Ginger Kern: Exploring the Traveler’s Mindset – Experiencing Big Adventure Through Transformative Travel (AoL 020) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:21:10

Travel is something that is brought up constantly in the creator / expert / lifestyle business industry. Many of us travel as much as we can. Others simply make traveling part of our regular lifestyle. Two of our most popular past sessions featured two regular travelers, Cam Adair in session 8, and Marianne Jennings in session 12. They have made it a point to be on move around the globe - for different reasons, I'm sure. When it comes to actually doing the traveling, however, there are some of us who wouldn't mind going, but aren't sure where to start. That's where today's guest, Ginger Kern, comes into the picture. However she's more than a traveler's coach. She's a coach who instills traveling practices within her coaching. Being a major proponent of what's called, transformative traveling, she has come to realize that when you see the world as a traveler, you see the smallest things in your own world in a whole new perspective. In fact, I would call it being more aware. As a traveler, that's what you have to do in a new land - even if you're in a new city just a couple of hours from your home. In today's session, we discuss how she came across her Traveler's Mindset, where it's taken her, her experience as a TedX speaker, and what she plans on doing in the not too distant future. SPECIFICALLY, YOU’LL FIND OUT MORE ABOUT: * Where her love of travel came from. * How Greek Mythology propelled her into her traveling interests and gave her courage to do so. * How traveling has lead to her learning multiple languages. * How to become a presenter at a TedX talk * What she got out of speaking at the TedX event * How Ginger has incorporated travel in her coaching * Why she believes a "rite of passage" is needed for someone to kickoff  their dreams. * Tips for newbie coaches including how to get paying clients. * How her life and week compares to a typical Type A entrepreneur * What she considers her home base. * Thoughts about small towns and how that can be a great launchpad to explore... or not. * What future goals she has including possibly doing more things with transformative traveling. * …and MUCH more.  AoL 019: Marrying an Entrepreneur and the Fundamentals of Building a Business with Francielle and Brian Daly | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:24:37

When you're introduced to somethings, you either can go slow or fast. Examples of learning something slow might include many sports and school activities such as multiplication, reading, and writing. You get the idea. Other times you have to go fast - like learning how to ride a bike. When it comes to entrepreneurship, and teaching others, you can do it quickly and risk blowing their minds. Or you can go slow and try to recreate how you might have learned. Unfortunately for people who marry an entrepreneur, they often times don't get the chance to learn slow. Personally for me and Maria, I tried to keep her process relatively slow so that it wouldn't get too nuts. However, as soon as we got married, I had her listening to podcasts and watching courses right away. Eventually getting her interested in what things she wanted to do outside of her day job. I could have gone quicker than that. I know that one of my best friends from school, Ben, got his now wife, Megan, to go to an LTD open meeting for their second date. She got to know the business more than she got to know him! Yikes. Talk about a steep learning curve! Similarly, one of today's guests got the other to go to a business conference early on their dating life as well. As she eludes to in the podcast, he meant business! Francielle Daly quickly realized that Brian was for real and that being with him would mean things would change in her life. And boy did they ever. Now she's running her own site and coaching others with him. All in the matter of a couple of years. In today's session, we talk about what that transformation looked like and the ride they have taken together to this point in their solopreneur careers. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How Francielle was introduced to Entrepreneurship * Where the idea of FullTimeMom.org came from and how it's changed over time. * The importance of the 4 Pillars of Business and how they can affect a business. * How the question “If you thought you were doing everything right and someone told you that you were doing something wrong, how soon would you want to know?” has changed Brian’s perspective on life. * The importance of having a strategy for the things that you do in your business. * Why it might be a good thing to work with professionals. * Why an assessment is critical when forming teams and business relationships. * How they've had success finding clients. * Whether they see themselves as being unemployable. * …and MUCH more.  Mirna Bacun – How to Use LinkedIn to Build a Community and Make Thousands in Revenue (AoL 018) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:56

