Refusal of the Call – Emma didn’t believe that she was the savior or a hero for most of the first season. Meeting with the Mentor – Emma had lots of mentors and teachers through the series, but the big one was August. He tries to get her to take a leap of faith and believe. She did finally believe in her role of hero/savior In season 3 we see Regina takes on more of a Yoda role in teaching Emma “Magic” which has elements of “The Force” We have a “Sith Lord” in OUAT known as the Dark Once because of the power of the Dark One dagger. There is Dark Magic and Light Magic. There is lots of “Magic” choking, pushing, lifting and manipulating of objects to restrain people. That looks like The Force to me. Anyway, those are my thoughts on what I wanted to bring out. You can mention that Emma, the Hero/Savior is named Princess Leia in the episode “Snow Drifts”. —————– 6. Email points: From Aleana Here my thoughts for this episode Love Regina talking Emma down it was great seeing young Emma and Lily My question is since the apprentice told Lily the truth shouldn’t she go after the author Isaac… My theory is the author going rewrite everything and the villains going to be the heroes and heroes going to be the villains and everyone going to disappear from Storybrook into enchanted forest and since we know Henry was born here he be left alone and he going to be the new author because Isaac will probably died and Henry will have to rewrite it back they way it was Aleana —————– From Helen Big love to the Roneys. New listener and first time emailing the show…so cue the music. I have a theory that may be a simple ending to the season and put up a big bad for the next season. What if…like Emma’s potential for darkness was transferred to Lilly, they find a way to transfer Lilly’s darkness to Zalena’s baby, if she is truly pregnant? I totally do not like this theory but…you know how this show is with parallels. Yuck. Or perhaps the transferring vessels need to be of the same age so Emma may take back her potential for darkness. It’s seems Emma thinks she can carry all this darkness and still be light. But that would make Lilly and more importantly Mal happy. And I can see those two fitting into the Storybrooke community since it looks like Mal has become comfortable in the Mayor’s office. I couldn’t help thinking that Regina and Emma were playing Cagney and Lacey. I don’t know if Regina was showing “righteous anger.” Anger is anger whether you think it is wrong or right. I feel she was just so frustrated with Robin. Here she risks her safety to come rescue him and he’s like….”Thanks but no thanks.” And that leaves the question…WHERE IS ROLAND anyway?! Oh, well. We really appreciate it! News: Regal Con Views: Is Cruella dead? Remember what Zelena said in “Heart of Gold”? Email points: First Time Giving Feedback From Becca The Cruella episode was one of the darkest episodes I can remember in the history of Once. I felt like I was watching a creepy crime procedural drama, not a sunday night-fairy tale drama on the 7-8pm time slot on sunday evening!!!!! Memorables: 1. Seeing Cruella as a little girl at the very beginning- she had a really creepy look about her. Her eyes looked darkened and she just seemed like a very disturbed little girl. But as soon as her mother appeared, it immediately led me to believe that she was disturbed because her mother exerted such dominant and strict regulations over her (and chased her with the dalmatians). What a twist when her mother was actually the sane one and little Cruella was the troubled one to begin with! Are we to believe that Cruella was running away in the beginning scene after killing daddy #1? If so, that’s a VERRYYYY young age to begin killing other people. Shocking and more disturbing than any other content that I’ve even seen on OUAT. She makes Rumple, Regina-and heck, even Zelena- look like angels! I just saw a 20/20 episode this week where a mother and daughter were pitted against each other in the murder cases of the mother’s two husbands- first the father of the daughter, and next the stepfather. It was presumed that they died from heart attacks, but upon exhuming their bodies, antifreeze was found in their kidneys. The mother was convicted, yet she still claims the daughter did it. It was an altogether disturbing episode of 20/20 and I guess that caused me to have extra heebie-jeebies with this weeks OUAT eposide, since the nature of their poisoning deaths were similar to the Once episode. 