See Show Notes below Show notes: Rumpelstiltskin was happy to be called to the front of the Ogre War (first one?), but Milah was worried about him. This seemed very different than how she treated him later. Rumpel mentioned of undoing his "Father's actions" and called him a coward. We see a SoHo sign hun on a building on the background, but the Gaslight area in Vancouver (where the scenes were filmed) seemed very different than Manhattan, even the the production team tried to make it appear as New York. Bae lived in Apt. 407. UPS/Fedex comment was funny. Is Fedex an ABC advertiser? I wished that Neal wasn't Bae, and that Neal would help Gold, Emma and Henry find Bae. That would more like a saga, than this quick, obvious reveal. Lost (as we've said many times before) loves to split up the main group so they can learn info and see things, then make decisions on how or if the split person(s) will tell the rest of the group when they return. So, we now know what was in the box. An easy and elegant idea. Coincidence, Fate and Destiny were used prominently. Playing out the choices Emma and Neal (especially since he is Bae) could have made; If they would have stayed together, the cursed would have never been broken, and if Neal would have lied about his real persona, Gold would never had been reunited with his son. Neal and Emma choice ((basically) bullied into by August) was like Dreamy and Nova. A choice against true love and back onto the road of destiny. Emma lie #1. And she chided August for lying. Tsk Tsk. We see the Ogre Ware camp. Blind Witch as a Seer. An ironic and much used plot device in stories. We also discuss the many uses of eyes on hands in stories, movies and religious art. Emma calls Mom when she's in trouble. Seeing the future comes with a price - and practice, it turns out. Gold calls it a puzzle, like the show itself. Emma lie #2. That's two, sister! So sure for plot development, hide a easy to decipher clue in an obvious place, but not in real life. Side note: Regina went to the E.T. school of levitating things. Don't get me started about Henry's family tree. Maybe Jerry Springer or Dr. Phil can sort it all out. A horse, of course. Almost Mr. Ed. Would a coward injure himself? An interesting question. Did you spot the family connection between this episode and the pilot? As someone who spent time growing up in a loud, yelling household, I understand Henry completely. Milah is just a loving, supportive wife, isn't she? What did you think about her comments when Rumpel returned? Did you spot the shape on the map, too? What did you think about Colleen's comment about the map? The truth. It can be hard at first to tell someone something (with tact) that can be hurtful, but is lying or withholding information for years, so someone "doesn't get hurt", better? The dagger is the passive aggressive person's dream. You don't have to do anything that could come back onto negatively, you find away to make others do the bad thing for you, and blame it back on them. It is interesting to note that Cora has done this before by making it look like Regina "killed" Archie, but neither thing was true. Side note: We still do not know who is burined in Archie Hopper's grave. We see the element of time mentioned again.

Terminal C sign colors looks like a acid reflux medication box What are Anton's medallions on his (cool looking) bathrobey costume? Anton didn't eat all the giant making mushroom. Just sayin' Clock reflection on Belle's wall David is worried about becoming James. I think he will one day. An Email from Lorrie I was listening to the podcast and someone brought up the point of Belle's broken cup not being cleaned up yet and the fact that she may get looking at the pieces and the charm still working to restore her memory. That got me thinking, what if she steps on a shard of the cup that gets missed when it was cleaned up and cuts her foot. There are numerous instances of magic being activated or transferred through a finger being pricked. The story of sleeping beauty and the spindle, David with the spinning wheel to deliver the sleeping curse, and Gold with the globe to find Bae's location. What if Belle steps on a piece of the cup, cuts her foot and the magic is transferred to her and this is how her memory is restored? Just a thought. Jeff - That is a possibility. It wouldn't have been as interesting with just Quint and Brody on the boat, or Quint and Hooper, but Quint, Hooper and Brody brought in 3 different people with three different life experiences, goals, etc, and that creates drama, and if one of them gets lost or kidnapped that creates suspense. * Many times in OUAT, they use the plot device of splitting up the main group. All people in the group have strengths, information and powers to add, but when you send part of the group on a mini-quest, things can happen to the rest of the group that cannot be solved unless aided by the portion of the main group that is gone. Mr. Gold's car is black with red interior. Everyone in the car is dressed in red and black, except Mr. Gold that is dressed in black and beige (or gold, if you like). Also, Snow is dressed in black and red, as well back in her apartment. Like Mother, like Grandson and Daughter, I guess. (Part one of show notes are in post for Hour 1) In certain ways, Victor and Rumpel are experimenters on two sides of the fence. The theme of Science vs. Magic. Gold has become the snake