 DC 39 – Zendikar, Planechase Experiences | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:21

It’s Friday, and Show 39 is now online! This week’s show is a tale of two subjects. First up is a look at some Zendikar cards that have caught my eye recently, none of which are Mythic Rares and some which might be future classics. This is the first part of a three-week look at the new set. After that I talk about Planechase again, but this time from the perspective of having actually played it both last weekend and at the TWAU release event. As always, your feedback is much appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com. You can also find DC on the Twitter, the YouTube, the Vimeo and the Facebook. Connect everywhere! (Sounds like an EA slogan).  DC 38 – Planechase, Knight of the Reliquary, Tooth and Nail Revisited | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:29

DC show 38 is now online for your aural consumption! This week, I talk about the latest in multiplayer mayhem, Planechase, which releases today. Following that is a look at a Conflux card that I feel has been much maligned since its release. To round things off I talk about an Extended deck that hasn’t seen much play for a while, but might be ready for the spotlight once more. As always you can grab DeckConstruct at the usual social networking suspects known as Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo and YouTube. You can also get the direct line to the show at show@deckconstruct.com, or use the contact form on the website.  DC 37 – Roundup, Magic 2010, Duels of the Planeswalkers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:07

Show 37, the first show of series 4, is now online! The episode kicks off with a quick look at everything (well, a lot of things) that’s happened in the world of Magic since DC was last on the netwaves. I then go into the subject of Magic 2010 (yes, I do talk about damage on the stack!), and finish with Duels of the Planeswalkers, Magic’s debut on the Xbox 360. The DC Social Networking Empire is still around should you want to connect with DC in that way. Also, the old feedback address is back at show@deckconstruct.com, and your feedback would be muchly appreciated!  DC 36 – The Colours of Shards, Wizards Play Network | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:34

It’s Friday and show 36, the last show of series 3, is now online. It’s also the last show for a long, long time (probably). This is because, as we explain in the show, Dan is going back to Malaysia and so we won’t be able to get together to do the show anymore. We do explain what will happen with the site after today, though (it’s not going anywhere!). Also in this week’s show, we talk about the colours of Shards of Alara and how they’ve been given names and put into “colour tribes” of sorts. Finally, we talk about the Wizards Play Network (WPN) and how you can use it to get a playgroup started if there isn’t one in your area. Our email is show@deckconstruct.com if you want to get in touch, and our forums are around as well. They’re like an oasis of calm in the hectic world of the Magic Internet. The Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo channels are also kicking around if you feel like getting your Web 2.0/social networking/other internet buzzword on. As always, thanks for listening and thanks if you’ve subscribed, or spread the word about the show; it’s these “silent” activities that matter for a podcast. It might be a good idea to stay subscribed if you already are because we have a few audio-based things planned. Obviously it won’t be the podcast itself, but things like the Sketches series and, who knows, maybe even Dan’s “Call from Malaysia” thing that he mentions in this week’s show. So, with that, we bow out of the podcast world for a while. But, to quote Winston Churchill: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”. - DC Sunset Team Music Credits Intro: Mick Chillage – Altitude Colours of Alara: Superbus – Han Solo Starting a playgroup: Brioskj – Ghibli The future of DeckConstruct: Abyssal Plains – Jhana Outro: Das Kraftfuttermischwerk – Shadows on Wooden Beaches Thank you to the artists for the music, and for making it available via Creative Commons.  DC 35 – M-Fest 2008, WotC Restructuring, 2009 PT Schedule | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:42

It’s been a while, but we’re back! Show 35 was recorded today and is now up for downloading! It’s another long show for us at almost 40 minutes, but then anything over 30 minutes feels long by our reckoning. It’s sort of like southerners thinking that anywhere north of Watford is “up north”. This week we talk about M-Fest which happened last weekend. We were both there and had a mixed experience at the event. We also talk about the recently announced restructuring at Wizards of the Coast, the 2009 Pro Tour schedule which was revealed today, and the next preview card from Shards of Alara. As mentioned in the show, there will be a WPN-sanctioned Legacy tournament happening next Wednesday, August 27th, in Richmond, South-West London (or Surrey, depending on who you ask) at the Old Ship pub. The tournament entry fee will be only £1 and it kicks off at 7pm, so come down if you can and play some Legacy! It’s a crazy format and lots of fun. As always if you want to get in touch you can reach us on show@deckconstruct.com. The forums are also open as usual and our Web 2.0 empire is also still ticking along nicely across Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo.  DC 34 – Floating Mana: Exploring Combo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:42

It’s a beautiful day in London, and it’s time for DC show 34 to hit the net, which this week weighs a chunky 50 minutes. This week we continue our Archetypes of Magic series with a look at combo. Firstly we try to define what combo actually is and talk about it for a bit, then we dive straight into Magic’s combo past with a look at some significant combo decks from days gone by. As promised, we’ve also shot an accompanying video, Clash of the Combos, for this show which will be available on Monday, July 28. As mentioned in the show, we’ll be away until August 22nd when we’ll return with an M-Fest special. This is because I’m flying off to sunnier climes for a few weeks, and Dan is going to be busy with summer stuff, too. As always we’d love to hear what you think about the show at show@deckconstruct.com. We’re also around on Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and Twitter.  DC 33 – Eventide Pre-release, Post-Eventide Standard, Quillspike Combo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:09