2. The author writing Cruella’s story to prevent her from ever killing another human- smart move on his part. And I love that the spilled ink accounts for her classic black+white ‘do. But I’m still curious about what all happened when that ink spilled. Earlier in the restaurant/bar/dance scenes, he (the author) mentioned that there’s no telling what would happen if the ink spilled. Are we to believe that all that will happen is that it will stain white hair? Because according to this episode, all that spilled ink will do is stain white hair. But they the author seemed to imply earlier in the episode that something more serious than stains would result from spilled ink. 3. To add to this episode’s shock factor, it was crazy that Cruella ended up being the “most evil” of all the three lady villains of this season since (until this episode) she had mainly been a source of comedic relief with silly jokes and funny one-liners. 4. Emma: the entire episode her eyes looked blood shot and you could really tell that she was emotionally upset with all that has happened between her and her parents. My favorite part of the show continues to be any scene with Emma+Regina. They have excellent chemistry as friends, enemies, and “co-moms” of Henry. I thinks this half season has probably been the best stretch the show has ever had! On to my thoughts Emma…she had ALOT of wisdom in the little bit she was in. It was a relief to hear that she was mad at what snowing did to Lily, because I kind of thought she was only mad at them lying to her. The only thing I hated is that she forgave Hook so easily but yet she’s crucifying her parents in pretty much the same situation.Jennifer Morrison is acting the heck out of this… Also, those eyes! Yesterday was her birthday, so it was unfortunate that she wasn’t in the episode much but what she was in was awesome! Rumple….it was nice to see rumple go back to Neal’s apartment. I liked the twist that rumples evil is slowly killing him In a world without magic. I loved his quip about the doctors having small minds. It was nice to see the elixir make an appearance in our world and get a mention of Walsh and see where he worked. Rumple is so caniving, the way he pushed robin to be with “Marian” even his own mortality can’t sway him. I really feel he will never be redeemed. Also I found it hilarious his heart is literally hollow lol. Still waiting to see what his happy ending is. I think it may be finding away to get rid of his dark one powers. Robin….so good to finally get his backstory. It was cool that they went way back to even before he was Robin Hood. I liked the twist that he already was married to Marian and she worked with him. Before this episode I didn’t really care for them as a couple and after this episode, I really would ship them, so it’s a shame she’s dead. I loved when the show sort of poked fun at itself when robin mentioned the self explanatory name of the elixir. It was cool to see Will in Oz, but I’m tired of the show trolling us. They keep teasing us like they’re going to finally tell us what happened to Ana, but no,it was just about his sister. I’m starting to think we may never find out. I don’t even understand why they brought him in. He still has no purpose. One thing that confused me….why did Regina need Emma to look robin up for her if he had a phone with her number? Maybe he had her number but she didn’t have his? I was very impressed with the actress who plays Marian. I had never liked her at all before, even found her annoying, but she did great this episode, especially the part where she comes in rumples room, she played that amazingly. I loved their explanation of why Robin looked different in s2….very clever, as was the explanation of how he got his name. I have issues with Robin saying stealing for someone else makes you a hero. We really appreciate it! Notes: In the opening scene, we see young Cruella running away from home. Was that the first time she did, or was is one time of many? How did Madeline (Cruella’s mother (Played by Anna Galvin)) have control over the dogs? That must have been some kind of magic. How did Madeline become magical? What is her backstory? Throughout the episode, Madeline used dog training terms on Cruella, like “Stay (Here)”, “Be Quiet”, “Learn to Obey”, etc. When Cruella goaded Malefiecent into turning into a dragon, and in that form, Cruella used her magical influence to cause Maleficent to “take a nap”. It is interesting to note that that the term nap was what Regina used when she performed a sleeping spell on young Snow’s horse in the episode “Enter the Dragon”. When Regina went to visit Belle at Gold’s pawn shop, she seemed to accept Regina’s offer rather quickly. I wondered if the