oil salesman (compared to traditional science and medicine) of Storybrooke and beyond. Hide Hook from Gold. No Cell phone sign shown as Gold enters. Emma should read the signs. The commotion (and the spotlight it could bring Dr. Whale) brought him out of his hiding place. Rumpelstiltskin seemed to appear out of nowhere to watch Victor's "breaking" (just like Cora was watching Regina? Is Victor another student (in a sense) of Rumpel's?). I think Rumpel can travel through time. I've always though that (and still do). Belle was in the same bed where Henry was in "Broken," setting us up visually for Gold's kiss to work, but it didn't. Why didn't the kiss work? It's interesting that Cora knew so much about barrier spells, that she had no idea how to bring back memories. Also, if Rumpel created the Dark Curse, which included a barrier spell (to cause bad things to happen) , and if he knew enough to put in a drop of the true love potion in the Dark Curse, wouldn't he had know about the memory erasing portion and do something about it? Was there another curse before, or enacted because the Dark Curse was broken? How did the memory eraser barrier curse become enacted? It seems very much like Cora had a hand in it. How does Ruby know how many passcode combinations there are? Beautiful, can turn into a wolf, and is a tech security geek. Nice Emma has her hacker thingy on her star keyring. You teach me to wield whatever it is you wield. That is the deal." Whale said, "it’s a deal". No shaking a hand, no signing. Just, "it’s a deal". Cora tells Gold, "I have no reason to cheat you," Gold replies, "Anymore". How did she cheat him before? Cora calls Rumpel Master. Rumple calls Regina his apprentice. Cora loves power, and its no wonder she fell for Rumpel. Cora is manipulating the master manipulator, "I want you to find the one person in this universe who might still love you." Might Whale has a cracked watch. The family watch was cracked after Gerhardt was shot. What are the canisters around the grave as Victor is digging up the body? The soldier in the graveyard said "We have orders" (to shoot). Who sent him? Poor Doc. Grumpy doesn't think he could do the surgery. Mr. Gold redid his shop. Clocks. There are lots of clocks in Henry's room, Mr. Gold's shop, Neal's apartment. I wonder what Regina's vault apartment was meant for previously. Just a changing room, or a memory room? Why was the silver and black box in her mayoral office, and the mirror from her castle in her heart room apartment? What caused certain things to be in certain rooms? Gerhardt is in a vat of water,

Nokia reps at the town border? How did Henry get to Boston? Colleen's breathing exercises for Frankie. 2 in, 2 out still. Swords used for good. Is Charming, Jack? Doggie whines. The Outsider Live Show - Hour 2 (Part one of show notes are in post for Hour 1) I love how Belle drew her sword like we've seen Mulan (and many others on this show) do and we assumed that she would kill the Yaoguai, but she used her book knowledge and knowledge of her surroundings (like Charming did in the Shepherd "Didn't see that coming" moment) to put out the fire, and as it turned out save Phillip's life and not destroy it. Colleen mentioned that Mulan Maleficent "exiled (same as banished)" Phillip in Mulan's land as the Yaoguai (much like the Evil Queen did to Maleficent (using a trap)) to keep him apart from Aurora. True Love has power. More power than evil spells, potions and dark magic. Evil doers fear it, and seem to never have it (true love), and it must drive them to hinder and or destroy it. Gold's backing away from killing Hook (because Belle mentioned the good in Gold) was a bit like Regina telling Archie "You're lucky I've changed" and walked away. Househunting in Storybrooke with a couple, even a royal couple is tough. "This isn't about houses, is it?" Women have a keen sense of "what's behind it all". David doesn't want to die in Storybrooke. Mary Margaret says, "Our "home" doesn't exist anymore". She said, "The Ogres are back, Cora is in power" That's why David wants to go back. Home Mary Margaret doesn't want to fight anymore. David - What of we don't belong here. Fight for what we really want. Mary Margaret - Unless we don't want the same thing. Reality in a Fairy Tale. The day, week, month, year after the fairy tale wedding. It's an interesting look at these characters in a contemporary, more real light. Henry is already planning on Da vid and Mary Margaret leaving and rearranging the loft. Also living in fear of Regina (until the truth was discovered). What did Mulan learn from Belle's book? We see the capture and eventual towering of Belle. In the Official OUAT podcast Adam and Eddie called the last scene an Opera. Different voices and emotions building to a climax. If Rumpel would have only poured the potion on Belle, the ending would have been much different. Will Rumpel be faced with a 50 first dates situation or will he find some magic (from Regina or Cora) to bring her memory back? Who is the Pennsylvania man in the car? Live Show Hour 1 News Once Upon a Time at the Paley Fest event PaleyFest: The William Paley Television Festival, The Paley Center for Media's annual two-week celebration of great television, has scheduled its 30th anniversary event for March 1-15, 2013, returning to the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. The Cricket Game Analysis 2 Swans a Swimming The Swan