Zelena has a box with the hilt of Courage, the Heart and an empty box for Brains? Walsh is jealous. Zelena will pluck Rumpel’s brain? Rumpel’s not Zelena’s doll to dress. Hook bumping the table. What happened? Cora waiting for her Prince at the crossroads. Johnathon. A place we may have seen before that looks like the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco and in DCA. What significance does that place hold? My friend said it was a trick. The gardener. You lied to me. You took my heart, my virtue, my good name. You practically forced it into my hand when you thought I was a Prince. A harlot is a harlot.

Is David going to let Henry shot his police hand gun? David should know he can’t compete with a guy that dresses as a pirate. So does Hook scam all his meals with a pair of loaded dice? Hook back in the Enchanted Forest keeps yearning and referencing “her”. Don’t need to get hit over the head with a piece of wood to understand what that is all about. Best Scene – Really enjoy how its been established that Regina is now part of the family. No one blinked an eye when she just walked into the apartment without knocking. Also, when Snow announced dinner at Granny’s, they didn’t have to ask Regina, as it’s now expected she is invited. It was great to see her sitting with the Charmings, Emma, and Henry. Going forward – When Hook was looking through his spyglass in Mr. Gold’s shop, he scanned a black and white photo of a lady with an early 1900’s hair style. Nothing on this show seems to happen by chance, so why show the photo? Does this woman have a connection to maybe Zelena? So is Emma more powerful than Zelena? Podcast Episode 219 Shownotes can be found at: onceuponatimepodcast.com/219 OUAT WonderCon Panel 4/19/14 Eddy Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, Rebecca Mader and Josh Dallas Moderator was Jim Halterman Jim asked, “What will we see next?” Adam “A non-stop freight train of answers…The Wicked Witch has some pretty devious plans that she’s unfurling…” Eddy “It’s gonna get wicked, that much I can tell you.” Rebecca “Very wicked” Eddy “Next week’s episode is one of my favorite Snow/Charming episode and we will find out all about all the Baby.” Josh “…and we find out who cast the curse.” Jim congratulated Josh as the Newlywed Eddy mentioned that we were all on Josh’s bachelor party Jim asked about Ginny. Josh said that Ginny’s doing great and wished she could be there. Jim asked Rebecca about being cast as the Wicked Witch. She says it’s nerve-racking to play such an iconic role and such an iconic b-word, and she puts some British hot sauce on her own spin of the Wicked Witch and not copy the other iterations of it. She was also warned that she would get lots of hate mail, and she did get some, but she also has gotten lots of love from the fans which has been wonderful and surprising at the same time. Jim asked if the days she had to wear the green makeup are good days or bad days. She told us that she would forget about the makeup and when she would go to the loo to have a wee-wee and turn around and Ahhh! It’s bonkers. Jim asked about Charming’s journey moving forward. He said he’s trying to get to his Happy ending and hopefully he’ll get to it one day. He had to face his ultimate fear – the fear of being a father. When he owned up to that, that freed him up to go forward, but Zelena’s around and she wants his Baby. Like in Neverland, we’ll all have to pull together to defeat this foe, if possible. Rebecca laughed and said “Good luck.” Jim asked about Henry getting his memories back. Adam mentioned that Henry’s memory issues will be decided one way or another before the end of the Season. Josh mentioned Jared will never drive his car ever again. Guy #1 in the line asked about Wonderland. Rumbelle fans – Adam and Eddy hope they see each other again. Adam loves the light and optimism with Belle. Killing off Neal. A&E loved Michael Raymond James writing for and seeing the character he created. Neal will remain in our hearts and in flashbacks. We will see the echoes and ramifications of Neal’s death. Josh mentioned that Neal’s death lives in all of the character’s hearts and fuels them to defeat Zelena. What other character would Josh and Rebecca like to play, other than what they play now? Josh would love to play Rumpel. Rebecca would love to play Rumpel or the Evil Queen. She loves the villains. What a gift Smee and his mates gave him, just because. I wonder what he got for his Birthday??? Noble Hook. Let the girl go. “Pay for what?” At least Ariel didn’t stab him in the neck with a dinglehopper. Call Marco. Is there an Ikea in Storybrooke? What else do they sell there with Swedish instructions? Regina is so part of the family now, she just