Brett and Harley are traveling back to the west coast, to get a bird’s eye view of an oddity that Giorgio Tsoukalos would flip his lid to visit. Welcome to Blythe, CA, home of the mysterious Blythe Intaglios. The story of the Blythe Intaglios starts several thousand years ago….or in a galaxy far, far away. The mysterious builders of these gigantic geoglyphs are still an unknown. Don’t you worry, we have more than a theory or two and we are here to share. Aside from being home to one mystical oddity, Blythe California is known as the center of the water sport universe and is one of the most beautiful stretches of California desert that you can find. We also found a gem of a spot for any rock-hound. The Hauser Geode Beds are famous for the rich and varied gem filled geodes, hiking camping and family fun. With a rebel yell, The Travel Oddities Podcast cried, more, more, more…BBQ. Rebel BBQ is the embodiment of everything a restaurant should be and they have a BLT that tears me up just writing this. The Top 5 from California includes several break-downs by Brett and Harley, but we were setup by Amy. …so really listen to the show or the tree-huggers win!  99 - The Spottsville Monster - Owensboro, KY | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:54

We are back in Kentucky and hoping that we don’t offend the locals(like last time). Brett and Amy are traveling to Owensboro and a spot on the map, called Spottsville to find an oddity that is so terrifying that the locals just call it the Spottsville monster. So what is the Spottsville monster? How does a red-eyed, chicken stealing bigfoot sound? This cryptid is spooky, but don’t let that sway you from the fun along the banks of the Green River. There is more to do in the town of Owensboro than you could find at Disneyland. We discuss the Haunts of Owensboro Ghost Tour and then Amy explains why haunted carriage rides are not for picky agoraphobes with no taste for the outdoors. If you are planning a trip to hunt for the Spottsville Monster, be sure to pack your spell-book so you can try some voodoo Supernatural tricks which will be fully explained in this very special episode. No Episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast would be complete without a place to grab a bite, and Amy and Brett decided to go all high class with Shrimp from Bill’s Restaurant. The Top 5 some sticky stuff on the back, so we are going to write our grocery list on it….some of us need sleep, so deal with my weird ramblings or just listen to the damn show already. Highway 74 or the Haunted Ortega Highway has claims of hauntings and many other odd sightings, and since it has seen more than its fair share of death, it’s no wonder why it is considered one of the most haunted places in California.  97 - Wisconsin Death Trip - Black River Falls, WI | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:51

ODDTOBER has drawn to an end and the weather is turning colder. There’s a distinct chill in the air and the darkness of night comes earlier and earlier. So, settle in with Brett and Amy as they tell the tale of the horrors of Wisconsin in the late 19th century. In 1973, Michael Lesy published the now cult classic, Wisconsin Death Trip. In the last decade of the 19th century, life in Black River Falls was filled with madness, suicide, murder, disease and child mortality. The horrors perpetrated by the citizens of Jackson County are depicted in stark reality in the photographs taken between 1890 and 1910 by a local photographer, with extracts from the local newspaper, the Badger State Banner, and from the records of the local mental asylum. All this murder and madness can work up an appetite so we’ll stop by Re-Pete’s Saloon and Grill for some tasty treats. We’ll tell you all about the famous Re-Pete Offender and how you can win your very own Re-Pete t-shirt. If you’re ready to walk off that giant lunch, we’ll take a trip to the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center. Learn all about the annual Wisconsin Cranberry Festival as you tour the interactive cranberry museum. Stop by the vintage ice cream parlor for a variety of cranberry flavored ice creams and visit their gift shop for some fantastic cranberry treats.  96 - Raven's Grin Inn - Mount Carroll, IL | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:48

Grab a coat and button up, Oddballs. It gets a bit chilly where we’re heading. The beautiful New England-esque town of Mount Carroll Illinois holds the record for some frigid temperatures but the beauty of the quaint little midwestern town is sure to warm you right up. What do you do with a ramshackle old 19th century mansion with no plumbing or electricity that sits just a block away from a creepy old cemetery? If you’re Jim Warfield, you drop three grand on it and spend the next 20 years fulfilling your lifelong dream of creating your very own wacky house of horrors. And if creepy secret passageways and slides that shoot you from the roof to 24 feet underground aren’t enough to lure you in, there are always the real ghosts….. While you’re in town, stop by the Timber Lake Playhouse and grab a seat for their current stage production of Howard Ashman’s Little Shop of Horrors. Opened in 1962, they are the oldest semiprofessional summer stock theater company in Illinois. Where do the hair impaired in Mount Carroll go to grab a quick bite to eat? To the BaldGuyz Coffee and Bistro, of course! Monster cheese burgers, Italian sodas and cinnamon bun frappes will leave you drooling on Granny’s apron. Tell her we said hi! And the good news is, you don’t have to be bald to indulge in their delicious fare. Just don’t rub it in with the focially impaired. Mt. Carroll Bald Guyz Bistro Mt.
