10 MOST DANGEROUS STATES TO DRIVE IN. We researched the most dangerous states to drive in according to bad drivers. You won't believe who is the number one state and you also won't believe which states did not make the top ten. Colorado ranked number 10 on the list. In rode to make the list you have to score high in a combination of Incidents, Accidents, Speeding tickets and DUI's. Michigan of all states was named the safest state to drive in. The number 1 state for bad drivers is Ohio. The states that did not make the list include Florida, California and New Jersey. New York didn't make the list either. So like I said you will be surprised who made it and who has not. Suicide by Semi Truck. Suicide by semi-truck is an awful way to go. First off, we hate to report on anyone that has taken their own life. We truly hope that anyone reading this article that has depression would seek help, you can always start over if you have lost something like a job, a wife and even you're home. The report said that witnesses claim the young man ran into the path of the rig intentionally. No further information was given. Nashville Bombing What would you do if you pulled your rig into an area, backed into a dock and then heard a voice coming from an RV warning of imminent danger? In fact warning you of an explosive set to go off? Thats exactly what those that were in the area in Nashville TN heard. Truckers are on the battle field these days. Truckers never know if they will be in an area where history is about to be made. PILE UPS AND A TRUCKER CHRISTMAS. Merry Christmas to all. We hope this season finds every driver and their family safe and healthy. We started this show off talking about a few Christmas memories for our family. One in particular where we find little Ruthann teasing our children by not allowing them to open they presents until Troy got home to watch. Its ends up Troy did not get home till sometime in the afternoon which of course went over real big with the kids, not! PIle Ups and CB radio's PILE UPS AND A TRUCKER CHRISTMAS. Truck pile ups are more frequent than ever. It is no secret that the number of multi vehicle pile ups have increased and at the same time truck drivers are using their CB Radio less than ever. We interviewed a few trucking companies and they all agree, most truckers don't even own a CB anymore. One trucking company in Texas told us less than half of their drivers use a CB and thats scary. In recent conversations we were told by drivers that they don't need a CB radio to stay safe. The other half of drivers would beg to differ. We have heard countless stories how a CB saved a driver from getting into an accident by knowing there was something in the road just seconds ahead of them. Drivers that think they don't need a CB should look at the statistic and realize that sooner or later they will wish they had a CB. Recently there was over 60 vehicles that pile up on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania. We are sure there are a few truckers that are purchasing a CB right about now and thats if they still have a job. CB Radios are a tool that drivers need When a trucker is driving he must remember that he is working. Yes its a nice job that we get to kick back and just drive but it is also a job. As drivers, we owe it to ourselves to have every advantage to that job. The CB radio is not only a life saver but its much more. For example, when at a shipper you might be asked to put your CB on a certain channel and wait for the shipper to call you when a door is open. If you dont have a CB you might find yourself having to walk back and forth from truck to office checking on the door. Another example if when you're coming into a city and there is a big back up of traffic. You at that point could ask one of the locals how to get around it. You might also ask for a bear report (thats a police report to all you that don't know the lingo) if there are any cops that have set up speed traps. There are many advantages to using a CB radio and thats just a few of them. SEMI TRUCK THEFT & MURDERED TRUCKERS. Semi truck theft averages more than 20 stolen trailers per day just in the United States alone. California, Texas, Florida, Georgia and New Jersey lead the nation with the highest numbers of theft. California alone registers over 1700 stolen trailers a year. It coast tax payers in the billions and it doesn't seem to be coming to an end. Thieves know that one quick grab can yield them upwards of a million dollars depending on the cargo in each trailer. Among the favorite targets of would-be truck thieves food, electronics and pharmaceuticals. The majority of semi truck theft happen in dark parking lots such as truck stops, abandoned malls, rest areas and shopping centers. You can help by making the following steps. First thing a truck driver should always have is a Pin-lock. When a truck driver drops his trailer in a parking lot he should secure it by putting a pin lock on the king pin. The second step a driver can take to prevent theft is to make sure the trailer and truck is parked in a well lit area. The third thing would be to try and Parkin a secured lot. If a lot with a security guard is not available a truck driver should at least make an attempt to find parking where security cameras are available. Another little trick that will help is to find something solid to back up to. A pole, an embankment or even a solid concert wall if possible. This helps prevent anyone from breaking into the trailer while it is in a yard. Also parking a semi truck as close to your house as possible will enable you to make frequent checks on the truck and trailer. A couple of drive-byes might make a thief aware that someone is watching the truck and decide that an easier target would be better to find. Two murdered truckers found In South Florida Recently two truck drivers were found murdered in a yard in Opa-Locka Florida. According to police Osmar Oliva, 50, the owner of Oliva Delivery Corp., and