Episode 391: Sprig vs Hop Pop and Girl Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:12

GC13 and David discuss Sprig vs Hop Pop and Girl Time from Amphibia. The Plantar family sure has some crazy rituals, doesn’t it? They don’t need your suggestions for that, but Hop Pop will be happy to read them anyway. Jeremy really taught him a lot. And Anne finally got that stick out of her hair. For just one episode, we knew what it could look like. Rest in peace Slippy. (He slipped.)

 Episode 390: Hooty's Moving Hassle | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:41

GC13 and David discuss Hooty’s Moving Hassle from The Owl House. Hooty’s a big boy house, and he’s got the legs to prove it! When he’s been conjured, anyway. Come to think of it, there’s an awful lot we don’t know about the way the conjuring works… And Penstagram. Maybe we’re better off never having that one explained to us, actually. At least Tom the Demon Hunter is out there living his childhood dream: throwing children off of cliffs, and never looking back.

Episode 389: Oscar and the Monsters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:57

GC13 and David discuss the Oscar and the Monsters arc from Summer Camp Island’s fifth season. This time we have not one, but two retcons to consider. Maybe three. It would seem that Summer Camp Island owes its philosophy on worldbuilding more to Adventure Time, where that came much later in the game. Not that any of that stops Summer Camp Island from being awesome. Stuart might disagree, but he’s just… Stuart.

Episode 388: Anne Theft Auto and Breakout Star | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:47

GC13 and David discuss Anne Theft Auto and Breakout Star from Amphibia. Well, Anne Theft Auto was a heartfelt episode forging a connection between Anne and her adoptive frog family. Who couldn’t love that? Once Anne got to reading about Bessie’s history, she couldn’t put the book down, and we couldn’t put this episode away either. Then, of course, we got the acne episode, with a twist: people love it! Well, and the zits disappear in a day, but some things are too unbelievable, even in a cartoon about being transported to a frog world.

 Episode 387: Covention | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:10

GC13 and David discuss Covention from The Owl House. No, it’s not the most fun title to pronounce, but it’s the first we see of Lilith and the Emperor’s Coven, and oh boy is that a good battle between sisters (even if it’s not the safest event to watch from the stands). But whether you’re part of the Swag Coven or the Cat Coven (the Swag Cat Coven, perhaps?), the important thing is that you do your duty and join a coven. The Emperor demands it.

Episode 386: Susie and Her Sister | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:20

GC13 and David discuss the Susie and Her Sister arc from Summer Camp Island’s fifth season. Susie started out so nice and happy. What went wrong? Perhaps she was never meant to live in the moors… Taking that immortality potion probably wasn’t a great idea though. Well, at least Mildred got to live her dream of being a hot corn girl before she lost her family. Hopefully everything turns out alright for her in the end…

Episode 385: The Domino Effect and Taking Charge | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:30

GC13 and David discuss The Domino Effect and Taking Charge from Amphibia. So, we may not know why Anne’s phone battery was able to last so long, but at least we’ve finally found a source of power for it. Maybe in some later episode we’ll finally find out what Suspicion Island secretly was… Probably not a robot. Probably. We may not have surprises, but we don’t need them either! And who do you think would win in a fight? Domino 2 or a Zapapede?

 Episode 384: The Intruder | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:35

GC13, Soren, and David discuss The Intruder, a very important episode of The Owl House. Not only does The Intruder start Luz down the path of magic, it also introduces us to Eda’s curse, something that has defined her adult life and will come up again and again throughout the series. And then there’s King. Whether he’s really an author or not, he’ll always be the king of demons in our book. Except for giraffes. Nobody likes those guys.

Episode 383: Betsy and the Ghost | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:34

GC13 and David discuss the Betsy and the Ghost arc from the fifth season of Summer Camp Island. Are you ready for sad? Because if you remember the first season of Summer Camp Island, you know that this can’t have a happy ending. Poor Betsy… At least now we know Susie wasn’t interfering with Betsy’s love life. On purpose, anyway. This arc’s placement in the season is quite curious, by the way. Watch out for some of Susie’s other ghosts—you might be seeing them in the flesh in the next arc.

Episode 382: Hop Luck and Stakeout | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:21

GC13 and David discuss Hop Luck and Stakeout from Amphibia. Yep, it’s official: Amphibia is a cynical show. And yet everything is so bright and colorful, so fun and funny. Anne may be missing a shoe, but for better or worse she’s with her family, and she is taking a firm stand on the evils of pineapples on pizza. We may not know how she had any energy drink left for her stakeout, we just know that Sprig’s plan was as poorly thought out as it was brilliantly executed.

 Episode 381: I Was A Teenage Abomination | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:16

GC13, Soren, and David discuss I Was A Teenage Abomination from The Owl House. Well, we’re finally here: SCHOOL. Is school in the Burning Isles as horrifying as it is in our world? It looks like it. At the very least it’s headed up by a principal who may or may not have murderous intentions towards our teenage abomination, Luz. But it’s okay! She’s banned from school, so surely she will be completely safe from both murder and the corrupting influence of standardized education. Surely.

Episode 380: Barb and the Spotted Bears | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:38

GC13 and David discuss the Barb and the Spotted Bears arc from the fifth season of Summer Camp Island. What starts out as a cute bedtime story (about putting spotted bears to bed, oddly enough) turns into a very important-feeling story about a pair of interlopers coming to the island to eat a jelly pool. With the spotted bears asleep on the job, the task of defending the island falls on Barb and her newly created elves. And maybe, just maybe, there was a retcon involving the striped horse and bearded sheep. You be the judge.

Episode 379: Cane Crazy and Flood, Sweat and Tears | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:37

GC13 and David discuss Cane Crazy and Flood, Sweat and Tears from Amphibia. Anne is trapped in a frog world, and while we do have our cartoony fun (let’s stop and admire the craftmanship on this clock before we throw it at a monster), Anne is becoming part of a frog family as well. It’s just that, with her warm-blooded body, she might not be the best roommate for a cold-blooded frog. Well, you learn lessons every day. Especially when you’re trapped in a frog world.

 Episode 378: Witches Before Wizards | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:45

GC13, Soren, and David discuss Witches Before Wizards from The Owl House. Right in the second episode The Owl House decides to rip off the chosen one bandaid. Not everything can be Fallout 2, we guess… It’s just as well, since Luz would have been a pretty bad bad girl chosen one. So, whether we ever see a wizard again or not, I think we all learned a valuable lesson today: never trust a man in casual drapery. And maybe be suspicious whenever someone starts telling you exactly what you want to hear. Especially if he’s wearing casual drapery.

Episode 377: Anne or Beast? and Best Fronds | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:20

GC13 and David discuss Amphibia’s first two episodes: Anne or Beast? and Best Fronds. Well if The Owl House started off a little oddly, Amphibia seems to start off like it intends to continue—and that might just include a lot of jokes based on fakeouts. So Anne has been whisked off to another world for a magical adventure, with nothing but her trusty cellphone by her side? No, this isn’t Infinity Train, but we’re here for it anyway.
