 172. Sunflower Silliness: a bedtime story and guided meditation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:44

James and Julia have a sunflower garden. As they go through their day they notice the flowers face different directions. What is going on? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Sunflower Silliness" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:28 Sunflower Silliness Excerpt: Sunlight slipped through the drapes in Julia’s room, and she opened her eyes. Julia hopped out of bed and headed downstairs to eat her breakfast. James was already there. He looked up as she walked into the kitchen and asked. “Did you look at our garden?”   “Not yet," Julia replied. “Why?”   “Look and see!” her little brother said. So Julia walked over to the window to look out at the garden and understood why James felt so excited. Their sunflowers had grown tall and though they were still green, now they all had buds on them. “Wow! Look at our sunflowers!” she said. “Did you notice they are all facing the same direction?” she asked James.   “Yeah. I wonder why they’re doing that.” He said. Julia went back to the table to have breakfast. She and James had big plans today. They were going to have a checkers tournament. “I think it would be nice to set up the checkerboard near the sunflowers.”   “That’s a good idea.” James said.  479. A Birthday Search: a soothing story and meditation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:04

Kelly the Computer helps plan a wonderful birthday party! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:55 A Birthday Search Excerpt: A woman stepped into the room where the family computer was kept. Kelly the Computer was sleeping on the big desk in the corner of the room. The woman sat down in front of Kelly and gently tickled her keyboard to wake her up.    Kelly yawned and awoke as her screen slowly brightened.  She silently greeted the woman, happy to be able to help her. Kelly wondered what the woman might need from her today. Almost every day, the woman needed to use the email services on Kelly’s hard drive. Often, the woman used programs installed in Kelly to write letters or other documents. And sometimes, the woman just liked to play the games that were inside Kelly. Kelly always liked that, because it was fun to watch the woman smile while she played.   But Kelly’s favorite thing to do was help the woman find things on using her internet search engines. Kelly never stopped feeling amazing by how much wonderful information she could help the woman find. Once Kelly had heard the woman talking to someone about what she called “the old days,” before Kelly existed. The woman said that in those days, people didn’t have computers in their house and could not search for information or pictures so easily. It was very hard for Kelly to imagine what that would have been like! Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with warmth and love as you send your loving energy to the world.  171. Changing Patterns: a meditation and story for your bedtime routine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:49

Brandon the block likes to follow a pattern in his art but today the kids are creating something new. Will he like it? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Changing Patterns" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:20 Changing Patterns Excerpt: The pattern blocks sat in their usual spots, all neatly placed according to size and shape in their container. Brandon the purple triangle block smiled. He felt contented. Everything was just as he liked it: neat, orderly, and all the blocks ready to follow the directions on whatever pattern the kids picked. As he wondered what their next pattern would be, the lid to the container opened and light spilled inside. It was time to play! Brandon watched carefully to see what pattern the kids would pick, but they left the direction cards in their spot.   Brandon felt confused. What could the kids be doing? All the blocks were already organized nicely. The purple triangle block watched as the kids took out large, red rectangle blocks and stood them on their side, in many different patterns. None of the patterns were like anything Brandon had seen before. Now the purple triangle block felt a bit worried. This was something new. He was unsure what would happen next. So he watched. The big orange squares were next, and the kids set them on top of the red blocks in some places and not in others. All the blocks were talking, wondering what was happening. Brandon started to feel upset. Then he remembered his deep dragon breaths. He took a deep breath in and out and watched carefully. The kids were smiling and the red and orange blocks seemed more curious than upset. He took another deep breath in and out feeling better. “Ok,” he thought. “Let’s see what’s going to happen. Everyone seems to be happy and safe. Maybe the kids have something really fun planned.” He still wasn’t sure how they could make anything without a pattern.  477. Moving Day: a mindful story and relaxation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:13

