 496. Neighborhood Friends: a story and relaxation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:27

Callie feels a little shy when Anora, her new neighbor, invites her out to play, but she ends up having a wonderful time with new friends. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:52 Neighborhood Friends Excerpt: It was a bright winter afternoon on Ahway Island. Callie had spent the morning playing with her toys in her new bedroom. Callie’s family had just moved to their new house on Ahway Island, and most of the moving boxes were unpacked, including the boxes of Callie’s toys.    This was the first time Callie had a chance to play with her toys in her new bedroom, so she enjoyed letting her toys explore their new environment. She showed them the closet in her room, and the window that looked out to the backyard, and the shelf where they could sleep at night. She wanted to make sure they would all be comfortable in their new home.    Eventually, Callie’s parents called her out to the kitchen to eat lunch. Callie carefully put her toys away on the shelf and headed to the kitchen.    “Hi Callie,” said Jun, Callie’s dad. “Did you have fun playing in your new room?”    “Yes, daddy,” replied Callie. “I showed my toys my new room. I think they like it.” Today’s Meditation: Feel your muscles relax as you check in with your body from head to toe.  180. Sharing, Caring: a calming story and guided relaxation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:27

Gabby the flower delivery van is worried that the people are not feeling enough kindness, because she doesn't bring everyone gifts. Jamal an older and wiser delivery van helps her see kindness everywhere. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Sharing, Caring” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:59 Sharing, Caring Excerpt: Gabby waited eagerly to see what she would be delivering today. The flower delivery truck was parked next to an older flower truck named Jamal.  She felt so delighted, she began to talk at the flower truck next to her. Jamal looked at her puzzled.  She seemed to be carrying on without even expecting a response.  “I wonder what I’ll be delivering today? Maybe I’ll deliver red, yellow, and orange tulips for a birthday, or white and red roses for an anniversary.  Maybe I’ll deliver happy daffodils to help someone feel better, or a rainbow of flowers, just because. I’d better take a deep dragon breath, I’m a little over excited.”  So, she took a deep breath in and out Jamal smiled.  Gabby certainly was enthusiastic. After she finished her deep breath, she started talking again.  “It is so much fun!  I love to watch as people’s puzzled faces turn into smiles.  Without me how would people know they are loved?”  The little flower delivery truck felt very proud.   Jamal said, “You’re right. We do get to show people that others care about them, and I love making my deliveries too.  I’m pretty sure that people can show each other they care, without sending flowers.  We are just one of those ways.”   Gabby’s forehead wrinkled as she thought.  “I don’t think I’ve seen people show they care any other way.”   “Well, it’s just a thought. Maybe we can look, while we’re doing our first deliveries today, and see if we notice any other ways people show they care.”  Jamal said.  “After all, we both like seeing people light up with happiness, we’ll just get some bonus smiles.” Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with warmth and love as you send your loving energy to the world.  494. A Creative Mess: a calming nap time story for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:15

Helen and her friends Brianna and Rogelio are painting together, but painting can get messy. Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:19 A Creative Mess Excerpt: It was a peaceful weekend on Ahway Island. In the basement of one of the little houses in the neighborhood, Helen and her friends, Brianna and Rogelio, had decided to spend the afternoon painting together.   Helen stopped painting for a moment to admire her art. She was painting a picture of her house, her family, and her dog.  A big, bright orange sun lit up the upper right corner of the painting. Green grass dotted with flowers filled the yard in the front of the house. To the side of the house, Helen had painted her family and her dog. Painting people and animals was more difficult than houses and flowers, Helen thought. But still, she was pleased with how everything was looking.   She especially liked that her house in the painting had a bright red door. In real life, her house’s door was brown. Helen always wanted to have a bright red front door, but her parents didn’t think that was necessary. But that’s one reason why Helen liked painting so much — she could make things whatever color she wanted! If she wanted a blue sun and a purple moon, then she would paint a blue sun and a purple moon! Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe.  179. Do You Need Help? A kid’s mindful story and guided relaxation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:58

