The Off-Season is that time of year when a cyclist takes time away from the bike and begins the process of rebuilding for the next season.  It can be as short as 3 months and as long as 6 months depending on training experience, race schedules, weather, fitness, and health.  The Off-Season most often takes place during the winter months when it becomes difficult to ride outside....but even those in milder climates need the Off-Season as well. All athletes need to take a break from the rigors of riding, training, and racing.  Doing so will cause you to loose some fitness, but will allow you to build upon what you haven't lost....and make you even stronger. In this podcast, we discuss: Why can’t cyclists just hammer straight through the off-season? Recreational cyclists may not be following a structured training regimen so do they have an off-season? What should be done during the Off-Season? The Phases of the Off-Season. Outcome vs Performance goals. Resources to help get you through the Off-Season.