Grace is moving to a new home on Ahway Island, but is worried about making new friends. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 9:13 Moving Day Excerpt: It was a cold winter morning but Grace had hardly noticed. Grace was just too excited to even think about the cold. Today, Grace’s family was moving to a new house!   Grace was a little sad, of course. She had been happy in her previous home where she had lots of friends. But mom and dad told her that Ahway Island was a wonderful place to live and that she would make lots of new friends. Plus, she could still visit her old friends sometimes.   Grace squirmed in her seat in the train.   “Mom, will the moving truck be at our house when we get there?”   “No, honey, but it’ll get there soon after we arrive.”   “How much longer will the train take before we get there?”   “Not too long,” said Dad, “just a few more minutes.”   “This is a great train, Jun,” said Mom. “What do they call it around here? The uh, ‘Sparkling Train,’ is that right?”   “That’s right, said Grace’s dad. “It goes all around the island.” Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.  170. The New Tunnel: a calming story and guided relaxation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:56

The brand new tunnel is ready! How will the train like it? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The New Tunnel" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:12 The New Tunnel Excerpt: It was time for the sunset roll, and the sparkling train pulled out of the station and headed towards the forest. The train thought about the tunnel under the forest. Eager for it to be finished, the train had many questions. “How big is the tunnel? Will it change my route? How dark is the tunnel?” Every time the train passed by the construction crew, the train thought of its questions. “How big is the tunnel? Will it change my route? How dark is the tunnel?” After what felt like a million days, the sparkling train passed by the tunnel site and could tell it was finished! The train drove by slowly to see all the little details. It could see that the tunnel was long, and the entrance was wide enough to be comfortable. Along the top of the tunnel the sparkling train could see some clear panels that allowed sunlight through. Phew, the train was happy to see that. It had felt a little worried that the tunnel would be too dark. Mounds of earth surrounded the tunnel, and the train could see ivy beginning to sprout. Little purple flowers decorated the entrance to the tunnel. As the train rolled away from the site, it smiled. The tunnel looked fantastic from the outside. Then the train thought of the questions, “How big is the tunnel? Will it change my route? How dark is the tunnel?” and realized that two had already been answered. Now the train wondered if its route would be changing. Then one more question popped into the train’s mind. “When will I be able to drive through the tunnel?” Maybe the train would get to drive through it on the next run.  475. Finding Frost: a calming meditation and story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:24

After breakfast Allie looks around for something to do. She notices something icy on the family room window. She never noticed it before. What could it be? Where else will she find it? Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:18 Finding Frost Excerpt: Allie helped her mom and dad clean up the kitchen, after enjoying the food they had made together. Now that breakfast was done, Allie wandered into the family room wondering what to do today. She walked over to her bookshelf. It held so many fantastic stories. Allie touched the books and smiled as she remembered some of her favorites. Maybe later, Allie thought. She liked to read her books after dinner. She loved listening to her mom and dad read to her as she snuggled under her comfy blanket. Yes, she would definitely ask her parents for a story, later. Allie stepped over to the window to look outside.   Snowflakes drifted slowly down to the ground, occasionally tickled off course by a winter breeze. They swirled and twirled before floating downward once more. Allie moved the curtains to the side so she could watch the graceful snow. As she did, she noticed something in the corners of the window. The corners of the glass seemed foggy. Allie looked even closer and discovered little snowflakes glued to the window. As she watched, little snowflakes formed where her breath had met the glass. Allie stepped back. From there, the pattern of tiny flakes looked like delicate flowers. She gently touched an icy petal on the window. The little snowflakes melted underneath the warmth of her finger.   “Mom?” Allie asked, “What is this on the window?” Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.  168. Happy Hiding: a soothing story and meditation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:47