Riley and Rebel meet another raccoon, Rob. How will the three raccoons get along? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Do You Need Help?” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:10 Do You Need Help? Excerpt: Stars twinkled against the crisp blue background of the night sky.  The moon was full and bright.  Its light sparkled off the rippling waters of the stream.  Riley and Rebel watched as the moon’s reflection danced on the surface of the water.  They laughed as they noticed their faces wiggling in the rippling surface.  Then the raccoons saw another face.    “Hi!”    Rebel and Riley jumped and turned to see the newcomer.   “I’m Rob!”  The new raccoon said smiling widely at them.   “Oh Hi, I’m Riley and this is Rebel.” Riley said.     “What brings you to the stream?” Rob asked.    Rebel replied, “We were thinking about getting a snack, and so we figured we should wash up first.”     “That’s a good idea!” Rob said.  “Can I join you?”   “Sure,” Rebel said.  And the three raccoons bent over the rushing water to wash their paws.  One, two, Rebel dipped his front paws into the stream.  Three, four, Riley began to wash his paws.  Five, Rob dipped his front paw in the stream and allowed the water to flow over it.  Rebel and Riley looked at each other and then at Rob.  Lots of emotions tumbled through their minds as they realized that Rob only had three paws.  The two raccoons felt surprised, sad, and a little nervous at first.  “Would you like us to bring you a snack?  Rebel asked.  492. The Science Museum: a relaxing bedtime story for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:40

Owen, Allie, and Andy go to the Science Museum together, but they have to figure out what exhibit to see. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:24 The Science Museum Excerpt: It was a rainy morning on Ahway Island. But Andy, Allie, and Owen didn’t mind the rain one bit. After all, they were getting ready for a trip to the Ahway Island Science Museum! The children loved the museum and had each visited it many times with their families or with their classmates and teachers as a school outing. But this time was different – the three of them were going together as friends, and without any grownups! This was going to be fun and exciting!   Each of them had their own favorite area in the museum. Andy loved seeing the Brachiosaurus and the Tyrannosaurus Rex in the dinosaur exhibit and never got tired of looking at the fossils and bones in the collection. Allie usually wanted to see the airplanes and spaceships. No matter how many times she saw them, she always noticed something new she hadn’t noticed before. Owen’s favorite exhibit was all about the human body. This exhibit included interactive displays that Owen never got bored of exploring.   From all their previous trips to the museum, they knew they would have a better time if they prepared for their visit. So each child wore their most comfortable shoes. The museum was very big and they would have to walk a lot to see everything they wanted to see. They also each packed a backpack with water and snacks.   When the kids arrived at the museum, they entered through the giant main doors into the entrance foyer. As always, the first thing they did was to look around and admire the beautiful, enormous hall. The room had marble floors and was surrounded by pillars. There were beautiful paintings of animals and plants all over the walls and the ceiling. As many times as they had been in this room, they still found it beautiful and exciting.  178. The Dragon’s Tale: a soothing story and meditation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:19

Dragon has been busy preparing some paintings to share with the animals and now it's time for the party! What will the forest friends think of the art? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The Dragon's Tale” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:23 The Dragon's Tale Excerpt: The happy dragon had been busy getting ready for the forest animals to visit all day.  Today the dragon was going to share what the other lands were like.  The dragon wondered what the animals would think.  Would they understand all the wondrous things the dragon had seen and done?  Feeling excited, the dragon took a deep breath in and out wanting to feel nice and calm when the animals arrived.   Sachi the snake arrived first, slithering into the cave to save Tad the toad a spot where he could see.  Tad, and Tanner the toads followed, hop, hop, hopping in. Carrie the cardinal and Odin the owl flittered into the cave and settled on a perch the caring dragon had made, so that the birds had a place to rest.  The happy dragon watched as the entrance to the cave filled with all the dragon’s forest friends.  Bobby and Babette Bunny hopped in to find a spot, as Nutsy and Peanut the squirrels scampered in. Their mouths filled with nuts to snack on.  Freddie frog hopped along just ahead of George the turtle. Once George had settled in, then the guests were all there. A hum filled the air as all the animals began to talk. They felt eager to hear about the new lands the dragon had been exploring, and began sharing their guesses on what was about to happen.    The dragon smiled, and waited for the animals to settle back down.  Ready to show the animals what could be found in the other lands, the dragon had areas set up in the cave. The dragon waved the animals over to the first area. They saw paintings showing a land with sand and waves.  Another painting showed Benji the bucket and Paula the blue penguin next to a sand castle.  The animals moved along to the next area, and saw more paintings.  This time they showed ice, snow, and the sea.  Another painting showed Beau the beluga whale and Princely the penguin splashing into the cool sea.  Then the animals moved to the third area.  There were paintings of trees, grasses and pools of water. Another painting showed Henrietta the hippopotamus blowing bubbles next to Oliver the elephant showering her with water from his trunk. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.  490. Unpacking Fun: a calming short story for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:17

