Episode-2622- What to Do About CoVid-19 Right Now | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:19

Today’s show has no typical intro segments, I am designing it to allow you to help those who are mostly or totally unprepared for this.  As I have said a lot lately, if you follow our basic guidelines is 30-60 days of minimum preparedness for food, essentials and finances you should be in really good shape right now. Yet not everyone is prepared, in fact clearly they are not and in some areas it is worse than others.  Today’s show is really for those who are totally freaked out, designed to say, you can do these things and take control, but I think it will help everyone get things into perspective.  Please share this one folks, I think it can help a lot of people. Special Note – For those new to the show the bullet points below are my talking points only, I generally present with less notes but don’t want to leave anything out here.  I ask you to resist the urge to just scan the notes and think, yea I know that.  If someone shared this with you please take the time to listen to the audio, it can really help you get though the next few weeks and it may in fact save lives. Join Me Today as We Discuss… Five Basics to Keep in Mind at all Times The social distancing advice is right, it sucks but it is right. Sanitation is critical when you go out act like a solider, don’t touch your face. However be a “grey man” don’t start shit, stay away from people Go out early, don’t shop around the 1st, 15th or any time money is being sent out Despite the hysteria most cases are mild to moderate and self resolve, you still don’t want to add to the problem   What do do at home right now… Set up a schedule and keep to it, not strict but keep it Inventory your food and supplies, know what you have before buying what you don’t need Calculate how long you can go with what you have, so you can make smart supply run decisions Do not watch wall to wall CoVid TV Schedule “movie” or fun TV time Schedule family/friend contact times, facetime, etc. Create “work” for kids, use “me too” leverage Have outside time, sorry stay away from friends and neighbors though Create fun projects, if you are not working do them with your kids Enjoy each other, make the best of things Teach kids about the right amount of TP and happy birthday hand washing If you have the space designate everyone as “private area” then can go to and have respected   More Specific to Kids…. Schedule, structure and command make them feel like you have control, they need that Be honest that things are serious, but keep them upbeat, “we are going to be okay” Really minimize “CoVid TV” around them Yes it is effort to teach them a task, but once they can do it, you don’t have to Trust me a lot of stuff they say they don’t want to do, they will enjoy if you make them do it   Things I noticed on a supply run…. Hit stores early, during the week, bad weather is kind of good in this case Stay the hell away from high population area stores if you can Many people are buying the “easy” food, buy whole foods, whole cuts, etc. This multiple meals with one item, whole chickens, large meat cuts, etc. Think waste elimination, buy things you can use fresh but easily store as well If you can get high volume easy button foods by all means do it Consider intel gathering whenever you go out, notice parking lots and times of day, days of week Don’t post your intel good or bad on social media, it isn’t everyone for themselves but one post can really ruin things Some other things to think about buying, potatoes, veg that freezes well, surprisingly junk foods, canned meat if you are limited on freezer space. If you can order curb side pick up, get it delivered, etc. do that, keep minimum contact with delivery people. If there is any way possible leave kids at home when shopping   Food Mana[...]

Episode-2621- Nicole Sauce on Side Hustles during the Crisis | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:35:22

The word of the week in fact the word or the month is solutions and so that is what we are discussing today with Expert Council member Nicole Sauce.  While many right now are out of work and hoping this ends before that becomes permanent, some are thriving in the side hustle and gig economy. We have taught lifestyle design from almost day one on TSP.  While basic prepping is pretty strait forward, I mean we can sum it up this simplistically… At a minimum build up sufficient supplies and finances to be able to go 30-60 days without systems of support and you will be able to get thought 98% of what might go wrong. Truly building a life where you can thrive during even a global crisis requires a lot more.  Building a stable income that can create reserves in good time and carry you though bad times, really lets you live the better life, if times get tough, or even if they don’t.  Nicole and I discuss that concept in depth today. We also start out with some incredibly good news about CoVid-19 with a new treatment coming very fast, in fact for anyone not already to a very critical state it is essentially a cure.  While much of even the MSM is privy to this now, I have some information that make this news even better.  We are not done with this problem yet, and it will go on for a while but what just happened will shorten it by a massive margin. So get your side hustle going now, or at least plan it out and get read to hit it hard, the future is actually pretty bight right now, you just have to look ahead instead of at the ground.  Episode-2620- James White on Hydroponics for Small Space Growing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:55

