Title -Gundam Live-Action Movie in the Works at Legendary -Idris Elba to Play Villain in ‘Fast and Furious’ Spinoff Starring Dwayne Johnson -Live Twitter Questions Ant-Man and the Wasp took the No 1 spot coming in under expectations with a weekend estimate of $76 million. That’s still nearly $20 million above the first Ant-Man’s $57 million opening weekend, but it marks Marvel’s fifth lowest opening ever, above only Ant-Man, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Incredible Hulk. The First Purge, meanwhile, grossed an estimated $17.2 million for the weekend, bringing its five-day total to $31.1 million. That’s right in line with expectations and is probably a good sign for the future of the franchise. The first major casting has come in for Star Wars: Episode IX, with Variety reporting Keri Russell in early talks for an unknown role that calls for “action-heavy scenes.” The report doesn’t say if she’ll be Resistance, First Order, or unaffiliated. Variety also reports that “Abrams will likely cast two more actors by the time the film begins production at the end of the month. Speaking with ComingSoon.Net Keanu Reeves confirmed that the upcoming title for the third John Wick movie is called John Wick 3: Parabellum. Reeves told the outlet that the subtitle means “Prepare for war.” He explained, ” It’s part of that famous sentence, ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum,’ which translates as, ‘If you want peace, prepare for war.'” According to THR, a live-action Gundam movie is in the works with Legendary Entertainment co-producing a feature based on the the popular anime from the Japanese animation studio Sunrise. The announcement was made at the 2018 Anime Expo, which is taking place in Los Angeles. Variety reports that Idris Elba is in final negotiations to play the main villain in Hobbs and Shaw, the “Fast and Furious” spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. Sources for Variety say Elba’s character will be the villain the duo will go up against.  Kevin Feige Refutes Lucasfilm Rumors - Movie Talk | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:55:35

Buy new Collider shirts right here: https://shop.bonfire.com/collider On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Thursday, July 5th, 2018) Mark Ellis, John Rocha, and Jeff Sneider discuss the following: -Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige Isn’t Taking Over Lucasfilm -Child’s Play Reboot in the Works -Miles Teller Nabs Goose's Son Role in 'Top Gun' Sequel -Skyward Comic Lands at Sony With Director Brad Peyton -The Crown’s’ Vanessa Kirby Joins Dwayne Johnson in ‘Fast and Furious’ Spinoff -Live Twitter Questions Peter Sciretta of Slash Film finally had the opportunity to ask Kevin Feige about those pesky rumors that keep popping up about him leaving Marvel and taking on Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise. Asked point blank about the possibility at the Ant-Man and the Wasp press junket - Will he be involved in the future of Star Wars? - Feige simply smiled and said: “No. Only in my backyard with my action figures.” Both Collider and THR report that MGM is developing a remake of the 1988 horror classic Child’s Play. Lars Klevberg, who directed the as-yet-unreleased horror movie Polaroid, is set to direct from a script by Tyler Burton Smith, whose credits include Kung Fury and the video game Quantum Break. Plot details remain under wraps so MGM hasn’t confirmed any of this, though Collider has learned that it’s a contemporary reboot involving a group of kids (a la Stranger Things), and a technologically-advanced doll. Variety reports that after a shortlist of actors were revealed to be up for Goose’s son alongside Tom Cruise, Miles Teller has secured the role. Teller will star opposite Tom Cruise in the long-in-the works sequel that sees Cruise, reprising his role as the hot-shot pilot with the call sign Maverick. The movie is slated for release on July 12th, 2019. Variety is reporting that Sony has gained the rights to the comic book property, Skyward - tapping San Andreas and Rampage director Brad Peyton to direct. Joe Henderson, the current Lucifer showrunner, will also write the adaptation and executive produce. Skyward is set in a world where the Earth has lost a fraction of its gravity and 20 years into the future, society has accustomed their lifestyles around the lack of gravity. Main character Willa Fowler was born after “G-Day”, and has uncovered a plot to restore gravity to its normal state. Variety reports that The Crown star is in final negotiations to star opposite Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in the Fast and Furious spinoff entitled: Hobbs and Shaw. Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is on board to helm with Johnson and Statham reprising their roles of special agent Luke Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw, respectively. Kirby will play an MI-5 agent and Shaw’s sister. The spinoff is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2019.  Star Wars: What If Solo Stuck with Lord & Miller? - Mailbag | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:20:03

Sunday, July 1st: Perri Nemiroff and John Rocha answer your mailbag questions. 1. If I see Ant-Man and the Wasp via a movie subscription pass, does it count differently than if I pay with cash? 2. What do you think of the new Thrawn novel artwork featuring Anakin Skywalker? 3. What are your top 10 A24 movies? 4. If Captain Marvel doesn’t work or the fans don’t take to Brie Larson in the role, could that hurt Avengers 4 “in the smallest way of course”? 5. If Lord and Miller would’ve stayed on Solo, would it have been the risky Star Wars movie we all need and crave?  Avengers 4: Will the Snap Victims Remember What Happened? - Mailbag | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:28:53

Saturday, June 30th: Dennis Tzeng and Perri Nemiroff answer your mailbag questions. What is the role of a producer and what is the difference between an executive-producer and producer? Keep up the great work and thank you for taking my question. Will the characters from Avengers 4 who were dusted by Thanos have some kind of memory of what happened and have to deal with the emotional toll going forward in future movies? Mini trailer before the trailer…WHY??? Do you think Mission: Impossible Fallout will be the highest grossing film in the franchise thus far? What’s a movie that’s in production that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but one that people should keep an eye on?  Sicario: Day of the Soldado & The King Movie Review Talk with Scott Mantz | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 00:41:05

Welcome to the latest episode of Movie Review Talk with Scott Mantz! On this episode, Scott, Leonard Maltin, and Grae Drake are discussing three new releases – Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Leave No Trace, and The King. Sicario: Day of the Soldado is directed by Stefano Sollima and features the return of Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro as Matt Graver and Alejandro, the roles they originated in 2015’s Sicario. In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the drug war on the US – Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) reteams with the mercurial Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro).” Leave No Trace is the latest directorial effort from Winter Bone’s Debra Granik and stars Ben Foster and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie as Will and his daughter Tom. Will and his teenage daughter, Tom, have lived off the grid for years in the forests of Portland, Oregon. When their idyllic life is shattered, both are put into social services. After clashing with their new surroundings, Will and Tom set off on a harrowing journey back to their wild homeland. The King is a documentary from writer/director Eugene Jarecki that lists Steven Soderbergh, Errol Morris and Rosanne Cash amongst its producers. The film features real life remembrances Alec Baldwin, James Carville, Chuck D, Emmylou Harris, Mike Myers, Ethan Hawke and many others. Forty years after the death of Elvis Presley, a musical road trip across America in his 1963 Rolls Royce explores how a country boy lost his authenticity and became a king while his country lost her democracy and became an empire.   Collider News Frustrations & Where is Collider Live? - After Thoughts | File Type: audio/x-mpeg | Duration: 01:54:30

On this episode of Collider After Thoughts, Ryan Snelling and Jaye Williams are curious what the standards are for crude language on the Collider YouTube channel. They react to the t-shirt campaign going down on Bonfire, and mention why they don't always cover shows like 1 on 1 w/ Kristian Harloff every week. Finally, they make an argument as to why we all needed Collider Live! yesterday, and voice our frustrations with the current direction of Collider News.
