We see them staring us in the face, and they could make everyone think the future is full of gloom and doom. Sure, statistics expect that one in three girls in the U.S. will become pregnant at least once before age 20, and nearly 20,000 young girls in North Carolina between ages 10 to 19 may become pregnant next year. But we’re Borrowed Pieces, and we’re not statistics!” In an effort to give teens an opportunity to make their voices heard and be part of the solution making process instead of part of the problem, Borrowed Pieces Inc. is hosting the "I AM TEEN" conference and plans to carry its message across the state of North Carolina. The Kid-too-Kid Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 organization that was founded by William Taylor-Reddick when he was 10 years old . He is now 11 years old and helping to lead an organization that provides tutoring support, art and school supplies to under-served children locally, nationally, and internationally. The Kid-too-Kid Foundation believes that it takes 'Kids' to make a difference and William's dream is to see kids help one another. To date, the organization has Kid-too-Kid Ambassadors between the ages of 11-15 years old whose duties include event planning , coordination as well as volunteering to tutor other children in reading, writing, and math.

Streaming the Health Care Reform Summit.

This morning we are speaking to Atty. Alan Phillips about the Pandemic Response Project (PReP) which is a volunteer organization he founded. According to the website, "PReP's primary goal is to reform emergency health laws to allow citizens to say "NO!" to these and other potentially mandatory emergency procedures and protocols."

Our guest today is Carl Mann Johnson the founder and CEO of the ANC Umbrella Foundation. The ANC Umbrella Foundation, a youth organization, is targeting youth ages 13-24 within the urban areas which are affected by violence and the HIV/AIDS virus. A-N-C Umbrella Foundation wants youth to understand the importance of their involvement, making them aware that this initiative starts with them, their families and community. We will be speaking to Mr. Johnson about his organizations youth outreach programs.