We start out with some very important information about CoVid-19 today and then discuss small scale hydroponics with our guest James White. James White is an Electrical Engineer but has worked primarily in Technical Sales, a.k.a. Sales Engineering most of his adult life; primarily for Silicon Valley tech startups. James caught or possibly inherited the gardening bug early from his Mother and Grandmother the first few years of his life in Okinawa. As a Navy Brat he moved around a lot, but always found a way to grow something, one way or another. Now living in suburban So Cal on a little less than a 1/10th acre, James is trying to “hack” as much gardening space and production as possible in a limited space. Several years ago he tried hydroponics as an experiment and was impressed with the results.  He has been a great help to my hydroponics work this year and I wanted to bring him on to discuss the subject.  Episode-2619- John Pugliano on the Current and Future Economics of CoVid-19 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:28:46

I asked expert council member John Pugliano to join me today to discuss the effects of the CoVid-19 outbreak on our economy. The reality is nothing in modern history really compares to what we are now experiencing. The market is down massively and businesses are closed others are open only part time, many that are open are doing very little business. All of this has both good and bad aspects to it. The bad is pretty obvious, fear is driving hording of consumables while durable goods sit idle and services go unused. The good is harder to see right now. One good thing is the economy is actually fundamentally sound. Another is the government is dead set on filling in the financial holes. That does not mean sunshine, roses and kittens but it does mean we are looking at a cycle not the end of life as we know it. Join John and I today for a frank, honest and yet hopeful discussion about this topic.  Episode-2618- Doc Bones on the CoVid-19 Pandemic | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:23:20

I decided to bring on Doc Bones from the expert panel to discuss the CoVid-19 situation from a pragmatic real world stand point.  Doc is taking this seriously and has good advice but his central message can be broken down into two parts. Part One – Flatten the curve, follow the general advice, wash hands, social distance, etc. Part Two – Don’t panic, this too shall pass.  It won’t last forever, don’t act like it will. We cover a lot more than that and I finish with my 12 points of advice on the current situation.  In the end if you are a typical prepper who can go 30-60 days without needing typical “systems of support” you a lot of control in staying out of the problem and more importantly not making it worse.  Episode-130- TSP Rewind – Defining the Machine with Patrick Barron | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:24

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1088- Patrick Barron from DefiningTheMachine.com and was originally published on March 13th, 2013. The following are the original show notes from that episode.. The Machine is Why Nothing Changes Pat Barron is a former Independent candidate for congress in 2010,with over 25 years of experience working within both public and private mental health settings. Currently, Pat works for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. Pat’s experience as a trained clinician, has helped to not only treat the symptoms of a problem, but to identify/understand the complex causes of the problem, and then find the straightest path to both stability and success. In the 2010 congressional election Pat Barron was an Independent candidate in the 3rd district against incumbent James McGovern and Republican Marty Lamb. Pat ran as a true outsider to Washington D.C. and political partisanship. Pat believes reform in Washington DC is the only solution to all our issues ranging from healthcare to infrastructure, to national defense. The current climate of partisanship, gridlock, national debt and congressional approval ratings in the teens substantiate this belief. Since the last election Pat Barron has been hard at work researching and developing a seminar he is now offering called “Defining the Machine” Join Pat and I Today as We Discuss… Partisanship and political gridlock, why it occurs and how this influences policy and fund-raising The history of congressional committee term limits and does this help The Bipartisan Congressional Reform Act of 2002 The RNC, DNC, what and where is K Street and why this matters The difference between PACs, leadership PACs, and Super PACs Control by the political parties through the Party Dues System.  Episode-129- TSP Rewind – Developing the Skill of Teaching | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:29:50