Everyone loves hide and seek! Where will Dragon find Henrietta Hippo and Oliver the elephant? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Happy Hiding" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:29 Happy Hiding Excerpt: The eager dragon peered out from the cozy cave and watched as the sun settled down to rest for the night. The hmmm from the sparkling train faded into the distance, and the dragon knew it was time to visit the sanctuary again. The dragon stepped outside the cave, stretched its wings wide, then lifted up off the ground. Hovering above the forest, the dragon looked for the train’s tracks and then followed them once again to visit Oliver the elephant and Henrietta the hippo. The dragon carefully landed next to a peaceful pool of water and admired this magnificent new land. Henrietta floated up from her spot in the pool and Oliver came running over.   “What should we do today?” The little elephant asked eagerly.   “Why don’t we play hide and seek?” the little hippo suggested. “Do you know how to play?” she asked the dragon.   The dragon shook its head, unsure of what hide and seek was.   “That’s ok.” Oliver said, “We’ll teach you.” So the little elephant and hippo explained how to play hide and seek. “Do you want to hide first, or seek first?” Oliver asked. The dragon took a deep dragon breath in and out and the flames showed the dragon covering its eyes. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating on a cloud, and relax into the feeling of lightness.  473. Snowy Memories: a soothing story and meditation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:19

Dragon wakes up to a snowy forest. Everything is so peaceful you can hear the icicles drip. Dragon decides to go for a walk to explore. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 9:12 Snowy Memories Excerpt: As the sun barely peeked over the horizon the sound of gentle snoring floated out of Dragon’s cave. Slowly, the lovely light flowed across the land. Shadows of the bare trees fell across the snowy forest floor. The floor of the cozy cave warmed as sunshine spilled into Dragon’s home and gradually rose up onto Dragon’s mossy bed. The gentle snoring of the little dragon stopped as the sunlight reached Dragon’s eyelids. Dragon blinked and squinted into the morning sun. With a smile, Dragon stretched and sat up. Dragon took a deep dragon breath, in and out, (deep breath) to get ready for a wonderful morning. As Dragon’s feet touched the warm floor, Dragon sighed happily, feeling grateful. The morning sun had already warmed the floor, even though it was a cool winter morning. Dragon stood up and walked back to the cool spring pool in the cave, wanting a refreshing drink of water. Sunshine sparkled on the rippling surface as Dragon scooped up a bit to drink. Feeling invigorated, Dragon looked towards the entrance to the cave and blinked. Outside everything was white. Dragon blinked again. It was so bright. Dragon smiled, and took a deep dragon breath, in and out, (deep breath) enjoying the peaceful scene. Everything always seemed to be so peaceful after a snowfall. Of course the world had been tucked in under a fluffy blanket of snow. As Dragon watched, sunlight sparkled off the piles of snowflakes. Then Dragon heard a drip, drip, drip, drop. Dragon heard it again, drip, drip, drip, drop. Curious, Dragon looked up, just as a drop of water fell with a splash, on Dragon’s nose. Dragon shook the water off, feeling a little surprised. Then Dragon realized what had happened and stepped outside the cave for a better look. The snow above the entrance was melting in the warm sun. As the melted snow dripped towards the ground, the cold air caught the water drops, forming icicles. Dragon took a deep dragon breath, in and out, (deep breath). The flames tickled the little icicles warming them until they had completely changed into water once more. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating on a cloud, and relax into the feeling of lightness.  167. Making Music: a meditation and relaxing story for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:31

Rogelio, Brianna and Helen are working on their play. Today they are exploring music. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Making Music" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:46 Making Music Excerpt: It had been a while since Rogelio, Brianna, and Helen had met in the park and decided to write a play. Rogelio thought about it and smiled. All three of them had such different ideas. It was amazing that they had figured out what to do. But because of those differences, he had a feeling that their play would be a huge hit. Rogelio was looking forward to their meeting at the park today. He looked up and noticed Helen walking towards him and waved excitedly. Helen smiled broadly and waved back. Then Rogelio saw Brianna headed their way and waved at her too. She was also smiling and waving. Rogelio felt excited and eager to see what they came up with today.   Once Brianna made her way to their meeting place under the big oak tree, Helen said, “Ok, last time we decided that our play would be about a dragon living in the forest with the animals. The dragon has a special jewel to communicate with everything, even cars and plants. We also wanted to add music and write a script, with some parts where the audience can choose. What new ideas did you guys have?”   Rogelio said. “I’ve been thinking about the music for our play. I brought some instruments!” Rogelio had his backpack with him. He pulled out a little keyboard, a little hand drum, and an instrument case.   “What’s in the case?” Brianna asked.   “I’ll show you.” Rogelio replied. He opened it up and inside there was a ukulele.  470. Sudden Snow: a kids’ mindful tale and relaxation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:53