Woo yay it’s Friday and time for show 33 to hit the netwaves. In this week’s show we talk about the Eventide pre-release in Richmond that we both went to, hosted as always by They Walk Among Us. We also talk about Standard post-Eventide, with a look at some cards from the set and also a brand new combo-based deck whose combo is made up of common and uncommon cards! As always we really like receiving feedback, which can be sent to show@deckconstruct.com. We’re also on YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo and now Twitter as well. Our tweets will be about pretty much anything Magic-related (and some things that aren’t), including show updates.  DC 32 – More Eventide | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:00

It’s raining in London (fifteen miles east) and it’s time for show 32 to play. In this show, we talk about more Eventide cards to look out for at the pre-release this weekend, including some fun stuff, some cards we think will be tourney staples and also a spicy combo at common rarity. First we talk about non-hybrid cards, then we go into hybrid cards. As always, we’d love to hear from you at show@deckconstruct.com, and our slow, steady domination of the Web 2.0 world (or something) continues via Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo.  DC 31 – Eventide Preview, GP Buenos Aires | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:37

Show 31 is a bit late this week due to technical difficulties of a hosting nature, and we apologise for that. However, it’s all been sorted now. We’ve kept the date as July 4 for continuity purposes (and because it just looks better in a strange sort of way). This week’s show is partly about the future (as seen from the present) as we look at Eventide. We talk about cards that could be future constructed staples, as well as cards that might not be, but caught our eye all the same. The Eventide segments are full of spoilers, so if you’re not partial to a few spoiled cards you might want to “look away now”. We also talk about GP Buenos Aires which was a Standard GP that took place last weekend. It was a Summer Series GP, which meant extra pro points to the victor. Your feedback is greatly appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com, and you can find us at Facebook, Vimeo and YouTube as well.  DC 30 – Wizards Play Network, Legacy Tournament, Imperial Painter | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:41

Live from… OK, timeshifted from a rainy London, we present DC show 30! It’s another small milestone for the show. This week, we talk about the Wizards Play Network, and what it means for people like us who actually want to run events through it. We also talk about last weekend’s Legacy tournament in Central London, and about a Legacy deck that caught our eye recently, although it does run a very expensive card. As always, your feedback is much appreciated at show@deckconstruct.com, and we have our usual presences at YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook.  DC 29 – Alternative Block Constructed Decks, Tournament Ethics | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:24

It’s Friday, it’s slightly overcast in London and it’s time for show 29 to hit the webs. This week we talk about alternative Block Constructed decks that you might want to consider. We also talk about the ethics of tournament play, including where they relate to judges. As always we’re on the other end of an email at show@deckconstruct.com, or you can hit the forums. We’re also on Deckconstruct.com/facebook, /youtube and /vimeo as well. It’s Friday the 13th, but that won’t stop us from bringing you show 28! This week, we talk about playtesting. We go through what a gauntlet is and what a current Standard one would look like. We also talk about dos and and don’ts of playtesting, and recount some of our own experiences. As always, you can reach out and touch us in an email sense at show@deckconstruct.com, or hit up our Web 2.0 places at Facebook, YouTube or Vimeo.  DC 27 – PT Hollywood, GP Birmingham, Shards of Alara Changes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:47

We’re back! Series 3 kicks off today with show 27. It’s our longest yet at 50 minutes, but that’s because we had a lot to talk about this week. In this week’s show, we catch up with Pro-Tour Hollywood and GP Birmingham, and what the Standard and Block metagames respectively look like after those events. We also discuss the changes announced last Monday which will kick in when Shards of Alara comes out. In addition to all that, we also talk about the raid on the Vintage format that the DCI announced last Monday, when some very notable blue cards were placed on the latest restricted list. As always, we love hearing from you. Aim and fire an email at show@deckconstruct.com, or head over to our forums and join the community that’s slowly brewing there.  DC 26 – Shadowmoor Pre-release | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:24

Show 26, the last show of series 2, is now online! Yes, we’re taking a break, and will be back in June with DC series 3. This week, we talk about the Shadowmoor pre-release that we went to last weekend in Richmond. We also discuss cards from the set that we think are limited bombs, and give our opinions on constructed-worthy cards as well. In addition to all that, we also give you a rundown of UK-based MTG events coming up soon as, after all, we’re UK-based ourselves. As always, we appreciate reading your thoughts via show@deckconstruct.com. Also, don’t forget to check out our forums if you haven’t already done so. Even though we’ll be off-air during May, we’ll still be in the forums discussing all things Magic and non-Magic.  DC 25 – Extended PTQ, Shadowmoor Preview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:42

We’re up to a quarter-century! Show 25 is now online and ready for general transmission over the World Wide Internet. This week we talk about the Extended PTQ in London last Saturday. We also discuss some cards that you might want to look out for at the Shadowmoor pre-release this weekend. Finally, at the end of the show, Dan has a small request for our listeners and anyone who might be able to trade or sell to him foil Dredge-related cards.
