Epic Every Day show

Epic Every Day

Summary: We live in a world of overwhelm—not enough time, not enough energy, not enough money... the list of not-enoughness could go on and on. Most of us can only dream of finding margin. Most of us struggle to have time, energy, etc. to really fulfill God's calling in our lives, to be the people He's designed us to be. Without changing how we live, we will never find margin to thrive. Epic Every Day is about transforming each moment from the inside out, creating margin in that moment by using the CSC's. Living in the CSCs is a state of being; being calm, surrendered, centered, connected, and complete. They are an adaptation of Peter Ralston's Tai Chi principles and can also be found all over the Bible. Being in the CSCs can transform each moment into a place of freedom and enough-ness, no matter what your circumstances are.

Moving through Despair and Disregard to HOPE | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:08

Jesus is emotionally available. How often do we avoid going with someone into their emotions? In the story of Lazarus, we see Jesus weeping over His friend and for others’ loss. We are called to take the time to explore our emotions with others—to accept them from others, even when we don’t understand them.  Battling Bitterness, Isolation, and Jadedness in Ministry | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:57

Bitterness, isolation and jadedness are aspects of the darkness getting in the way of our connection with God and others. We’re looking at the stories of Mary and Martha today. In the first story, Martha can only complain about Mary not working with her. In the second story, Martha is looking for a connection with Jesus over the death of her brother.  This was the Plan All Along | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:26

Our culture values the “you deserve it” and “watch out for #1” attitude. Of course, this kills relationships. Therefore, selflessness gets noticed because it’s very unusual. Christianity is the only religion we’ve found that balances love of God, self, and others. Discipline is a great way to combat selfish tendencies.  Ministry Should Never End | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:10

Our need for grace and a savior never changes, no matter how much we change in our spiritual development. The darkness in the way of surrender is pride, independence, & individuality. These three areas are a lie—a mask across reality. Being a light-bearer in the arena of surrender is going to stir up pain. The light we need here is humility, dependence, and vulnerability.  Peace Shines like a Star | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:58

Your ministry is to shed light in a dark world. The darkness takes many forms. The darkness that steals your calm is busyness and feelings of overwhelm. We live in a loud world, so using quiet in your ministry may be a path to peace. It’s certainly counter cultural! We look at examples from Jesus’ ministry when He was able to remain calm in stressful situations. Epic Every Day is available on Radio Public, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Sticher and YouTube.  Don’t Let Mistakes Steal Your Leadership | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 13:16

How do you, as a leader, let go of regret? How do you allow yourself to take imperfect action? Regrets tend to grow like snowballs if you don’t deal with them. Evan & Liz Frerichs discuss the important distinction between regrets and repentance. Epic Every Day is available on Radio Public, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Sticher and YouTube.  Servant Leadership | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:31

Leadership isn't words, it’s actions. Like faith, it’s not about what we say—it’s what we do. Anyone who demands submission is not a good leader. Good leaders always hold the needs of those they lead above their own needs. Stop chasing respect and power.  Quiet Leadership | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:47

God will push us beyond our comfort zone, but He will never push you to not be yourself. We look at the story of Naomi and Ruth today as an example of quiet but powerful leadership. In the body of believers, God will push you to change, but you will never grow out of being an “eye” or a “toe” or whatever your calling is.  Leadership is not Glamorous | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:27

Every leader has volunteered to put aside their own personal safety and agenda for someone else’s benefit. Powerful examples include parents, pastors, scout leaders, and coaches. It’s no cake walk. It’s important for every Christian to realize they are leaders, whether they want to be or not. And if we spend our energy trying to avoid suffering, we will not be an effective leader.  Called to Lead | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:57

Being a leader is the call of every Christian. But when we take our eyes off Jesus and get distracted, we make our lives difficult and lose calm. Unfortunately, stress is contagious. Fortunately, calm is contagious too—like Jesus when he was sleeping in the boat during the storm. Epic Every Day is available on Radio Public, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Sticher and YouTube.  So that You may be Lacking in Nothing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:11

“The degree of our faithfulness is a direct result of our regard for God’s faithfulness” ~ Beth Moore. Faith is about your actions, not your feelings. God’s desire for you is to develop into your best self—the person He designed you to become. His desire for you is to lack nothing like it says in James 1:2-8.  Jesus is Gentle With Our Doubts | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:13

There is room, even in prayer, for doubt. Our attitude when we come to God is important. We can come to break down or build-up our connection to God. Greater faith goes through a process of filtering out doubts through investigation and prayer. So be encouraged in your doubts; if you come honestly to God with them, He will sort them out and your faith will grow. We discuss James 5:1-8 and John 20:24-31.  Wanting Ease Over Maturity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 13:23

We read in James 1 that the way to ‘lacking nothing’ is by asking for wisdom. Does that make any sense to you? What we are asking God for shows us what’s in our hearts. Are you using prayer to attempt to change circumstances or to mature in faith? Liz shares about how once God changed her ‘be,’ she was able to be calm for the first time in her life despite similar circumstances.  Good Things Come from the Father of Lights | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:30

Do you dare ask God for the things you want or need? What if He says ‘no’? But Jesus says we have not because we ask not. What would it take for you to ask God for anything in faith? We discuss James 1:5-8 again as well as James 1:16-18. The James passage talks bout God as the father of lights, giving every good thing his children. When we understand God’s character, we are freer to ask Him for the good things He wants to give us. Epic Every Day is available on Radio Public, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Sticher and YouTube.  Where is God in all of This? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 13:20

Stress is an indicator of a lack of faith. Too harsh? Just ask yourself the question, “Do I trust God in [insert thing you’re stressed about]?” Your answer may surprise you. We’re not called to blind faith. We have many examples of God’s faithfulness to observe and base our faith on. This should eliminate doubt. We discuss James 1:5-8 and Mark 9: “I do believe, help my unbelief!” Epic Every Day is available on Radio Public, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Sticher and YouTube.
