FLOW #5 - 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 634

Jordan Peterson's new book has fundamentally changed my life and expanded all of the ideas I had running through my mind. I can't recommend this book enough. If you don't like reading you can listen to this podcast as well as the thousands of videos on YouTube of Jordan's lectures for free. One day I'm going to get Peterson on this podcast. But, for now, listen to this and let me know what you think! 1. Stand up straight with your shoulders straight
Most lobsters are complete bastards left to their own devices. Most humans are complete bastards left to their own devices. This proves there is a God who wants us to have Order. Order is Masculine and Chaos is Feminine. Therefore to move towards Order, we all need to man up. Happiness is pointless. We are all on this Earth to suffer. So learn to suffer like a man. Not everyone can be as rich and successful as me, but try to be less of a failure than you already are.
2. Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping
The story of the Garden of Eden shows that we are all touched with Original Sin But you have a choice. You can either seek Heaven or be dragged down into Hell. Yes, you have a shameful, sinful nature but for God’s sake just make a bit of an effort. Stop waiting for other people to dig you out of your pitiful hole.
3. Befriend people who want the best for you
We are all Being. Just some of us are better Beings. Learn to tell the difference. Some people are beyond help. They are merely exploiting the willingness of good people to help them and, as Dostoyevsky rightly observes, will drag you down to their level. So stick with the winners. If people are determined to screw up, let them. They are nothing to do with the Divine Purpose.
4. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not the useless person you are today
Face it, you’re never going to be that smart, so don’t compare yourself to someone who is. Start by getting on your knees to pray. Even if you don’t Believe in God. Atheists are merely people who are blinded to the true way of Being. There, you feel marginally less useless already.
5. Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them
Remember that children are born with Original Sin and have a huge capacity for Evil. They are not Innocent Beings. They need Discipline if they are going to grow up to be even vaguely worthwhile humans. And slap them if necessary – don’t listen to what the lefties say.
6. Set your house in order before you criticise the world
Remember the story of Cain and Abel? Well, read it then. Yes, Abel was a schmuck who deserved to die and Cain wasn’t quite as goddamn perfect as he thought he was. He deserved to die, too. We all deserve to die. So stop moaning if someone is richer and better looking than you.
7. Pursue what is meaningful, not what is expedient
Life is suffering. The Book of Genesis tells us that. There is no easy way round this. So quit looking for short cuts and start reading Nietzsche.
8. Tell the truth. Or at least don’t lie
To be honest, I’m scrabbling around for thingsbut my publishers tell me I need 12. By telling you the Truth about this, I am an Improved Being. Certainly better than you.
9. Assume the person you are listening to knows something you don’t
Just shut up, quit moaning and listen to me. I know things you don’t. So don’t expect me to listen to you. That’s not the way things work. I’m here to make you feel Better about Yourself by telling you things you already know in a way that makes you feel clever.
10. Be precise in your speech
Confront the chaos of Being. Don’t try to beat about the bush. Things are going to be terrible. Oedipus killed his Dad. You may well kill yours. Get over it. Face up to the real horrors of the world.
11. Do not bother children while they are skateboarding
This is the rule that’s the real catnip for...

As children, we learned to get approval by creating facades to help us get our emotional and psychological needs met, but we also rebelled against authority as a way of individuating. As adults, these conflicting desires leave many of us feeling anxious or depressed because our authentic selves are buried deep beneath glitzy or rebellious exteriors or some combination thereof. In this provocative book, eclectic teacher and therapist Ira Israel offers a powerful, comprehensive, step-by-step path to recognizing the ways of being that we created as children and transcending them with compassion and acceptance. By doing so, we discover our true callings and cultivate the authentic love we were born deserving. If you would like more information on Ira please check out the following links below:Ira's Site - http://iraisrael.com/How to Survive Your Childhood Now That You’re an Adult: A Path to Authenticity and Awakening - https://www.amazon.com/Survive-Your-Childhood-Youre-Adult/dp/1608685071Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ira_israel/Humans 2.0 Twitter - https://twitter.com/Humans2PodcastTwitter - https://twitter.com/markymetryMedium - https://medium.com/@markymetryFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/mark.metry.9Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/markmetry/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-metry/Mark Metry - https://www.markmetry.com/