If you're a creator who wants to build awareness, there's not many better ways than to build an online community on one of the social media platforms. Most creators opt for Facebook because it has the largest footprint. However, does that mean it's the best? Does it mean it's the most efficient? I know for me, I've seen plenty of groups on Facebook that are highly engaged. That's why I started the Junto group there. Unfortunately, I didn't really know what I was doing when I started it, so it's kind of a ghost town. I'm still trying to fix that because, Facebook groups is where it's at in 2016 when it comes to engaged communities on social media. Mirna Bacun begs to differ. Through doing her work with her SaaS project, Greenpie, she has found a great way to build communities on LinkedIn. When she got into The Foundation, she had very little knowledge of entrepreneurship and possibly even worse, little to no connections when it came to building her list of potential clients. So long story short, she decided that LinkedIn was as good as any other place to build a community for her company. She chose well. In the podcast, she talks about how literally everything she does on LinkedIn is free. Getting on News Feeds, messaging, sending bulletins - all of it. Besides her background and how she got started as entrepreneur, she also talks about her new course and how you can learn just enough about LinkedIn to get a group going yourself and to make thousands in revenue So if you're in need for a community and want to do it in an effective an inexpensive way, then you'll definitely dig this conversation... and then look for her to release her course in February 2016. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How Myr got into entrepreneurship, and more specifically, in The Foundation. * What she got out of The Foundation besides her own company. * How she handled and overcame her family skepticism of what she was doing. * The founding of her first business, Greenpie * How she got into building communities on LinkedIn * What the benefits are of building a community on LinkedIn (including free traffic) * Why she loves LinkedIn vs Facebook * How you can learn what she knows about LinkedIn (she made a course version 2!) * How she's been able to utilize her Yoga teaching methods to help others * …and MUCH more.  AoL 017: Helping Organizations Find Their True North through Projects with Frank Forte | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:00:35

As movements and organizations grow, they sometimes lose the soul of what the organization was originally based on. Or, perhaps they've grown with the original intent for so long that they are too chaotic for their own good. Take academia for example. When I was a graduate instructor, the head of my department didn't get along too well with the head of the actual building. One was in charge of courses in her department, the other was in focused on building connections with those who were outside of Purdue. As far as I could tell, what happened was that as the building and all the activities outgrew the department, the old department head wasn't made in charge of the building as a whole. The powers that were opted to pull someone in from the outside. One would think that for the place to be effective, that they would have set their differences aside and worked together. But they never did. (Eventually the building head left for greener pastures. Good for him!) I'm sure places that you've worked at or with have had similar communication or vision issues. Unfortunately (or fortunately), outside of academia, these differences eventually will have to end. Otherwise someone will lose their job, client, or even worse, the organization might fold. Oftentimes, outside help is needed to fix these issues. Amongst other things, this is what this session's guest, Frank Forte, does. He helps companies find their true north as he "speaks, mentors, coaches, and consults for individuals and companies on how to effect change through projects." Frank has worked with organizations of all sizes on multiple projects and has come to the realization that people are ultimately what need to helped. I like to think he does it in a way that is under the radar. In this particular session, we discuss how companies of all sizes need to understand leadership and what makes a successful consultant and entrepreneur. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How Frank got interested in leadership and how he's applied what he's learned in organizations he's worked with during his career * Two big keys in being a good leader * Why consultants should see themselves as entrepreneurs * The difference between Freelancing and Consulting * Why he believes knowing how to wield leadership is vital in being a successful entrepreneur no matter the size of the business. * Why it's important to stay out of the blame game * What are steps to becoming a successful consultant and/or coach * The most important traits that an entrepreneur should have. * What he means when he says "he affects change through projects" * What he believes that companies have focused on in the past 10 years and what that means for entrepreneurs in the future. * …and MUCH more.  Allie McAdam: Secrets of Being a Young Successful Mompreneur (AoL 016) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:13

Creators are generally a different breed than most. Many times, we find ourselves trying to fit into a world that is so focused on consumerism, that we Creators are kinda looked at funny when we tell people what we do. Even this past Christmas, I found myself having to explain to multiple family members what it was that I was doing. They still live in a world where they get up before the crack of dawn and are in bed early in the evening to do it all again the next day. As a night owl, that was never going to work for me. Let alone the fact that, in the long run, I don't take orders very well. It's never been in my personality. (The longest I ever held a job was for 2 years!) In the end, I have no choice other to be an entrepreneur. Our next guest, is no different. In fact, as a young Millennial, Allie McAdam found herself kicking authority as well. In fact, like many of us entrepreneurial creators, she calls herself happily unemployable. She knew this as she was going through high school and when she graduated in 2013, she knew that she wasn't going to be going to college. However, the story doesn't end there. In 2014 she also had her first child. So that makes her a Mompreneur! So she had to grow things quickly to be able to support her kid. How was she able to be a new mom and a new business owner? That's what we talk with her in this session about. So, if you're a young business owner who's thinking about having kids (like me!) or you're a young parent and thinking about starting a business, then you won't want to miss this discussion between Trin, myself, and Allie. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How she got into web development. * Why gaming can be a good thing * What has helped her succeed in life as a young mom. * What her definition of happiness is. * Does she resonate more with the "younger" or "older" Millennial * Her thoughts of being an independent thinker and how that's gotten her into trouble in the past. * The importance of mentorship. * What she thinks is trending in the expert space and the importance of being genuine * How mompreneurs can foster a work-life balance * Why she loves Blab so much and her perception of Twitter and Instagram. * How to pick a tattoo you can live with * …and MUCH more.  AoL 015: The Legal Basis for a Moral Constitution with Jenna Ellis | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:15:12