It's a surprise autumn snow! Sydney Snow Plow learns from Sam that snow sometimes falls before wintertime. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:00 Sudden Snow Excerpt: With a gentle rumble the large garage door slowly rolled up. As sunlight spilled into the room, Sydney the little snowplow yawned. Outside, red, orange, and yellow leaves tumbled past, propelled by the wind. With each gust, leaves swirled and danced by. Sydney noticed that the trees still held quite a few leaves. That was unusual. When his garage door opened the snowplow rarely saw leaves. When Sydney was out plowing, the trees were completely bare. And the only green trees that Sydney ever saw were pine and fir trees. As Sydney watched and wondered, a large cloud floated past the sun, casting a shadow into the garage. More and more clouds floated towards the large cloud. Beams of sunlight lit the ground like spotlights as the clouds coasted closer and closer together.   It was then that the snowplow noticed the people. They hurried past, bundled up and looking at the sky with worried expressions. Sydney wondered what they were so concerned about. There was just a bit of wind and leaves. Nothing to worry about. Just to be sure, the snowplow followed their gaze up to the sky once more. Now, clouds completely covered the sun. They had formed an enormous fluffy blanket that stretched across the sky. The little snow plow smiled, imagining the sun wrapped up in the cozy blanket of clouds. Then it happened. A big puffy snowflake drifted down to the ground. Another flake followed, but it was scooped up by a leaf, blown by a gust of wind. Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.  166. Anything Is Possible: a kid’s mindful story and guided relaxation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:20

Chance the cardboard box is happy to be part of an adventure with the kids, and to relax with the kitty. Usually he just delivers stuff. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Anything Is Possible” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:16 Anything Is Possible Excerpt: The little kitty stretched, feeling refreshed by a nap. Noticing the movement, Chance the cardboard box woke up with a smile. After such a long journey, that nap felt just right. The little kitty arched its back and hopped out of the cardboard box. Now Chance wondered what was next. He got his answer when two little kids zipped around the corner.   “A box!” The little girl said. “I know just what to do!”   “I have an idea too,” the little boy said.   “We can take turns,” the little girl suggested.   “OK, play rock, scissors, paper to figure out whose idea is first?” the boy added.   “OK,” said the little girl.  468. A Tasty Treat: a children’s bedtime story and meditation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:53

Dragon enjoyed the popcorn Trenton the Tractor shared, and returns to the farm for some more. Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:54 A Tasty Treat Excerpt: A cool breeze danced around the colorful trees, swirling red, orange, and yellow leaves off their branches. They drifted along, spinning in circles, this way and that, before they finally reached the ground. The breeze continued on, through the enchanted forest, and into Dragon’s cozy cave.   Dragon rested, nose out from under the colorful quilt. The cool breeze wafted over and tickled it. Dragon felt the cool air and shook the blanket right off. Awake now, Dragon hopped out of bed. There was so much fun to be had, and it was past time to get started.   Dragon picked up the empty corn husk and smiled. Trenton the tractor had offered Dragon more popcorn and so Dragon was going to get some more to share. Leaves flew up into the air as Dragon skipped down the path. Dragon knew the kids would love to watch the popcorn popping, and the animals would love eating the popcorn. Picking up the pace, Dragon hurried down the path to the farm. Then Dragon smiled with an excellent idea. Flying would be faster, so, with a hop, skip and a jump, Dragon opened wings wide and flew up into the sky. As Dragon rose through the trees, the colors of the forest caught Dragon’s eye. Just below the clouds Dragon could see the entire enchanted forest. A sea of red, orange and yellow leaves danced in the fall breeze below. It really was enchanting. Dragon felt grateful for the choice to fly this morning. Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Good Friends" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 5:51 Good Friends Excerpt: The happy dragon peered out from the cozy cave and watched as the sun settled down to rest for the evening. The hmmm from the sparkling train faded away into the distance. The dragon smiled, ready to visit the sanctuary again. Stepping outside the cave, the dragon stretched its wings wide, then lifted up off the ground. Hovering above the forest, the dragon followed the train’s tracks once again to visit Oliver the elephant and Henrietta the Hippo. The dragon carefully landed next to the peaceful pool of water. Henrietta emerged and smiled at the little dragon, while Oliver hurried over.   “Isn’t it peaceful today?” The little hippopotamus asked.   “It sure is.” The little elephant responded.   “I’m a bit hungry. Would you like to join me for a walk?” Henrietta asked. Water rolled off of her back and sides, as she slowly climbed out of the pool.   “That sounds relaxing.” Oliver said. “How about you dragon?” The dragon smiled and nodded.   “Great!” The hippo said. “I’ll show you where I find my night time snack.” And Henrietta led the way.  466. Bubbles in the Bowl: a relaxation and story for your nap time routine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:54

