AoL 005: How to Work Proactively, Not Reactively | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:25

Have you seen pictures similar to the one featured as part of the cover to this session? One's where whoever was doing the construction, just didn't think things through? Or even take the time to find out if the plans were right? In the long run, they're probably going to have to do the work over, or even worse, lose the client that the project was for. In our work, there's many things that we can be a little bit more proactive about. Making a list for things you have to do is a good start, but making a schedule for the week is even better. Generally speaking, I believe the more proactive we are about things at work, the more opportunities we'll have. The more opportunities we have, the more success we'll see in our career. So in this particular session, we'll be talking about simple ways you can be more proactive in your day to day work life, but think about how you can apply those same skills to other areas in your life as well. If you're already being proactive in your every day work and life, what are some examples that you can share that might help others get more done? If you're hearing about being proactive in your work for the first time, what do you think has prohibited you from being more proactive until now? Join us as we look into how to work proactively and not reactively. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * What working proactively actually means. * Why working proactively is important to getting ahead in life. * Why people are more reactive than proactive. * An introduction to Prussian Education system and why it doesn’t necessarily fit today’s student. * What has stuck with Jon from reading the book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey * Quick overview of SMART goals and how you can effectively use that model to make good goals. * How you can think of your goals like training for a big running event. * Why having a vision and why it’s important a journal, calendar, and visual aides to help get there. * …and much more Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer.  AoL 004: Mixing Passions in with a Hectic Work Schedule with Sean Webster | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:33

Many people struggle with maintaining a work life balance. In fact, there's some jobs out there that will almost prohibit you from having a life. (I'm thinking those who work in factories, and other 12 hour shift type places when I say that.) Other jobs, while not necessarily super demanding, just don't have a set schedule and that can really play havoc on trying to set a normal schedule to life related activities. Today, we speak with Sean Webster about this topic. He's the Sales and Marketing Manager for People's Brewing Company out of Lafayette, Indiana. As someone who does sales, you have to make yourself available when your customers are. And his customers can have all kinds of schedules. So this leads to a hectic work schedule! In this session we find out how Sean manages to do his job well (and he does!) while maintaining a regular training routine as a endurance athlete and other life related activities. His answer is not "Oh, you have to set priorities." In fact, I find it to be a better answer than that. What are your secrets for maintaining a work life balance? If you have problems doing so, why is that? Join us as we discuss how you make your job a job that doesn't keep you from things you like doing! IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * Why Sean considers himself an "outgoing introvert" * What he thinks of fellow Millennials and what advantages we have as a generation. * Why people saying that they don’t like beer brings out his competition. * Three essential keys of being successful. * Why your GPA and degree isn’t actually the biggest thing you can get out of going to college. * Why it’s important to have something that you enjoy in life. * How he comes up with his weekly schedule. ...and much more!  AoL 003: 6 Key Methods in Dealing with Frustrating People | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This week's session is a topic session. If you're familiar with the Fizzle Show at Fizzle, then you'll be familiar with the format of this particular show. That said, in this session we talk about dealing with frustrating people. You know, people can frustrate us for a number of reasons and a number of ways. Maybe they're not doing something a certain way. Maybe they've let things get out of control. Perhaps they're not making the experience as enjoyable as it could be. People just rub us the wrong way sometimes. The key is that you don't want to come across as the perpetrator by acting out. So these methods (or maybe they're steps or ways...?) will hopefully help you to not only deal with the person, but keep you sane in the process.   Do you have any annoyingly frustrating people in your life? Perhaps you're wondering if you need to kick them out of it all together? Listen in today as we discuss the process of coping with those that would drive you crazy.   IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * 6 Key Methods of Dealing with Frustrating People (Did I mention they're key?) * Why you should probably only focus on 5 of those methods (the last one is a doozie!) * Why it's important on the issue and not the other person. * Why it's important to not take seriously what others think of you. * and much more! Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer. ITEMS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: * Blog Post on Negative and Positive Thinking * Jim Rohn Library (We mentioned his quote of "You're the average of the 5 people you associate with the most.") * Fizzle – Our go to community for building online businesses. First month is free! * Hostgator – Get unlimited space and bandwidth and great service from Hostgator for cheap! SHOW NOTE EXTRA: If you're ever considering doing a podcast, you might want to know that it's good form to have about 8 sessions ready for the "launch" date. There's a couple of reasons for this. One, 8 weeks is how long a podcast can be on New & Noteworthy on the iTunes Store. Also, to get on that New & Noteworthy listing, you want to have released 3 or 4 sessions close to each other at the beginning. It's also good to give yourself a few weeks of buffer so that if you have conflicts arise, you won't be losing an entire week during the start of your show. Record in bunches if at all possible! (This is the reason that I referred to a post that was released 5 weeks ago! Gotta get ready for that launch.) Thanks for Listening! Thanks so much for joining me again this week. Have some feedback you’d like to share? Leave a note in the comment section below! If you enjoyed this episode, please share it using the social media buttons you see at the top of the post.  AoL 002: Don’t Let Your Past Dictate Your Future with Trin A’Marti | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This week's episode puts a spotlight on one of the friends of the show: Katrina A'Marti. In the future, Katrina (aka Trin) will be helping us with the topic editions of the podcast. In the meantime, though, we thought we'd introduce her as a fellow student of entrepreneurship. Like so many other solopreneurs and people trying to find their passion, she stumbled into the world of business. Also like many of us, she did so because she wasn't fully appreciated in the day job world. In this session, Trin discusses her background and how she got to where she is today. Part of that being the constant love-hate relationship she has with her culture. She offers a few insights into how she stays motivated and who and what she calls her biggest motivators. You'll also hear what she's looking forward to achieving in her new business Meaning & Co. (which at the time of this recording was called ThoughtWhisper). Do you have issues with leaving the 9 to 5 world? Are you worried about others will think of you if you started your own thing? Take a listen to what Trin has to say. I guarantee you'll be inspired.   IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * How she could have easily hid from who she is by letting her Asian culture conform her. * What were the important influencers that got her started down her path of self-development. * What therapy has done for her and her career. * How she's managed to keep her inner hippy happy. * and much more! Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer. SHOW NOTE EXTRAS:   The last question "What Does Success Mean To You" was stolen from the School of Greatness Podcast. The reason we include it is because it's interesting to see what success means to people at various levels in their career - not just at the top. What does success mean to you? Let us know in the comments below! Thanks for Listening! Thanks so much for joining me again this week. Have some feedback you’d like to share? Leave a note in the comment section below!  AoL 001: Intro to the Team and Defining Millennials | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In this first session of the Angles of Lattitude Podcast, we talk about the makeup of the podcast team and just go through a basic exploration of what it means to be a Millennial in 2015. When we were putting this session together, we asked ourselves this question: What sort of ideas can we bring to our audience that will inspire them to break through any negative thoughts. What examples can we bring that will help them take actions on their dreams and ideas. There's plenty of material here in regards to how we look at the world and how we're specifically planning on making an impact. We look forward to having you with us each session. Ready? Let's get things started! IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN: * A little bit about your hosts and why they started the AoL podcast. * What it means to be an older millennial (like JC and Brian) vs a younger millennial (like Jon). * Why we group them the way we do. * What their differences are in approaching entrepreneurship. * and much more! Right click here and save-as to download this episode to your computer. ITEMS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: * Girl Meets World / Boy Meets World * 80's Kid / Old Economy Steve Meme * 2008 Credit Crisis (Subprime Lending Crisis) * Car Companies that Disappeared in 2008 and Why * United States Housing Bubble * Documentary on Generations' Recurring Cycle: Generation Zero * The Original Lost Generation * Purdue's Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship * National Lampoon's Family Vacation (1983) * New Service for Delivering Groceries - Instacart * Fizzle – Our go to community for building online businesses. First month is free! * Hostgator – Get unlimited space and bandwidth and great service from Hostgator for cheap! SHOW NOTE EXTRAS: Trivia: The spelling of Angles of Lattitude Podcast is definitely on purpose. On one hand, Latitude is a measurement of how far North or South you are, but it also means "scope for freedom of action or thought". On the other hand, the term attitude is defined as "a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior". So, if you throw that all together, you get something like: We want to help our audience discover other people and ideas which might make them a better person due to their improved outlook. Final Product: We help you find awesome people and ideas to help you improve on yourself with. Thanks for Listening! Thanks so much for joining me again this week.