Have you ever been so passionate about something that it compelled you take action in a way that you've never done before? Perhaps it was something that you thought was unfair. Or perhaps you had a sudden interest in a particular subject and you just thought it was time to take that certain action. This describes today's guest, Jenna Ellis. A new author who got her first book, The Legal Basis for A Moral Constitution (Amazon), into Barnes and Noble. You might remember back in June of 2015 that gay couples were given the ability to legally marry. At face value, that might not seem like a bad thing. But the way that it was legalized, many, including Jenna (who's a constitutional lawyer), believe was very questionable. Furthermore, in recent years, we've seen an uptick in judgements that many would deem morally questionable. Jenna's book "offers insight into the legal reasons our nation must be compelled to return to universally objective moral judgments from a higher source than the collective government. Morality is not the subjective, changing whim of the majority, or more specifically, the majority of nine Supreme Court Justices." In other words, she explores our Founding Documents and their true initial intent and discusses why we can't rely on simple interpretation of those laws. As creators, this is important information to know. We need to know what the real law is and if our backs are being covered by those who are in power. Because, as it currently stands, we could find ourselves, one day, in a situation where discussing a certain topic or doing a certain act might be more than just taboo - it might be labeled illegal simply based on 5 Justice's interpretation of a law.  So, if you're curious as to what got Jenna started on her path of creativity and how you might be able to get a publisher to get your first book to the masses, then this is a great discussion. While we don't spend much time talking about the book itself, I think you'll be able to see just how passionate she is about her work. In this regard, I believe that we all can learn something from her. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How Jenna knew she was always going to be a lawyer. * What she got out of her years in journalism school that helped her write her book. * When she knew it was time to write a book. * How she made her book accessible to people who don't speak or read legalese. * What she believes is the future of Conservatism and the use of Natural Law. * How she was able to get her first book into Barnes and Noble. * Why she's not afraid of traditional public speaking. * Why she believes it's important to teach Millennials and future generations what really matters in life and why it's important to care. * …and MUCH more.  AoL 014: From NASA to Fitness Coach – Knowing When It’s Time to Move On with Laila Rahmatian | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:05:25

Many people who think about being a creator full time have to struggle with a particular decision. That decision is whether or not it's viable. I mean, it's a very big deal. Sometimes this struggle is amplified from financial instability or from a questioning of who they are. And yet, sometimes it's a combination of both. For me personally, I knew that I've always been a creator. As you might recall, back in high school I had the opportunity to go into art or science as my focus. I chose to go the science route because I believed it would have a larger payout in the end. Things changed and I soon found out that I didn't want to be a traditional engineer. I then went to grad school for organizational leadership. Today, I find myself using both my artistic side as well as my technical/engineering side to do the work I'm doing today. In today's session, I'm talking with Laila Rahmatian about her recent career change. Like myself, she identifies with the term multipotentialite and still doesn't quite know if her current career choice is where she'll always be. (That's alright, by the way. Multipotentialites are often labeled as Jack and Jills of All Trades.) While the talk focuses on various things around her career path from NASA to being a fitness coach, she also has other talents that we didn't discuss. Including being a great photographer. So, if you're having issues choosing how to make an income doing something you love, maybe it isn't so much about picking just one thing forever. Maybe it's simply time to realize that it's time to move on to the next chapter. Then you can worry about what you're going to do during that chapter. It's my hope that this discussion will help you determine if it's that time. Enjoy! IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How early in her life she had her sights set on NASA. * How she eventually got to NASA after being at Purdue as a Civil Engineering Student * How Having to go the extra mile for good grades in school actually paid off later in life. * When she knew that it was time to leave NASA and pursue her passions elsewhere. * What she learned from going to grad school. * How to realize when it's the next chapter in your life. * How she believes engineering is still part of her future. * …and MUCH more. Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer. ITEMS and PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: * Laila's Facebook Page * Laila's Instagram * Laila's Beachbody Site (Hire her on a coach off or online!) * Disney College Program * NASA Internship * 99Designs - Great option to get help with graphic work. * Fizzle – Our go to community for building online businesses. If you think you might want to become more of a traveler or ...

