My guest this week is a huge part of the reason why people are abandoning traditional cable outlets in favor of streaming content. Carolyn Newman was the Executive In Charge of Development and Production at Amazon Studios before getting scooped up as the Vice President of Scripted Programming at Entertainment One (The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead). Now at Entertainment One she tells me she's using her experience to find and develop great content with female-driven stories. There's been a big push in recent years to have more women working in front of and behind the camera, but Newman says it's not enough. She wants to do more. She wants the gritty, unusual, unique stories that reflect the diversity of women in the world and she finds them in books, short stories and through established writers. Orchard Farm productions is a TV production company created by Mila Kunis, Lisa Sterbakov, Susan Curtis and Cami Curtis. Together these woman have developed and sold 12 TV shows since the company was formed in 2014 and have several more currently in development.  I had the pleasure of interviewing Lisa about her role in the company and how she balances such a demanding job with two young kids.  She gives us a unique behind the scenes look at what goes into the making of a TV show from start to finish. Courtney Thorne-Smith stars in the new Hallmark Mystery Site Unseen: An Emma Fielding Mystery. Emma (Thorne-Smith) is a brilliant, dedicated, and driven archaeologist who discovers artifacts that have been lost for hundreds of years--and she's very, very good at it. Emma has recently unearthed evidence of a possible 17th century coastal Maine settlement that predates Jamestown, one of the most significant archaeological finds in years. But the dead body she uncovers on the site pushes Emma into a different kind of exploration. Her dig site is suddenly in jeopardy of being shut down, due to the meddling of local treasure-hunters and a second suspicious murder. I've had the song "Stay" stuck in my head since interviewing Lisa Loeb. It was a juggernaut hit for her in the 90's and she followed it up with a string of hits from her album of the same name.  Lisa was a trailblazer at the time because she was the first independent pop musician to have a Number 1 single while not signed to a recording contract. The music industry has changed a lot over the years and so has Lisa. She explains how motherhood has changed her perspective on music and her priorities. Being the only unhealthy couple in a town full of yogis and kaleheads isn't easy. Chris and I talk about why we feel so unhealthy and challenge each other to do something about it.  How do parents find the time to work out?