Johan Gonzalez Quesada, 26 were both kidnapped by masked men and tortured for a long period before being shot in the head and disposed into a year at an abandoned house. Police are offering a $5000 reward leading to the arrest of the perpetrator's. Both men had a history of crime. In 2007 Oliva was arrested while unloading cargo from a stolen tractor trailer. In 2019 Quesada was accused after authorities found two loads of cargo at his home. The first cargo was frozen shrimp and the second cargo was a load of air conditioners. He was awaiting trial. A third man survived and was in critical condition in the hospital. That victim is not being identified. AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS & COVID VACCINES FOR TRUCKERS. What would you do if you were driving along having a great day. Let's say you were in the middle of Montana, with your favorite drink and enjoying the scenery. Now let's say its almost a perfect morning, thats right I said its morning. There you are enjoying the comfort of your rig, with your favorite drink and the day looks so beautiful. The sky is icy blue and you're feeling euphoric and nothing feels like it will go wrong. But just in a blink, our of know where some crazy driver just aggressively moves around you and cuts right in front of you. Now keep in mind there is no one really around and this crazy guy decides to just make a move that startles you. Remember that you were having one of the best mornings you have had in a long time. That drink was so tasty, the day was looking great and you felt so relaxed, in Montana. But now you've been taken back by the crazy driver and were so startled that it put a little scare into you. Now picture this guy of course still right in front of you because he never increased his speed once he came In front of you. Does this sound like a crazy scenario? Well it is crazy but it's a true situation that happens every day. What I call a "startled moment" can lead to worse things, if we are not prepared. We talked about this situation and other situations that a driver is faced with every day. If we are prepared for the crazy guy we haven't met yet today, we can overcome it. Covid Vaccines for Truckers A recent report by Transport Topics said that truckers are considered essential workers along with others. Truck drivers are most likely to be at the forefront of the new covid vaccines. Perhaps this is the world's was of admitting truckers serve a huge importance in the world's every day life. Perhaps the CDC is thinking "we better make sure truckers are healthy" Because without them we will starve and will be lacking most things we need to purchase on the local shelves. The covid vaccine is going to be strictly up to the individual and you must decide for yourself if it is for you. Some may want to wait to see if there are side effects or if it even will work on the world before they allow the needle to enter their own body. A writer recently said that most common side effects will be nausea, throwing-up, fever and perhaps you might feel like you have the virus but you won't according to the report. Transportation and Fake Truckers. Troy chipped his tooth in church. Ruthann is still getting birthday wishes and oh yeah, trucking news. These are some of the things TalkCDL talked about on this weeks episode of the trucking podcast.  CDLlife.com recently ran a story about two men that tried to steal a load of nuts right from the processing plant in California. The two men went as far as to find a couple of truckers online just to steal their names. They then made up phony paperwork to pose as a legitimate trucking-company picking up a load. Ruthann brought up the recent activity on social media pages. The scam goes like this. A con artist sits behind his computer posing as a very attractive woman. He starts up conversations on blogs that have many truck drivers interacting. He/she asks an unsuspecting trucker if he would like to be friends. Eventually finding a lonely desperate truck driver, the scammer begins his assault. The ultimate goal is to get money sent to him via the desperate lonely trucker. If you are approached on the internet by a very attractive woman, do not fall for it. There has been many men that have fallen prey to these scammers. A man was recently arrested carrying illegal drugs in his semi-trailer. O=Caught at the border on the Laredo TX area, the man fessed up. Once in custody he told authorities that his wife had been kidnapped and the kidnappers were forcing him to run drugs into the USA. Of course the mans lies all came to an end when authorities were able to contact his wife, at her home, safe and secure. How insurance companies grade truckers. Did you know that insurance companies run the same reports as employers? Did you also know that having a bad PSP score could get a truck driver canceled on their insurance policy? We sat down with Gino from REV insurance and we were very surprised at some of the answers we were given about trucker’s insurance. It seems that insurance is going up lately in the trucking industry and if you're looking to get the best rates you might want to call Rev insurance, they swear by their ability to get the best rates for all truck drivers.  