Sand Dragon: a calming story and meditation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:25

Dragon is ready to relax and heads to the beach. The cozy sand invites Dragon to burrow in until there appeared to be a sand dragon lying on the beach. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story “Giving Back” this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Sand Dragon” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:04 Narrator: Female Sand Dragon Excerpt: Spreading wings wide to catch the breeze, the dragon rose above the train tracks, and waited for the sparkling train to roll by.  Then the dragon followed the train.  As they reached the warm beach, it seemed to call to the dragon.  Poof, a cloud of sand surrounded the dragon and then began to sink back to the earth as the dragon gently landed.  The sand felt so warm. With eyes closed, the relaxed dragon lied down and rolled over, enjoying the hug from the earth.  The dragon heard a giggle and a laugh and peeked to see who it was.  It was Benji the sand bucket and Paula Penguin.  They had watched the dragon roll over and found it quite amusing.  Still upside down, the dragon took a deep breath in and out. and created a smiley face in fire to say hello. Paula and Benji said, “We’re glad to see you again, too!”  The dragon smiled a big smile and rolled back over. Paula said “The sand is nice and warm tonight, isn’t it?” and dug herself a cozy hole to nestle into.  The dragon tilted its head to the side, puzzled at what the little penguin was doing. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating on a cloud, and relax into the feeling of lightness. Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 11:09 Narrator: Male Berry Fun Excerpt: When Andy and his dad reached Allie’s house, she bounded out of the front door with her dad following behind.  While Andy and Allie’s dads talked for a bit Allie said, “Thanks for inviting me!  I’ve never been berry picking before.” “You’re welcome.”  Andy said, smiling.   “This is my first time too.  I guess we’ll figure it out together.” She hopped into the car and said, “You know I really enjoyed playing that Sardines game you taught us.” “Thanks. I’m glad you liked it. Oh look! There’s the brand new train!” Andy said, excitedly pointing out the window. “Isn’t it cool!” Allie said.  “Do you know why it’s sparkling?  That’s the solar paint they used.  I think it’s awesome that the train moves with energy from the sun!  Don’t you?” Andy felt surprised, then excited.  Allie understood solar power, and she liked trains.  He smiled and said, “Yeah, it’s pretty neat.  I like how the solar energy powers the motors and then the magnets inside the track and pulls the train forward or backward, wherever it needs to go.  It’s so quiet too!  Listen!”  Both Allie and Andy listened and could just make out a gentle hum as the train passed them by. Today’s Meditation: Today, you will focus on relaxing your body a little bit at a time.  Starting with your feet, moving up to the top of your head, and ending with a focus on your entire body, you are sure to feel calm and relaxed. I’ve been feeling a little sluggish and could use some extra energy.” Shayla replied. “That’s a good idea! Can I join you?” Santiago asked. Shayla smiled and said, “That’s sounds like fun.” The two sharks began to swim starting with slow graceful swings of their tails.  Robot Build: a mindful children’s story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:52

Today's the day Billy and Emily work together on their robot build. Listen to hear how they cooperate, and how their robot turns out. Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:08 Narrator: Male Robot Build Excerpt: Emily sighed. She knew her big brother had already read the manual twice. Emily also knew the look on Billy’s face. He needed to read it one more time. So even though Emily was eager to get started, she decided she would let her brother finish reading the instructions before suggesting that they begin the build. Instead she decided to try something else. “While you’re reading, I’ll organize the parts.” Emily suggested. “Good idea!” Billy said as he turned to the last page of instructions. Emily set a mat on the table and gently tipped the box to slide everything out on the table. Once she could see everything in the kit, she began to group the parts. On the mat Emily played a matching game with all the little pieces. Screws in one pile, tubes for the frame in another all sorted by size. She placed the larger parts for the robot’s body in the center of the mat. Billy smiled and set the instruction booklet on the table. “Ok! Are you ready?” he asked his sister.  Dragon Castle: a bedtime meditation and story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:52

It's time for a return visit to the beach. Dragon notices Paula Penguin needs a new home and makes her a dragon castle, with a little help from Benji the bucket. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new stories “Park Picnic” this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Dragon Castle,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:13 Narrator: Female Dragon Castle Excerpt: Scanning the warm stretch of sand to see if anyone was there, the careful dragon landed.  Squishy warm sand hugged the dragon’s feet.  The dragon walked slowly, looking for Benji the bucket.  Noticing a bit of blue sticking out of the sand, the dragon hurried over and pulled Benji out. “Oh good you’re back.”  The bucket said.  “I can show you how to make a sand castle.” The dragon smiled wide and nodded. “Ok, you need sand, water, and me.”  The bucket said smiling.   “Carry me over to the water.  We’ll get that first.” Again the dragon nodded, and carried Benji down to the waves.  The water rolled in and out, splashing and tickling the dragon’s feet with sea foam.  The dragon dipped the bucket into the water and filled Benji to the brim.  He carried Benji to a cozy spot in the sun and poured the water onto the sand. Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe. Looking for stories with positive learning moments for your little one?  You'll find it on Ahway Island®.  Your Turn: a soothing story and guided meditation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:53

It time for a game and James is ready. Remembering that his sister often plays the games he chooses, James tells her, "It's your turn to pick." Narrator: Male Your Turn Story Excerpt: James peered out the window at the soft fluffy snow flakes drifting down from the clouds. As the snowflakes fell into the spot light of the outdoor lamps, each flake gleamed bright white and then settled onto the grass.  The yard was slowly tucked in by the white blanket.  James hoped that the snow would still be there tomorrow morning. Julia walked over to the window, sat next to her little brother and said, “Wow, look at all that snow! I can’t wait to play in it tomorrow!” “That’s what I was thinking!” James replied. “It’s too bad, it’s too late to play in the snow now.  Do you want to play with the blocks?” Julia added. “I would rather paint.” James said. “I don’t know,” Julia said, “that’s pretty messy.  Mom and dad may not want us to start a painting project now.” “I really feel like making art.” James said, turning away from the window to look at his sister. “Well you can make art with blocks.” Julia said, “And it isn’t messy.” James was just about to complain. When he realized that the last few times they had played, Julia had let him pick.  James wondered if she got tired of always doing what he wanted to do.  James took a deep dragon breath in and out (deep breath) and decided that it was time to let his big sister pick. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.  Friendly Frogs: a calming meditation and kid’s story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:46

Today Dragon visits the beach again. Paula the blue penguin and Benji the bucket have some friendly frogs they are eager for Dragon to meet. Narrator: Female Friendly Frogs Story Excerpt: Paula the blue penguin waddled over to the dragon with a wide grin.  She carried Benji the sand bucket with her.   They both felt excited to see the friendly dragon. “Welcome back!” Paula said. “We’re so glad to see you!” Benji added. The dragon smiled, and lifted the little penguin and the bucket up, giving them a big hug.  The penguin cooed and said “We were hoping you would come back soon.  We have some new friends for you to meet.” The curious dragon set the little blue penguin and the bucket down in the soft sand, took a deep dragon breath in and out (deep  breath) and the flames formed a question mark. “Follow us!” Paula said, swinging Benji back and forth.  She headed to her sand castle. Paula set the bucket down to wait with the dragon as she hurried inside. “Wait here. They’re a little bit shy.” The blue penguin said. The dragon sat down carefully, so as not to frighten anyone and waited with the little blue bucket.