walks in. No knock, no “Is everybody decent?” just walks in. Cool. So, Blood Magic was not fool proof. Regina protects Charming’s baby – in Mary Margaret’s apartment. This is not your Season One Regina. Spells with Baby parts. Ew. Emma has and uses magic, but can’t control it. Yoda told Luke “Yoda: Control, control, you must learn control!” Regina is Emma’s Yoda and Mr. Miyagi. This is a way of life. You have to fully commit to it. No more Baby Tips for Henry. The Charmings are fun!! Right?? Generation Gap. “My Ship” – Hook. Where is it? Smee loves Frozen Yogurt. Smooth Hook. Magic is part of you, Swan. Emma only uses Magic to complete a task, but Regina told her she needed to full commit to a way of life. As much as you wish you could go back to your old life, you can’t. For Emma, its easy to go back, for Hook it’s not. We can be as fun as a Pirate Captain. Ariel’s back in her Ariel bikini, and a big coat probably loaned to her from Leroy. Thanks Leroy. :eye roll: Ariel’s been looking for Eric, but didn’t tell anyone she left. Ariel thinks Hook kidnapped Prince Eric. Dagger with BB on it that somehow Ariel “collected” from Blackbeard or someone else with the initials BB; BB King? Brooke Burke? Bob Barker? Benjamin Bratt? Bridgette Bardot? Bobby Brown? Squawks from Social Media: Facebook page – facebook.com/ouatpodcast Erin i’m glad that you were wrong about rumple being the wizard of oz.i’m not sure how i feel about walsh being the wizard of oz and if he can be redeemed. ————- Email points: Brad Hello Jeff and Colleen, here are the things I learned in the episode, It’s Not Easy Being Green. #1. Geppetto has some major clock tower repair on his hands. #2. Zelena may have silver slippers but Regina has the ruby red gloves. #3. Doc needs to stop parking his Miata in the street. #4. Never bet Emma in a game of darts. #5. Kermit the frog still has a chance. #6. The Wicked Witch of the Wild West is a version of OZ I definitely want someone to make! #7. Some conversations aren’t meant for the doorway. #8. A Sleeping curse while you’re pregnant is never good for the baby. #9. Hook’s bringing the sextant back. #10. Someone’s going to have to start directing traffic on Main Street, pronto! Here are some quick theories, observations and burning questions. THEORIES: Lots of people are theorizing that Rumpel may be Zelena’s father but what if it’s Walsh? We know he was originally from Kansas. Could he have come through the same cyclone Zelena did? He would have been a much younger man at the time and maybe he wanted to give the baby her best chance by letting another family take care of her. He seemed to know a lot about Cora. Was this from memory or magic? Zelena said that after her second chance, Regina will have never been born. If she takes Regina’s place, does Zelena then need Snow’s baby to take hers? There may not even be anything special about the Charming’s baby since Aurora and Philip were worried about their baby as well. Regina’s line about Cora having a love child with a scarecrow could be a reference by the show writers that Rumpelstiltskin is Zelena’s father. It could also be just a clever red herring to throw us off the trail. OBSERVATIONS: Blue has been absent since New York Serenade but she did attend the funeral for Neil. She can be seen standing to the right of the group when the camera is looking up from the casket. I love Robin Hood but did anyone else think the scene of him peeking through the tree was kind of creepy? Regina and Zelena fighting is exactly what I wished would have happened with Cora. Usually, Regina’s snappy insults are directed towards the heroes on the show so it was great to finally have her on the same side, laying the smack down on Zelena. Now that we know Walsh is the Wizard, your question “Will Emma be Walsh’s savior too?” is a very good possibility Jeff. BURNING QUESTIONS: Did Zelena take over the Emerald City after she transformed Walsh? We learned that Walsh is being forced to serve Zelena. Could he actually have been in love with Emma? This could complicate matters down the line if it’s true. —————- Maii Hey guys! Rumpel isn’t Zelena’s father. Zelena’s mother died previously. Zelena had no family. Who sent her to near Oz. “Put on a good face” spoken by her father. Alluding to the Wizard of Oz? Zelena’s skin color? Wicked, Magical Zelena. She was going to heal her father’s cut. Her father said he became a drunk because of her. Because of her magic? Dropped out of a Tornado. Emma playing darts, like Graham was in Season 1. Emma is afraid to tell Henry the truth, because he will think she’s lying or making it up to make him feel better. Hook trying to help Emma and Henry, and himself make peace with Neal’s passing. Tell Henry what Bae was