Welcome back to the next installment of the Music Crush Monday Podcast! This week Kevin is showing a band he says he “Loves” to listen to. That's right, the “L” word was used! It is time to check what this band sounds like and what Steve’s reaction is. There is no question about it, this is a heavy sounding band and even though Kevin generally leads towards those heavier sounding bands, this is one that is nearing the top of the list of aggressiveness and intensity. Right out the gate the level is at a 10. It is one of those bands that Kevin can put on when feeling stressed or is having a rough day at the office. It is funny how counterproductive it could be to listen to something so aggressive to calm stress. What bands do you listen to that has that same effect? Are there certain bands or genres that you tend to turn to in certain moods? Please share! This band has multiple elements going on in their music but primarily in the hardcore and metal. It is another debatable topic with genres and subgenres. There is metalcore as their primary sound but they deem themselves as a hardcore punk band. With multiple albums put out this band has seen some success and took a hiatus but came back in 2018 with some new music and touring. Once the world heads back to some normalcy I am sure this band will be hitting the road again. Reach out to us below with your thoughts on this week’s band, music, and their story. While you are at it be sure to leave a like and review for the show as it really helps! Don’t forget to tune in next week as Steve shows us all another band. Will he use the “L” word as well?  119. Twisting a Previous Thought | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:51

It is Monday and by now you SHOULD know the drill! Each week we present a band that one of us personally loves and this week that one of us is none other than Steve. He will be showing us a band that he likes and as we all listen to the stories that come along with it, there is a chance you will also like this band. Steve digs back to the 90s for this one but for good reason. It might bring him back to a place where he wanted to re-visit or was reminded of how much he used to love to listen to this particular band. There is a moment in the episode where Kevin hasn’t even heard the song played but it brings him back to when he was younger at a friends house. It is amazing how music can do that! Just listening to a song that came from a certain time period can instantly put you there. We have said it many times on this podcast but music is such a wonderful thing and that is just one of the many reasons. For the band this week, there is a huge hit that they had and were successful from it but they have more to offer. Did you have a pre-conceived thought of this band after you figured out who it was? Reach out to us and tell us about it. There is no shame, we just love to talk music! So don’t be shy and use any or all of the links to contact us directly. Thank you for supporting this podcast and tuning in each week. We have not missed a Monday yet so be sure to tune in next week and to pass along the good news. It is easy to share this podcast with your friends and loved ones! We appreciate your support and as always, we will see you next Monday!  118. What Are We Waiting For | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:18

Welcome to another episode of the Music Crush Monday Podcast!  This week Kevin is playing a band that has been on his list from the start of this podcast and felt it was a good time to play them.  There are no surprises this week when it comes to the style and the music but the big surprise will be if Steve enjoys the music or not!   On this podcast, the guys like to have fun and goof around as they talk about music but sometimes it is time to talk about something serious.  This is not a political podcast or one that touches often on social issues but because of the current state in this world, Kevin ties this band and their music into that.  When it comes to music, in the end, it does not even matter what you look like, what your background is, or even where you come from.  Music is a language we can all speak if you take the time to listen.  It helps people in the darkest of times or even sheds new light on something for someone.  Regardless, you hear music with your ears and feel it in your soul.  We at the Music Crush Monday Podcast want to stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and hope that change comes out of all of this because there is no other choice, things have to change for the better.   We hope you enjoyed the music this week and the discussions that went along with it.  Do not forget to check out the band links listed below if you want to hear the band a little more.  Also do not forget to check out our contact links and follow us on our social media pages so you can stay up to date on all that is going on in MCM land.  Thank you for joining us this week and as always, we will see you next Monday! This week’s band has some interesting musicianship and is fun to listen to.  There are some interesting dynamics that go on as well as some different emotions.  It is always cool to have bands like this in your arsenal as you browse through your catalog and want something a little different from the rest.  It is also fun listening to bands that can set the “scene” a little differently than others and what that means is creating an atmosphere with their music.  Again, something good to have in your arsenal to impress your friends with.  What bands do you listen to that are just a little different from the rest of music catalog?  All of our contact information is listed below so do not be shy!  Give the podcast a follow and social media and drop a line to say hello and suggest bands to check out!  If you also feel so inclined to support the podcast, check out the Patreon page where as little as $1 a month can get you some additional content from the guys.  The tiers go up from there so go check it out!  Thank you again for joining us this week and as always, we’ll see you next Monday!  Support us on Patreon!    www.patreon.com/musiccrushmondaypodcast    If you want to listen to the episode as intended, please do not look at the featured band links beforehand if at all possible.  Check out our Spotify playlist for more of their music and please reach out to us via the links below.  We’ll see you next Monday!    Website:  www.musiccrushmonday.com  Email:  musiccrushmonday@gmail.com    Patreon:  www.patreon.com/musiccrushmondaypodcast   Facebook:  www.facebook.com/musiccrushmondaypodcast   Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/mcmpod/   Twitter:  https://www.instagram.com/mcmpod/    Intro and Outro music:  “The Breakdown” by At The Wayside    ***  WARNING!  ***    ***  WARNING!  ***    ***  SPOILER ALERT!  ***    ***  SPOILER ALERT!  ***    ***  Disclaimer:  We at the Music Crush Monday Podcast would like for our listeners to listen to the bands blind with us but we also want you to check out the band further if they were interesting to you.  Please review the links below to find more on today’s featured band.  ***    Band:  Ben Folds FiveSocials:https://twitter.com/benfoldshttps://www.instagram.com/murkanpianist/https://www.facebook.com/BenFolds/ Songs Played: Eddie Walker off of the album Naked Baby PhotosNarcolepsy off of the album The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner Spotify: www.tinyurl.com/mcmep117

