The Horse Show: S3E15 - Drama in Endurance plus Jonelle Price | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:21

It's the first day of competition at the FEI World Equestrian Games which got underway at 7am with the endurance. Alas, chaos reined as some riders were misdirected by the stewards and got lost so the FEI decided to restart the race at the first vet gate some 40 miles into the 100 mile race.  The race then became a 120km (74 mile) long and some teams were unhappy with this decision.  Elsewhere the the first day of dressage saw no surprises among the leading nations as the teams compete for medals and the first round of qualification after the Grand Prix  will see the top 30 riders going through to the Grand Prix Special on Friday.  The eventers had their veterinary inspection today and will begin the first day of dressage tomorrow. I caught up with New Zealand's Jonelle Price to talk about her current form and how she feels going into the games with the mare Classic Moet whom she rode to 4th place at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in France and earlier this year won the Badminton Horse Trials in England. Jonelle also tells us how she feels about competing as a new mom. Chris also walked the cross country course and rounds up the day's events.  Ready Steady Rehab: S1E11 - Shoe Fitting and Orthotic Prescriptions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:34

On this episode, Dr. Heather North explains how shoe fitting and foot movement has that there is no scientific evidence to favor orthotic prescriptions.  Shoes that change eversion or control the foot don’t really change the movement path but rather range of motion. Foot pronation or eversion may not be a contributor to running injuries. It's an interesting analysis of how feet behave and the importance of examination of your feet as an athlete to ensure you adapt to changes and wear the exact right shoe for your foot and your activity.  Off the Track: S1E9 - 2018 RollerCon Discusses People of Color | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:15

On this week's episode we hear an extract from the recent RollerCon discussing people of color hosted by Mick Swagger from Team Indigenous: "Most important thing I've been a part of in roller derby to date. Winning Hydras and playing top ten doesn't matter when oppression exists on your team and within your league. The obsession with winning that trophy seems to make people forget to treat each other well and that is just not something I can be quiet about anymore. This exists at every level in this sport and we are here to talk about it and continue to talk about it until people, leagues and our governing bodies take action.  "This podcast is an important step for Roller Derby. It is the first time there has been a Panel RollerCon centering the voices of POC. Team Indigenous was honored to be host this panel, featuring incredible panelists who shared their thoughtful and honest experiences as a POC in roller derby.  Thank You to Ana Cheng, Soledad Derby, TJ Edwards, Jen Bennett and Melissa Mick for facilitating this discussion. We cannot thank you enough for your bravery and getting this conversation off to a start. There are so many places we can go and much to learn and achieve."
