractor trailer to move It around. If there is a lack of freight truck g companies quickly become desperate to fill their trailers. IS TRUCKING GETTING BETTER

Masking Truckers at the Pilot Truck stop | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:47

Masking Truckers at the Pilot Truck stop. It's official, the Pilot Truck Stop is now requiring all people entering the store wear a mask. Many truckers are unhappy and are saying they will not wear one. With the ever growing businesses that are instilling this new rule, it is hard to find a business that is liberal. There is a catch though. Most businesses are not enforcing it being they do not want confrontation between customer and employee. I have personally walked into the local Sam's Club without a mask, just to test the waters. Not one store employee had suggested putting on a mask let alone ordered me too. With all the KAOS in the country today, it looks like the people of this country have just about had enough. MASKING TRUCKERS AT THE PILOT TRUCK STOP * S2E22 – Trucking Company Makes a Mistake.  Trucking Stuff with TalKCDL | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:16

Trucking Stuff. This week on the show we talked about a cat that traveled in a Peterbilt from Canada to North Dakota. The cat was a stowaway on board a truckers semi. When the truck driver conducted a daily inspection of his rig, he found the black cat named "spooky". Jack Shao an active trucker called the phone number on the kitties collar and the rest was history. The phone call went to a veterinarian which in turn went right to the cats owner. A happy ending for the felines family. We also highlighted some issues for truck drivers drug screening. According to authorities, an increase in drug screen refusals is on the rise. Most truck drivers don't realize it but a refusal of a random or a pre-employment drug screen is equivalent to an actual drug screen failure. When going through the hiring process, a trucking company views a refusal and a failure equal and therefore in most cases a truck driver is turned down for employment. If you are in a state where "pot" is legal, you might consider avoiding these drugs all together. A CDL can be ruined by doing what a driver might think is his rights, being it is allowed by the state law. Unfortunately it is not allowed on a federal level and therefore dangerous to a truckers career. The refusals of rig screens on the rise could cause the FMCSA to mandate new testing. Truck driver kills 4 children while intoxicated * Meet the hosts of TalkCDL Trucking Podcast Trucking Stuff. A truck driver from Ohio recently rear-ended a car and another semi truck on I70 in Indiana. Corey Withrow, 31, of Camden, Ohio, was arrested and charged with four counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death, and four counts of causing catastrophic injury while operating intoxicated. State police determined Withrow was doing 72mph when he struck the vehicles that had slowed down to merge in a construction zone. The vehicle ignited and resulted in the death of four children trapped in the car. Anesa Noel Acosta, 15; Quintin Michael McGowan, 13; Brekkin Riley Bruce, 8; and Trentin Beau Bruce, 6 were sadly the victims of this alleged drunk driver. *

 Trucking Quaaludes & Rioters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:10:33

Trucking Quaaludes & Rioters. This week on TalkCDL we covered many topics. Of course everything is about trucking. We spoke about quaaludes. Do you remember this drug from way back? It has been a long time since it has been mentioned in fact maybe since the early 90's. At one time quaaludes were the downer that most druggies used to bring them down but since has been long forgotten. Until now. A trucker in Africa was caught trying to hide a bag in the woods before an inspection. He was later apprehended and searched. Come to find out he had a big bag of, you guessed it, quaaludes. We thought this would make an interesting story. How to deal with rioters TalKCDL is the Number One Trucking Podcast on planet Earth. This isn't just our claim but yours also. Trucking Quaaludes & Rioters. We came across a drivers Qualcomm message that displayed a message from his authorities. The message was advice on how to deal with rioters. We are not sure if the message was real but the wording was very interesting. The driver was told to approach the crowd by blowing the horn. The driver was told to move toward the rioters at a speed safe enough for them to move out of the semi trucks way but not too slow that a rioter could jump onto the truck. He was also told that if he hit a rioter to escape safely and then call the authorities. Okay so is this advice you would give a driver? If you are a driver, is this advice you would follow? Let us know what you think of these words of wisdom. Facebook Live Feed We started this weeks podcast on Facebook live.  Truckers are time travelers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:59

