DC 84 – The Eternal Weekend, States Scars Standard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:44

It’s cold and wet in London, but that’s nothing that a radiator and a microphone can’t help! Show 84 is now online! This week’s show starts with a look at the Eternal Weekend, a three-day Eternal formats event held last weekend in Madrid, Spain. This was a huge event, and a really big deal for European Eternal players. After that is a look at some Standard decks that grabbed first place at various States tournaments last weekend. States 2010 was also a big deal, this time for North American Standard players. As always, your comments and suggestions are appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com, and why not hit the DC Forums, too? DC is also on the glittery social tubes known as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. A little later than planned, show 83 is ready to land on hard drives everywhere! This show is all about Legacy. First up is a recap of the DC Magic Workstation League gameday 2, in which 7 brave players pitted their decks in furious online combat, or something along those lines. After that is a retelling of the Richmond Legacy League Season 2 Week 10, in which another 7 brave players put cardboard on pub table in offline MTG combat. Your feedback is, as usual, much appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com, and why not swing by the DC Forums, too? You’ll also find DC on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.  DC 82 – Scars Pre-release, Farewell to Alara | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:20

Hello from a wet London! The rainclouds have descended upon South-East England this week, but that’s not going to stop show 82 from hitting the interwebs! This week starts with a recap of last weekend’s Scars of Mirrodin pre-release in Richmond, London/Surrey. I go over what happened, what I played and also mention a special guest who was at the pub. After that is a look at my top 11 cards from Shards block. The block rotates out of Standard today, so I do the traditional look at cards that I found fun and impressed me from the block. As always, your feedback is much appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com, and don’t forget to hit the DC Forums if you’d like a nice environment to post all your crazy new Standard brews in!  DC 81 – Poison: The Gathering Storm | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:57

It’s Friday, it’s the day before Scars of Mirrodin is unleashed upon the world, and it’s also time to unleash show 81! This week, the show is about poison, or rather the poison archetype. Scars has infected Magic with a lot of new cards that love to deal poison damage, so I’ve decided to look at how a Standard poison deck might come together. To kick things off, I talk about the good and bad of playing with poison, including some things to think about if you build with poison in mind. After that is a look at a couple of colour combinations, as well as a skeleton poison build that could be the start of a beautiful relationship with the Phyrexian oil. As always, your comments, suggestions and gourmet chocolate suggestions are very welcome at show@deckconstruct.com. Also, don’t forget to check out the DC forums for a nice cup of tea and a chat about Magic. You’ll also find DC on the social aethersphere at Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.  DC 80 – Scars Standard Predictions, Scars Duals | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:19

Friday rolls around once again, and so does another DC episode, namely number 80! Only twenty to go until that big one-double-zero! This week, I step into the future and give some predictions of what kinds of cards and decks will show up once Scars of Mirrodin rotates into Standard on October 1st. After that, I quickly share a few words on the Scars dual lands, one of which was freshly revealed today. As always, your comments, suggestions and cookie opinions are more than welcome at show@deckconstruct.com, and don’t forget to swing by the DC Forums to talk Magic there.  DC 79 – DC MWS League Week 1, Pro Tour Amsterdam, Scar Issues | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:44

From the land of medication, welcome to show 79! Apologies for the late show, but I would’ve been incomprehensible on Friday. This week kicks off with a look at the recent kickoff of the DC Magic Workstation League. I talk about who I faced, as well as the overall vibe of the night. After that is a recap of Pro Tour Amsterdam, which featured a champion who clearly knows how to write a tournament report! Finally, I talk about some Scars of Mirrodin cards that have kicked up a fuss lately. As always, you can grab me at show@deckconstruct.com, or why not kick back at the DC Forums?  DC 78 – Catchup, Scars from Zendikar, The Latest From Mirrodin | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:00

It’s September, the first Friday in fact, and DeckConstruct is back with show 78, the first of series 7! It’s good to be back! This week’s show kicks off with the usual catchup of everything that happened since the last series ended in July. GP Columbus, the 2010 Nationals and a cool new podcast all get a look in. Next is a look at some cards that I think might do well once Scars Standard kicks in. Finally, I talk about some Scars spoilers that happened over the summer.  DC 77 – Metagaming, The Competitive Rogue, Early Scars | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:24

