Stop Doing This Mistake! Alright, so when you think of Formula One and you think of a famous driver, maybe Mark Webber who is in Australia, he is not going to be getting out of the pit stop and changing the tires. He is not going to be adjusting the sparkplugs or putting fuel in the car or playing around with the spoilers. His job is to drive the car, that’s what he does. Now, as a business owner, I see this as a very common mistake. Business owners are trying to do the wrong thing. A classic example is websites. I did this in the beginning and perhaps you did too. How long have you spent fussing around on colors and trying to learn how to adjust your WordPress website when you should’ve been out there doing strategy, coming up with new offers, meeting new prospects, following up on sales and running your team. These are the more important things.Photo credit Hire Professionals To Manage The Other Things And Start Running Your Business When there’s professionals out there that can do these jobs for low prices, you should engage their services. Stop trying to be the technician get back to being the generalist. You want to conduct the orchestra, you don’t want to play the instrument. Unless you plan on being a WordPress developer, stop trying to be a WordPress developer. Get out there and run your business. Same for bookkeeping, if you’re sitting down at the table for an hour or two or a day or two trying to do your records when there’s qualified accountants with bookkeepers out there, you are crazy! There’s programs like Zero and Shoebox that will help you get the bookkeeping done. Are you mowing your lawns? Are you washing your car? Are you cleaning your house? All of these things are optional. Unless you really love it, you should get someone else to do it. There are plenty of qualified, technically competent people out there who can save you from the mundane. So, get running your business, STOP getting bogged down in the little crap and you’ll prosper. In this episode – how to destroy your website for just $5. So I’ve seen an alarming trend when we get to do website reviews. Sometimes, we see figures that just don’t add up. Now, if our team of Research and Development officers can detect that a website has got unnatural trends then I’m sure that Google can too. So what am I talking about here? What can you get for $5? If you go along to some of the very popular sites where you can buy services from around, let’s say $5, you’ll see that you can now order 70,000 YouTube views for just $5. You can get 20,000 backlinks for just $5. You can get in front of 151,000 Twitter users for just $5. You can get 10 EDU backlinks, full follow, for just $5.Photo credit SEO is not about quantity But I’ve got to ask, what is the point? What is the point of risking and compromising your entire website, your entire asset, your platform with a $5-program that is going to make your site look weird. What do we do that is so different with our SEO? Well, with things like Squidoo now no-following external links, you really have to work harder to place content in relevant places that get you good quality backlinks. It’s not about quantity. In fact since Penguin, the easiest way to blow up your website is to be driving tens of thousands of backlinks with the same anchor text to your site. It will be finished straightaway. How is our SEO service different? So what we do is everything by hand. We hand research. We hand create the content. We hand place it on carefully curated and looked-after sites, not spammy junky sites. So that’s what we do that’s different and I’m assuring you that there’s a big difference between cheap and good. James:          Hey John, thank you. Listen, email is such a huge problem for most entrepreneurs and I suspect most people just get to their computer, open up the email and then, the next few hours, are being bombarded with sales messaging. They might go and buy a course because there’s a very compelling sales copy, they never finish it and then the same little “rat race” happens next day back on the treadmill. You’ve got to cut down your emails. Certainly with my emails, you can click on the link that says “Send it to me weekly”. Another great thing you can do is go to iTunes, there’s actually a link to my iTunes channel on the top of SuperFastBusiness.com. Click on that and subscribe so that you automatically get the audio versions of every post then you can listen to it while you’re walking the dog, going to the gym or doing something like catching a bus. So, that’s one way to really get these short messages. Most of my podcasts are only a few minutes long and the feature ones like this are generally under half an hour. So, get that subscription happening and go back to your email and see what you can do to cull it right down. In my business, I have things set up exactly the way that I need them to be set up to get things done. I’ve got a good microphone, a good camera, and good lighting. I have my stand-up desk where I’ve got no distractions. There’s just the computer on a stand-up desk. I’ve got my sit-down desk where I can focus on things if I just can’t stand any longer. I have up-to-date modern machines that work well, that are clean, that are fast. And I make sure that I eat well, and sleep well, and