AoL 013: Unseen Motivators That Keep Entrepreneurs Going With Dennis And Claudia Haddix | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:14:50

For many of us, it's hard to tell whether we're a creative or just pretending to be. Whether we've had to become one out of necessity or rather we're one naturally, many times it might be a struggle to carry on - especially if you're just starting out. You might even sometimes wonder, "Why am I doing this?". For me, personally, I can't see myself doing anything else. Ever since I was in LTD and later heard Pat Flynn, I realized that my calling was to be an entrepreneur. More specifically to help people with their online business - in what ever form that might be. I think it could go earlier than that, however. Being someone that has always excelled at technology, it occurred to me that I've always been useful to others when it came to teaching them how to use many forms of it. On top of that, I've had a knack for connecting with people online and, furthermore, those people with other people and ideas. (Who said gaming wasn't useful?) In today's chat with Dennis and Claudia Haddix, Brian and I chat with them about business. Not the metrics and how-tos of what they do. (Even that's what I was prepared to do!) Instead, we talk about what makes them tick as entrepreneurs. Why they do what they do. Dennis and Claudia are experienced eCommerce entrepreneurs and have been running the Makarios Group since 2008. How I met them is through their meetup where they help others do what they do. Free of charge. So it's obvious, to me, they have a passion. And I think that those of us who have this natural calling to create and add value to others is something that if we neglect, we'll always wonder what could have been. If you currently own a business or (maybe thinking of starting one) and wonder what might keep you going over the long haul, I think it might be worth your time to see things from a veteran's perspective. It's an awesome conversation, and I can't wait for you guys to hear it. Enjoy!   IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How they started doing eCommerce * What they did before starting the Makarios Group. * What all our various reasons are for being entrepreneurs. * Why the impossible isn't actually impossible. * What a day in the life of Dennis and Claudia looks like. * What it's like when a hobby becomes a business (and what they believe the hardest part is about that transformation). * What it's important to understand what a couple's roles are when starting a business. * Why Dennis and Claudia feel people "hire" them. * …and MUCH more. Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer. ITEMS and PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: * The Makarios Group * eCommerce Indy Meetup Group * 99Designs - Great option to get help with graphic work. * Fizzle – Our go to community for building online businesses. First month is free! SHOW NOTE EXTRAS: This session's show note extras are all eCommerce related. We didn't really get too much into this during the conversation like I hoped, so I thought I'd drop some other's reviews on you here. First off, here is what got me interested in eCommerce. Pat Flynn has interviewed several people about their experiences with Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA). Going from what is called Retail Arbitrage to Private Labeling. Both can bring in a good income. Just depends on how much you want to hustle vs planning ahead and executing.

AoL 012: Living A Life Of Adventure With Marianne Jennings | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:18

Have you ever wanted to do something so different that almost as soon as you thought about doing it, you thought "Nah, that's just not me."? To go on some some sort of adventure? I know I have. Many of us who are used to the daily grind, be it a job or school, are so used to our routine that we find it hard to step out and do something new. We're afraid of loss. We're afraid that whatever we're going to attempt to do isn't going to work out, so why try to do it in the first place? Why put the good life we have now in jeopardy of doing something that might not work out? For me, when I was in college, I wanted to travel abroad. I wanted to go to bowl games. But I didn't. I think back now that I could have and should have. But at the time, either I didn't want to put in the extra effort to get money for a trip or I thought it would throw my plan to get of college on time. Now, I realize that Purdue hasn't gone to a bowl game since I was in school AND as it was, I was in school for 9 years. Going on these little trips would have been great experiences that I passed up because I wanted to stay comfortable. It's because of people like this session's guest, Marianne Jennings, that I have been able to see opportunity for what it is. I believe that by the time that you're done listening to our chat, that you'll want to add more variety in your life too. I truly think that she could motivate a lot of people to step out of their daily habits and do something that most would seem extraordinary. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * What she got out of being in The Foundation * What she's currently doing that is entrepreneurial. * Exactly what her day job is and how she got into it. * Why it's important to remember that you can start something and course correct along the way. * The inspiration for doing the Fjallraven Polar * What you, as a Angles of Lattitude audience member, can do to help her out. * Why it's awesome to get married after your 20's. * Why it's important to go after once in a lifetime experiences. * …and MUCH more.  AoL 011: Embracing Your True Self with Kate Chaplin | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:55