Belle we saw was not the real Belle. Shape shifting is almost the norm is the stories now, and Belle was some kind of vision to Rumpel on Neverland. The Author’s name is Isaac. Gold had the quill. The quill must be used with the special ink to write or change a story. We see Rumpel’s dark heart with just a glint of goodness. Rumpel told Belle that if his heart is completely taken over by darkness, he will “In a matter of speaking, he’ll die”, meaning “I’ll lost the ability to love”. There were lots of threats and lots of playing “chicken” with characters tonight. Gold used Regina’s redemption to question her threat of killing Belle by crushing her heart if Gold told Zelena that Regina was coming to destroy her. The term “Hero” was used to make those that used it to validate, invalidate or limit their actions. For instance the use of “Heroes don’t kill,” by Cruella, and Emma called her parents “Heroes are Paragon’s of virtue” but Hook told Emma, “Even Heroes make mistakes, love”, and Regina told Emma that Snow had been trying to make up for her mistake for a long time. I saw something that said that on Tumblr ————— From Cindy My 1st impression after tonight’s episode. It started 4 years ago with a nagging question that kept coming from fans. Gee, I wonder who actually wrote Henry’s book? A 4 year long ongoing fan quest for the author, which led to a season long quest for our characters to find the author. For 4 years with every new character we met the same question arose. Is he the author? Ooh! I bet she’s the author. August must be the author! Ooh what if it’s cap man! He sees everything! Henry’s book has been the centerpiece of our OUAT story. It was the “heart” of the truest believers’ stories. I felt like I was among the truest believers. Henry’s book represented hope for happy endings. But now that the authors have been identified, I think I’m a little sad. I realize I rather liked not knowing who the author was. I liked imaging how stories came to life in Henry’s book. I think Henry’s book has lost a bit of its mystique. Ariel was right about happy endings. They don’t come from the author or the book. The show is getting better and better each week. Im Lovin’ it!! Before I begin I wanted to throw my hat in the ring as it were about the “plot holes and inconsistencies.” I feel like people need to calm down about this. There hasn’t been anything major in my opinion. This show is 4 seasons deep. Its, bound to happen. I say just let it be and enjoy the show for what it is. Now, off the soapbox and on to my points Regina speaking through snow was so good!! I laughed so hard at that!!! Belle continues to dissapoint. They practically spelled it out for her and she still couldn’t connect the dots!! Shes a far cry from s1 Belle. They continue to cheapen portals. In s1 we were led to believe all there was was Magic beans. Not so now. I cant even count all the ways they’ve revealed since! I like the turn they took with Emma. Saying Gold wants to turn her completely dark for good makes a lot more sense sense then just saying she has the potential for great darkness or light. August was so good in this episode. I loved getting a reference to the dragon from s2. Hopefully he’ll play into this somehow. I loved the inclusion of August’s built in lie detector. The effects were great! Cruelly face when Rump turned August into wood was priceless. It was questioned if they would go full torture mode on a family show and they did. Rump threatening to burn his face off was super dark! I love that were getting more about the author. The sorcerer trapping him in the book makes sense, but why? I still say the door is in Jefferson hat. The hat is in Story broke after all. Spencer did burn it so that’s a problem but I’m sure they can find a solution. Ursulas Backstory / Redemption It was cool getting to see Killian working for Pan again. I think they referenced every major arc in this episode. Poseidon was a great character, and im glad they didn’t just call him Triton. The Disney force was already strong enough with this episode. Speaking of disney, i loved how Ursulas story paralleled Ariels from the movie. Its amazing how they managed to make me go from not giving a crap about Ursula to loving her the next episode. Everything that happened to her was truly cruel and made me sympathize with her whole heartedly. I wonder who the Pirate was that killed her mom. Blackbeard perhaps? It was nice to get the correlation between the ursula Goddess we saw in s3 and this one. Im so glad they redeemed her without killing her, although im surprised it was done so