Show 77 is ready to roll, and it’s the last show of series 6. To kick off, I look at the art of metagaming. I explain what a metagame is, and provide some tips on how to metagame successfully. After that is a look at playing a rogue deck competitively. It takes more than just having a good idea or relying on the surprise factor! Finally, I take a look at some Scars of Mirrodin information that has been leaking out of the San Diego Comic Con taking place this weekend. As always your feedback is muchly appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com, and don’t forget to check out the DC forums, too! You’ll also find DC on the social side of the internet as always at Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.  DC 76 – Making An MTG Podcast | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:36

Show 76 is now online! But hang on, it’s Wednesday, not Friday. Why has the show come out today? Well, when my computer’s power supply blew up a couple of months ago, there weren’t any shows for two weeks, so I thought it’d be nice to do two shows this week and catch up a bit. This show is about podcasting, and how to put together your own MTG podcast. This is another of those subjects that I’ve wanted to cover for ages, but never got round to doing until now. To kick off, I talk about things to consider before you say the first word of your first show, things to plan which will make recording your show a bit easier later on. After that is a discussion of hardware and software. I go over things like microphones, mixers, audio editors and sequencers. Finally, I mention some tips that will hopefully improve your podcast, should you wish to do one (or if you do one already!). As always, your feedback, suggestions and general email is very welcome at show@deckconstruct.com. Alternatively, why not head into the DC forums, or leave a comment to this post? You’ll also find DC as usual on the social airstream that is Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. Thanks for listening! - DC Rush Links To be added. Stay tuned! Music Credits Intro: The Go!  DC 75 – M11 Prerelease, Death Magic, Emblems | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:28

It’s Friday once more, and it’s time to launch show 75 into the internetosphere. This week is quite a short show, but it’s short in three parts. First up is a recap of last weekend’s M11 prerelease in Richmond, London. I go over some of the cards in my sealed pool as well as the deck I eventually played. Next is an explanation of Death Magic. It’s not as morbid as it sounds, and will be a nice change of pace from regular Magic. Finally, I explain the new emblem rule that comes into force as of today. As always your feedback, questions and suggestions are always welcome at show@deckconstruct.com, and don’t forget to check out the DC forums, too!  DC 74 – Disrupting The Meta | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:16

It’s still nice and warm in London, the M11 pre-release is tomorrow, and so it’s a great time to release show 74 onto the cables of the internet! This week’s show is about how a deck can disrupt a metagame, using Red Deck Wins as the example in the current Standard. RDW has punched a hole in Standard, and so I look at why that is and how this could apply to any given meta. You comments, suggestions and thoughts on how best to freeze an ice lolly (liquid nitrogen seems quite good) are muchly appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com. Also, check out the DC forums, which have just recieved a bit of a re-shuffle. You’ll also find DC on Le Web 2.0 at Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.  DC 73 – A Bit of M11, RLL Season 2 Week 7 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:24

The warm weather continues in London town, and it’s time to send show 73 up to the worldwide internet! This week’s show starts with a look at some M11 cards that have been spoiled so far, including the card that I think is the most underrated (so far). I offer some observations for each card, and also talk about a sneaky reprint cycle of sorts that seems to be happening across the core sets! After that is a quick recap of week 7 of season 2 of the Richmond Legacy League. As always, your comments, suggestions and thoughts on how to make the England football team better are welcome at show@deckconstruct.com.  DC 71 – The New Extended and the Rise of Double Standard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:15

The sun’s out, Wimbledon starts today and it looks like this week will, overall, be quite awesome. So, let’s go ahead and release show 71! It’s a bit late, but that’s because I wanted to think about the subject of the show over the weekend. This week’s (or, rather last week’s) show is about the Extended changes that Wizards announced last Friday, June 18th 2010. The changes will affect the format pretty dramatically, and in the first half of the show I explain the changes and what I think of them. In the second half, I talk about what the changes might mean for the Extended metagame.  DC 70 – Super Extended, RLL Season 2 Week 6 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 30:21

It’s Friday and the World Cup starts today, which is awesome. What’s also awesome is that DC has reached show number 70, which is now online! In this week’s show, I talk about the recent Super Extended (aka Overextended or Extended Plus) tournament that took place in Richmond, London. I explain the format and the deck I played, and talk a bit about the meta as well. After that is a quick look at week 6 of season 2 of the Richmond Legacy League.