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1423- Developing the Skill of Teaching and was originally published on Sept.10th, 2014. While today is a rewind episode the first 20 minutes is all brand new content and is about you guessed it CoVid-19 specifically the next 30-60 days.  Additionally there are two songs of the day as I am keeping my promise to make this CCR week and the song from the old episode is so tied into the subject it was not practical to remove it. The following are the original show notes from that episode.. Geoff Lawton is one of my Greatest Teachers I put out a simple post on the TSP Facebook page yesterday, it simply said, “Hey TSP Nation, what do you want tomorrow’s show to be about“? I was kind of blown away but how fast so many great ideas came in. Frankly I think I am going to busy for months now. Some of the requests are great but I need more than one day to put them together. There was one though that I realized I have never done, simply how to become a teacher. Now not a school teacher, or even say a bush craft teacher but just a teacher in general. What makes a great teacher? What makes a student want to learn? I will try to explain what I think about that today. I will also explain my philosophy on teaching and why everyone should be both student and teacher. Teaching is a skill, that is great, it means teachers are not borne they are made. It is true that some people have natural talents and that makes them better teachers but we can all develop the skill to be a good teacher. Teaching isn’t hard, it is learning something and helping someone else do what you already did. We have been lied to here like in many other places, teachers are not heroes with magical powers granted to them by the state and university, they are just people, nothing more. Again some individuals may be very talented story tellers, speakers, etc. Said people will be great teachers but you should never see that is why you can’t teach. What if you did that with running? I can run, hell I can run very well. I am sure a being without human legs would be quite impressed by my coordination and speed. Yet by our standards I am slow, very slow, does this mean I should never run? Does this mean I can’t run? Does this mean I could not become a better runner? Teaching is the same. Join Me Today As We Discuss… What do teachers mean when they say they want parents “involved in education” Why you have to let go of the “academic teacher view” to be a great teacher The formula to become a great teacher Develop passion for things that are important to you Develop knowledge and experience about those things Show and tell others about them Repeat The formula to develop skills as a teacher Learn to tell stories Learn to use analogies Learn to see connections and patterns Why teaching is so beneficial to the teacher How this concept can change the world for the better   Resources for Today’s Show Members Support Brigade TSP Gear Shop Join Our Forum My Article on CoVid-19 compared to the Flu Episode 402 On the Threat of Pandemic Green River – CCR   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2616- The Lessons America Should be Learning from CoVid-2019 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:25:16

Today we are not really going to talk about CoVid-2019 directly but more what it has exposed as weaknesses in the United States, what we should learn from it, why we likely will not and what that means you should do.  Hint on the last one, what you should do is mostly what I have said you should be doing for about 12 years now. The truth about CoVid-2019 is that it is not nothing but it is nothing like what it is being made out to be.  It is a respiratory virus and every year we have many such viruses that people get and are never even named.  CoVid-2019 is already showing signs of obeying Farr’s Law and going into decline across the entire northern hemisphere. Farr’s law was first formulated in 1840 by William Farr, one of the founders of modern epidemiology.  It has since been ignored in every epidemic hysteria since, the law states that epidemics tend to rise and fall in a roughly symmetrical pattern or bell-shaped curve. AIDS, SARS, Ebola — they all followed that pattern. So does seasonal flu each year. Like I said though this isn’t really about CoVid-2019 but rather the weaknesses it exposes.  What concerns me most about the current situation is what a truly serious, high mortality pandemic would look like.  Again this does not mean CoVid-2019 is a “nothing burger” rather that is is not as dangerous as claimed, so what is going to happen when something more dangerous then this is claimed to be, inevitability happens? Lessons and Corrective Action from CoVid-2019 Quote of the Day – “Emergencies’ have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded”.  ~ F.A. Hayek The government is mostly unprepared for a disaster, how we could change that but why we won’t The American people are completely unprepared for a disaster, why that won’t change but why you should American corporations are mostly unprepared for a disaster why they may very well change that Yes the media is hyping this because they hate Trump and because they hype everything anyway Why I predict the current crisis will be relatively short and why that is bad in some ways Some opportunities that are coming from this Continuity of operations planning for corporations For every loser there is something on sale at a discount The very nature of this crisis means we know it will end Some real concerns I have of this crisis not going to waste I don’t think you will see a CoVid Vaccine rather a CoVid-Flu vaccine More gas on the fire for the war on cash More validation for government to have more “emergency power” The temptation to establish a “new normal” just like after 911 The cry wolf response if we have something worse in the future The loss of many small businesses during even a relatively short disruption A perfect set up for a take over of socialism in the US Final Thoughts   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum TspAz.com Fortunate Son – CCR   Sponsors of the Day Safecastle Royal The Berkey Guy   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2615- Hydroponics for Preppers and a Quick Corona Virus Update | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:23:46

