As the NHL preseason appears on the horizon, the Anaheim Ducks remain the only NHL team with less than 20 players signed for next season. This summer the Anaheim Ducks made a few trades with the Toronto Maple Leafs, re-signed existing players, and signed some new players. The NHL free agent frenzy came and went this past Friday. Every team in the league was active that day except for the Anaheim Ducks. Several big contracts were signed by players like Milan Lucic, Andrew Ladd, Kyle Okposo, and Loui Eriksson. Forwards David Perron, Jamie McGinn, and Chris Stewart all left Anaheim and signed with other teams. We highlight some of the transactions from Friday and look at why the Ducks were so quiet. We discuss the potential moves Anaheim can make through free agency and/or via trade to replenish the forward depth currently lacking on the Ducks roster. We look at free agent forwards and goalies who are still available that the Ducks should target. Additionally, we talk about some teams who could be good trading partners for Anaheim. The Anaheim Ducks completed the NHL draft making six selections. In day one of the draft, the Ducks selected left-wing Max Jones(24th overall) and center Sam Steel in the first round (30th overall). Day two of the draft, Anaheim selected defenseman Josh Mahura in the 3rd round(85th overall), left-wing Jack Kopacka in the 4th round(93rd overall), center Alex Dostie 4th round(115th overall), and Tyler Soy in the 7th round. We discuss the Ducks draft selections and highlight some key moments from the NHL draft. Alex Dostie joins our show to talk about his draft experience and the future of his hockey career. Other names that have been reported as potential candidates include Dale Hunter, Luke Richardson, Mike Yeo, Travis Green, Paul MacLean, and Trent Yawney. We discuss all the signings and how they will affect what Bob Murray decides to do in Anaheim. We analyze the potential replacements, including Luke Richardson, whose name surfaced this week in the news as an option for the Ducks. Anaheim's GM Bob Murray completed the player interviews this past week and now turns his attention to finding a new coach for the Ducks. The list of potential replacements is sizable. The Anaheim Ducks season came to an abrupt end after being eliminated by the Nashville Predators. Two days after the Ducks lost Game 7, GM Bob Murray relieved Bruce Boudreau as head coach of the Ducks. Murray held a press conference and is going to take time to find a new coach. This weekend he is going to focus on the players as they do their exit interviews. We discuss our thoughts on Boudreau being let go and who should be the next coach for Anaheim. We discuss the players performances and how they are accountable as well for Anaheim's trouble in the recent playoff appearances. We look at the roster and discuss what players could be staying and leaving for next season. Additionally, we talk about how the Ducks draft strategy may change based upon the coaching and roster moves that lie ahead.
