What Does the Word Say? show

What Does the Word Say?

Summary: What Does the Word Say? is produced by Grace and Glory Media, an outreach of Grace Valley Christian Center under the leadership of founder and Senior Pastor, Rev. P. G. Mathew. We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and is the only rule for faith and conduct. Therefore, the purpose of this podcast is to explore biblical theology with a practical emphasis, always keeping in mind that what the Word says we must believe and obey. Our goal is to help build God’s church by edifying Christians and challenging unbelievers with the gospel, which alone is the power of God unto salvation.

[115] Why did Jesus have to be a Man? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:22

Jesus had to be a real man to be our representative, our substitute sacrifice, mediator, example and sympathizing high priest. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/115-why-did-jesus-have-to-be-a-man/ ‎

[114] Jesus, Our Fully Human, but Sinless Savior | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:51

Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and did not inherit Adam’s guilt or a sinful nature. Mary was a godly woman, but a sinner in need of a Savior. The Roman Catholic doctrine of the immaculate conception is unbiblical. Jesus was fully human and tempted just as we are, but he resisted every temptation in his humanity and never sinned. We have the same Holy Spirit power available to help us avoid sinning. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/114-jesus-our-fu…t-sinless-savior/ ‎

[113] The Virgin Birth of Jesus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:56

Given that God created the entire universe, his causing Jesus to be born of a virgin is completely reasonable. The virgin birth of Jesus is an essential doctrine of biblical Christianity. It guards his true deity, humanity and sinlessness. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/113-the-virgin-birth-of-jesus/ ‎

[112] Jesus Christ: True God and True Man | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:30

Jesus Christ is God incarnate, the Jehovah of the Old Testament. He is also fully man. He is the unique God-man, the only Savior. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/112-jesus-christ…god-and-true-man/

 [111] Jesus Christ, the Unique God-Man | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:05

Because man has sinned against an infinitely holy and just God, he owes an infinite debt that no mere man can pay. Therefore, God became incarnate in the person of Jesus of Nazareth to pay the penalty for his people. Jesus Christ is the unique God-Man; truly God and truly man. Two distinct natures in one person. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/111-jesus-christ…e-unique-god-man/ ‎

 [110] Pelagianism and Arminianism | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:14

Biblical Christianity is theocentric and the glory of God is ultimate. Pelagians and semi-Pelagians, including Arminians, place too much emphasis on human free will. Our inability does not limit our obligation. We can be justly judged for not repenting and believing in Jesus Christ even though the natural man is incapable of doing so because he has a sinful nature. We inherit our sinful nature from Adam. Salvation is only possible by being born again and believing in Jesus Christ. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/110-pelagianism-and-arminianism/

 [109] Is God’s Election Fair? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:20

God is sovereign and we are creatures. We must remember the Creator/creature distinction. We have no right to question God’s fairness and so, he says to us, “Who are you, O man, to talk back to God?” His purpose in creation is the manifestation of his own glory. He demonstrates his justice in sending some people to hell and his mercy in choosing to save others. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/109-is-gods-election-fair/

 [108] Total Depravity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:45

The natural man is totally depraved, meaning that there is no part of his being that is unaffected by sin. He is an enemy of God, dead in his sins, and cannot choose to believe in Christ unless and until God regenerates him. The regenerate man will then repent and believe on Jesus Christ and be justified by faith. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/108-total-depravity/

[107] Laws May Change, God Does Not | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:15

The ceremonial and sacrificial laws of the Old Testament pointed toward Jesus Christ and were abrogated when he came and fulfilled them. God’s moral laws remain unchanged, although the punishments for breaching some of them have changed. Homosexuality is a sin and is not genetically determined. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/107-laws-may-change-god-does-not/

[106] We Inherit a Sinful Nature and God Defines Sin | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:06

Adam represented the entire human race and his sinful nature is handed down to all his natural descendants. We all sin because we are sinners by nature. There is no part of our being that is not affected by sin. God is the only one with authority to define what sin is. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/podcast/106-we-inherit-a…-god-defines-sin/ ‎

[105] Do Animals have souls? And the Doctrine of Sin | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:08

The Bible doesn’t say whether animals have souls, but if they do, they are fundamentally different than man’s. Sin is the defining problem of the human race. Adam was our representative and when he sinned, his nature changed and his fallen nature is passed on to all his natural descendants. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/105-do-animals-h…-doctrine-of-sin/ ‎

 [104] Trichotomy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:45

Unbelievers are dead even while they are living, which means that they are separated from fellowship with God. We often say they are “spiritually dead.” The Bible views all three senses of death – physical, spiritual and eternal – as separation. Our souls are eternal, no one simply ceases to exist. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/104-trichotomy/

[103] Man Comprises Body and Spirit | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:22

The Bible teaches that man comprises a physical body and an immaterial spirit, or soul (these words are used more-or-less interchangeably). Nevertheless, it is clear that some animals are self-aware, have personalities, and we are capable of having relationships with them. The key distinguishing characteristic is that only man is made in the image of God and can have fellowship with God. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/103-man-comprises-body-and-spirit/

[102] The Essential Nature of Man | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:03

Man has both a material and immaterial part. Monism, which teaches that man is purely material, is unbiblical. Dichotomy teaches that man has both a body and a spirit and this is the biblical view of man. Our spirits go on living after our bodies die, but in the final resurrection our bodies are united with our spirits. The words spirit and soul are used more-or-less interchangeably in the Bible. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/102-the-essential-nature-of-man/

[101] Authority in the Image of God | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:12

God delegates authority to be used for the good of those under authority. All of us are under authority, usually in multiple ways. Properly exercising our delegated authority and properly functioning under authority are aspects of our being made in the image of God. Being a leader is hard work. Husbands are to be the prophet in their home, meaning that they are to bring the word of God to bear in every situation. Being in authority does not imply one person is better than another. Humans are given authority over the rest of creation. Man has both a body and a spirit, or soul. Monism is the atheistic view that man is purely material. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/podcast/101-authority-in-the-image-of-god/ ‎