Bit of a two fer today, going to spend about 10 minutes on Corona Virus an the financial hysteria going on right now and the amazing economic opportunity it is about to open up.  Yes I said opportunity!  It will get worse before it gets better and I think I may do a “what America should learn from CoVid-2019” show tomorrow so I will keep this all pretty brief. Today the bulk of our discussion will be about hydroponics.  We will discuss several different forms of hydroponics, why pumps often do make sense, nutrient choices, best crops to grow and more.  We are coming at this from a stand point of how well hydro fits the prepper mindset though, rather than just hydro for the sake of hydro. Join Me Today to Discuss… The simple but missed meaning of the word hydroponics The big advantages The honest disadvantages Sources of anti hydro stigma Ignorance Lies Crappy Plant Varieties Overselling of bullshit by zealots Why we should consider growing indoors especially as preppers The disadvantages of growing indoors and how most don’t apply to home producers The four most common techniques and what you should know about them Kratky NFT Ebb and Flow Deep Water Recirculating Why I now recommend most people start with Masterblend Fertilizer Plants you can grow to full harvest in 25-35 days Lettuce Basil Argula (stupid easy and fast) Spinach Kale/Yad Fah/Etc Bok Choi Sorrel Shiso Chicory/Dandelion Swiss Chard Yes you can grow anything but fast turn is best for indoors As a seed starting system nothing else I have tried even comes close Nothing I know of beats hydro for speed, quality, reliability and yes flavor A confession – I am embarrassed it took me this long to become a convert   Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Biltong for Breakfast Playlist for My Vertical Farm Playlist for My Hydro Seed Starting Stuff Masterblend Fertilizer Write Up All My Hydroponics Products I have Reviewed Have You Ever Seen the Rain – Song Facts Have You Ever Seen the Rain – CCR   Sponsors of the Day Butcher Box Backwoods Home   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2613- Why Homesteading is one of the best “Preps” you can Make | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:09:15

We have talked a lot about homesteading over the years, in fact one of my biggest early hit shows was called “From Home to Homestead” first published all the way back in July of 2008.  To make the point of how long I have been teaching this concept, that was episode 20 of this podcast and today we are doing episode 2613. I have taught this approach from two primary angles.  The first being the economic ROI by converting homes which for most Americans are consumers into producers.  The other angle has been the health and well being aspect.  I firmly feel humans are natural hunters, gathers, horticulturists and predisposed to animal husbandry.  While I have been accused of forcing that view on reality, 10s of thousands of years of human history seem to back up my claim. I have always said homestead was natural if you wanted to be a prepper, but I never really focused on it much.  My view is if something creates preparedness, just teach it for all its merits and preparedness happens naturally, the way it did prior to what I refer to as “the microwave generation”.  Episode-2612- Ariana Marshall on Income though Amazon Print on Demand Publishing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:47