We also ask questions about drivers that are having a hard time getting insurance because of their driving record. Bad Benny Killer In A Truck. Bad Benny Wilson grew up in Lavender WA, Population 6,606 people. Known for its lush landscapes and beautiful backdrops for taking pictures, it is a peaceful community, where everyone knows one another by first name. Benny fell in love with Ellie Jones back in grade school and the two of them seemed to be soul mates at a very young age. They would grow up dating all through high school and then marry not long after graduation. Ellie worked at the local lumber yard waiting on customers being her dad was the owner of the entire business. Been y was very comfortable with Ellie working there since he knew her father was always watching over her. Benny on the other hand grew up working for the local tree farm. He would learn how to drive the big rigs at a young age and eventually would become a full-fledged trucker. They would have two children, a girl and a boy and would seemingly look like the perfect family. Baseball games and dance class Ellie was the perfect baseball and dance mom. She would drive Kevin to his baseball games and practice several times a week. She would also sit with Katie during hip hop, jazz and tap class. When Benny was in town, he would also be seen at the little league games and of course Benny would never miss a recital that Katie was in. They would go on camping trips and there was always time made for family dinners. Benny and Ellie along with little Kevin and Katie were what most folks around Lavender would consider a normal family. They were happy and content with what they had found.  Bad Benny Everything seemed great at the Wilsons but not all things are as they appear sometimes. but not all things are as they appear sometimes. You see, Benny had a secret. Benny was a killer. Benny had a side that no one in the town of Washington ever would have suspected. Benny had a hunger and a need to kill. Benny knew this at a young age and somehow disciplined himself to restrain from obeying his urges to slaughter. Benny somehow learned that he would have to plan every move that he made in order to fulfil his desires. Benny knew that every potential victim would have to have the perfect opportunity to not get caught. But the older Benny got the more his urge to kill grew with him. Living the life of perfect husband and dad was not easy but the job of being a trucker would be the easiest way to create opportunity to feed his lust. Trucking and Killing the perfect pair As an over-the-road truck driver you are always on the go. You are always moving in and out of small towns almost un-noticeable. When you are in a place where no one recognizes you, you already have an advantage. Benny would sit in small town coffee shops and just listen. He was patient and watched for the right moment to follow his next prey. Benny had his rig set up with sound proofing, secured chains, drugs to keep someone under control and of course his tools as he would call them.  Loves to hear them scream Benny would wait and take his time. Sometimes Benny would go months without a kill. Just waiting and waiting. When he finally snagged a little rabbit (human) as he referred to them. He would secure them in his chamber and truck them far away before he would hear them scream. Benny would make sure he found a secure place to do his bidding and he was just as patient looking for places to kill as he was waiting for the moment to pounce on a new victim. Once at a kill place Benny would go to work. He would go from loving dad and romantic husband to deranged and twiste...

Convoy and a Driver Survey. This week on TalkCDL we talked about the recent survey in the ATRI American Transportation Research Institute. The survey asked Truck Drivers and Motor Carriers what their most concerns are in trucking. Among the concerns of both sides were Driver pay, driver retention, ELD’s and driver training standards. POT, TRUCKERS & THE NEW T680E. There is a new rise in drug screen failures and refusals. The September statistics are out and there is over a 9 percent increase in truck driver drug failures. With the increased amount of unemployed truck drivers, it is possible that some are turning to drugs for comfort. Even more alarming are the number of drivers that have not started the RTD (return To Duty) process. Approximately 78% of the drivers that have failed, have not started their RTD. This could be a huge number of drivers that are seeking another career. With the large driver shortage in the industry, this is sure to have a negative impact on the entire hiring process. The new Kenworth T680E is set to go on production in 2021. The new Eletric semi truck with come in mostly day cabs. The truck will have a range of 150 miles. Kenworth is and has always been an innovator when it comes to moving forward into the future. We are excited to see where this new concept will end up. Ice Road Truckers Star to serve house arrest Art Burke, the Ice Road Truckers star has run into a little trouble with the law. Burke was charged in connection with a fire at an apartment building in Yellowknife in Canda’s Northwest Territories. The fire occurred in November of 2018 when Burke was trying to make a concentrated form of cannabis called “shatter,” according to reports by the CBC. A TRUCKERS STORY OF CHILD ABUSE. Meet Rodney Timms, the founder of Western Flyer Express. Rodney founded the company along with his son in 1996 but that is not what this story is about. Success means nothing when you have a monster hanging over your head. Rodney would trade everything he has to change what he went through as a child. You see, Rodney is a victim of child abuse. Looking at Rodney's recent past concerning what he has accomplished along with his faith, you wouldn't suspect the nightmare he lived through but in fact he did. This is his story and TalkCDL sat down with him to tell his story. Rodney Timms Western Flyer Express and child abuse victim Child abuse is more prevalent than most realize It’s estimated that at least 1 in 7 children in the US has experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year. Neglect is the most common form of child abuse, followed by physical abuse, sexual abuse, and psychological abuse. In 2018, 76% of child abuse perpetrators were a parent to their victim. In 2018, 62% of children placed in foster care were removed from their homes due to abusive neglect, totalling over 160,000 children. Children who experienced any form of violence in childhood have a 13% greater likelihood of not graduating from high school. Adult survivors of childhood abuse are more likely to experience mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