like when he was Henry’s age. Leather Conditioner and eyeliner. Tink! Lion tattoo. Prophesized? Gossip about boys. Classic. Clue trial? Come on, girl. Robin – green scarf. Ozian much? Whoa, back up Tink! Didn’t you learn anything from the last time you screwed this up? Turned out so… Camera swings are like a tornado spinning around. Many dutch angles, too. Everyone wants to kill the witch, but she is control of the Dark One. Is that the Cap Man in the background when Zelena says “Little Sister”? Cora lied to you. Similar lines from the Pilot Evil Queen: Oh, I haven’t come here to ruin anything. On the contrary, dear, I’ve come to give you a gift. Snow White: We want nothing from you. Evil Queen: But you shall have it! My gift to you is this happy, happy day. But tomorrow, my real work begins. You’ve made your vows, now I make mine. Soon, everything you love, everything all of you love, will be taken from you. Forever. And out of your suffering, will rise my victory. I shall destroy your happiness, if it is the last thing I do. —- Zelena: Which is why I’ve brought a gift to help Regina: I don’t want a gift from you. Zelna: But you shall have it. See, My gift to you is this sad, sad day. Use it to dig into our past, Regina. Meet me on Main Street tonight, say sundown…and then I’ll destroy you. I don’t lose, like Peter Pan. Bullies and fights after school. Regina looks a bit flustered. Hook and Henry boat ride. Love child with a Scarecrow. Everyone was ganging up on Regina. Stick to the Lasagna, lady. Classic Oz look. To find out exactly what this Wicked Witch thinks I did to her. Green liquid? Anti Freeze? Great and Terrible. Oz. Cora gave her up, because she could not be Queen. Is the Wizard Lying? Magic is a gift. Silver Slippers. Clicking them 3 times is a portal. It is one thing to wonder about your past, it is another to be envious of things you cannot have.

Do you think he sent the potion? Aubrey If Snow’s Baby is the “heart”, it should be protected, like Emma’s Emma has magic because she is the product of true love. Her heart couldn’t be ripped out by Cora in season 2 because of this. I wonder if the baby will also have magic like Emma. If this is the case and if Zelena tries to take the baby’s heart, it wouldn’t work. I don’t think she wants Henry because even though he has the heart of the truest believer, Regina put that spell on him, so that his heart could never be taken. Aubrey Am I the only one who thought of Home Alone when Neal had the insignia burned on to his hand? Daniel ‘Course that scene HAD to happen five minutes before putting my own son to bed!! THANKS OUAT!! Like the king from Tolkien’s “Two Towers” (Riders of Rohan), “No parent should have to bury/outlive their own child.” Seriously though, one of the best scenes in the whole series! Knocked it out of the park! Blog Comments Maii Something incredibly important I forgot to mention was Rumple chose his son over magic. We saw the exact same situation that we saw back in season 1 Desperate Souls..This time around, we see character growth. He makes the right choice. He proves that he learned from his mistake the first time, and he chooses his son. This is huge. The entire reason the curse was ever enacted was because Rumple made the wrong choice the first time around. Rumple’s entire story has been about this moment – about proving to his son that he has learned from his mistakes. He has changed. Rumple knows now that his son trumps power, and this gave him the chance to truly prove that. He may have said it before now, but actions will always speak louder than words. Any doubts that we may have had about Rumple’s character growth were erased by this act. (from here, read it it’s really good and explains why neal’s death work’s so well with the plot) Play Email Intro Email points: Dan Great show, as always!  Here we go: (1) Nice CGI of Lumiere, but AGAIN w/the “allow me to introduce myself”!?!  What is it with OUAT and “The Stones”?? Regina asked about why Zelena was working with Rumpelstiltskin The Dark One has broken free Beautiful One – Bright and Morning Star Belle and the town knew that Rumpel would come to her Hook, the researcher Sorry may or may not resolve being almost killed twice Belle loves Rumpel – all of him, even the parts that belong to the darkness. Neal needs the dark part to get to the ones he loves. Born out of True love – Swan necklace. Totem? Heart Totem? Books are stronger than Magic. Books on history, witchcraft, and hopefully on the dark one, too. Lumiere – Allow me to introduce myself. Again. Sympathy for the Devil. Can we trust him? Is it working for Zelena, even though he says he is a humble servant of this castle? Lumiere – the light. Belle thought Neal was Rumpel. Hook had