Incredibles 2 & Tag Movie Review Talk with Scott Mantz | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:39:15

Welcome to the latest episode of Movie Review Talk with Scott Mantz! On this episode, Scott, Kevin McCarthy and Nikki Novak are discussing three new releases – Tag, Incredibles 2, and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Tag is directed by Jeff Tomsic stars Ed Helms. For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade—risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: “You’re It!“. This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming…and he’s ready. Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy “Tag” shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing. Rounding out the cast is Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis, Rashida Jones, Isla Fisher, Leslie Bibb, Hannibal Buress, with Jon Hamm and Oscar-nominee Jeremy Renner. Incredibles 2 welcomes back Brad Bird as its director and features the voices of Craig T. Nelson as Bob aka Mr. Incredible and Holly Hunter as Helen aka Elastigirl. Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2" – but this time Helen is in the spotlight, leaving Bob a home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible. The film also features the voices of Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, Samuel L. Jackson, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Jonathan Banks, Sophia Bush, and Isabella Rossellini. Won’t You Be My Neighbor is a documentary about Fred Rogers, the host of the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood program that ran for decades on public television. Academy Award winning filmmaker Morgan Neville takes an intimate look at America’s favorite neighbor: Mister Fred Rogers. A portrait of a man whom we all think we know, this emotional and moving film takes us beyond the zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination.  Flash Movie Films Next Year; Joker Budget Revealed + Live Calls - Movie Talk | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:54:00

Today on Collider Movie Talk (Thursday, June 14, 2018) Mark Ellis leads a panel of guests to discuss the following entertainment news topics AND takes your live questions via Skype! - ‘The Flash’ Movie to Abandon “Somber Themes”; Joker Movie Filming Date and Budget Revealed; The Batman Looking for Younger Actor - Comcast Makes it Official: Bids $65 Billion for Fox - Bidding War Underway - 'S-Town' Movie Adaptation in the Works with 'Spotlight' Helmer - James Corden Joins Melissa McCarthy in New Line’s 'Super Intelligence' - Ewan McGregor to Star in ‘Shining’ Sequel, 'Doctor Sleep' - Live Calls via Skype with Mark Ellis, Perri Nemiroff, and John Rocha According to a wide-ranging article at THR, there are major shakeups at Warner Bros. regarding the DC film universe, but this time it feels like things are actually going to stick. The new person in charge is Walter Hamada, who successfully carved out a number of hits at sister studio New Line, including The Conjuring universe, now has a specific plan for the DC Universe. While Disney made a $52.4 billion offer to acquire the bulk of 21st Century Fox’s TV and studio assets—including the film studio 20th Century Fox and with that the Marvel properties the studio holds—word surfaced weeks ago that Comcast might try to get in on the action instead. Indeed, Comcast confirmed Wednesday it’s making a $65 billion all-cash bid to acquire 21st Century Fox instead of Disney, and thus an official bidding war is now underway. Deadline reports that Participant Media has acquired feature rights to S-Town, the This American Life podcast - with Spotlight‘s Tom McCarthy in negotiations to direct the film and playwright Samuel Hunter is in talks to write the script. The podcast told the story of a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks podcaster Brian Reed to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, and the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life. Jeff Sneider of Collider reports that James Corden is signing on to join Melissa McCarthy in New Line’s action-comedy Superintelligence. Ben Falcone, McCarthy’s husband and longtime collaborator, is directing from a script by Steve Mallory. McCarthy and Falcone will also produce through their company On the Day. Production will start this summer, and Warner Bros. will release the film next year on Christmas Day. Variety reports that Ewan McGregor will star as Danny Torrance in Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the Stephen King novel Dr. Sleep, the sequel to horror classic. Sources say King has given his blessing to McGregor’s casting. Mike Flanagan, who helmed the Netflix adaptation of the King novella Gerald’s Game will direct, with the movie slated for release in January of 2020.

Wonder Woman 2: How Does Steve Trevor Come Back? - Movie Talk | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:50:00

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Wednesday, June 13th, 2018) Mark Ellis, Jeff Sneider and Perri Nemiorff discuss the following: -First Wonder Woman 2 Images Confirm Steve Trevor's Return -Teaser Trailer for Tim Burton's Dumbo Released -AT&T-Time Warner Merger Approved -Avengers: Infinity War Hits $2 Billion Worldwide -Interview from Incredibles 2 with Sarah Vowell (Violet) and Huck Milner (Dash) -Bryan Singer Will Be the Credited Director on ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ -John Cena, Jackie Chan to Star in Action-Thriller From 'Need for Speed' Director -Live Twitter Questions Yesterday, AT&T’s proposed merger with Time Warner was allowed and can now proceed. It does not pose antitrust problems, a federal judge ruled. The decision is a defeat for the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, which challenged the merger - arguing that it would ultimately cost consumers. The DOJ’s argument was that AT&T-Time Warner would use its increased leverage to extract “higher carriage fees for channels like TBS, TNT and CNN.” Avengers: Infinity War has officially crossed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office today, marking a genuinely rare achievement. It’s only the fourth film in history to break it, the first for a Marvel title and the third to do so in its initial run (Titanic hit $2 billion on re-release). It’s also Disney’s second film to crack $2 billion after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which completed its run with $2,068,223,624 worldwide. While the first trailer for the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody went over well, it was impossible not to notice that the trailer made no mention of the film’s director. After Bryan Singer left the production and Eddie the Eagle filmmaker Dexter Fletcher was brought in, the question became: who would get credit. As revealed in the new issue of Empire Magazine, it’s Bryan Singer. THR reports that John Cena has joined Jackie Chan to star in a new action thriller from Need for Speed director Scott Waugh. Cena replaces Sylvester Stallone, who was previously attached to star alongside Chan, in a movie that centers on a Chinese private security contractor (Chan) who is called in to extract the oil workers when a China-run oil refinery in the Middle East is attacked. When he learns that the attackers’ real plan is to steal a fortune in oil, he teams up with an American — a former Marine played by John Cena — to stop them.  'The Batman' Reportedly a Reboot with New Actor - Movie Talk | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:44:05

