 B.G.M. Podcast: The 1st of The Month | December 2018 | Catching Up | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:33:03

Hey! This is not Mike this month. This is Coop. Back in July of 2018, Mike and Jon invited me to join them for an episode of the podcast. Mike discussed seeing Radiohead at Madison Square Garden, Jon shared his love for The Internet’s latest album Hive Mind, and I talked about my adventures at Pitchfork Music Festival. Including nearly getting arrested during Lauryn Hill’s soundcheck. It was a great episode with memories and comradery. But due to some serious personal issues, the episode was never posted. This is not that episode. See, we here at Bearded Gentlemen Music like it to keep it fresh like putting on a clean Wu-Tang t-shirt straight out the dryer. Why wallow around in a podcast recorded nearly 6 months ago when you can record a brand new one? On this go around Mike, Jon, and I talk about some serious issues like why Mike thinks I’m a cheating garbage person for having a guest spot on another podcast. Which one of the Beatles Jon would Fuck /Mary /Kill. We even get a little deeper by discussing what could be done to mend a once strong relationship. To be honest this episode goes all over the map with topics and tone because we’re real dudes. No scripts or preconditioning here. Just three friends sitting crooked and talking straight. That and Mike reminding us that he’s Lionel Richie and we’re just The Commodores. So sit back and start your year off right by enjoying this special episode of the Bearded Gentlemen Podcast. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go apply the second coat of wax on Mike’s car… Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found.  B.G.M. Podcast: The 1st of The Month | June 2018 | New Throwback Jams | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:17:21

Hello! This is not Mike this month. This is Jon again. So in case you don’t know how our recording schedule works we try and record the podcast during the last weekend of the previous month and we try and release it on the first of the month. Hence the title. Here’s the problem, we recorded super early this month and we missed a ton of stuff that we would have probably spent the whole podcast talking about. Here’s a list of shit that we missed and it all has to do with Kanye again. * Pusha T’s new album, Daytona is an absolute banger of an EP / album. It fucking rules! – sampled in the pod * The whole Drake, Pusha T beef. * Push’s savage response back to Drake that basically burned his entire world down. * The whole J Prince telling Kanye to shut the Drake / Push beef down (very shady stuff). * Kanye’s new album, Ye which is okay. *  Kids See Ghosts, which is dope and I’m sure we will hit on that in this upcoming podcast for next month. – sampled in the pod Also, we had another guest this month. We were joined by the wonderful, Haley Lewis who writes for the site. She has written a ton of really great stuff for us like a Riot Grrrls piece, interviewed Martin Bisi (we talk about that encounter in the pod), her love for Jimmy Buffett,  and she is reviving the beer and album pairing column as well. However, she is off the grid so good luck telling her how great she did on the pod because you won’t be able to find her. How we were able to connect with her for this pod was honestly a small miracle. We also talk Courtney Barnett, Leon Bridges, SiR (but that album came out in January, but that is the album of the year), Parquet Courts, Beach Slang, and Beach House. Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play /

 B.G.M. Podcast: The 1st of The Month | May 2018 | The Redemption Episode | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:21

Welcome to Jon’s redemption. This month, a recap of the April 2018, Jon brought a lot of stuff to the table – a guest, some music, organization. It really was a huge triumph. The guest this month is B.G.M. staff writer Eddie Carter. Eddie is a nice chap, from the UK has his own blog called All the Time I Was Listening to My Own Wall of Sound and hosts a drive-time radio program called, Attention Please. So what did the three of us talk about? We actually talked about a ton of music this month. Who would have guessed. The first thing we absolutely did not talk about was the new garbage Godsmack record. Jon tried to be a funny guy by sending it to all of us, but nobody was having it. We actually discussed the new A Perfect Circle record, J. Cole (Mike thinks he’s wild trash which is the only good and right opinion) and, of course, KANYE. I mean how could we not talk about Kanye? Of course our Kanye talk is already wild out dated because Yeezy has been on some insane tweeting in the very few days after the pod was recorded. We try to stay as recent as possible, honestly the crazy stuff we are talking about is just really old crazy stuff by now. Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found. What’s “appropriately”?  Podcast: Best New Music April 2018 | The Weeknd, Jack White, STP, Amen Dunes, Dave Grohl, and Relationship Drama | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:00

Holy shit! Guess what?! I get to do the podcast intro this month. Who is this you might ask? Well it is me, Jon the Co-Host of the podcast and also simultaneously the bane of Mike’s existence. I might not be the Co-Host for much longer. You see I had some technical difficulties this time around, but that’s no excuse I fucked up and ruined Mike’s life. Why do I make Mike’s life so horrible? I don’t know why. Do I intentionally try and make Mike’s life horrible? No. Why does he continue to do this podcast with me? Who knows. This is the episode where our relationship truly hits rock-bottom. On top of all my apologizing and Mike dressing me down repeatedly we also talk a little bit about music. What we discover about Mike is quite revealing. HE DOESN’T LIKE NEW MUSIC! So why is he doing a podcast on new music? Because he values our friendship and likes to podcast with me and you know what I like to podcast with him too. So there’s that. Despite Mike not liking new music we do actually talk about some new music. We cover The Weeknd’s new EP, the super cool Stone Temple Pilots album, the latest Amen Dunes album, Jack White, and a really dope Miami noise-rock band called Wrong. They rule! In closing I would like to personally apologize One. More. Time. to Mike for the all inconsiderate things I have done. And I would also like to thank you, the listener / subscriber for sticking with Mike and I through our somewhat rocky relationship. Since we have hit rock-bottom we can only go up from here. One Love! – Jon And here’s the shit we post every month… Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found.  Podcast: March 2018 | Ticketmaster, Radiohead, Siamese Dream Justin Timberlake, and Frank Ocean | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:53