Today we are joined by Ariana Marshall to hear about how she started a business with Amazon’s print on demand services. In November 2017, Ariana sold her first apparel design using the Merch by Amazon platform, and a few months later published her first “low content” book on Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. She had NO graphic design background when she started. She’s learned much from this endeavor, including basic graphic design, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, video editing, Pinterest marketing, and Amazon sales research. She is a stay at home mom with an MBA, PMP and a handful of other pieces of paper, and she says that none of those had anything to do with her ability to grow income online. Persistence and willingness to learn new things (and fail) have been the most important qualities. Ariana’s other interests are travel (mostly vicariously at this point in life), horses and doing a little more vegetable gardening every year. She’s 44 years old and lives in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Germany to a Foreign Service family, and serving in the Peace Corps as a young adult, she has lived in several countries and a number of U.S. states. Before settling into suburbia, she worked in international trade as well as once upon a time was a wrangler on a dude ranch, an independent gubernatorial candidate’s campaign manager, and a traveler on the old Silk Road. She began her online presence with a unfocused attempt at a blog. While not successful, that led to learning more about ecommerce and online business. Join us today for a great discussion on building income streams through Amazon MBA and KDP, regardless of where you live.  Episode-2611- Feeling Exposed due to CoVid-19 – Good Here is What to do About It | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:21:36

I have attempted to be a voice of calm and reason with this current situation, as I always do.  As I stated last week the main reason is this audience should be at minimum prepared at a basic level.  What I have seen in general in response to “the corona virus” is a mixture ranging from some common sense to outright hysteria. The hysteria is coming from two camps, first is the main stream media and the political left.  This idiots see it as a chance to defeat the orangeman.  Additionally the main stream media always hypes everything they can to get you to stay glued to the TV.  I have been bemused listening to them tell us how important it is to “stay informed” as they repeat the same bullshit over and over with likely 50% of all media time dedicated to the same 5 minute spiel for the past 3-4 weeks. The other group hyping the fuck out of this is my contemporaries in the world of alternative media and the preparedness industry.   They are selling mostly fear and gear as far as I am concerned. I have said from the very beginning here, it isn’t nothing but it is nothing to freak out about.  The good thing though is that many so called preppers are getting into touch with now unprepared they are, and so are many Americans.  Unlike a lot of crisis of the week this one is going to be around a while.  It will impact most of us in some way.  So the concept of preparedness may actually go into some brains and stick this time, a man can hope anyway. Today I am going to talk about prepping for CoVid-19 but guess what folks, it is really just generalized pepping for anything. Join Me Today to Discuss… Quote of the Day – “Giving people self-confidence is by far the most important thing that I can do. Because then they will act.” ~ Jack Welch First lets once again get a grasp on why the infected rate is deflated making the death rate inflated Next let’s understand why things always look worse in the beginning with a new disease Keep in mind the BULLSHIT that was being said while I was saying to calm the F down Kids seem to be almost totally unaffected, why that is good and bad at the same time It is important to identify if you are part of the population that is more at risk Elevated over 65, serious risk to 80 and older Smoker Respiratory Issues Immune Compromised High Blood Pressure or other Cardio Vascular Disease High Density Living Conditions Now lets review the concept of commonality of disaster Now some things we can specifically do here… Focus on keeping your immunity up (vitamins B6, C and E) Again Quecertin showed promise against SARs and this is far more mild, it won’t hurt for sure Stay hydrated and stay active, walk, move your fricken lungs Yes wash your hands, and here is something most people are clueless about when say shopping If you get “sick” don’t panic and don’t run to the hospital because you sneezed a few times More generalized prepping Ammo, back up power, etc. sure but that isn’t really the big concern here Food – Have a 30-60 day supply, also you should do that anyway Buy shit you don’t have but should have online while it is in stock for a few reasons cost convenience lack of zombies (freaked out disease carrying people) Things you need to specifically think about for this, again but you should do it anyway Shit your kids eat you don’t think of as preps Hygiene items Maintenance meds Protective gear but let’s have a reality check about it too Cleaning supplies, sanitizers, etc but let’s not lose our minds Remember this shit always passes, be good to neighbors during any shortages, the world is not ending The lesson here for many preppers is, you are not a prepped as you think you are and any bumb in the road exposes that   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To F[...]