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Tuesday, June 12th, 2018) Mark Ellis, Jeff Sneider, John Rocha discuss the following: -Matt Reeves’ The Batman Reportedly A Reboot with New Actor; Geoff Johns Exits DC to Produce and Write Green Lantern Corps -Gal Gadot Teaming with Dwayne Johnson for Actioner ‘Red Notice’ -Amblin Spins ‘Arachnophobia’ Redo With James Wan Producing -First ‘The Little Stranger’ Trailer: Domhnall Gleeson Leads a Ghost Story from ‘Room’ Director -First ‘Jojo Rabbit’ Image Shows off Taika Waititi’s Imaginary, Sassy Hitler -Live Twitter Questions Thanks to THR, we now have word that DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns will be leaving his post to enter into an exclusive deal with WB to write and produce new films; the first being Green Lantern Corps. But buried in a Deadline article of the same news comes word that Matt Reeves was rebooting Batman for a new standalone franchise, likely with a new actor to play the Caped Crusader after Ben Affleck’s stints in Batman V Superman and Justice League. Deadline now reports that Gal Gadot has closed a deal to star alongside Dwayne Johnson in Red Notice. The movie is described as an action comedy, which Rawson Marshall Thurber (Skyscraper) is directing from his original script. Universal Pictures won the movie after a heated multi-studio bidding war back in February, becoming one of the biggest package deals so far this year. Red Notice is said to begin shooting in April of 2019 with Universal releasing the film worldwide on June 12, 2020. Deadline reports that Amblin and James Wan’s Atomic Monster are in the early stages of a remake of Arachnophobia, the 1990 Frank Marshall-directed horror-comedy about a South American killer spider that crosses the U.S. border in a coffin. After the spider breeds with a regular house spider, it spawns a huge army of killers spiders that take out people in town. No writer or director have been attached, and a release date has not been set at this time. Focus Features has released the first trailer for The Little Stranger, the highly anticipated new film from Oscar-nominated Frank and Room filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson. The film takes place during the summer of 1948 and revolves around a country doctor named Dr. Faraday (Domhnall Gleeson). He is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his housemaid mother used to work, but when he encounters the home’s curious family, ominous occurrences soon follow. Taika Waititi‘s World War II satire Jojo Rabbit has recently begun filming and to celebrate, the first official images from the production has been released online showing Taika as the Imaginary Friend (Hitler) to an awkward young German boy (Roman Griffin) raised by a single mother (Scarlett Johansson) all around the dinner table. A release date has not yet been set. The spinoff from director Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) opened to $41.5 million, which is the best opening for the franchise. Solo, meanwhile, fell to the #2 slot with $15.2 million for the weekend. That’s a significant drop off for the film’s third weekend in release, and its domestic total stands at $176.1 million. By comparison, Rogue One had amassed $318 million by its third weekend. Disney announced on Friday that John Lasseter will leave the Walt Disney Co. at the end of the year following a sexual harassment scandal. Lasseter was chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar, and has been on a “sabbatical” since Nov. 21. The statement released said that Lasseter will take a consulting role until Dec. 31, when he will then leave the company. The statement did not acknowledge the reasons for his departure, nor did it give any indication that the company investigated his conduct. Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for First Man, the highly anticipated third feature from Oscar-winning Whiplash and La La Land filmmaker Damien Chazelle. Written by Oscar-winning Spotlight and The Post co-writer Josh Singer, the film is based on a book by James R. Hansen and chronicles the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong between the years of 1961 and 1969. First Man opens in theaters on October 12th. In an interview with Empire magazine, Matthew Vaughn revealed that with an already planned third Kingsman film he is also planning a spinoff entitled Kingsman: The Great Game, which is described as a look at the spy organization at the turn of the 20th century. Vaughn also said that an eight-hour Kingsman TV show was in the works, along with a film focusing on the U.S.-based Statesmen that were introduced in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Vaughn also revealed that he’s looking to to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl - with him teasing a possible solo Hit-Girl film. Universal released the first trailer for Halloween announcing the return of horror icon Michael Myers. The sequel picks up forty years after the first film, disregarding all the subsequent films, and picks up with the residents of Haddonfield on another horrifying Halloween night when Myers stalks the streets. Halloween arrives in theaters October 19. Sources for Variety say that Leto is set to star and exec produce an untitled standalone film, paving the way for future movies. MGM announced yesterday that it has set the voice cast for its Addams Family animated movie setting Charlize Theron (Morticia), Allison Janney (arch nemesis Margaux Needler), two-time Oscar nominee Bette Midler (Grandmama), Chloë Grace Moretz (Wednesday), Finn Wolfhard (Pugsley), and Nick Kroll (Uncle Fester) - they’ll join the already announced Oscar Isaac as Gomez. The movie has been dated for Oct. 11, 2019 Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for Mortal Engines, the upcoming fantasy epic based on the book of the same name by Philip Reeve. The feature has been in the works for some time and boasts a screenplay by the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings writing team of Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens, but it’s Christian Rivers who’s in the director’s chair. Mortal Engines opens in theaters on December 14th. That deal never closed. Per the report, Liman will work from the existing script with a new scribe to be announced. Amazon Studios has debuted the first trailer for the upcoming Suspiria remake. The film also stars Tilda Swinton, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, and Jessica Harper. The movie is set for release on November 2nd, 2018.
