 Ep.277: Dr. Dani Urcuyo SteadyMD | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:14

We are excited to welcome Dr. Dani Urcuyo to GGW this week! Dani is a Family and Functional Medicine doctor who works with patients all around the country via SteadyMD. Dani is also CrossFitter and strong believer in the functional fitness model of health (in fact, you might recognize him as Julie Foucher’s husband), and we talk with him about the SteadyMD model of care, why he loves it as a physician, how it’s different for patients, and why it’s gaining popularity so quickly. We also chat with Dani about his opinions on diets, long-term health goals, and the real things we all need to be focusing on when it comes to our health… Hint: It’s not a snatch PR or bodyweight percentage.  Ep.276: Dr. Becky Campbell | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:42

Dr. Becky Campbell is a functional medicine doctor who specializes in helping patients with thyroid disorders, autoimmune disorders, and heavy metal toxicity. After going through the ringer with her own health issues as a young adult, including thyroid issues, plus candida, parasites, and high cortisol, she switched her med school focus to functional medicine and now helps people all over the country recognize symptoms and get treatment when other doctors may have dismissed them. In this episode we answer a ton of listener questions, including talking about traditional vs. functional lab values, warning signs for thyroid issues, and how to advocate for yourself and your health even when other doctors may be telling you nothing is wrong.  Bonus Episode: Postpartum Mood Disorders with Noelle Tarr | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:28:22

This bonus episode is a special conversation between Claire and Noelle Tarr of Coconuts & Kettlebells and the Well Fed Women Podcast. Both Claire and Noelle experienced serious postpartum mood disorders following the births of their first children, and we have always felt that these topics just aren’t talked about widely enough. It’s reported that at least 1 in 7 women experience postpartum mood disorders like postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety, yet many of us have never heard someone discuss what it’s like to actually go through it. This episode is an honest conversation about our individual experiences, including the moments we both knew we needed help, what we did to recover, how to better prepare for the postpartum period if you are pregnant, and what you may want to look out for if you are a new mom or know a new mom. Specific resources talked about in this episode: http://www.postpartum.net/ and Children’s Hospital Colorado Healthy Expectations Program Find more from Noelle at CoconutsandKettlebells.com, on the Well Fed Women Podcast, or on Instagram @coconutsandkettlebells Support the podcast!  Ep.275: Tell Me More | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:06

It’s a J&C Q&A episode, and it’s been a while since it was just the two of us! We catch up on our lives lately, talk about our experience in Tahoe with the Mind Pump guys at the #PODCASTHARD event, and answer lots of listener questions. We also talk about the fact that it’s been a tough few weeks for a lot of women in this country with the recent Supreme Court hearings, and how it’s ok if you are feeling a little rough around the edges right now. We give some insight into how to approach conversations with people in your life whose experiences may not match yours, and how to support those who you know are struggling. Support the podcast!  Ep.274: Laura Ligos The Sassy Dietician | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:47

You’ve heard us talk about our favorite RD, Laura Ligos – well she’s finally back on the podcast this week (check out Ep.179 for her first GGW appearance)! We talk about the difference between dietitians vs nutrition coaches, and what Laura is doing to debunk the stereotype that all dietitians are still using the food pyramid. We also talk about body positivity, fat shaming, the importance of sleep, and how to start small with revamping your relationship with food. Sassy Dietician Support the podcast!  Ep.273: Armen Hammer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:01

Armen Hammer, ladies and gentlemen! If you don’t know who Armen is, do you even go here? Armen is one of the original hosts of the Wodcast Podcast, and one of our inspirations for starting our own podcast in the first place. This week we get to fangirl a little bit, and also chat with him about the evolution of media in the CrossFit sphere. We discuss his own development as a podcaster and video host, and how some things are bound to grow and adapt, while other things (like sneaking microphones into the CrossFit Games) never change. You can check Armen’s stuff out on Armen Hammer TV. SPONSORED BY FOUR ATHLETICS Support the podcast! Click the SUBSCRIBE button on iTunes! Please leave us a review on iTunes!  Ep.270: Greg Glassman and CrossFit Health | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:20

We are so excited to welcome Greg Glassman, founder and chairman of CrossFit, back to the podcast this week (check out episode 174 for his first appearance)! We sat down with Greg to hear a little bit more about the thought process behind the recent CrossFit Games changes, and how this signals a shift in priorities for CrossFit as a whole. We also discuss the growth of CrossFit Health and the CFMDL1 program, why Greg thinks it’s important to be working directly with physicians, and why he says he’s not in the business of slinging data or out to change public health.