Gavin Goldfish wants to communicate with his family so he tries blowing bubbles at them! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 9:15 Bubbles in the Bowl Excerpt: A warm light settled on the little sandcastle as Gavin the Goldfish swam around his tank. Noticing the flickering light, the little goldfish stopped to look towards the fireplace. Sure enough, there was a cozy fire going. It must have just been lit. The flames leaped up around the carefully stacked logs. Gavin swayed his long flowing tail from side to side to keep him glued to that spot. The little goldfish loved to watch the flames dance. They were so graceful and fluid, much like the seaweed in his tank. But the seaweed didn’t glow or pop. Gavin loved to hear the crackle of sparks as they flew up into the air, like glittery popcorn.   While the little goldfish watched the cozy fire, he noticed a fire extinguisher resting next to the fireplace. He felt happy his people were being safe with the fire. Gavin circled his tank slowly, watching as the flames shortened and relaxed until they were just a warm glow around the logs. Before long, there was nothing left but glowing embers in the fireplace.   Gavin shivered as the temperature in his tank cooled slightly, without the warmth from the fire. He wanted to let his people know he felt cold. But how would he tell them? After pacing the tank, back and forth, back and forth, the little goldfish came up with an idea. Gavin swam up to the water’s surface and took a big gulp of air. Then he quickly swam over to the thermometer in the tank. The little goldfish blew a barrage of bubbles at the glass. “pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.” Mom heard and walked over to the tank.  169. Plucky Pandas: a kid’s mindful story and guided relaxation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:12

Huan the panda needs some help climbing a tall bamboo, but he wants to do it himself. His friend Daiyu tries to help him understand that asking for help is ok. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Plucky Pandas" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:36 Plucky Pandas Excerpt: Soft grey skies covered the bamboo forest. Huan the Panda opened his eyes. The little panda smiled as he looked up through the towering plants. Their bright green leaves stood out against the dull sky. Huan stretched and watched for his friend Daiyu. The little panda thought he saw something moving towards him in the distance. Huan watched carefully. Was it Daiyu? If it was, she was taking her sweet time. Huan concentrated, trying to figure it out, when suddenly, “Good morning Huan!” The little panda bear jumped up feeling startled, and turned around.   “Oh! Good morning Daiyu. You surprised me.” Huan said.   “What were you watching so closely?” Daiyu asked peering off in the same direction Huan had been looking.   “I thought you were coming from that way. I guess it’s just the breeze.” Huan said, shrugging his shoulders.   “Must be.” Daiyu said. “I don’t see anything now.” A rumbling noise distracted the little panda and she looked back at Huan. “Are you hungry?” she asked.   “My tummy seems to think so.” Huan said rubbing his belly. “Time for breakfast.” Huan looked up at the bamboo and started to climb. The bamboo was slippery and Huan slowly slid back down to the ground. The little panda couldn’t reach the leaves.