FLOW #4 - How to Achieve a Flow State and Quadruple your Productivity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 819

Wonder how to enter the miraculous borderland between dreams and reality? A present world where you are reacting dynamically to stimuli in a way that feels magical. FLOW, also known as the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. When you’re in the state of Flow, you:- are completely focused on the task at hand;- forget about yourself, about others, about the world around you;- lose track of time;- feel happy and in control; and- become creative and productive. It's being in the moment, focusing completely on a single task, and finding a sense of calm and happiness in your work. Flow is exactly that.I believe the ability to single-task (as opposed to multi-task) is one of the keys to true productivity. Not the kind of productivity where you knock off 20 items from your to-do list (although that can be satisfying), where you’re switching between tasks all day long and keep busy all the time. The true productivity I mean is the kind where you actually achieve your goals, where you accomplish important and long-lasting things. As a writer, that might mean writing one or two important and memorable articles rather than 20 or 50 unimportant ones that people will forget 5 minutes after reading them. It means getting key projects done rather than answering a bunch of emails, making a lot of phone calls, attending a bunch of meetings, and shuffling paperwork all day long. It means closing key deals. It means quality instead of quantity. And once you’ve learned to focus on those kinds of important projects and tasks, Flow is how you get them done. You lose yourself in those important and challenging tasks, and instead of being constantly interrupted by minor things (calls, emails, IMs, coworkers, etc.), you are able to focus on the tasks long enough to actually complete them. And by losing yourself in them, you enjoy yourself more. You reduce stress while increasing quality output. You get important stuff done instead of just getting things done. You achieve things rather than just keeping busy.Flow is one of the keys to all of that.Source - zenhabits.netPlease do NOT hesitate to reach out to me on Instagram, Twitter or via email mark@vudream.comHumans 2.0 Twitter - https://twitter.com/Humans2PodcastTwitter - https://twitter.com/markymetryMedium - https://medium.com/@markymetryFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/mark.metry.9Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/markmetry/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-metry/Mark Metry - https://www.markmetry.com/

#51 - Jeff Haden | Motivation is a Myth! How High Achievers Really Set Themselves Up to Win | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2846

Jeff Haden is the Best-selling author of The Motivation Myth, LinkedIn Influencer, Inc. Magazine Contributing Editor and Speaker. The Motivation Myth overturns the beloved (but false) idea that motivation leads to success, instead, small successes lead to constant motivation - and let you achieve your biggest goals while also having more fun."Jeff Haden is one of the biggest writers working online today not because he's a genius but because he follows the advice in this book. It's not about motivation, it's about process--and hard work."—Ryan Holiday, author of The Obstacle is the Way and Ego is the EnemyIt's comforting to imagine that superstars in their fields were just born better equipped than the rest of us. When a co-worker loses 20 pounds, or a friend runs a marathon while completing a huge project at work, we assume they have more grit, more willpower, more innate talent, and above all, more motivation to see their goals through. But that's not at actually true, as popular Inc.com columnist Jeff Haden proves. "Motivation" as we know it is a myth. Motivation isn't the special sauce that we require at the beginning of any major change. In fact, motivation is a result of process, not a cause. Understanding this will change the way you approach any obstacle or big goal. Haden shows us how to reframe our thinking about the relationship of motivation to success. He meets us at our level--at the beginning of any big goal we have for our lives, a little anxious and unsure about our way forward, a little burned by self help books and strategies that have failed us in the past—and offers practical advice that anyone can use to stop stalling and start working on those dreams. Haden takes the mystery out of accomplishment, proving that success isn't about spiritual awakening or a lightning bolt of inspiration --as Tony Robbins and adherents of The Secret believe--but instead, about clear and repeatable processes. Using his own advice, Haden has consistently drawn 2 million readers a month to his posts, completed a 107-mile long mountain bike race, and lost 10 pounds in a month. Success isn't for the uniquely-qualified; it's possible for any person who understands the true nature of motivation. Jeff Haden can help you transcend average and make lasting positive change in your life.If you would like more information on Jeff please check out the following links below:Jeff Haden - https://www.jeffhaden.comThe Motivation Myth Book - https://www.amazon.com/Motivation-Myth-Achievers-Really-Themselves/dp/0399563768/Jeff's LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/hadenjeff/Jeff's Twitter - https://twitter.com/jeff_hadenHumans 2.0 Twitter - https://twitter.com/Humans2PodcastTwitter - https://twitter.com/markymetryMedium - https://medium.com/@markymetryFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/mark.metry.9Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/markmetry/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-metry/Mark Metry - https://www.markmetry.com/

