Get Help | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Richard and Linda are on the road to relaxation this week. While working on writing a new book they are spending some family/down time in Hawaii. The Eyres visit family a lot, and part of that travel is to offer generational help with kids.  Applying Happiness: Replace Independence with Synergicity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Today Richard and Linda conclude their short three part series on how to turn family relationships upside-down by removing decieving traits and inserting helpful ones. You might not be familiar with synergicity, but you probably understand the root. Synergy is the idea that the whole is more than just the sum of its parts, and in relationships that means when you work together you can accomplish more than you could independently.

Applying Happiness: Replace Ownership with Stewardship | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Don't be an ownership parent, be a stewardship parent. Today the Eyres dive into the second deceiver from Richard's new book The Happiness Paradox in the second episode in a short series. Ownership can be such a point of pride in American culture, but the quest for more ownership can tear families apart. Replacing that attitude with one of stewardship can bring a unified focus to He from whom all things come.

Applying Happiness: Replace Control with Serendipity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Happy New Year from the Eyres and you know what that means; it's New Year's Resolution time. For these next three Saturdays in January (before you give up on your good intentioned goals) Richard and Linda will be focusing on how to improve happiness in your family by letting go of certain traits, and replacing them with better ones. Today learn about control and how an attitude of serendipity can relieve that stress.

New Book for the New Year: Happiness | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Today the Eyres give us a sneak peak at their new book The Happiness Paradox, which will be released on New Year's day. There are paths that lead to happiness in our families and the paths that lead away from it. As Richard and Linda explain on the show today, most of us pursue Control, Ownership, and Independence in the belief that the more of them we have, the happier we will be. But in fact, these are the three things that pull us away from true happiness. The first “side” of the book presents the problem, and when the book is flipped over, the alternative attitudes of Serendipity, Stewardship and Synergicity are suggested as the opposite approaches that can “turn our lives right-side up” and make us better spouses and better parents. These can also work as great goals for the New Year. For the next three days there is a pre-pub sale at www.amazon.com/gp/product/164170053X, and you can read more about the book there or on the home page of www.valuesparenting.com.

Refugees at Christmas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown
