The Borrowed Pieces "I AM TEEN" conference to be held in North Carolina

Black Talk Radio News show

Summary: Borrowed Pieces Inc. is a youth organization that says it “pushes our youth to be more than what’s expected of them — more than just a statistic. We get it; statistics don’t lie. We see them staring us in the face, and they could make everyone think the future is full of gloom and doom. Sure, statistics expect that one in three girls in the U.S. will become pregnant at least once before age 20, and nearly 20,000 young girls in North Carolina between ages 10 to 19 may become pregnant next year. But we’re Borrowed Pieces, and we’re not statistics!” In an effort to give teens an opportunity to make their voices heard and be part of the solution making process instead of part of the problem, Borrowed Pieces Inc. is hosting the "I AM TEEN" conference and plans to carry its message across the state of North Carolina. NC Rep. Jean Butterfield speaks to a group of young ladies for Borrowed Pieces. Borrowed Pieces Inc is led by its President and Executive Director Shera Everette and is based out of the historic city of Wilson in Wilson County, North Carolina. She joins us today on Black Teen Empowerment Radio to discuss Borrowed Pieces Inc, its mission and the upcoming "I AM TEEN" conference in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