FLOW #3 - The One Quality All Successful People Have In Common (Not Motivation) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 428

Welcome to Episode 3 of the Humans 2.0 Podcast mini-series.....FLOW! Today I talk to you about the 1 trait I've distilled from all of the successful people on the Humans 2.0 podcast.FLOW, also known as the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. It seems every day you log online you see dozens and dozens of motivational and self-help articles and books. I read these all the time and to be honest....a lot of them are just plain wrong. Self-development is a tricky subject because we are all different. Which is why this one trick/hack/tip is so useful, it applies to all of us listening.  FLOW #2 - Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Technology Will Upgrade Human Consciousness | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1163

Welcome to episode 2 of the Humans 2.0 Podcast mini-series.....FLOW! Tune in to listen to the innovative technological fields of virtual reality and augmented reality that will impregnate the universe with magical innovation. FLOW, also known as the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.- Virtual reality (VR) immerses users in a fully artificial digital environment.- Augmented reality (AR) overlays virtual objects on the real-world environment.- Mixed reality (MR) not just overlays but anchors virtual objects to the real world. The definition of virtual reality comes, naturally, from the definitions of both ‘virtual’ and ‘reality’. The definition of ‘virtual’ is near and reality is what we experience as human beings. So the term ‘virtual reality’ basically means ‘near-reality’. This could, of course, mean anything but it usually refers to a specific type of reality emulation. We know the world through our senses and perception systems. We all learned that we have five senses: taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing. These are however only our most obvious sense organs. The truth is that humans have many more senses than this, such as a sense of balance for example. These other sensory inputs, plus some special processing of sensory information by our brains ensures that we have a rich flow of information from the environment to our minds.Everything that we know about our reality comes by way of our senses. In other words, our entire experience of reality is simply a combination of sensory information and our brains sense-making mechanisms for that information. It stands to reason then, that if you can present your senses with made-up information, your perception of reality would also change in response to it. You would be presented with a version of reality that isn’t really there, but from your perspective, it would be perceived as real. Something we would refer to as a virtual reality. So, in summary, virtual reality entails presenting our senses with a computer-generated virtual environment that we can explore in some fashion. In technical terms…Answering “what is virtual reality” in technical terms is straight-forward. Virtual reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional, computer-generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. That person becomes part of this virtual world or is immersed in this environment and whilst there, is able to manipulate objects or perform a series of actions. How is virtual reality achieved?Although we talk about a few historical early forms of virtual reality elsewhere on the site, today virtual reality is usually implemented using computer technology. There is a range of systems that are used for this purpose, such as headsets, omnidirectional treadmills and special gloves. These are used to actually stimulate our senses together in order to create the illusion of reality. This is more difficult than it sounds, since our senses and brains are evolved to provide us with a finely synchronized and mediated experience. If anything is even a little off we can usually tell. This is where you’ll hear terms such as immersiveness and realism enter the conversation. These issues that divide convincing or enjoyable virtual reality experiences from jarring or unpleasant ones are partly technical and partly conceptual. Virtual reality technology needs to take our physiology into account. For example, the human visual field does not look like a video frame. We have (more or less) 180 degrees of vision and although you are not always consciously aware of your peripheral vision, if it were gone you’d notice. Similarly when what your eyes and the vestibular system in your ears...
