Joy has a new dog! And he snores through this whole episode, while Claire stresses out about signing up for a weightlifting meet and Joy talks about her 2-week break from CrossFit and how awesome it is to run at sea level. We also talk about Claire’s bachelorette party and find out that Joy has been danced on by male strippers not once, but two times. Don’t worry, you can hear her blushing.
Joy is still in California, but you’re in luck because we recorded this episode before she left… which means that we are talking to you from way in the past! We’re in the future now, guys! Crazy. In this episode, we talk about the Zone Diet and Orthorexia, working on gaining weight instead of losing weight with Paleo and CrossFit, and why you should never WOD by yourself. Hint: It’s not because it’s dangerous, it’s because you will quit if no one else is suffering with you. True story.
Last week was a big week of PR’s for Joy and Claire, but Joy had some mental blocks to break through, so it was time for a bit of a therapy sesh. Because as it turns out, hitting PR’s can be even more mental than physical. We also have a follow-up from episode 15b about CrossFit HQ’s photo choices, including some insight into a convo we had with the ladies of CrossFit Media themselves!
We have a guest! Will White from Caveman Cafeteria joins us as we discuss all things CrossFit, paleo, and….yoga? That’s right you guys. Will is ‘that handstand guy’ in yoga class. An entrepreneur AND handstand guy? Too much awesome to handle.
Let’s be honest, do you take enough rest days? We probably don’t. Yes, it can be hard to take a day off, whether it’s because you feel guilty, or just love CrossFit SO much that you can’t stand being away from your gym. But the time has come to rethink the rest day and start spending some serious time on recovery. We also talk about all the organ meat that Claire recently purchased, and it makes Joy pretty nervous. From vegan to bison heart in one month… Can it be done?

Girls Gone RX and The Benchmark Brawl are finally behind us! In this episode, Claire and Joy talk about their experiences with these two competitions, the differences between competing in a team vs. as an individual, and Joy reveals her latest girl crush. Things also get a bit philosophical, but y’know, sometimes that happens when you drink wine while you podcast.
OMG! Juli from PaleOMG is here! And she fits right in with our crazy shenanigans. In this episode, Juli chats with us about training for Regionals, how to eat Paleo on a first date, her top 3 favorite Paleo recipes, and what one ridiculous kitchen item Claire should definitely add to her wedding registry. We also talk about spandex. Because obviously.
Lucky episode #13! Claire and Joy give some tips for turning yourself into a morning person (or at least zombie-ing it out the door to the 5:30am WOD). Also, Joy is wearing gigantic pink furry boots, Claire just got a zoodler, and we also have two competitions coming up in the next two weekends. What the heck are we thinking.
How do you balance CrossFit with other sports or athletic goals? Claire is mostly just a CrossFitter but Joy has been known to train for marathons and keep up with yoga while still PR’ing in the box, and shares her tips on finding a balance. Also, in this episode you will learn which one of us goes commando when we WOD, although I bet you can already guess who it is.

Claire almost never misses a chance to WOD with Brandon, but Joy’s husband Scott doesn’t CrossFit at all. Do you WOD with your significant other? Or is the box your personal space where you can finally get some time to yourself? Also, Joy has a big announcement. A big, cheesy announcement.
Joy’s first competition is in the books, and she didn’t even have a panic attack (although it was a near miss). She did, however, PR her deadlift by 60 pounds. I mean really. In this episode we also chat about our plans to make some BHAGs happen, and some not-so-BHAGs, like trying to figure out what pink costumes we are going to wear for our next competition.