Welcome to the Bearded Gentlemen Music podcast… now called “The 1st of the Month”. The format will be Jon and I looking over what happened in the prior month and basically talking about things we like and didn’t like. You can look for the podcast to drop on the first of every month, unless if the first is on a weekend I guess. If it’s on a weekend it will either come out on the Monday after or the Friday before. Or maybe both. Or maybe neither. Who’s to say, really? Another month, another podcast… am I right, guys?!?!?!?! So this is the month that the Foo Fighters streak was broken. There was no new Foo Fighters news and it didn’t come up organically. Sure, Jon tried to force in some weird Foo Fighters talk, but it doesn’t count. The streak is dead and we can all move one. What did we talk about? Well I complained for a long time about buying tickets in 2018, Ticketmaster, Frank Ocean and getting arrested at a Jimmy Buffet concert. Jon was pretty quiet with the complaining, but he had some STRONG John Mayer takes and he felt strongly about the Justin Timberlake record. But who didn’t? Because, you know, the new Justin Timberlake record was trash. OH! And most importantly, Jon revealed he is now into house music. Check out his favorite of the month – Negative Spaces by Trudge. It feels like it’s a whole new world with Jon’s music taste. Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found.  February 2018 | Foo Fighters (again), tUnE-yArDs, Hamilton, and Justin Timberlake | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:17:06

Welcome to the new, relaunched, Bearded Gentlemen Music podcast… now called “The 1st of the Month”. If it’s on a weekend it will either come out on the Monday after or the Friday before. Or maybe both. Or maybe neither. Who’s to say, really? Another month, another podcast… am I right, guys?!?!?!?! Let’s take a minute to discuss how amazing it is that we’ve talked about the Foo Fighters for six straight months on this podcast. SIX. Completely unforced, they always just sort of come up. A half year of Foo Fighters podcasting. Coming soon we will be rebranded as the official Foo Fighters podcast. It has to come soon because I don’t think anyone has ever offered these many thoughts on the Foo Fighters. Anyway. Here we are in February and discussing music that came out in January 2018. Or not? Because there wasn’t really any good music that came out. So Mike, Jon, and special guest Tatiana from B.G.M. talk about a lot of other random stuff. Mostly how Tatiana is going to regret going to see Queens of the Stone Age live. Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found. What’s “appropriately”?  Podcast: 2017 Best and Worst Music | Costco | Barbershops | Foo Fighters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:16:55

Welcome to the new, relaunched, Bearded Gentlemen Music podcast… now called “The 1st of the Month Music Podcast”. The new format will be Jon and I looking over what happened in the prior month and basically talking about things we like and didn’t like. You can look for the pod to drop on the first of every month, unless if the first is on a weekend I guess. If it’s on a weekend it will either come out on the Monday after or the Friday before. Or maybe both. Or maybe neither. Who’s to say, really? Another month, another podcast… am I right, guys?!?!?!?! It’s now the beginning of January (not January 1, but close enough) and it’s time for a big 2017 wrap up spectacular. It really started with a lot of non-music talk… things like haircuts and Costco… you know stuff that normal music podcasts talk about all the time. But when we started talking music, we were rolling. The conversation really centered around Bearded Gentlemen Music’s year end list – a list that Jon has totally lost control of and the outcomes were not very good. We agree with some of the outcomes (King Krule, Anacondas, Kendrick Lamar), but others, IN OUR OPINIONS, are shit garbage (The National and Lorde). I mean making these lists has to be hard, but we also discuss ways to change the system for cooler results. Lastly, of course we talked about the Foo Fighters. Jon went and saw a Foo Fighters show, so I guess that’s pretty cool (?) and we discussed their appearance on SNL. Believe it or not, we weren’t fans. This also probably led to the spiciest take of the show – that Jon thinks Pat Smear’s guitar isn’t even plugged in. Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found. What’s “appropriately”?  Podcast: Christmas Music | Elvis | Bob Dylan | Wham! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:06:36

I’m to say this month, because the 1st of the Month Music Podcast isn’t coming out on the 1st of the month… nor does it really follow the format that we normally follow. Partially because we are lazy… … but partially because we wanted to talk Christmas music. Tis’ the season, right? And let’s be straight up, Christmas songs can be straight bangers. We recap all the Christmas songs we love and hate, but it seems like we mostly talk about the stuff we hate and get off onto weird tangents. We also definitely discover Jon doesn’t really know or like Christmas music like he claimed to. He came in reppin like he liked Christmas music, and it turns out he just has an Elvis Christmas CD and a Bob Dylan Christmas CD that he doesn’t even like. Also, please subscribe to our podcast and rate it appropriately on iTunes / Google Play / Stitcher and where ever else podcasts are found. What’s “appropriately”?