 116. Podcast Worthy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:48:25

This week Kevin is up and is bringing a band that he has been itching to play on the podcast. Will Steve know who the band is? Probably, but will he like the band? Tune in to find out if you hear the good ol Ric Flair “Wooo!” or a Papa Steve “And thats Jazz” or even if the USA Basketball Dream Team is mentioned. So many good things in this episode! It has been shared before that sometimes you run across a band that immediately hooks you in. There was a time when Kevin was getting into this band and he messaged Steve about how the song he was listening to was just making him smile he was enjoying it so much. Steve knew that Kevin liked this band but didn’t know it was “Podcast Worthy” Listen in as Kevin goes through the band’s history and what it is that he likes about the band. Even if a band isn’t groundbreaking or discovering a new sound to share with the world, they can still be just as effective. This band plays simple sounding but incredibly catchy music and it comes down to songwriting and song structure. Give this band a listen and let us know what you think! As always reach out to us below and let us know some of your favorite bands to check out. All of our contact information is listed a well as our patreon page.  115. Kevin Learns Something Today | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:57:03

Welcome back to another episode of the Music Crush Monday Podcast! We have an exciting week up for you as Steve digs back to another important band in his musical journey. Listen in as he gives the band’s history and what important role they have played. Also, listen in as a spontaneous guest spot jumps in for a minute! Isn’t it awesome how you can love a band growing up but then almost “move on” from a band but the second you put them back on you remember it all? What part of your brain remembers lyrics from 20 years ago? It is pretty incredible. For whatever reason, if a band helped shape your musical taste do not let go of that band because if anything it will bring back nothing but fond memories. What bands do you listen to that have that nostalgic feel? It would be awesome to hear from you all and to just see the diversity in favorite bands and musical taste! So don’t be shy, all of our contact information is listed below and we would seriously love to hear from you. We love to talk music, so lets talk music!  114. Other Steve's Suggestions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:27

This week the guys decided to tweak the format. There are many mentions of friend Steve Smith on this podcast who is mostly referred to as “Other Steve” and Kevin was talking music with Other Steve one day and a band was suggested to check out. So Kevin decided to check the band out for the first time while recording an MCM episode! One of the biggest reasons this podcast started was to share music with each other and this episode is taking that even one little step further. Listen in as the guys listen to this band together and hear their thoughts on the music! There have been many mentions about suggesting music to listen to for the podcast and for the guys to check out. If you liked this format of the show then why not continue to do it! Reach out to the MCM crew and suggest some music to check out! All of the contact information is listed below so do not be shy! If you have been listening to the podcast for some time you would know that the music taste can vary so don’t hold back! Pass along your favorites and lets get this music out to the world!  113. Gimme the Gimmick | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:47

Welcome back to another brand new episode of the Music Crush Monday Podcast! Each week we take turns talking about a band that one of us personally loves and this week Steve is doing just that! Tune in and listen to this band and their story. What do you think? What will Kevin think? The anticipation is just too much to bear! There are times in life when music brings you to an emotional state, reminds you of a specific time in your life, a time to love, a time to laugh, and a time to have some fun! If you take the time to read these show notes each you will probably recall that the phrase “Music is beautiful” is mentioned quite a bit. Well, this is a time to have some fun! This band is unique and has a cool thing going for them. They have a specific “shtick” and they do it well. It is also very well documented that usually a gimmick band isn’t high on Kevin’s list but learning that each album that is released has a theme he feels it is nothing short of brilliant. Tune in to hear the reaction and to hear Steve break this band’s history down. Let us know what you think of this week’s episode and of the music! Do not forget to check out our social media links and ways to contact us. We would love to hear from you so please lets have a conversation!  112. This Is Your Fault | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:46:19

Welcome back to another episode of the Music Crush Monday Podcast! This week is a fun one where Kevin is presenting a band that he goes pretty far back on. Kevin references the spring episode where Steve played an artist that reminds him of spring or summer when driving the car with the windows down. Well now it is Kevin’s turn! Check out the song to see if it is something that you would blast in your car. Big question of the episode, would Steve do the same? Kevin admits that this band changed A LOT of things for him musically. Which this band has probably done that for a lot of people. They opened a lot of doors for him and he will always look back at this band with fondness. Even if he doesn’t listen to them nearly as much as he initially did it is still a band he will list as influential. This week’s band has had a long career of success and really broke a lot of ground when they first hit the scene. What band was one that affected you in a big way? Bands can shape your musical tastes in a positive or negative way. Reach out to us to tell us which bands have done that to you, positive or negative.  108. Talk the Ska (w. Mattie from the Talk The Ska Podcast) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:14:55

 106. You Ain't It | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:39:08

Welcome back to the Music Crush Monday Podcast! We hope you are all doing well and being safe. We really hope you are enjoying these episodes each and every Monday! This Monday is no different, Kevin presents yet another band and to him, this is a fun band that has some hardcore punk, hardcore, metalcore and whatever other cores you can think of. It is a loud band that he throws on when he is in the mood for something faster paced and heavy. This band was discovered when he went to a live show and they were an opening act. We’re not sure why but opening bands don’t always stick out but every once in awhile it happens. This band sucked him in with a high energy show and how tight they were. After all, is said and done, what will Steve think? Sometimes a heavier band hits his rotation. Will this be one of them?