exercise.Photo credit Get the right gear You see, your environment really does dictate how you’re going to perform. I’ve been into people’s places and I’ve sat down at that old, little, dark, dingy corner desks stuffed full of CDs and DVDs and papers and this clunky old Microsoft computer running Explorer that hasn’t been updated, never had the cache cleaned, and it’s a slow, clunky, old beast. In fact, some people don’t even have the fastest Internet they can have even if it’s available – which I don’t understand. Get productive. Get yourself a nice large screen, a good quality chair or a stand-up desk. Get yourself a modern, up-to-date computer and get serious about your business. These days, it only costs a few thousand dollars to have the most modern, fast equipment. Get crankin’! Get yourself the right gear, set your environment up for success. Remove the paper, remove the distractions, and when it all comes down to it, you know what you have to do: you have to get down to it, roll up your sleeves, and do the work that’s gonna get you the results you want. It’s amazing. The Mac’s dictate feature So I’ve been using an Apple Mac. I’ve got a Mac Air, a MacBook Pro, an iMac, and they’re amazing. They got this fantastic feature which allows me to dictate. If you put a good microphone like this or a quality Rode podcaster which is what I also use, you can use the dictate feature. Now rather than tell you all about it, I’m going to show you. All you have to do is tap the function key twice and then talk. It’s really is that easy. That’s a great progression from podcast to purchase and then implementing the tips given. One thing I would question is whether that is the perfect market. People who are struggling tend to be very difficult customers and have reduced spending power. For that reason I highly recommend you target a more lucrative market of people who are already in motion and need a turbo boost, and already have money at their disposal to throw at your solution. If you’re trying to solve a problem that the customer does not have, then you are irrelevant. In this episode, I’m going to cover what you can do to repair a broken link profile.What We’ve NoticedWe do a lot of website checks and what we find over and over again is websites have been abusing their link profile. They’ve been getting too many links for the exact same keyphrase. This comes up a lot because it’s a really common problem.In the old days, all you needed to do to rank well was to get a lot of links to your site with the same anchor text. Now, penguin effectively incinerated that. Google put out a filter that said “Let’s have a look and see who’s trying to manipulate a site by having too many anchor text links” and they call a certain percentage, perhaps in their algorithm. Now what happened is a lot of websites disappeared and only by adding new links and removing the bad links can you actually repair this. So here is the step by step plan:The Step-by-step Process on How To Fix this ProblemStep 1) Step number one, hook up your Google Webmaster Tools and see what links you’ve currently got. Step 2) Step number two, if you see site-wide links that are pointing to your site with the same anchor text, see if you can have them change the anchor text or remove those links. Step 3) If you can’t, step three is to disavow those links. Step 4) Step four is to do a keyword research report. Step 5) And the next step is to create amazing content around the related phrases that are not containing the keyword that you’ve got too many links for. I actually duplicated my normal LeadPage and then I set it up with different tags in my OfficeAutoPilot system for Facebook so that I know where the traffic is coming from and then I just click the Facebook install widget, which is inside LeadPages. This one is about if you've got too much going on. Too much to deal with? Working with business owners each week, I commonly see this. People have too much. Too busy, too many projects, too many things to do. Well the simple process here is to stop, take three deep breaths, and just work out what the most important thing is. In previous videos I've mentioned the One Thing method, which is a brain dump, and to get to the most important thing.Photo credit Learn to delete My favorite thing is a continuing process of deletion. Delete, eliminate, purge, remove. Get rid of stuff, and do it in every part of your life. Do it with your clothes, do it with your hard drive on your computer. Have a look through your car. Clear out your trunk. Have a look through the glove box, go through your cupboards. Take stock of everything in your life and have a look and see if there's something that you don't need anymore, so that you can simplify. And when you connect with the thing that is truly important and you give that your focus, that's when things open up and that's when things become easier. So really think that you need to be having less inputs, and less things to focus on now, and just bring it back to simplicity. Your challenge So the action step for today is simply: go and purge, clean, delete or eliminate something, whether it's a household thing, whether it's a computer thing, whether it's a team thing, whether it's a process or a system, or even just cleaning out your refrigerator.
