Ep. 69 Louie, Better Things, Baskets Exec. Producer Blair Breard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:51:00

Louis CK's producing partner Blair Breard talks with me about working on some of today's most prolific comedies. Some her shows are Better Things, One Mississippi (Amazon) , Baskets, and Louie on FX. I'm so in love with Better Thing starring Pamela Adlon on FX. It beautifully captures what it's like to be a mom and actress in LA (hey that's me!) Blair and Louis CK have been working together since they met working on Pootie Tang and are now changing the face of comedy! We talk about the subtle changes in the number of women producing films and tv shows today, and what it's like for a female producer to start a family versus men. If you're a writer, producer or content creator or even an actress, you will walk away from this episode feeling inspired!  Ep. 68 Bravo's Stefanie Fair Talks Reality TV, Wild Orchid and Motherhood | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

Stefanie Fair is a former child star (Golden Girls, Blossom) and 1/3 of the 90's pop band Wild Orchid (Renee Sandstrom & Fergie!). She stops by to tell us why she chose to pursue a family after years of touring in her music group.  She was in the trenches with groups like Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, and 98 Degrees but Wild Orchid never rose to the same level of success. No idea why because they sounded amazing! But the music biz is ridiculous sometimes. Where she did find success was in being a mom to her four kids. She reflects on her time in that 90's pop world, the current state of music, and what she sees for her music future. Stefanie also talks about some of the blowback she got after appearing on Bravo's There Goes The Motherhood and that sometimes reality TV isn't as real as you think.  Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Motherhood in Hollywood Follow me on Twitter @MIHpodcast IB/FB search Motherhood in Hollywood And stay up-to-date on all things parenting in Hollywood on my website motherhoodinhollywood.com

Ep. 67 Creator of Shimmer and Shine on Nick Jr. Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:48:00

Nick Jr.'s Shimmer and Shine creator and executive producer is an awesome mama! Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz is the showrunner for my daughter's favorite show. My reasons for having her on as a guest are purely selfish. I wanted to know how she created a popular animated series, and still manages to be a mom of 2 young kids. Animation is a world I don't know much about but am fascinated by. She tells me how she worked her way up from an internship at Nickelodeon and proved herself to be a top notch producer. She also tells me why she decided to make Shimmer and Shine so culturally diverse which something you don't see a lot of in animated shows for kids. We also talk about her musical influences on the show, what another animated series she's drawn to, and how her kids feel about having characters named after them. So cool!  Ep. 66 Mayim Bialik on STEM Education | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:26:00

Actress and mom Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory, Blossom, Beaches) is my guest this week! She tells me what it's like balancing life as a mom of 2 and starring on a huge CBS show. Mayim is also very much like her character on Big Bang. She's a neuroscientist and big supporter of STEM education. We sat down at an event with Fisher-Price as they launched their new line of STEM toys. The Code-a-pillar , the Smart Scan Color Chameleon Color Bingo, and the Smart Scan Word Dash Hide and Seek are all toys from Fisher-Price that help develop STEM skills. As technology advances, so must our toys! These toys teach preschoolers communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration, as well as reading, writing and arithmetic. Mayim also talks to me about her website GrokNation.com and why it's not your typical mommy blog.  BONUS! Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh Jenngings | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:09:00

We all saw Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings crush it on the beach volleyball court this summer at the Rio Games. She and her partner April Ross took home the bronze medal, adding to her collection which includes 3 gold medals. But when I interviewed her recently at an The Honest Company fall party, she told me the one thing she’s most proud of is her family. In addition to being a world-class athlete, Kerri is a mom of three. She tells me her heart is in being a mommy to her kids. She says when she won the bronze medal in Rio, her kids said, “Mommy we didn’t win gold!” And rather than defending her bronze medal, she used that opportunity to teach them about what it means to win at every level. Even though gold was her goal, she was still proud of the work she and her partner did to win bronze. She says her family is a big part of her life and has been supportive of her career in every way.  They talk about the importance of healthy competition in her house which is a lesson a lot of us could use. And I had to ask her what her plans are for the future, now that her volleyball partner is taking a break to start a family. She says she’s weighing her options, and could soon start searching for a new partner. And I for one cannot wait to see her back in action. Now, Kerri is adding one more title to her name. She’s the first Honest Company Ambassador. The Honest Company was founded by actress Jessica Alba to offer eco-friend, beautiful and affordable baby products. The brand has now expanded into household items, personal care and feminine care products just to name a few. We are big fans of Honest in this house. The natural wipes, eco-friendly detergent and cleaner are staples in our house  I’ve also used the bubble bath, shampoo and hair detangler on Chan since she started official bath time.  Kerri says she was thrilled to be asked to be an Ambassador for The Honest Co because it’s very i

Ep. 65 Raising Girls, Hollywood Parenting, and Midwest Values with Erin Ziering | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:46:00

My friend Erin Ziering met her prince charming a few years ago in Hollywood (of course) and says it changed her life forever. The mom of 2 is married to actor Ian Ziering (Sharknado, Beverly Hills 90210) and walked away from life as a traveling nurse, to become a Hollywood mom. But don't mistake her for someone who's riding on her husbands fame. She is creating her own path in this industry with her blog AtHomeWithTheZierings.com, working with brands, and discovering her parenting style through trial and error. She blogs very openly about their lives, working together as parents, and what's it's raising girls in LA. It's a heartfelt blog from a real Hollywood mom.  Bonus! Brooke Burke-Charvet on Motherhood, Traveling, and Car Seat Safety | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:09:00

Mom, host, and philanthropist Brooke Burke-Charset talks to me about her journey through motherhood in the entertainment industry. We were at the Red CARpet Safety event at Sony Pictures helping to raise awareness about car seat safety. Brooke is a mom of four kids and was the host of Wild On on the E! Network when she found out she was pregnant with her first child. She tells me how much she learned from her first to her fourth. And that sometimes it truly is a challenge to balance everything. Sometimes she has to miss her kids events for work, something all working moms can relate to. But just being open and having a conversation with them so they know why you have to miss out sometimes, it's the best way to handle it.  Ep. 58 Director/Casting Director Risa Bramon Garcia | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:11:00

Director/Casting director Risa Bramon Garcia has so much knowledge about this industry I want to squeeze it all out of her and soak it up like a sponge!  But instead, I just asked her a lot of questions about how she got started in casting, her mentor Oliver Stone, her passion for directing and producing, and why she's found creative peace as co-founder of the BGB Acting Studio. She's cast TV shows like Roseanne, CSI: NY, and Masters of Sex. Her film credits are as long as the sea is deep with iconic films like JFK, Natural Born Killers, Christmas Vacation, Speed, and Twister...to name a few.  She just wrapped up casting Gilmore Girls: A year in the life with fellow casting director Jami Rudofsky.  And somewhere in there she found time to direct 200 Cigarettes, and be a mom of two.  Risa was very open about her struggles with infertility and how not having a family was never an option for her in this business.  She shares insights on how she had a lot of help finding the balance between work and family while staying on top of her field. Plus I share my embarrassing mom friend moment at BlogHer. Seriously, I'm ridiculous.  Thanks for listening!
