The M's had an off day yesterday but with the Angels losing, they managed to pick up a half game on them. If the M's play just .500 ball the rest of the way, the Angels would have to play 17 games over .500 to catch them. The M's start their road trip against the Yankees today and it's obviously going to be a difficult few days playing the next six games at Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park. Would you take a 2-4 record after these next six games? There's been a lot of talk about the Mariners acquiring JA Happ, and he'd certainly make the rotation better, but do we really need another starting pitcher? We ask Bret Boone about this and more as he gives insight into what it's like to be on a Mariners team that's dominating.
ESPN.com's Kevin Pelton talks to us about the upcoming NBA Draft, what might happen next with LeBron, and the future of the Sonics. Michael Porter Jr. could go number one in the Draft this week. He obviously played here in the state of Washington briefly but didn't spend much time here. You can't really claim that he's the best player to come out of Washington state, but maybe the best player to ever play in Washington state. It was a quick elimination from the College World Series for the Dawgs after a long rain delay yesterday. Lindsay Meggs, UW's head coach recaps the game and the team's season. Textimonials react to the first two hours of the show.
The World Cup has begun, and some pretty weird stories have emerged. We get you updated on the best stories from Russia that aren't directly related to the games themselves. Washington Nationals rookie is a time traveler. All the best audio from around sports on Hey, Did You Hear That? Listeners explain the outrage over Landon Donovan rooting for Mexico. The Huskies are at 3-to-1 odds to win the National Championship. Is the bet worth it?
The daunting four-game series against the Red Sox is over and the M's got through it, splitting it with Boston two games a piece. Obviously a split isn't a series win, but it's hard to be upset about splitting a series with one of the best teams in baseball. Before we played the Astros, we said we'd be happy if the M's went 13-12 over the final 25 games in June. So far, they're 9-4. If you could guarantee the Mariners would make the wild card game, and that they'd get it at home, would you take it or would you take your chances fighting for the division? We take your votes on Regional Reaction. At this point, the M's have a 75 percent chance of making the playoffs, and only three teams in the wild card era have won 46 or more games in their first 72 and not made the playoffs.
Mike Leech tweeted out a video that's causing a lot of controversy, not only for it's political content, but because it was heavily edited to send a misleading message. Coug fans, are you bothered by Leech's tweets? ROOT Sports' Bill Krueger discusses the M's chances of making the playoffs, who would get bumped if the M's acquired Happ, and a lot more as the M's prepare to hit the road for a series against the Yankees. On Textimonials: Listeners debate whether they'd take a guaranteed M's wild card spot, or they'd risk it to play for the division, and Cougar fans comment on Mike Leech.
Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer joins the show to talk about the team's past week, the first World Cup weekend, and the Sounders' next opponent, the Chicago Fire. We give you the best pieces of audio you might have missed on another edition of Hey, Did You Hear That? Does Tiger have a chance to win another major? Not only has it been a very long time, but his age is starting to catch up with him. Matt "Stretch" Johnson callss us live from Russia to discuss the 2018 World Cup.
Softy is still out of town in New York. Today, Eldridge Recasner joins Dick as we broadcast live from Jimmy's on First. The long-awaited series against the Red Sox is finally underway and unfortunately the M's lost game 1, but Felix looked solid which is a nice change of pace. With the NBA Playoffs now over, we get Eldridge Recasner's take on the series, and what might happen next in the league. Could Kawhi Leonard be headed to the Lakers, and could that be a sign that LeBron is also on his way out west? Eldridge's thoughts on the era of the super-team. Could the one-and-done era be about to end? How does Eldridge Recasner feel about high schoolers being able to potentially head straight to the league?
Mariners starting pitcher Marco Gonzales talks about the keys to the team's success this year, and what's led to his personal improvements in the past few months. Corey Brock from The Athletic joins us as he does every Friday at 4:20 to talk about the red hot Mariners who continue their huge series against the Red Sox tonight. Eldridge Recasner is surprised by the negativity from some non-believers who still think the Mariners will fail, on Textimonials.
We get Eldridge Recasner's take on the Earl Thomas situation. Should they give him a new deal or not? Jerry Remy, Red Sox color commentator talks about the Sox series against the M's, and why the fanbase travels so well. On Hey, Did You Hear That?: Stephen A. Smith goes off on Tiger Woods, Mike Pereira says the targeting rule can't easily be enforced, Tiger Woods talks about his game, and more. We run Eldridge's response to Mariners non-believers through the slowcomotive. It's Game 2 of the Mariners / Red Sox series. We get you ready for the game on Baseball's Heritage Pre-Game Show.
Donald Watts is in studio with us today as Softy heads to New York for a couple of days. The Mariners got the sweep against the Angels, and now the real test begins with the first of four against the Red Sox tonight. The Seattle Storm's Jewell Loyd talks about the team's 7-3 start, being influenced by Kobe Bryant, and the growth of the WNBA. Donald Watts takes a few minutes to discuss his basketball camps, and how you can help donate to scholarships that will cover the cost for under-privileged kids.
After watching a playoff run that re-ignited the age-old debate over whether he's the best of all time, and then the series against the Warriors where everything suddenly changed, Donald Watts weighs in on LeBron James. On Hey, Did You Hear That?: Cliff Avril comments on the Earl Thomas situation, Charles Barkley says the LeBron story isn't going to hijack his life, LaVar Ball claims he knows LeBron will become a Laker, and more. Dick asks Mariners fans who doubted the team and have come around, and those who still don't believe, and share their thoughts on Textimonials.

We set the lineups and hear from the skipper on Baseball's Heritage Pre-Game Show.
It was announced today that North America (the US, Canada, and Mexico) will all host the 2026 World Cup together. The year 2026 is still a long way off though. Which will happen first, the North American World Cup, or Seattle getting the NBA back? Teams can move pretty fast. The Pac-12 doesn't seem to be bringing in as much money as the other Power Five conferences. College football is not as likely to bring in fans on the West coast the way it does in the Midwest or the South. Regardless, the fan experience over the last decade hasn't helped. Seahawks wide receiver Amara Darboh talks to us about how he's changed as a player between this year and hast, how the coaching shakeup has impacted his game, and the ways in which Doug Baldwin has been a mentor. Petros Papadakis weighs in on the addition of even more bowl games, Russell Wilson's alter ego, and Mariners fandom.
We've been told over and over again that the Mariners can't beat good teams, but the M's beat the Angels last night. They're now 16-10 against teams above .500, and they're 18 games above .500 for the first time since 2007. The team's starting rotation has been outstanding.... everyone except Felix that is. He has an ERA of 5 since last August so this isn't just a short-term thing. How long should we give him to turn it around, and what should be done if he can't? We're giving you a chance to win some pretty cool prizes in the Major Golf Challenge. Pick the top golfer from each of the nine categories playing in the US Open and you could win.
