 120 - Rehmeyer's Hollow - Stewartstown, PA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:51

Brett was left alone in the studio this week…. On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett fight through the pollen to visit Stewartstown, PA. Brett had a great interview with Andrew D. Gable, author of The Mystery Animals of Pennsylvania. Andrew has a depth of knowledge about all things strange and spent his youth in Pennsylvania. We discuss Rehmeyer’s Hollow, which may be one of the strangest places we have ever covered on our show. What is Rehmeyer’s Hollow or The Hex Hollow? Who do the Pennsylvania Dutch and witchcraft tie into the legend? What book is Andrew working on now? Stewartstown was originally claimed by both Maryland and Pennsylvania, and this dispute was not settled until the survey of the Mason–Dixon Line in 1767. If you are trying to find this sleepy little town, ask for directions to “the Maryland line” because unless you’re from Stewartstown, you’ve never heard of it. The Turkey Hill Experience is not booze, but a neat look into the inner workings of the culture of Turkey Hill Dairy….you get to milk a mechanical cow. Paesano’s in New Freedom is a pizzeria straight from the old country. We never thought of putting meatballs on a pizza, but this place has and we can’t wait to visit! Stick around for the outtakes….Harley has broken Brett’s muppeteer heart. We are considering changing the Top 5 to the Top 16….for reasons.  119 - Aberdeen Wild Man - Joppatowne, MD | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:12:18

Harley and Brett finally let Amy out of the dungeon. On this week’s episode, Amy, Brett and Harley get all dolled up for a night on the town in Joppatowne, Maryland. Amy has a lost love connection with author Frank J. Bennett. Frank is a sexy man, but he also had some seriously strange encounters with a creature called the Aberdeen Wildman near Joppatowne. What is the Aberdeen Wildman? Who is the Aberdeen Wildman’s tailor? I’d like to meet his tailor. How hot was Frank Bennett in his teens? Maryland is all about the water and so are we. From nationally acclaimed aquariums to harbor cruises, if you like the ocean, you will LOVE Maryland. Dr. Gloom’s Crypt of Curiosities in the back of Protean Books & Records may be one of the strangest museums we have ever found. Diablo Donuts will fill you with happy feelings. From their crack-like hot cocoa donut to their nitro coffee, you are sure to be in breakfast heaven. How do you break the seal of trust with the paranormal?  118 - The Museum of Natural History - Phoenix, AZ | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:29:05

On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett have to brave the heat to explore a beautiful desert city, Phoenix, AZ. Phoenix is a thriving desert metropolis, the fifth most populous city in the country and is steeped in Native history. We have a great talk with Katie Mullaly and J. Patrick Ohlde about The Museum of Natural History in Phoenix. Katie and Patrick are prolific Paranormal Authors and Investigators. What is Sensory Replication and how does it apply to the field of the paranormal? Does the museum come to life at night? Why would a demon be stuck in a nightstand? Who were the Hohokam people? Where did they go? Should we do a full show? If you are tired of chasing ghosts through priceless historical artifacts, may we suggest Curious Nature?  117 - Great Serpent Mound - Peebles, OH | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:50:30

One week back from the Ozark Mountains UFO Conference and we are all still a little slap-happy! On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett have to strip off the excess gear to fully explore one of the most scenic areas in all of Ohio, Peebles, OH. This place was apparently built for hikers. With miles of trails, you can hike for days or take an afternoon exploring one of the smaller trails. We have an interview with Ross Hamilton about the Great Serpent Mound and he is smarter than us. We discuss his 12 year exploration of the Serpent Mound and his book The Mystery of the Serpent Mound. What is the origin of the Serpent Mound? What is its astronomical significance? Why was it built here? Who were the Adena people? Is the Serpent Mound a path to enlightenment, a map of the stars, haunted, or an intergalactic Phillips 66? There are events feature drumming, sweat lodges, healing ceremonies, and crystal skulls at the mound. What is Sound Current meditation? If you have already found enlightenment, you can always check out the Cedar Trails Nudist Retreat. It is family orientated and they have loads of activities….we tried to not make it weird….that didn’t work.  116 - Windigo Lake - Ten Lake Township, MN | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:06

Amy, Brett, Matt and Harley just got back from the Ozark Mountains UFO conference. More to come on that topic. On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett get to explore the beautiful Ten Lake Township in Minnesota. You can expect that Brett will use his MinneSOOOtah accent. We discuss the Wendigo at Windigo Lake in the Chippewa National Forest. Is the Wendigo a physical being or a spectre? Is it Wendigo or Windigo? We don’t know the answer to these questions, so we brought in an expert. Chad Lewis, prolific author and Legend Tripper and honorary Travel Oddities Crew joins us to discuss this, the creepiest of cryptid/ghost things…. This oddity is spooky, but not as scary as traversing this area in the winter….dunna’ do eh. Chippewa National Forest has twenty-three developed campgrounds, 100 back-country sites, 160 miles of hiking trails, 900 miles of river and three of the largest lakes in the state. On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett fight the spring snow to explore Abbeville, Alabama, you know….the Yellowhammer State, the “Heart of Dixie” or the “CottonState”. We discuss a creepy haunting, phantom, cryptid or something called Huggin’ Molly. How scary can it be with a name like Huggin’ Molly? This oddity may or may not scare you, but don’t let that keep you from traveling here. The town is like a time-capsule. The Statue of Leroy Brown, the famous fish? Yes we are telling fish stories and ours is bigger than yours. Brett spends some time explaining his theories on hugs and he is offering free hugs from the back of his panel van. So come one, come all… No Episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast would be complete without a place to grab a bite. Huggin’ Molly’s restaurant obviously has been listening to our show. We visited Cleveland Ohio back in December for an Odd Spot on the A Christmas Story house and Harley and Brett had to return because Cleveland has so much more going on. We start with the curse of Franklin Castle. There are a lot of rumors of death and dismemberment around this 1800s Victorian home. We discuss the history and the ghosts that have apparently moved into the house. Since we are back in town, we couldn’t pass up a short stop to the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft and Magic. This creepy little museum is a must see for a variety of reasons….we think they have the Necronomicon in the back. TableTop Board Game Café seems like it is right up our Diagon Alley. With over a thousand board games and food like their Savory Gravory Waffles…..waffles and sausage gravy….our arteries will be sweating for sure.  111 - Wolf Woman of Mobile - Mobile, AL | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:24

All right, Oddballs, this one is a little strange, but Mobile, AL is way cooler than the weather forecasts would lead you to believe. This melting pot of people, flavors, cultures and traditions has much to offer, both traditional and supernatural. Have you ever heard of the wolf-woman of Mobile? Witnesses described the creature as “pretty and hairy,” and “the top half was a woman and the bottom was a wolf.” Lock your doors and bar your windows, this creature is terrifying and more woman than you can handle. While you’re running from the wolf-woman, stop by the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial and take the self guided tour of the USS Alabama, the Korean War Memorial or the Vietnam War memorial. They have a submarine…jest sayin’. With all that running from were-creatures and walking tours of battleships, you might work up an appetite. Might we recommend Wintzell’s Oyster House? On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett are loading the van for a trip into the forest in Adirondack Park, in Northville, New York.
