 The Flash S6E2 A Flash of Lightning | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 32:14

If there's one thing to take away from the The Flash S6E2 A Flash of Lightning, it's that the coming Crisis is inevitable. Instead of trying to drag out the beginning half of this season with Barry and Iris trying to figure out a way to avoid his upcoming sacrifice, in two episodes we've come to a place of acceptance. Thanks to a great Black Fatherhood Moment from Joe, Barry seems to accept that in order to save billions on multiple worlds, he will have to make the ultimate sacrifice. Now, we don't believe he actually will but it feels good to not waste time. Barry is a hero and his costume is a uniform. This is the job and the duty and Barry is going to run towards the danger, not away from it. The Flash -- "A Flash of the Lightning" -- Pictured (L-R): Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick and Michelle Harrison as Joan Williams -- Photo: Robert Falconer/The CW -- © 2019 The CW Network, LLC. All rights reserved   Other things that stand out in this The Flash S6E2: Cecile leaving the District Attorney's office to become a defense attorney and advocate for Metahumans is an excellent idea. It gives a lot more room for her character to grow and also will also put her more in the think of things. Not to mention, while Joe wasn't right (come on Joe, you can't say that to your wife who reads minds) he was right in that the advocacy that Cecile wants to do isn't best served as a prosecutor but as a defender Ralph continues to impress. After the stumbles of Season 4, Ralph has become such a great character. He's helped his team both with getting through rough emotional times and as a detective and superhero. He's gone from being a liability and annoyance to one of the most dependable (and likable) characters on the show. While Iris and Barry have reached the "acceptance" stage of grief, it's also important and makes sense that Iris is still struggling with this. Iris has gone through so much. She's lost her fiancé in season one (Sorry Eddie), she's just watched her daughter be erased from the timeline and she's watched Barry continue to sacrifice himself. This time is different though. Barry isn't just "disappearing" or making a last minute sacrifice. They know that Barry is slated to die and right now, it's the only choice. It makes sense that she's struggling with this even if she's accepted that it is something he must do. We'll find out more next week but it seems that they'll be doing something interesting with Dr. Rosso/Bloodwork. There's very little to go on with source material so there's definitely room to improve and adjust. Chester (Chunk) is still around!  Supergirl S5E1-S5E2 Review Skynet Is Online - Super Tuesday Recap | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 32:15

We review the first two episodes of Season 5.  We agree the opening is strong, and it seems like we have the opportunity for three character arcs, with Hope/Skynet getting a body EDI style, J'onn's brother back to wreak havoc, and the mystery behind the sexy new Brit and Rojas at Catco.  Melissa acts her ass of in episode 1, channeling Grant Gustin's ability to make you cry when they are crying, as she struggles with coming clean with Lena.  Lena is deliciously jaded and we love it!  Nia and Brainy are the ship we've been waiting for, and The Doctor is worried that they are shaping Kelly up to be the magical negress on the show.  Take a listen!   Like what you hear?  The Flash S6E1 Into the Void Review - Super Tuesday Recap | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 33:18

New Suit. New Villain. More importantly…NEW VOLUME OF THE BOOK OF RALPH. Yes folks, it must be that time. The Flash is back for season 6 with Into the Void. Now we’re not saying that if DC released a limited edition, leather-bound copy of The Book of Ralph Volume 2 as a collector’s edition that we’d forgo our bills and budget to immediately buy it. But hard decisions would have to be made.   Honestly though, it is good to be back with The Flash. Season 5 was a great season that brought the show back to its season 1 glory. We got great growth for all the characters and the writers no longer stretch out plot points that the audience can clearly see over several episodes. Flash season 6 picks that right up with us clearly seeing that Barry and Iris, despite what they say, are not handling Nora’s erasure well. Barry has buried himself in his work as the Flash and Iris is hoarding items from Nora and trying to bury her feelings with the idea that this is temporary and she’ll see Nora again. We appreciate this season not dragging out what we can clearly see through.   We’re also interested in what the show does with Dr. Ramsey Rosso aka Bloodwork. Like Godspeed, Bloodwork is a relatively new addition to the Flash world (debuting within the last couple of years) and to be honest, isn’t really an interesting villain. But considering what the show did with Cicada last year, we’re intrigued to see where they take Bloodwork this year.   And then there’s the elephant in the room: Crisis. Crisis on Infinite Earths is either going to be the most amazing and ambitious crossover the Arrowverse has ever done or a spectacular failure. There’s really no in-between. Personally, we’re excited for it and think it will be great but it is clearly going to be an ambitious task. That said, out of all the Arrowverse shows, The Flash is the one that seems to be the most prepared for it. Since season 1 when Thawne showed us that newspaper article, we’ve been preparing for this. We don’t know how it will unfold but it does feel like we’re about to get a culmination of 6 seasons of prep work.   Listen as we chat up the season 6 premiere of The Flash.   Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month.  Give Kriss Free - Mailbag #25 | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1:15:06

It's the end of September so it's time for another Mailbag episode. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails and hot topics. We start with Kriss celebrating the fact that he's finally broken off his abusive relationship with NYCC and will not be covering it this year. Freedom. Finally. We then cover some listener emails and a few small topics (Like the team behind Joker now whining about all the press they got for proudly being edgelord assholes).   Unfortunately we did record this before the news of Spider-Man returning to the MCU due to a deal between Sony & Marvel Studios/Disney but...we're not surprised.  Topics: * Emails * Growth of characters over time * Best Teen Titans/Titans run? * What characters would we want to see DC do a live action movie on? * News * We didn't plan this: Claremont Back with Bill Sienkiewicz for a New Mutant one-shot * If you're gonna be edgy, own it: Joaquin Phoenix can't handle questions about Joker * Canaries spin-off Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month.  Star Trek Universe @ SDCC 2019 | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 57:44

Apologies as this was supposed to come out weeks ago. Originally I was just going to do a write-up of the Star Trek Universe panel at SDCC and include pictures from Brandon but then my cohosts from the Star Trek Discovery reviews really wanted to discuss the panel so we decided to just turn it into a podcast episode. We talk about all the big news out of SDCC for Star Trek. Who would have thought that the CBS All Access app that launched with a rocky star and a buggy app would become the place for all the best Star Trek content...but here we are.  We talk about: Short Treks are BACK!!! With more Pike, Spock & Number One Discovery is 1000 years in the future and everything changes Picard brings back Seven of Nine, Data, Riker & More.  Can Picard redeem Seven of Nine and give the character more depth and purpose beyond being a sex symbol Lower Decks and animated Star Trek and more!

Agents of Shield Season 6 Finale Review | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 51:38

I mean what can we say? Agents of SHIELD is really something special. Season 6 ended the only way an Agents of SHIELD season could...playing with our emotions, bringing an even bigger threat and of course...separating Fitz and Simmons. Seriously this was two intense hours. We get Deke finally making his grandfather proud, only to disappoint him later. We get Sarge killing May after the show made us (and May and Daisy) believe that maybe Coulson could be saved. Then they almost kill YoYo. Then they save May and YoYo. Then we don't even get a chance to breathe cause the Chromocons have taken the Lighthouse and killed a bunch of agents and to save everyone Simmons and most of the team jump to the past. And then there's LMD Coulson. Yes...LMD Coulson. Oh and did I mention that somewhere Piper is helping Flint mend his broken leg? There's so much to discuss about this episode as well as the possibilities for the future (Agent Peggy Carter possibly making an appearance next season?). In the words of Dpalm, "How dare you!"   Like what you hear?  Just Say No - Mailbag #23 | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1:53:22

It's it's time for another Mailbag episode. Sorry for the delay of the July mailbag. Kriss has been a bit under the weather but we're back. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails, hot topics and discuss their Pull-List for the month. We have plenty to talk about from Marvel at SDCC to the "Joker" film that seems to be hedging bets already. Give it a listen. Topics: * Emails * The X-Men appearance in Deadpool * Spider-Man Far From Home hitting a billion * Should Wesley Snipes get a an opportunity/head nod in the new Blade film? * The Boys TV show * Modern Marvel comics inspiring Phase 4 * Why did the Fox X-Men films look so terrible? * News * Todd Phillips and DC are trying to get ahead of the fact they shouldn't be naming a film Joker * Stop disrespecting Comic Books * Marvel Phase 4 * Pull-List (Not the complete list) * We're going to do a separate episode for a pull list so we can talk Hickman's X-Men and more Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month.  Agents of Shield Season 6x9 Review Collision Course Part 2 | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 28:54

This week Dpalm is out in Denver but still calls in for this week's review of Agents of SHIELD, Collision Course Part 2. No, despite the slander, Kriss did NOT force him to work on his vacation. This week's episode feels like it could give you a false sense of hope that everything worked out. The team saves the day, Izel is apparently blown up and Fitz & Simmons make it back home. Everything is good right? Right??? Of course not. Izel clearly had a plan. Davis is messed up (and maybe not even really himself). The mystery of who Sarge really is continues to grow. And well...the episode ends with May putting a few bullets into Sarge. Yeah...this isn't the end by a long shot. Still, we love everything we've seen so far. Daisy has come so far with her powers and just continues to be a bad ass. Mack & YoYo might be back together (Agent Red Shirt who?). Fitz learns he not only has a grandson from the future but....that grandson is rich. And we get more clues as to who (or what) Sarge is and why he looks like Coulson. Of course those clues just lead to more questions. The last few episodes are gonna put us through a ride. Next week's review will be out a little later than normal. Kriss is going to be at San Diego Comic-Con so we will record the review of episode 10 on the 24th. But we'll also include any news about Agents of SHIELD from the SDCC panels and press rooms so stay turned. Also, we need everyone to go to PodcastAwards.com and signup to nominate the Character Corner in the Entertainment and People's Choice categories. It only takes 5 minutes and we'd really appreciate it. Nominations run through July 31st so head over and get those votes in.   Like what you hear?  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S6E8 Collision Course Part 1 Review | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 34:44

Collision Course is the perfect name for this episode because everything is coming to an explosive collision. This episode is a bit of an info dump but only in the way that Agents of SHIELD can do meaning we of course have more questions. Of course Izel is the "big bad" that Sarge is after and of course Sarge has his own set of secrets. Izel might be the big bad but Sarge isn't all that good himself. Kriss and Dpalm have some ideas of why Sarge looks like Coulson thanks to some more clues brought up this episode. Oh and Kriss is to blame for the black agent dying (just had to gloat last episode). There's a lot to discuss so give it a listen. Also, we need everyone to go to PodcastAwards.com and signup to nominate the Character Corner in the Entertainment and People's Choice categories. It's the end of June and so it's time for another Mailbag episode. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails, hot topics and discuss their Pull-List for the month.  Topics: * Emails * The Legion of Super-Heroes Back * DC shutters Vertigo imprint * News * "Anything is Possible" - Sony selling pipe dreams about their Spider-Man movies * Keanu in the MCU? * Endgame re-releasing in theaters and it's impact (as well as Avatar's) * Mistakes were Made: Dark Phoenix getting pulled from theaters already (that seems bad) * Pull-List (Not the complete list) * Doomsday Clock has Dpalm ready to apologize * War of the Realms Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month.  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S6E7 Toldja Review | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 49:09

Kriss and Dpalm are joined by Karen and Rod from The Black Guy Who Tips to review episode 7 of season 6 of Agents of SHIELD: Toldja. We've reached the middle of the season and things are now starting to come together. Sarge, aka Not-Our-Coulson proves he has the upper hand on Mack and the rest of SHIELD. Fitz and Simmons are finally on their way home. And we figure out what the perfect amount of Deke is. Oh and Daisy says what we're all thinking: Mack and YoYo need to get their shit together and get back together.   Like what you hear?  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S6E6 Inescapable Review – Couples Therapy | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 26:54

A Fitz Simmons episode? Oh you know things are about to get crazy. This episode turns into one big couples therapy session and it's glorious. It also solidifies what we've been saying for the longest time: This show handles it's characters so well that it can do an episode like this and makes it so good. We're reminded just how far Fitz and Simmons have come as individuals and why they work so well together. They've been through so much trauma and yet they remain "unstoppable" together. Now...will the show rip our hearts out by the end? Probably. No one is safe on this show. But we know whatever happens, this show will have earned it.   Like what you hear?
