Episode-2459- Dillon Allen and when TSHTF for an Old Man & The Sea | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:19:10

Dillon grew up in Mississippi before going to DC to serve in the Navy. In DC he designed and built nuclear reactors, which he has talked about on the show before, back on episode 2253. He grew up sailing and recently made a passage from Houston to New Orleans, which is what he’s here to talk about today. He’s been listening to the show since 2010 somewhere in the neighborhood of episode 500 and has been engaging as a member of the community as Angusbangus via the blog, TSP and Facebook forums, Permaethos, 5min with Jack, Walking to Freedom, & MT Knives. He designed his own avatar that marries Calico Jack’s Jolly Roger and the rattlesnake from the Navy Jack. Some say “Don’t Tread on Me”. Dillon prefers to live by the motto “Tread if you Dare”. Maybe he shouldn’t have said that to Mother Nature. Dillon also happens to work for a company that provides grants for environmental projects, so we finish up with a segment on how to get grants and how to approach decision makers about them.  So today is really a two fer.  Episode-2458- Dropping the Denominator | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:25:20

Have you ever heard the phrase, “the lowest common denominator”.  While this is an actual mathematical principle it has also become a colloquialism meaning to cater to the lowest preforming member of a given group.  Today that group is the people of the United States and the performance metrics are basic intelligence, critical thinking and the ability to use logic and reason. In essence a better title for this show may be “lowering the common denominator” with the sub title of “the dumbing down of America”, but I simply feel dropping the denominator sounds better and requires more thought, and as you shall see, thinking is the main focus of today’s episode. Join Me Today to Discuss… Everything you need to know is in the pharmaceutical marketing formula Specific ways people have been dumbed down Taught that the method is more important than the results Everything has become a labeled illness, disorder, condition, etc and celebrated Actual mental disorders are considered “normal” The goal of modern medicine is to medicate every person from cradle to grave Food is toxic even in the wealthiest nation that have ever existed People have been convinced education credentials equal intelligence People have been taught to be proud of who they are, vs. what they accomplish The role of government has become “keeping us safe” instead of the protection of rights The concept of “settled science” has turned science into a religion Fighting the current of stupidity Verify information and examine every side of every issue Realize that 95% of what people think is important, isn’t Make your life a series of “learning projects” Challenge your children and teach them to challenge you back Develop your pattern recognition Learn to work systems to your advantage Don’t join a “tribe” political or otherwise Determine the things you most want and put 95% of your effort into getting them If you don’t want to be a little more like a person in your life, don’t spend much time with them Spirko’s Law of Life #13 – Believe as you wish but know why you believe what you believe Final Thoughts – You don’t have to play their games, so don’t   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Binance.com Biltong for Breakfast Find Your TSP Facebook Group for Your State There Must be More to Life than This – Freddy Mercury   Sponsors of the Day Ready Made Resources Free State Project   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-111- TSP Rewind – How Liberty Creates Inequality and Why that’s Good | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:23:51

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-2000- How Liberty Creates Inequality and Why that’s Good and was originally published on May 9th, 2017. The following are the original show notes from that episode… There is a fallacy out there masquerading as a universal truth, and that is that our goal in society should be equality for all. That inequality should be eliminated, period. Politically many people have many different views on how that should be done, however the average person would agree that inequality is a bad thing, and should be eliminated. The truth though is while the definition of inequality has been changed by the politically correct you can’t ignore the root of the word. It is formed from two parts, In this case the prefix “in” indicates a negative, as in the word “not”. The component equality comes from the word equal as in each part, person, etc, get the same thing. In other words inequality means “not equal”. So some get more than others, some get less. What we have done is made inequality the same as or equal to injustice, which means a lack of fairness or justice or simply “not just”. These two things are not the same thing. If you think I am splitting hairs tune in today because this is a critical thing to understand when discussing liberty with others. Join Me Today to Discuss… What is an inequity What is an injustice How liberty reduces injustice but increases inequality Why this is a great thing and we should stop trying to create equality No, everyone doesn’t even have an equal opportunity and that can’t ever happen What would a society built solely on equal justice look like   Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum TspAz.com – support TSP when you shop on Amazon Grandaddy’s Gun Club Bullhead Fishing Information Life Will Kill You – Warren Zevon   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-110- TSP Rewind – Getting Ready for Fall Gardening | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:05:59

