Thor was a great introduction to our first intergalactic Marvel Superhero (if you don't count Silver Surfer or Howard the Duck).
We loved Captain America: The First Avenger. Great story, Chris Evans is a perfect Cap and totally re-watchable. Some great supporting performances all around, and an incredible score by Alan Silvestri. What's not to love?
Ralph Breaks the Internet was a worthy sequel to part one. We learned so many lessons from it regarding internet usage, interacting with your friends and being prepared for the worst life can throw at you.
Overlord was super fun, realistic and gruesome. What a great mash-up of WWII battles and Zombie hysterics. We both recommend it highly. The acting was great, the special effects and the gore rocked, the WWII action was spot on and the story made sense (most of it, anyway).
Die Hard is one of the best action movies of all time. It turned Bruce Willis into a major star, and gave us the incredible Alan Rickman on the big screen for the first time. Fun story, great direction, good musical score and perfect acting. We had a fun time discussing this one.
We enjoyed the action, suspense and story of Hunter Killer. Perfect pacing, great acting, awesome underwater visuals and killer submarine action.
The Goonies is a perfect adventure movie for anyone who's ever wanted to follow a map to buried treasure. This one captured our imaginations back in '85, and it landed at the top of our lists in last week's Top 5 episode. Listen to this episode and let's live vicariously through the adventures of Mikey, Chunk, Mouth, Data, Brand, Andy and Stef.
We skip the lessons learned this week and instead discuss our individual top 5 defining childhood movies. Interestingly, at least to us, our lists only overlapped on one movie... and it was our #1 choice! Get ready for some fun '80's movie talk.
Bad Times at the El Royale was an enthralling movie from moment one. With incredible performances by Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Chris Hemsworth and the rest of the cast, it's a can't miss movie.
Venom was a totally enjoyable movie. What's all the negative critical reception about? Tom Hardy killed it as Brock/Venom and we both recommend watching it.
Top Gun is a quintessential, must-see '80's movie. We really enjoyed revisiting this and learning some great lessons. We discussed '80's music, actors and of course... Hot Shots!
Jennifer Garner killed it as the vengeance seeking mother Riley North in Peppermint. We thoroughly enjoyed this revenge genre movie, even though it didn't bring anything new. The violence was extremely satisfying and the audience is on Riley's side the entire way.
The Predator is at the bottom of our Predator franchise list, but it's still worth seeing if you're a Predator fan. Not as much suspense, but plenty of gore and action that R-rated movie fans love. Be ready for some confusing story elements, though.
Predator can do no wrong in our eyes. We love this height-of-80's-action movie. It does not get better than this.
We loved Crazy Rich Asians and had a great time discussing it and the lessons we learned. It was a supremely enjoyable more-romance-than-comedy romantic comedy. Fun and memorable characters played by great actors within a believable fish-out-of-water story makes this a must-see movie.
