Learn Korean with KoreanClass101! Don't forget to stop by KoreanClass101.com for more great Korean Language Learning Resources! ----English---- Hello, everyone, this is Se Hwa Yoon. How do you spend Christmas? Do you spend time with your family? Do you exchange presents under the Christmas tree? Christmas is one of the biggest holidays in Korea too. However, the way Koreans spend time at the holidays is a bit different from other countries. A lot of young people spend most of Christmastime with their friends instead of spending time with their family. A lot of people get out of their house and have a great time with their friends. When I was in Korea, I also spent time with my friends, doing things such as eating delicious food and having great conversations with friends. There are several famous spots in Seoul, such as Kang Nam, Shin Chon, Jam Sil, and Ap Goo Jeong. Have you ever been there? If you have a chance to spend Christmas in Korea, would you like to visit these hot spots? The restaurants, stores, and even streets are full with people. I remember I had to visit ten restaurants to find seats for my friends and me. Can you believe that? All the restaurants were full of people; there were actually waiting lists to get in the restaurants. It is a bit different scene with different countries, where people exchange their presents under the Christmas trees. What do you think? About the presents, I believe it is not that common to exchange gifts in Korea. In fact, you don't buy all the presents for your family or friends. Spending quality time is more important in Korea than buying your family presents. Well, I believed in Santa Claus until I was fifth grade in elementary school. When I woke up on Christmas morning, I found beautiful presents. Christmas was my favorite holiday! How did you spend your Christmas? What was your favorite present? Would you tell me your country's Christmas culture? Is it a big holiday? Do you spend time with your family or friends? Thank you so much for listening and I will see you next week. --------------------------- Learn Korean with KoreanClass101!