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1835- Getting Ready for Fall Gardening and was originally published on July 26, 2016. The following are the original show notes from that episode… Today it will be over 100 in much of the nation. This is our toughest time of year in central Texas. Grass is turning brown and the other thing that really thrives are snake, lizards, grasshoppers and things that eat grasshoppers. Shade is the number one commodity if you are out side. Even as a boy in Pennsylvania my Grandfather referred to this time of year as “the dog days”. What he meant was leave any outside dog alone, they might bite as they are so miserable in the heat. So it may seem like an odd time to discuss fall gardening. Well let me put you in touch with reality. Even for me where it is so how that two Hobbits threw a ring into my back yard to destroy it yesterday the first frost date right now is only, 107 days away. If you live say in central Pennsylvania you are looking at 76 days or less. You want me to really freak you out? As of today we are only 121 days from Thanksgiving and 152 days until Christmas. In short despite the heat and long summer days, Fall is coming and coming fast, in fact we are right now only 58 days from September 22, the Fall Equinox and official beginning to fall. Join Me Today as We Discuss… Bed maintenance for beds you won’t be planting with “crops” Biochar, manure, green sand, other amendments Mulch Cover Crops Heavy Harvest of the Summer Crops New Bed Establishment Site selection Why this is a good time to establish new beds Getting ready for the fall crops Protection or not?  Episode-109- TSP Rewind – The Bright Future of Homesteading in America | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:29:36

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1171- The Bright Future of Homesteading in America and was originally published on June 2nd, 2015. The following are the original show notes from that episode… In the 70’s there was a very large back to the land movement that just didn’t last. Many are calling the current boom in gardening and small livestock keeping something similar, but that is quite short sighted. To begin with the current boom in such things really began about 2006 and was in full swing by 2008, it is now 2013 and things are moving faster then ever. That is a total of 7 years so far, the 70’s back to the land movement only lasted about half a decade before fading into oblivion. So what is different this time and why is this new multi generational group of homesteaders different and what does the future hold for us. That is today’s subject. Join Me Today As We Discuss… The 70’s movement was yet another cycle of things that occurred in the 60’s and the 30’s The 30’s were driven by survival and the 70’s by an escape mentality Both movements had some urban components but were mostly rural Today’s homesteaders are working land from 1/10th to 100 acres and more Today’s movement is driven by multiple factors Concern about the future The quality of our food The environmental damage of big agriculture The concerns about GMOs Regaining what was lost in Generations X and Y for everyone A change in the fundamental understanding of wealth An understanding of what is actually “beautiful” A desire to regain control in our lives What will sustain the modern homesteading movement The I can do this almost anywhere mentality The internet and info sharing Opposition will strengthen the movement It is being done BEFORE an economic crisis The problems of modern society are more evident then ever Automation and technology will make doing it easier The biggest reason, it is simply becoming accepted by most people Why I believe almost everyone will do at least a bit of homesteading in coming years What decentralizing even 25% of the food system would mean for society   Resources for Today’s Show… Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum TspAz.com – Support TSP When You Shop on Amazon   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-108- TSP Rewind – There is no Sovereignty without Mental Sovereignty | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:31:11

