 Ep. 56 Comic-Con, Challen Cates & Wine! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:52:00

I just got back from an epic and quick adventure to Comic-Con! I might still be hungover. But more importantly my guest is the beautiful and funny mama actor Challen Cates. You will recognize her from Passions, Modern family, and Mrs. Knight on Nickelodeon's show Big Time Rush. It was one of the longest running live-action shows in Nick's history. Nice! Challen shares what it's like working as a series regular on such a popular show, while trying to raise 2 young kids.  But she did it! And now she's revealing that her kids are getting into acting as well.. One of my favorite parts about talking to Challen was hearing about her wine making! She produces a Pinot Noir that is devine! If you're into wine and awesome Hollywood moms, you will be into this show. As if being an actor isn't hard enough, add being a film producer and a mom to that list. My guest this week is indie producer Jennie Schwartzman and she's being open and honest about the challenges indie filmmakers face. She started her own production company with her husband and they focus on real, meaningful stories for their films. We talk about what it means to be a family friendly movie versus a Christian film, how film festivals are still the best place to market your movie, and staying true to your faith while still flexing your creative muscle.  Ep. 47 Jazz and Music's Effects on Kids! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

I'm infinitely jealous of people who know how to play an instrument. My friend Lolly Allen is a professional vibraphonist and jazz musician. So cool! She writes, sings, and plays her own music. She talks about how her love for a toy as a child got her interested in music, and how her parents fostered that interested throughout college and beyond. This is a great example of a woman who is making her own way in the predominately masculine world of jazz and carving her own path. Plus we talk about the state of music in general today, my current audition situation, and a special guest stops by.  Ep. 46 Women in Film, Internet Trolls, play date rejection and Expressing Motherhood | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:54:00

Don't you wish you could sit center stage and tell everyone what motherhood is really like? That's exactly what Expressing Motherhood is all about! Co-Founder Lindsay Kavet sits down to tell me the inspiration behind Expressing Motherhood and how it became a nationally recognized show.  And we talk about Women in Film, they hyphenate moms, raising kids in the city of Hollywood, internet trolls (fuck 'em!), and why producers cast the same leading women over and over again instead of looking for more realistic faces. It's the biggest pain in my ass LOL Plus I ask for acting class suggestions (hit me up!). Follow @MIHpodcast on Twitter & Periscope, and Motherhood in Hollywood on Facebook and Instagram. As a huge fan of Bob's Burgers I couldnt' wait to to interview one of the hilarious writers behind the show, Wendy Molyneux, who also happens to be an awesome mom. We talk about why farts are funny, what it was like working on a daytime TV show with Megan Mullally, and why TV pilots are so damn hard to produce. Plus we break down the recent Kardashian drama, and reveal the one feminist thing women can do in the bathroom to take charge.  Ep. 44 Fresh off the Boat, Feminism & Motherhood, Writers Room Revelations | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:11:00

I love hearing stories from moms who've taken an unusual path to their career. Rachna Fruchbom definitely has that story. She worked for George Clooney's production company before becoming a SAHM. Then through her desire to stay creative, landed a plum job working as a writer on Parks and Rec.  Now she's a writer for the popular sitcom  Fresh Off The Boat and is learning to find her voice in TV Comedy. She's pregnant right now with her second child and still found the time to come be funny with me on my podcast. Moms are amazing! She also reveals what every actor should know happens after you audition.  Plus what it's like working with Amy Poehler, Chris Pratt and Aziz Ansari. It's dope yo. So excited to share this episode with you!

Ep. 43 National Infertility Awareness Week With Journalist Wendy Burch | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:06:00

It's National Infertility Awareness Week and we need to talk about it! I know there are thousands of women suffering with the pain, and stigma of infertility so I invited award-winning journalist Wendy Burch to share her story. Wendy is a reporter for KTLA news in Los Angeles and had a very public struggle with infertility. One that she's found empowering and now hopes will encourage other women to be more proactive in family planning. Wendy has appeared on several episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and is great friends with Cheryl Tiegs, and Lisa Vanderpump. She also has a vivacious personality that immediately grabs your attention, which is why I love her so much. In typical MIH style, this episode is meant to give you hope, direction, and most of all make you laugh.