early. Her reconciling with her father was one of my all time favorite moments and brought me to tears. Well done!! I wonder if well see her again. We really appreciate it! Notes: Killian on another trip for Pan while he plots to destroy the Dark One. Mermaid songs. Siren songs. We’ve already seen a Siren and Mermaids. Rocks did Ursula make them appear – with her song? Ursula could sing – very Ariel like. She wanted her voice to make people happy, like her Mother wanted. King Triton wanted her to use her voice to lure ships toward them to destroy the person that killed her Mother. Who killed Ursula’s Mother? Hook? Regina removed the knife, before it harmed August, then used the threat of fire. August – The Dragon was looking for the Author for years, then August took his research. Gold and the Queens still don’t trust Regina completely. Gold to search August’s trailer. Regina pulled a play from the movie “Ghost” playbook and inhabited Snow to relay her message. She told them that Gold is in town and planning something “bad”. In Gold’s shop. Belle now learns that she was tricked again by Gold. Emma helps Killian not act in haste. August knew about Robin Hood, because “Just cause the boy doesn’t remember being me, doesn’t mean I didn’t remember being the boy”. Killian calling Ursula with the Conch shell. So, it not only calls Squids, but Ursula, too. Killian to return Urs’s happy ending for info about Gold. Young Ursula had a beautiful singing voice. Hook bought her a drink for allowing his ship to escape. She broke into King Triton’s vault and stole the bracelet to allow her to walk on land. King Triton used to be happy, before his wife Turned my voice into a weapon. “Love is a weapon…” Her voice can soothe even the most haunted soul. The cognitive dissonance just doesn’t make for good television. Maleficent basically revealed that Emma is…a human! Capable of both good and bad acts! WOW! And knowing the bad things Snow and Charming had done, even at that point makes their insistence at being heroes two dimensional. Will Emma really be that mad at them for doing everything they can to protect her from becoming a villian. (I miss the Snow and Charming of Snow Falls) PS I still love this show ——————– From Chris Tipton Hello, I have to sadly say this was a very meh episode to me. Very slow paced and plodding. With that said… My 5 points *** 5. The reveal of what Snowing did to Maleficent- Im not sure of how i feel about this. I dont know whether to think its super dark or just plain silly. I do feel it was kind of a letdown for the build up, at least so far. Hopefully the more they reveal will make it better. I have issues with what they’re saying about Emma. So she’s basically any human, she has the potential to be good or bad, so does anyone else. And Snow saying if she turns dark, her child will be doomed to that darkness as well. Excuse me?! No child is ever doomed or forced to follow their parents mistakes. That is just ridiculous. Ok, ill get off the soapbox 4. Maleficents resurrection- I felt the way this came about made since and was handled pretty well. Its still pretty convenient and easy that all they needed was her ashes and Snowings blood, but i suppose it is what it is. When she materialized there it was, genuinely scary and makes you worry for the charmings. Side note, im not digging her horns, as good a job Edwardo Castro usually does, these look cheaply made and leave alot to be desired. 3. Belle and Will…. Wow Doctor, i did not see this coming. So Belle has definitely moved on, and I REALLY, REALLY want to know what happened to Anastasia now. It cant be good. 2. Cruella- She continues to be absolutely Stellar. Her cunning wit and snark easily rivals Regina in my opinion. I love how she calls everyone Darling, sort of a, parallel to Rumples “Dearie”. Some highlights of her: wanting to turn Granny into a fur coat, she wears blood diamonds apparently and she likes charmings looks. Shes by far the best of the 3. Still waiting on Ursula to become interesting at all. I feel like i seem to say this about every new villain, but Cruella is already one of my favorite villains yet. Actually, just for fun, ill rate the villains 1. Cruella 2. Rumple 3. Ingred 4. Pan 5. Cora 6. Zelena 7. Maleficent 8. Ursula (I don’t count Regina because shes no longer a villain but when she was shes obviously the best, and Greg and Tamara just sucked) 1. Regina and Marco- this was easily my favorite part of an otherwise lackluster episode. Seeing Regina so vulnerable and apologizing like that was so amazing. Shes truly a hero, one of the good guys if you will.