the sword just in case Rumpel was breaking in. Emma is Super Mom. Hero. Leroy is a Father figure? Henry doesn’t believe Emma. He wants to know the truth, or he wants to go home. Neal was running around in the forest, like Rumpel. Neal had a blister on his hand like Arnold Ernst Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Neal uses the Daddy card to put pressure on Emma to tell Henry the truth Lumiere only appears if his candles are lit. Bookcase Can we trust Lumiere? The vault of the Dark One, where the first Dark One was made. Is Rumpel melded with the Dark One? Lumiere will lead them if they promise that Rumpel will return him to his human form. We’ll leave first thing in the morning. Same thing as Emma. Zelena appears. She is behind this. Neal – Dumber than a box of hair. O Brother Where Art Thou – Dumber than a bag of hammers. What about Belle seeing the true self of people? Whoa, you got here fast. Fly on a broom much? Andana Orange Juice Zelena mentions the Wicked Witch. Every is searching for her, but Snow has her coming to her. Will Snow know and defeat her? Jacob’s touch, like Zelena? Weren’t Robin’s arrows always supposed to hit their target? Almost getting shot isn’t a great date idea. Robin knows who Regina is. Robin and Regina are partners. Don’t get in my way. I wouldn’t dream of it. Like in FTL. Hook, the Candy striper, brings Neal the famous green jello in the hospital. Didn’t Hook talk about the jello before in Season 2? 2 Beaus talking. Hook remembers Bae, the boy. Hook gave him 10 minutes. Belle filled Neal in with the missing parts of Rumpel. Emma wants to leave. Rumpel and the voices in his head. David, the Flying Monkey slayer. A good witch covers her track, but a better one can uncover them. Great and terrible Evil Queen, Not evil. Fear is an effective tool, after last week we know that. Whiskey isn’t magical can conjure courage, give strength, or even act as a love potion of sorts. We’ve earned a drink. This scene is more sensual than the David/Regina scene for sure. Tink – The guy with the Lion tattoo. Emma thought it was Gold, but it was Neal. Another mistaken identity scene. “You found it” Lumiere. I thought he was supposed to lead them to it. 200 years. He’s lying. Finally Belle wakes up. So, Rumpel isn’t the Dark One anymore. He’s the king of loopholes. Neal’s hero journey. Don’t make the same mistake your Father made. Another tree cave and test. In these last 3 eps I can see lots of parallels between Hook and Han Solo regarding to their relationships as well as personalities. Both are very confident , adventures, they love a challenge and their vessels. Han had a hard time thinking that Leia had strong love feeling ( he didn’t know Luke was her brother until their last scene) for Luke and so does Hook. Hook still thinks Emma has strong feelings for Neal and maybe Walsh and it hurts him, so he builds his walls up being sarcastic and with the terrible jokes, it’s his way to protect himself ( as Han did ). so when Emma supposes that he had a terrific time in EF , he sticks to the idea, which is totally a big fat lie , maybe hr’s been trying to find her ever since he parted ways on the first ep. Remember Han gives his ship away (lends it but… anyway) for a greater good maybe Hook did the same thing but in change of something to find Emma. It would be a nice parallel and iink it would made perfectly sense cuz he said : there was nothing for him there in EF. Could you tell what that was that she took from his safe? It didn’t ring a bell with me. According to Friar Tuck, if this root is digested, it would help one overcome any and all fears and has flecks of crystal in it’s flesh. Perhaps an ingredient needed in one of Zelena’s potions and doesn’t grow in Storybrooke’s realm. Rumple was very specific to Cora when he told her he wanted her firstborn daughter, as she will be important to him. Assuming Zelena is telling the truth about being Cora’s firstborn, then it’s my opinion that although he may not have known the specifics, Rumpel knew he would need Zelena at some point. He trained her in magic, and she’s good at it. But he also trained her to come to him with her madness. He fed it then, and he feeds it now. She will do his bidding whether she realizes it or not. He will let her be in control only until he’s ready to take back control to attain his ultimate goal, which is to get back to Belle and Bae. His tactics. In the short term, let his opponent believe she is in control until he’s in a position to take command of the long term end game. Is Rumpel crazy? I don’t think so, and here’s why. Feed the madness. It feeds off you. Rumple is referring to Zelena’s madness, not his. This is exactly what he did to Regina. He fed her madness. He fed