What Does the Word Say? show

What Does the Word Say?

Summary: What Does the Word Say? is produced by Grace and Glory Media, an outreach of Grace Valley Christian Center under the leadership of founder and Senior Pastor, Rev. P. G. Mathew. We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and is the only rule for faith and conduct. Therefore, the purpose of this podcast is to explore biblical theology with a practical emphasis, always keeping in mind that what the Word says we must believe and obey. Our goal is to help build God’s church by edifying Christians and challenging unbelievers with the gospel, which alone is the power of God unto salvation.

[40] The literal meaning, understanding the Bible: Part II | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:43

God is revealing truth in his Word and we should seek the literal meaning of the text, which we find using the grammatical-historical method. There is only one correct meaning for each verse, but there can be many applications. We must take into account the literary genre (e.g., poetry, historical narrative), all figures of speech and so on. Prophecy is less familiar to most of us than other genres. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/40-understanding-the-bible-part-ii/

[39] One thing needful, understanding the Bible: Part I | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:44

Because our eternal destiny is at stake, we should be extremely careful to be sure that we understand the Bible correctly. The rules for proper interpretation are called hermeneutics. The first rule of hermeneutics is that we must use Scripture itself to understand Scripture; this is sometimes called the analogy of faith. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/39-understanding-the-bible-part-i/

[38] The infallibility of the Bible: Part V | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:21

The claim that the Bible is full of errors is wrong. Most supposed errors are trivial and can be easily explained. The errors that do exist are very minor can be ascribed to errors by copyists and don’t affect any doctrine of Christianity. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/38-the-infallibi…the-bible-part-v/

[37] The infallibility of the Bible: Part IV | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:27

The Bible clearly claims to be the very words of God, who is infallible. Therefore, the Bible is infallible. Professing Christians who do not agree with this doctrine should give it careful consideration, it may be that they are not born again. Many modern ministers function more as social workers than ministers of the gospel. Nevertheless, agreement is not necessary for salvation. Inerrancy does not preclude the Bible using all forms of normal communication like hyperbole and phenomenological language. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/37-the-infallibi…he-bible-part-iv/

[36] The infallibility of the Bible: Part III | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:25

The study of science is part of fulfilling God’s creation mandate, and it should drive us to seek God. But the Bible is the only infallible source of knowledge about God and his plan of salvation. Jesus Christ considered the Bible to be the infallible Word of God and Christians must do the same. The alternative is to listen to men, who pervert the gospel of grace in different ways. Man-made religions cannot save anyone. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/36-the-infallibi…e-bible-part-iii/

[35] The infallibility of the Bible: Part II | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:01

The authority and infallibility of the Bible are inextricably linked. All born-again Christians base their faith on the infallibility of the Bible. If the entire Bible is not the infallible Word of God, then it does not all have authority and we become our own final authority. The formal cause of the reformation was this issue of the sole supremacy of the Bible alone. The Roman Catholic Church holds the traditions of the church as having authority equal to that of the Bible, which is wrong. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/35-the-infallibi…he-bible-part-ii/

[34] The infallibility of the Bible: Part I | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:56

The Bible is infallible because God is the author and he is infallible. To deny the infallibility of the Bible is to base faith on the shifting sands of subjectivism. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/34-the-infallibi…the-bible-part-i/

[33] The limits and abuses of authority in the church | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:04

The Word of God is the only absolute unquestionable authority. We should not obey any delegated authority who tells us to sin. In addition, delegated authorities in the church may overstep their proper authority, in which case we should deal with the issue biblically. We must take our commitment to our local church very seriously. The church is like a family and is part of the body of Christ. We must deal with problems biblically and may not leave a church unless it is operating unbiblically, and then we will be held accountable before God, so we must be very sure. Christians are personally responsible to know God’s Word and we must be very careful in finding and joining a local church. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/33-the-limits-an…ty-in-the-church/

[32] Delegated Authority in the Church: Part III | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:13

There is a need for discipline in the church and God has given elders the authority to administer that discipline, although every member of the church is responsible to deal with sin. Ultimately, that discipline can include excommunication, which is the most serious punishment a person can receive because it mirrors God’s actions. A person who has been properly excommunicated and does not repent, will go to hell. There is great pressure on church leaders to not administer proper discipline and to compromise the Word of God. John F. MacArthur recently compromised the Word of God by teaching that pastors have no authority, which is unbiblical and contrary to his own prior teaching.

[31] Delegated Authority in the Church: Part II | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:17

It was standard practice in the New Testament churches to appoint elders, who have God-given authority to interpret and apply the Word of God to the lives of the believers who are under them. Elders in the church today have this same authority. We are blessed by God when we willingly come under the authority of these God-appointed leaders, who hold the keys to the kingdom of Heaven. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/31-delegated-aut…e-church-part-ii/

[30] Delegated Authority in the Church: Part I | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:05

The Word of God is our ultimate authority, but God also delegates authority to pastors and elders to rule his church, which includes the authority to interpret and apply the Word of God to specific situations. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/30-delegated-aut…he-church-part-i/

[29] Delegated Authority in the Family | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:11

Husbands are to lead their wives, while fathers and mothers together are to rule their children. Authority is good and is always to be used to benefit those who are under authority. The family is the most fundamental sphere of authority. Husbands and parents are accountable to God. We will be blessed if we willingly submit to proper authority in the family. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/29-delegated-aut…ty-in-the-family/

[28] Delegated Authority in the State and Family | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:41

There is order and submission within the godhead (called the Economic Trinity) even though all three persons of the godhead are the same in essence, dignity and authority (ontological equality). God also delegates authority in three spheres of human interaction; the family, the church, and the state. Authority is given for the benefit of those who are under it. The state is given the power of the sword. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/28-delegated-aut…state-and-family/

[27] The Authority of the Bible | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:51

Every word of the Bible is inspired by God, and since he knows everything perfectly and exhaustively and cannot lie or make a mistake, the Scriptures themselves must also be infallible. In addition, they have God’s authority as well. Therefore, to disbelieve or disobey the Bible is to disbelieve or disobey God himself, and the Bible must be a Christian’s ultimate authority. God has also delegated authorities in three spheres of society; the family, the church, and the state. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/uncategorized/27-the-authority-of-the-bible/

 [26] A Christmas Message – Christ’s Astounding Love to Us | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:45

The message of the Bible is theocentric, not anthropocentric, so the true meaning of Christmas has nothing to do with social activism or being kind to our neighbors. The true meaning is that God glorifies himself by displaying his unimaginable love in saving sinners. Christ was, and is, the second person of the Holy Trinity, the Creator, Sovereign Lord, Redeemer and Judge of all mankind. But, he loved us enough to humble himself, become a man, live an obedient life, and give himself as a sacrifice to pay for our sins on the cross. http://www.whatdoesthewordsay.org/podcast/26-a-christmas-m…nding-love-to-us/