Kate Chaplin, this week's guest, is a great definition of someone that has not only found what their natural creative state is in (aka their passion) but she has actually made great strides in making it her career. Being not only a podcaster, but an author, and film maker, she has had a lot of experience creating. I thought it would be great for her to come on the show and share how she's gotten to where she is in life, and possibly drop a couple of nuggets of wisdom. There many types of creators. Some build software and some make videos. Others make art while others help share other's messages. In one way or another, we're all creators. However, many of us create in a way that might not be our natural creative state. How do you find that state? I think it differs from person to person. If you're on the hunt for a new beginning in your work, maybe Kate's story will help you get started in the right direction. She explains how she determines what kind of work she does, what lessons she would share with her 10 year old self, and what the inspiration is behind her business. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * Where the name Karmic Courage came from. * How she determines the types of work she does. * Where her love of movies came from. * Where she came from and how that inspired her in what she does today. * What she would tell her 10 year old self today. * Why it's important to not stifle other's creativity. * What's behind the branding of Karmic Courage. * What her next movies, Wig'd Out and Shoki's Bag, are all about. * …and MUCH more.  AoL 010: Job Hunting Tactics for the Job Hunter in 2016 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:41

In today's job market, a resume and a cover letter are just part of the tools that you need to successfully get a job. They simply don't get the same job done that they did back before 2008. In my experience, the advice that is given in schools and colleges almost doesn't cut it for today's recruiters who have less time to look at more applications. When in college, most people don't even realize the important of a job fair and how they can leverage it to the best of their advantage. In fact, a lot of students don't even go to them. "What's the point?", they think. "They're just going to tell me to go online and apply." Well, that might be true, but these people will possibly be those that are pulling your resume out from the tons of others that it's competing with.  AoL009: Ideas to Improve all the Tomorrows of your Life with Jim Vaughan | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:56

Gary Vaynerchuk, Pat Flynn, Tim Ferriss, even Tony Robbins. These are names that we can picture when we think about being successful in climbing their respective career mountains. We all know these names because they share, on a regular basis, how they got to where they're at and what they're currently doing. One thing that they all have in common is that they're releasing new content all the time. That's what makes them popular, I'm sure. They all are people we'd consider to be extraordinary and able to give lots of information in how we can be great like them. However, the idea of being great and teaching others to be the same isn't new. Would you believe that Tony Robbins wasn't the first big self-help star out there? He had to learn from others... but who did he learn from? Who was popular in that time? These were questions I continually searched when I first learned about the self-help field. I know Tony mentions a few in his books, but I always wondered if there were others that were popular at the time. If you know Tony's story, you know that he started out pretty normal like most of us. So it wasn't like he had special access to any insider information. When I met Jim Vaughan in 2012, he helped shed some light on this mystery. With the site that he had at the time, I was able to go into this vast library and learn from some of these past rock stars of success. Some of those names included Earl Nightingale, Paul J. Meyer, Andrew Carnegie and others. These are people who he considers part of his Personal Board of Directors. These were people that I was sure that could have impacted Tony's education! And when I say education, don't believe that what I'm talking about has anything to do with what you find in formal education. You know, K-12 and college. So much of that knowledge is a complete waste of time when it comes to actually being successful in life. I mean, outside of those who graduated with a STEM related major, it's insane how many college graduates don't have a job in the field they went to school for. However, I'm sure you know this. (Hell, you might even be one of those people. I feel your pain. I went to school for a STEM related major... and used it for a whole two years before I realized that it didn't fit what I wanted to do.) So, if you feel that you've been lead astray in your career (and life in general) and want to really learn from proven old-school life advice, I'd check out what Jim has to say. He's been listening and implementing a lot of it for a good part of his life and is now dedicated to passing that knowledge along. It might just help you be the next Tony Robbins in your field.   IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * Why Jim started listening to success masters and how they amplified his career. * How Jim got hired to do DJ work at the White House (yes, that White House). * How you can change your thought process to get to where you want in life. * What kind of impact Jim wants to make with his businesses. * How Jim came up with the idea for the IQ Morning Report and what it consists of. * Why he believes it's so important to keep learning. * Some of the great tips he's learned through the years including the easiest way to become a people magnet. * Proof that you don't need a formal education to do well for yourself in life. * …and MUCH more.  Cam Adair: From Video Game Addict To Life Changer (AoL 008) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:00