Callie's family just moved to a new house on Ahway Island, and Callie has fun helping to unpack boxes. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:26 Unpacking Fun Excerpt: It was a beautiful morning on Ahway Island. A beam of sunlight shone through the edges of the curtain in Callie’s bedroom, waking up the sleeping little girl. With a yawn, Callie opened her eyes and stretched. She smiled. Callie liked mornings, especially bright, sunny mornings.    But this morning, Callie felt just a little bit confused. Where was she? Everything felt a little…different. From her position in bed, she looked around the dimly-lit room and saw big cardboard boxes everywhere. Then she remembered – she was in her new house! That’s right! Yesterday, she and her family had moved into their new house on Ahway Island! And she had met a little girl named Anora!    Callie jumped out of bed, excited. Now she was remembering everything. Yesterday, the movers had brought in all the furniture and all the boxes from her old house and put them into her new house. But now, it was up to Callie and her family to unpack all the boxes and put everything away in its proper place in the new house.  177. Guessing Game: a meditation and relaxing story for children | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:58

Ian's schedule is missing. His friend Mike and his teacher help him out. What trick will Ian learn today? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Guessing Game” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:36 Guessing Game Excerpt: Ian settled down at his desk and noticed that his schedule was missing.  He began to feel nervous.  Ian liked to know what was going to happen so he could feel ready for his day.  Today he had no idea.  His friend Mike looked over and noticed that Ian seemed upset.   “What’s wrong Ian?” Mike asked.    “I don’t have my schedule.”  Ian replied.     “Oh, did you ask Mr. Smith?” Mike suggested.   “No.  If it’s not on my desk then Mr. Smith doesn’t have it.  He always puts my schedule out.” Ian said, starting to feel a little panicky.  “I need to take a deep dragon breath (deep breath).”  Ian felt a little better, though he still worried about what was happening today.     Mike asked, “Do you want to know what I do when I’m unsure about what is going on?”   Ian looked at Mike and said, “I thought you always knew what was happening.”    “Oh no.” Mike said with a smile.  “I guess.  I look and listen to find clues, then I guess.  Sometimes I’m right, sometimes, I’m wrong.  Do you want to try?”    “Ok,” Ian said hesitantly.  “ How do you find the clues?”     “I look and listen for changes.  Like Mr. Smith standing up at the board, he was at his desk.  Since he has changed spots, he may be giving us a clue.”  Ian eagerly waited for the clue his teacher was about to give. Mr. Smith got out his magnets.  Ian made his first guess.   “I’m guessing that Mr. Smith is about to give us directions.”  He said to Mike.  Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation.  488. Gloomy Day Fun: a relaxing story and meditation for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:16

It's a gloomy and rainy day on Ahway Island, but Serena and Salvador Sea Lion have a fun day anyway! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:41 Gloomy Day Fun Excerpt: It was a gloomy afternoon on Ahway Island. The sun was shining behind the clouds, of course, but nobody on the island could see it, because there were too many clouds in the way. It wasn’t really cold, but the air was heavy, as if the clouds wanted to rain down on the ground below but just weren’t quite ready yet. The world just felt a little dreary and as if everything was just…waiting for something. Serena and her friends were sleeping on some big rocks in the water not far from the shoreline. They had felt listless in the morning and had decided to take a nap. Now, the tide was starting to come in, and the water rose higher and higher against the rocks until at last, suddenly, a wave swept up over the rock and all over Serena’s body. Serena woke up with a start as the cold water hit her, her eyes opening wide. “Oof!” she said in surprise. But then she giggled. After all, she had thick, warm fur and the cold water didn’t bother her. “The tides coming in, everyone! Let’s play!” she said loudly.  176. It’s Too Dark: a kid’s mindful story and guided relaxation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:17