swimming near the docks could be a visual metaphor of the Savior guarding the town, like a banner, gargoyle or statue. In a way, it could show that this is Swan the Savior's territory. Slightly similar to the Frozen in Time Clock Tower. It was the first clue that something was different about Storybrooke.News Flash: Our good friend, Sarah from the Vancouver area fills us in about Swans around the docks of the Vancouver area - Sarah "Yes, as a matter of fact there are quite a few around the greater Vancouver area! We see them swimming close to shore when the weathers nice" It fits in with the magical motif of the show also. Things being where normally they wouldn't be. No One to Meet Us? Not really Tackle Shop Owner came out to meet Hook and Cora. Even though Hook sailed in under the cover of night, he was not totally unnoticed. The unlucky Meeter I wonder who the Tackle Shop owner was "back in our land"? Prince Erik maybe? Maybe he will bump into the Little Mermaid or one of the mermaids associated with the Peter Pan story to inform the Storybrooke peeps about Cora and Hook arriving there. What other meeting parties have we seen? Emma. Who met her upon her arrival? Archie and Pongo. What other arrival occurred and was there a meeting party? August. No, not in a traditional sense. Jeff's random question #1 I wonder who Pongo was in FTL? Gus/human What's up with the Evil Queen's troops? Jeff has questions. Who are the Evil Queen's troops? Zombie-ish people? The guard who spoke to the EQ didn't flinch at her statement of "I don't care how many men you lose". No female warriors? Even the Ogre wars demanded female troops. Bashful, not really Bashful isn't bashful with a beer or punch at a party. Keep smilin', Bashful. One signmaker in town, I guess The Welcome Back Mary Margaret looks very similar to the previous sign in "The Return", but not the exact same sign. Were they too busy? Busy doing what? Geppetto, Mother Superior or Mr. Gold weren't at Emma's party. Why? Buy new pants for Henry. Henry is growing up so fast. Really fast. Name that Tune What is the musak in the background of Granny's? Walla, Walla There is a lot of background walla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walla) at an early point in the Granny's celebration. As spicy as Lasagna I love the Regina spicy retort to the lasagna comment from Grumpy. Even though someone changes, there are still parts of their personality that stays. Stay a little spicy, Regina. :) She's trippin' I wonder if Snow White was tripped on the stone in the road, or if she tripped by mistake. Evil Queen talkin' Rumple smack EQ "Leaving the battle so soon?" A slight dig comparing her to Rumpelstiltskin. What's in the dust, hmm? Evil Queen and Rumpelstiltskin Fairy Freeze Pongo with Cora's Memory freezing Freeze Was the Blue Fairy's dust mixed with the squid ink? Where have we heard that before? Regina's "Sorry I'm late," echoed the same line the Evil Queen gave at Snow White's wedding. I'm tellin' your Moms, Henry I think Henry was drinking beer at the celebration. Root beer. She who lives in a glass house, learned a lot If anyone knows what it's like for someone needing a chance to be good, it's Emma. Doing time and getting out to start a new life give you compassion for those that need a second chance. The soundtrack of your life

The goal of the episode is for us to give our first thoughts, warts and all, so here it is. Change is one of the themes in tonight's episode. OUAT is always changing. You might think, "Hey, everyone's back together now, let's just enjoy them moment," but not encountering struggles or difficulties would be - boring. Change causes people to grow, and growth is painful, but worth it. Another facet of change is people's perception of someone that lived or acted one way, then chooses to act or live another way. As Regina struggles to leave her past of anger and yearning for power and finding happiness in other people's sorrow behind. If that wasn't enough, we see that Mary Margaret and David still see her as her past, and treat her as such. Emma is willing to give her a chance to change and grow into her new life that she has promised to Henry that she would become. It's interesting to see Cora, (like Rumpelstiltskin before her) turn humans into smaller creatures, like fish, for example. I re-watched "Snow Falls", and was reminded of Snow's magical dust that she explained "This stuff? Is deadly. It transforms the most fearsome of adversaries into a form that’s easily squashed." As the scene of Hook and Cora arriving in Storybrooke ended, we see a number of Swans swimming in the bay. The scene of May Margaret and David in bed as Henry and Emma walk in was a creepy joke of walking in on your parents or grandparents. We've already got an email on this scene, so we will be discussing it on the live show. When the Evil Queen said, "Do not tell me what we can or can’t do," reminded me of John Locke on Lost, saying "Don't tell me what I can't do!" We finally saw the attack and capture of King George's kingdom and why Prince Charming's War Council is held there. We hear Snow White offer "Parley" to the Evil Queen, and the Evil Queen offered it to Snow White in "An Apple Red as Blood". Tacos were mentioned a lot in this episode. Emma did the right thing by inviting Regina to the celebration dinner. Emma was teaching her parents about mercy, and how to give people a second chance.