her obsessive thoughts of vengefulness. He fed her insecurities, and she fed off him. She came back to him over and over and fed off Rumpel’s knowledge of magic. Regina was so obsessed with power and revenge that she made mistakes, and never realized that she was actually being led by him to do his bidding and enact the curse. Feed the madness, it feeds off you is sung to the same melody as ” you will see, you will come to me. There is more you need”. Regina came to gloat at Rumpel often which is the same thing Zelena is doing. They each wanted, at some point, to out magic the magic teacher. I wondered if they were retrieved by the seven dwarves for her? Zelena mentioned that Regina just left them all behind, so Zelena is an opportunist. Maybe Regina will use an opportunity when Zelena is not expecting it to win her kingdom back. Such pretty things. Wasted on her. Reminds me of a cutting joke women have said “That’s a pretty dress, too bad it’s on you”. Women can be mean. We know what Regina thinks about sitting on her chair, but what about throwing her things on the floor. Heck, what would Eduardo Castro say? It seems as if she hadn’t been in the castle very long and she is looking over everything for the first time. A flashback scene maybe? Zelena brings green smoke with her. Zelena like gray on her. I wonder what Season that is. I wonder if Walsh is a bit like The Mirror/Genie/Sydney Glass and is in love with Zelena. Is that why he was chosen to be the right hand flying monkey? Ruby!! She is not too trusting of Regina. Robin’s son, Roland. So cute. Tunnels to the castle. Under the spell. Like the old border Lower the shield. Star Wars reference. Regina can turn an impish flying monkey into a grey Teddy Bear or Teddy Monkey that look’s like he could be cast in a Toy Story movie. Regina’s action begin to build a bridge of friendship in contrast to her comment to Snow about the “forest smelling” Robin Hood. Robin saved Regina from the Flying Monkey, and Regina saved Robin Hood’s son from the next Flying Monkey. 2 misunderstood heroes. A sweet moment. Emma, the police detective begins her questioning, except about “the obvious” condition *wink* of Snow. Snow, “Then everything went black” or green, maybe? Charming, “Waking up in our beds, like it was any other morning in Storybrooke”. It sounds a bit like the Storybrooke time “record skipping” in Season 1 and highlighted in Season 2’s episode “Welcome to Storybrooke” “Almost Harvest time, but can’t remember the planting. It’s bad luck, mate” Kinda naughty, Hook. Emma and Hook, the good cop/investigator (Emma) and the bad cop/investigator (Hook). Hook fills in more of the gaps. Snow stands up for Regina. Emma’s demeanor reminds me of he during the disappearance and alleged death of Kathryn. How Hook knew about the curse and how to find Emma. As he was sailing the realms (portal usage?), a bird landed on his ship’s wheel with a note (Exactly like it happened to Neal in “Broken”) and a vial of Memory potion tied to its leg. Jokes in Monty Python come to mind about Swallows, but how big was this bird? But Hook said he “gathered the parts” for the potion… Message by bird is one of Snow’s method of communicating with Charming, but also August to Neal. Down to Four. Bashful’s not answering. Maybe Sleepy is… Team Seven need to be quicker texting Happy back. Storybrooke folks are disappearing. That would give A&E an opportunity to have Meghan a part of the show for Season 3B, but not all the time. Hook’s look when Neal was mentioned. “He’ll turn up, he always does” Dangit!!! Neal may have left to find Rumpel’s estate. A Blood Magic cure for Zelena’s curse? A way to find/communicate with Rumpel? What about the enchanted Sand Dollar? Some folks set up camp near the edge of town. Why a camp? To get their memories back, Emma needs to find out who took them in the first place....

Views from the Deck – Star Wars shoutout – the address 1138 was on the building to the left of the Ostria restaurant (with the wind blowing through the trees) Also there was a shot of a reflection of a cab right side mirror. Is Zelena using mirrors, like Regina to spy on Emma? Like the WW used her Crystal Ball to spy on Dorothy? There is another mirror image shot in Emma’s New York Apartment. Is this alluding to Zelena watching her, or is it that Emma is Emma Swan and Dorothy (or another character, perhaps?) Level 23 was a shoutout to the D23 Disney Expo. Eddy confirmed in an interview in the – wait for it – D23 magazine article. “I hope it’s not a big spoiler alert to say Henry is playing a video game on which he is thrilled to reach level 23. Coincidence?  Eddy: Not at all. How will they rescue Rumpel (If we take the clue of the Promo poster that he is in Oz)?