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1586- There is no Sovereignty without Mental Sovereignty and was originally published on June 2nd, 2015. The following are the original show notes from that episode… This is a super computer, if you don’t control the code, someone else does! Today we get back into The Insurgency Series with more on mental sovereignty. I define mental sovereignty as follows Mental Sovereignty – the ability to fully and wholly think for oneself by using logic, reason and all available fact to form truly independent opinions and then take useful personal action based on them. Such actions may be proactive, such as “doing something about it”. They may also be non reactive, such as “this does not qualify for my attention”. But they are never over reactive in such as “I am so angry, I am going to fume about this and get nothing done while I waste this energy”. Sadly most Americans would claim that they do think for themselves, but they do not. In truth many who are truly proud to be doing so are so caught up in the daily servings of bullshit soup, that they literally can’t think for themselves. Note my use of can’t isn’t won’t or do not have the inherent ability. For instance you can swim, but if I strap a 2 ton piece of iron to your leg and throw you in 50 feet of water, what then? The answer is cut the rope, and today that is what we will try to do. Join Me Today to Discuss… News isn’t news it is programming Every piece of information given by media is designed for three things To get ratings To create an emotional reaction To sell an agenda 90% of Media is Owned by 6 Corporations they are… GE Newscorp Disney Viacom Time Warner CBS 237 Top Executives control what most Americans see every day Conversely Congress has 535 members In summary, the news is rigged, to pseudo, “don’t trust and always verify” The keys to independent thinking Reboot often Information fast Take daily walks (control breathing when you do) Contemplate flavors, colors, something, anything Eat well, love yourself and love your family/friends Realize what really matters Understand the circles of concern and influence Don’t let others tell you what your questions and concerns are Analyzing an issue, story or concern Step One – Remove emotional and psychological baggage Step Two – Ask, does this effect me, give an honest answer Step Three – If two is a no, ask do I really care to know more, proceed with caution if so. If yes proceed with caution anyway. Step Four – Take the issue into an alternative context using substitution. Step Five – Use logic to analyze this issue based on all your past knowledge and experience, go to yourself first. Step Six – Gather information about the issue from all sides of the debate. Step Seven – Repeat step 1-6 if needed, if not skip this step. Continue this process until you decide you are ready for step eight. Step Eight – Explain your opinion to yourself, see if you really believe it. Use one of your alternate contexts when you do this. Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1797- Training Dogs to Fit in on the Homestead and was originally published on May 31st, 2016. The following are the original show notes from that episode… While I will be covering a lot on dog training today specific to homestead environments, such as interaction with livestock, this show should benefit anyone wanting a better relationship with their canine friends. I do want to make clear, I am not talking about LGDs, today, that would be livestock guardian dogs. While my dogs provide some protection to my animals they are not LGDs by a long shot. That is a highly specialized dog niche, requiring a very unique approach. I will instead today be talking about how to turn your dog into a good member of your family. One that doesn’t eat your birds, go into the trash, pee in the house, hurt visitors or let in strangers unchallenged. I mean no other family member would be expected to behave this way. Max is a loyal friend, a family member and a well behaved dog.   Join Me Today To Hear About….  Episode-103- TSP Rewind – Holy Crap I Just Found Out Everything Isn’t Super – Part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:19

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1190- Holy Crap I Just Found Out Everything Isn’t Super – Part 1 and was originally published on August 20th, 2019. The following are the original show notes from that episode… My intern Josiah that I should re do an older show that I haven’t done in a while. Perhaps modern survival philosophy or similar. He pointed out that many folks will show up in the Zello Channel and you can tell they have no knowledge of TSP Core Philosophy. However, I don’t like to overdue “reruns” so today I am going to focus on the mentality of new preppers and survivalists, how to get your head on strait and begin a solutions based system. That said I am going to recommend several past episodes (one quite recent) for new preppers and modern survivalists to develop the core knowledge necessary to build a truly resiliant life. They are Episode-1166- The Fundamental Mentality of Modern Survivalism Episode-848- Modern Survival Philosophy Episode-474- Disaster Probability, Impact and Commonality Episode-370- Situational Awareness vs Normalcy Bias   With those four episodes on your side you will be well on the way to understanding how to formulate your own plan based on your own needs based on your own risk tolerance. Today I will expand on these four core episodes. I will discuss what happens in the mind of the person who suddenly realizes things are not as safe as they appear. What “first exposure” feels like, which will be helpful for many who have forgotten. I will also discuss how to rein in this fear and this feeling of exposure and channel it instead into productive motivation.  Episode-2454- Choosing the 6 Basic Guns that Cover 99% of What Anyone Needs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:35:24