For many of us Millennials, tech comes natural. We've been around it our entire lives. Being on mobile phones. Checking in with friends on social media. Sharing pictures and links. Watching TV. Playing video games. It's what we do. However, in a life that involves all that stuff, sometimes it's easy to get caught up being a consumer of all those things and relying on it a little too much. We become addicts. For me, and this sessions guest, gaming addiction is something that is a serious problem. He and I both started playing more and more to escape our realities at school. And that habit lasted well into our twenties. What was our solution to stop the cycle? To do work we love. Being a serial entrepreneur, Cam now finds himself leading the community over at Game Quitters. A website dedicated to helping those who feel that they're addicted to gaming. While he doesn't mind that people play occasionally, he does think it's necessary that people realize that gaming is entertainment and shouldn't be thought of as anything more. If you or someone you know is struggling with a gaming, TV, or other technology related addiction, then you should hear Cam's story. Even if you don't see yourself as an video game addict, knowing that people like Cam are out there making a difference is truly inspiring. It might just help you realize what you're meant to do as well.  AoL 007: Personal Branding: Not Just for Business Owners with Ryan Rhoten | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:30

When was the last time you cared about what you looked like? If you're like most people, probably this morning before you headed off to the office. The image that you give of yourself is highly important. It's all about first impressions, right? So you know you should be aware of how you're making a first impression in the real world. But what does the internet say about you? Have you done a search on yourself recently to see what comes up? If you have, and you didn't like the results, how can you change that? That's where our guest, Ryan Rhoten, comes into play. Not so long ago, Ryan didn't think about his online persona either. In fact, it wasn't until he didn't get a promotion that he wondered what what was going on. Soon, though, he realized that he didn't look so good on the web. In fact, there were other Ryan Rhotens on the web... one of which that wasn't too flattering. Today, he helps others figure out what their stance is on the web. He does that by helping them hone their personal brand. Yeah, that same personal brand that many celebrities and business owners have to be aware of. If you've recently been denied an interview or promotion that you thought was a sure thing, then you should listen to what Ryan has to say. Even if you're a business owner and you're not exactly sure you know everything about personal branding, you should definitely check this talk out too. It just might mean the difference between you getting that next job or client.  AoL 006: Helping Veterans Become Entrepreneurs with Joe Crane | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:36

Imagine you have been groomed to think and act a certain way for several years. Most of us have, it's called formal education. Now imagine that you voluntarily signed up for this training to be part of something bigger than yourself? That you wanted to serve your country in the best way you know how? That's what our veterans have done. Now think back to when you first got out of school. I remember that it was a difficult time. I didn't have the job that I was supposed to have. Nor did I have the network that I should have had either. The same can be said for many of our vets as well. Many of them have lived a life that is cut off from the rest of society. The time that they do have off, they've spent with their family or friends. Why not? Their job at the time was pretty much 24/7 and they might have never seen those people again. In today's podcast, we speak with Joe Crane who is a veteran of the Marines. He spent over 20 years in the Marines as a Super Cobra pilot. Today, he is a commercial pilot, but while he's not doing that, he hosts a podcast called Veteran on the Move. Not only does Joe help fellow veterans adjust to civilian life, but he has a focus in helping those veterans become entrepreneurs. He believes that many of the skills that he learned in the military transfer very well to owning his own business, so he hopes that other veterans can see that in themselves as well. Are you a veteran who's wondering what your next step in life is? Or do you know a veteran who is kind of treading water after getting out of the military? Then check this session out and see if Joe can assist.   IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How Joe's many transitions in his career helped him to see things differently. * Why Joe started podcasting in the first place. * How he helps people make the transition from being in the military to being an entrepreneur. * How he's able to live a balanced life between being a dad, a pilot, and doing his podcast. * Why he uses SMART goes to get things done (check out session 5 for a definition of SMART goals) * What he feels the difference is between having a J.O.B. and being an entrepreneur is. * What skills he has obtained as a Marine which have helped him succeed as an entrepreneur. * His advice to those who just gotten out of school or the military who are struggling with their identity. * …and much more Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer.