Bliss Blanket is afraid of the dark. Everything looks so different. What will help her relax? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “It's Too Dark" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:40 It's Too Dark Excerpt: Soft red-orange light filtered into the little girl’s room, as the sun slowly slipped out of sight. Bliss the blanket watched the sky change colors. The light blue sky grew darker and darker as the sun set. The little blanket felt happy that the door to the little girl’s room was open. Light trickled in from the hall as the girl’s room became dark.   Bliss felt afraid of the dark. The blanket worried about what could be hiding in the shadows. Now that the stars shined in the sky outside, the little girl’s room was dark except for the trickle of light from the hallway. Already Bliss began to worry, what was sitting in the corner? There was something square with sharp corners spilled across the floor. It seemed to take up the whole corner. The blanket took a deep dragon breath in and out and looked somewhere else. What was that on the table? There was something tall and skinny with a big pyramid on top. Bliss took another deep dragon breath in and out and looked somewhere else. There was a big lumpy thing sitting next to her, and something snaking around on the floor. The blanket took another deep dragon breath in and out. Then the little girl came in and turned on the light.   “You’ll never guess what I have!” she said.   Bliss wondered what she had, but was even more relieved that the little girl had turned the light on.   “I got a night light!” she said and plugged it into the wall. “Isn’t it pretty?” It was. “I’m going to turn off the lights so we can see it better.” Today’s Meditation: Today, enjoy the feeling of your body relaxing into the warm sand on a sunny beach. NapNap Crocodile gives a singing lesson to Freeda, Fernando, and Felicity the Peeper Frogs. Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:54 Found Friends Excerpt: It was a beautiful afternoon in the early spring. The birds sang in the trees of the bamboo forest. The air had been cool in the morning, but as the day wore on the air had become warmer and warmer as the sun shone down on the ground. NapNap Crocodile opened her eyes. She had been taking a long nap in the refreshing waters of her stream. But now, as the afternoon sun warmed her back, she stretched and yawned. “What a lovely nap!” she said to herself. “But now I really need to practice my singing for a while.” NapNap took a drink from the stream, and then cleared her throat a couple of times. “Do mi so do so mi do,” she sang.  175. Bumper Boats: a calming meditation and kid’s story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:41

The boats relax in the harbor, then the wind grows stronger. Soon the boats are rocking and rolling on the waves. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Bumper Boats" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:31 Bumper Boats Excerpt: Sunshine streamed down through the clouds, sparkling on the calm water. All the boats rested in their slips, waiting for their captains to take them out to sea for the day. Manny the motorboat waited patiently in his slip next to Wakely the waverunner. The little waverunner was still asleep, enjoying the peace of the harbor. Manny looked over to see if Teagan the tugboat and Sandy the sailboat were awake. Teagan was already out and about, seeing if anyone needed help. Sandy was up too, and she sighed deeply. “What’s up Sandy?” Manny asked. “It’s a beautiful morning.”   “The sunrise is beautiful. There’s just no wind. I won’t be able to sail with everything this calm.” Sandy said. Then she realized that this was the type of weather that Manny preferred. The sailboat smiled and said. “It is perfect weather for you, though. I guess I can trade off some windy days with calm days so that you have a chance for some fun too.”   The motorboat smiled back and said. “We do tend to like opposite types of weather.”   “Well, we both like sunshine. Maybe we can hope for a sunny day.” Sandy said.   As the clouds above drifted together, a shadow covered the boats. “I’m sure the sun will be back out in a minute.” Manny said with a little hesitation. The water in the harbor was a little more wavy than before.   “I feel the wind.” Sandy said. “I think the weather is changing.” Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating on a cloud, and relax into the feeling of lightness.  485. The Colorful Ocean: a guided meditation and story for kids | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:15