Meet the hosts of TalkCDL Trucking Podcast Truckers are time travelers. Imagine if you will, a life on the road. A life filled with travel and moments that are held in our memories. We can reflect back to many parts in time and our minds make us able to travel through time. As truck drivers we have something most occupations do not offer. We have so many precious moments that can take us away and lift us up in great spirits. This he average person might gather time like a trucker but once a year when they go on vacation. An average family traveling to the beach has that memory of the once a year journey but truckers have so may places in time that we have traveled to that its hard to keep track. New York to Montana to Arizona Truck drivers share so many memories. We can recall that moment when we drove down I17 in Arizona from Flagstaff to Phoenix. We can in a half second remember driving from Scranton PA to Roanoke VA and in our minds it only takes seconds to travel those road over and over. Oh how wonderful it is to reflect on some of the places in time we have been, like The beach in Galveston TX, a stadium in Pittsburgh Pa, a diner in Illinois and a concert in Tampa Fl. Yeah truckers have been many places and our mind can quickly run thru time back to those places in an instance. What a great blessing it is to have our minds travel to and fro and enjoying to scenery and even the scents and the sounds.Yeah we are time travelers and truckers just might have a little more places they can go than others. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_time_travel* https://www.insider.com/mental-time-travel-might-be-ruining-your-happiness-2018-8* S2E27 – Truckers face off with protesters* S2E22 – Trucking Company Makes a Mistake.  CB’s plus Troy solved the parking problem, Yay | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:21

CB'S PLUS TROY SOLVED THE PARKING PROBLEM, YAY. Here is Troy's solution. If every city was obligated to provide a resting area with all the amenities for truckers, based on their volume of inbound/outbound freight. For example if a city has 1000 loads per day coming into their city, they would be obligated to provide 1000 parking spaces free of charge. Truck drivers that are under strict rules and regulations should not have to be responsible to adhere to crazy rules and at the same time be burdened to find a place to rest which again is mandatory. If each city was obligated by the same government that imposes guidelines and rules on truck drivers, would impose rules on those cities that are getting rich and taking advantage of the rigs bringing commodities to them. It would equal out the burden put on the trucker. Why should a city receive freight with open arms only to tell our truck drivers they should fend for themselves once the trucker has served them their purpose. This should change and never swing back to burden he working man with this issue ever again. CB's are back? TalKCDL is the Number One Trucking Podcast on planet Earth. This isn't just our claim but yours also. Recently a driver wrote in to TalkCDL to thank us for the big push we have on CB's. He told us how he was on I75 in Florida when an accident happened. He said the back-up on the interstate was very long. He realized that drivers coming up over the hill where the back-up had ended would blind the drivers and they would;d not be able to stop. So the driver started warning others drivers on his CB and long behold many drivers received the message via CB. Some tanked him and told him he saved their life. One driver was not so lucky, a Heartland driver did not have his CB turned on and had to swerve to miss the stopped traffic. He went into a field but kept the truck and trailer upright. When the warning driver had retuned 2 hours later he said the Heartland driver was being pulled out of the mud. He thanked us and wanted us to know that he was a 2 million safe driver.  Sick of Trucking News | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:18

Sick of trucking news. Lately the news in trucking is just down right depressing. All you hear is how unsafe it is to go into cities and how there is no freight. Just recently a few truck drivers made the headlines just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. A trucker in Minnesota was surprised as he came around a turn and discovered a mob on a bridge he had to cross. This of course being a surprise, conduced the driver as he started across the bridge. The rioters approached the driver in an aggressive manor which in turn caused the driver to move forward. In the end there was a trucker dragged from his rig and beaten and arrested. Another driver in St. Louis was put in a situation when the mob tried to break into his truck. He eventually mashed on the fuel and refused tp stop. Unfortunately a protester was caught between the two trailers he was pulling and of course the young man lost his life. The truck driver did not even know he had killed someone until he was pulled over several miles later and informed by police. Then there's the corona virus or covid-19 Meet the hosts of TalkCDL Trucking Podcast The news that has been effecting truck drivers in a negative way all started with the corona virus. Truckers were one of the many workers considered "essential". That being said, truckers had to press on and get the job done, meanwhile being exposed to many possible sick Americans. The news in rucking has also seen a record amount of trucking companies go out of business. Freight has not been the same since October of 2018 and has gotten worse. Trucking news all and all has been very depressing. When will it end? The good news Sick of Trucking News. The good news is everything comes around. Since the beginning of time good times are followed by bad times followed by good times. It keeps going around and it balances itself out. So when are the good times coming back you ask? Who really knows how long each period will last. Hang in their and don't lose your faith would be this editors answer. Wake up each morning and realize you're still on this side of the sod and the Lord has given you yet another day, so make it you t each day.  Truckers won’t deliver to copless cities | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:01

