Just Add Magic stars Kelly (Olivia Sanabia) and her two best friends Darbie (Abby Donnelly) and Hannah (Aubrey Miller) as they stumble upon a mysterious cookbook. They quickly discover that the recipe’s inside are far from ordinary. They are magical! The girls realize they need to use them to release Kelly’s grandmother from a powerful curse. What struck me most when I met the girls is how much they have grown up! Courtney Peldon from Aqua Talent has been working in Hollywood since she was a toddler. She's been on hit TV shows, and in several roles behind the camera as well. Now she's found her home as a talent agent, pitching some of the top working actors today (myself included!) She tells me how making it in Hollywood today is different than in years past. I'm sure a lot of moms will agree that motherhood changes you. It changes your hormones, your outlook on life, and in some cases your career. For me, becoming Channing's mother changed me in ways I'm still discovering. And when I get the chance to talk to a new mom it's exciting for me to hear how their journey is unfolding. My guest this week is my friend Olivia Pearson who gave birth to her first child last August. Olivia started acting when she was a child. She loved it and was good at it. But in recent years has grown weary of the acting grind (haven't we all?) and has refocused her energy on other fulfilling things in her life. Most noticeably for me, her passion for Bernie Sanders. Olivia was an avid Bernie supporter and did everything she could to help get him elected. I wanted to know her motivation behind that, how her view of politics has changed since becoming a mother and what's been the most surprising thing she's learned so far about motherhood. Autumn Reeser (Sully, The OC, Entourage) is a working actress and mom of 2. She also travels a lot for work so as you can imagine there's a lot of juggling going on. We talk about auditions when you have to take your kids in the room. For some actors it's no big deal, but others find it very distracting and hard to focus. So when you're a mom with no child care in place, what do you do? She talks about the challenges of raising very physical boys. It's a different ball game than with girls!