Tanya the Sea Turtle goes for a swim by herself and enjoys the beautiful colors of her ocean neighborhood. Narrator: Male Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:41 The Colorful Ocean Excerpt:  Tanya the Sea Turtle was swimming in the beautiful green-blue ocean waters that surrounded Ahway Island. Sunlight streamed through the clear and shallow waters, the light causing the ocean to sparkle beautifully all around her. Tanya’s front flippers stroked through the water in a soft, relaxed motion. It felt safe and calming to be surrounded completely by the smooth, warm waters all around her entire body. Tanya was no longer a baby but not quite an adult yet. She had been born in these waters, but for the first part of her life, she had stayed close to her family. Only recently had she begun to venture out on her own, exploring the waters farther away from Ahway Island’s shores. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently. Looking for a podcast to help settle your child in for nap time, bedtime or a break?  174. Pal Rides Again: a guided relaxation and calming story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:24

Pal the golden retriever is ready for another adventure. He decides to go for a bus ride, but today there is a different driver. Will Pal get to ride? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Pal Rides Again" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:34 Pal Rides Again Excerpt: It started out as an ordinary day. Pal, the little puppy darted in between and around the boy and girl’s feet as they rushed around the kitchen. With a “See you later,” the boy and girl left for school. Now Pal just had to make it through the boring morning. The little puppy settled into his bed with a chewy toy and worked on that for a while. He hopped up and had a snack around lunchtime and then the little puppy heard a rumble outside. With paws on the window ledge, Pal peered outside. It was the city bus! Pal barked a happy woof as the bus rolled by. His tail wagged, back and forth, back and forth. Pal’s bus was next!   The little puppy climbed out through the dog door and ran over to wait at the bus stop. He had been riding the bus every day since the first day of school. As people arrived to wait for the next bus they patted Pal on the head, and said, “Good afternoon Pal! How are you today?” The energetic little puppy’s tail wagged non-stop. Then Pal froze in place and listened. He heard a rumble in the distance. The bus was on its way! He zipped around all the people, and they said, “Pal’s telling us it’s time to line up.” Everyone lined up, ready for the bus. Pal took his place at the back of the line.   The bus stopped, and the people climbed the steps. As Pal placed his paw on the first step, the driver said, “Shoo, shoo.” frowning at the little puppy. Pal felt a little confused, after all he always rode the bus. The little puppy sniffed the air to see what was different. He smelled a different smell, and heard the people say, “It’s ok. He always rides the bus. Pal gets off at the school. You’ll see.” Pal looked at the driver and realized that the driver was different today. The substitute driver shrugged his shoulders and said, “Ok, but if he’s still on the bus after the school, one of you is taking him with. I can’t have a dog on my bus all day.” And with that Pal took his spot in the first seat. The little puppy settled in and looked out the window, his tail wagging and wagging. Wilbur goes on a walk with Sam. The walk takes them in a new direction and they meet some new neighbors! Narrator: Female Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:20 Found Friends Excerpt: Wilbur the Dog was lying in a bright warm sunbeam when he heard a faint jingle. He sat up and lifted his years. He heard the jingle again. Wilbur jumped up onto all four paws and ran over toSam. Sam had adopted Wilbur when he was a small pup. Wilbur ran in excited circles around Sam. It was time for a walk! They were going on a walk! Wilbur was so excited Sam had a hard time getting the blue leash attached to Wilbur’s collar. Finally, the leash clicked and Wilbur stood perfectly still at the door, waiting for it to open. As soon as the door moved, Wilbur put his front paws on it and pushed it open the rest of the way. He bolted out the door, pulling Sam behind him. “Slow down, Wilbur,” Sam said. The little dog scrambled to turn the corner. Wilbur wanted to make sure they really were taking the right path for the LONG walk. They were! Wilbur wagged his tail in excitement. As they walked down the street, Wilbur’s nose tickled with all the different smells outside! The first smell he identified was a chipmunk. Definitely a chipmunk.