Truckers won't deliver to copless cities. Truckers from all over the country are weighing in on the possibility of cites that are defunding the police and they are saying they will not take loads to such places. Truckers have it tough enough without having the law on their side. The title "truck driver" is considered one of the most dangerous jobs in america, so having no protection would take that to an all new level. Imagine if you will a truck driver delivering a load to a lawless city? Now imagine the the statistics of robberies, muggings and even murders climbing at record speeds. Truckers have been answering the call to deliver during the corona virus times and they have even made some deliveries to areas where the riots have taken place but that is where most are drawing the line. Truck drivers would not only be in danger of being hurt or killed but they would also be in danger of being prosecuted by such cities if the trucker were to defend himself and hurt a potential attacker. There are many reasons why truckers will not deliver but the bottom line is it is a no win situation. You are the captain of the ship drivers All about TruckingWe have been telling drivers for many years that they are the captain of their ship. Being told you have to deliver into a danger zone such as a lawless city is not different than being told you have to drive in unsafe weather. It is also no different than being told to run past your allotted hours of service or even asked to drive when you are tired and feel unsafe. There is absolutely no difference and if you decide to give in to pressure and take a load into a danger zone such as an area of rioting, you will be held responsible. When you move forward in the direction of danger, you are the one with the final decision and the courts will hold you accountable more than the rest. Ultimately you must make the decision of refusing that load even if it means your job, period. A city without trucking Truckers won't deliver to copless cities. A city that has cut off their supply of essential resources is a city that will fall. Imagine a city that does not have goods coming into feed their children. After a week no more water in the shelf, no gas and food altogether will be hard to find. Every person that is a good hard working skillful laborer will leave in search of a new life. The only ones Left will be a lawless generation. Sixty Five percent will not know how to survive with out help and will start looking for others to rob. The ones that stayed being that are capable and have stored up food and money will become targets. The ones that do know how to plant and hunt will also become victims. Is a short time the city will look like something out of a Steven King movies. Have you ever seen the movie "Escape from New York"? Just a mad house run by hoodlums and only the strong survive! A true apocalypse! The this blue line The thin blue line is a concept developed by cops. It is said that if you are a cop, you should never rat on your brother cops. The problem with this concept is this. |The only ones preaching this are the ones breaking rules. Then bad cops that bully the good cops into protecting them when they hide evidence, beat someone down or even make false arrests. These cops are trained from rookies status to protect each other whether they are right or wrong. The problem with is a cop takes an oath to protect all people and uphold the law. This needs to be applied even to police that break the law. TalkCDL Trucking Podcast Join us weekly for our podcast all about trucking.  Trucking Companies are responsible for their drivers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:46

TalKCDL is the Number One Trucking Podcast on planet Earth. This isn't just our claim but yours also. Trucking companies are responsible for their drivers. We conducted a survey recently in light of the violence in America. We asked truck drivers and trucking companies, what is your policy in situations like we are seeing. The situations we are speaking of are the protests the rioting in just about every town in the United States of America. With the death of George Floyd a black man from Minnesota there has been an uprising in the protests of bad police. The problem we are facing in the trucking industry is we have to still do our jobs in getting freight to Americas warehouses and stores. In doing so we are facing many problems with the protests. Truck drivers are facing mounted hurdles when it comes to routing for example. If the protests are large enough in a particular city, it makes it virtually impossible to safely deliver freight to that area. It is not only unsafe but it is also very difficult to maneuver through such cities. Recently a Fedex driver found himself in a situation where fear and the unknown was dropped in to the unsuspecting trucker. Out of fear the driver felt he had no other choice but to try and make an escape from the city when he perceived that he was in danger from rioters. The driver did not realize but he had caught a protester between his trailers and ultimately killing the man. So what did the trucking companies say We spoke to a few carriers and one in particular was in the Minneapolis area. The area where it all started. We asked the general manager at a midsized company what their policy is when it comes to one of their drivers in these situations. He said "We are ultimately responsible for the drivers well being", he then explained that a trucking company is like "The traffic controller" at an airport. Just like the airplane that he is helping can not see everything around him and he relies on the controller to maneuver his plane in and our of tight areas safely, so is the same for the trucking company. A trucking company must be the eyes and ears of the driver. The carrier must know what they are sending their driver into. He said take the tank driver on the bridge for example. You know the one that the media tried to say "he tried to run over protesters"? He said the driver was making a delivery right around the corner and was unsuspecting. This driver in a sense should not have been in harms way. It is the job of the trucking company to know of imminent danger in the delivery areas. When the driver came around the corner he appeared to be very surprised at what he was seeing. Most likely became confused. This could have been avoided by the carrier canceling the load whether a business needed to or not. The drivers life is not worth taking a risk but he was still put there to make his delivery. Even if the driver volunteered to make that delivery, the company should have canceled the load until it was deemed a safe area for a trucker to make his delivery. * https://patch.com/minnesota/southwestminneapolis/no-charges-beating-trucker-who-drove-through-protest-crowd* https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/police-identify-man-killed-by-fedex-truck-saturday-morning-after-protesters-blocked-interstate/article_d0dce1b7-d6f3-5b3a-a8c6-7ca9590e26a9.html* http://talkcdl.com/australian-trucker-gary-with-talkcdl/* http://talkcdl.