I recently got an email about getting new guns, not to pick on the guy but here it is to show the problem I want to fix today, some specifics redacted for privacy. I have a different take on a gun build question. I would like your help in building the ultimate prepper / hunter / red neck arsenal starting from near zero. Based on your expertise and the objectives I outline, I’d like you to tell me how many guns I should have, what calibers, what accessories, etc to most efficiently accomplish what I’m trying to do.  Your budget is $5,000. My situation – I live in xxxx and have a ~50 acre ranch in xxxx, County.  Ranch is overrun with brush and won’t get shots longer than 100 yards – I will occasionally hunt with clients for work (I’m in high end sales) – I can give you a little bit of a head start because I currently own a 70s-era 12 ga. Remington 1100 with new 26” and 30” barrels with remchoke.  My dad is also going to pass on to me a 30+ year old 22 revolver and 22 rifle in the short term.  Assume these are lower quality.  Feel free to recommend replacements for any of these if you think appropriate, or just ignore if you think it makes a better question for the show. My objectives, in descending order of importance, are 1) deer / hog hunting 2) side arm for protection from hogs/coyotes while working on my ranch 3) home protection / defense, including potentially concealed carry.  Note, I have large hands so I would prefer a larger carry weapon for shooting comfort 4) teaching my young kids to shoot when they get old enough 5) skeet shooting, for me and my wife (should i get a 20 ga?) 6) large game (elk / bear) hunting on occasional hunting trips 7) upland game / waterfowl hunting 8) pest elimination (grackles, rabbits, etc) 9) zombie apocalypse   As I’ve thought about what to buy, a few questions I’ve considered are: 1) 9mm, 40, or 45 for handgun? 2) should I get something like a 270 for deer and a 300 win mag for larger game, or a 30-06 for everything? 3) does a pistol caliber carbine make sense for me?   Thank you Jack for all that you do.  I’m really looking forward to your response. Regards, James Do you see the issue?  The guy is actually on point with the basics but then expands to “all over the map”.  Don’t feel bad James, I do this same shit too, every guy ever that decided to get a “new gun” or “new guns” does the same shit.  Something like this as our friend stands at a counter waiting to talk to someone…. “The 6.5 Grendel is the most accurate round, I should get one, but what if I want to hunt elk, is that enough gun.  I better ask on SomethingSomething Forum.  No, I already know they will tell me I am stupid for that, I should get a 7MM Mag, but all I really hunt is deer for now and I have a deer gun. You now the 6.5 can be in an AR platform, that would be good but I can’t hunt with that in some states.  H’mm I do like lever guns, they come in 45-70, that would knock down anything but what if I have a long shot.” Finally the clerk saunters over and says, is there something I could show you and our friend says something like… That Ruger revolver there in 357, do you have something similar to it in a 44 magnum? Friends our grandfathers had is down, we will attempt to build a base for James on their wisdom and from the provide guidance into additional decisions.  But let’s face it in the end asking a man to pick a single gun quickly for any need or want is like asking a kid in a penny candy store to pick a single piece of candy.  He won’t be able to make a decision and he is gonna come with a hundred excuses as to why he needs another one. Join Me Today to Discuss…. The Wisdom of Our Grandfathers – “Beware of the man that carries only one gun“. Expanding it to one gun per specific thing, out grand parents had A 22 rifle A “hunting rifle” A shot gun Mos[...]
