Ep 140: Kalaha!, Universal Basic Income and why are expats the unhappiest in the happiest country in the world? | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 01:00:00

Talking about happiness in Denmark is like stepping into a minefield. Year after year Denmark “is wining” a spot in the top three happiest countries in the world, and yet, according to statistics, the country is evaluated by expats as one of the harders to settle in. How can that be? Where does this discrepancy originate from? And how can you be unhappiest in the happiest country in the world? Join us for this exciting program, where together with Anatoli Cantir, an expert on Danish culture, we try to solve this puzzling paradox. ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Interview with Niclas Knudsen from Kalaha!   CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: A question to Anatolie: From the research - but most importantly from your own personal stand - what are the biggest challenges for the expats to "feel happy" in Denmark? What are the reasons and possible solutions? Interested in the topic? Read Anatolie’s articles: Denmark - The Unhappiest Expats in the Happiest Country in the World (Part 1) Denmark - The Unhappiest Expats in the Happiest Country in the World - (Part 2- on Equality) Danish Culture is an "Extreme" (Part 3 - on Trust)   BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: "Denmark is the happiest country in the world" - is it true or is it bullshit?   WISDOM OF THE WEEK: “Danish Culture is an extreme” /Anatolie Cantir   FROM THE LEFT FIELD: Universal Basic Income: best idea ever or a disaster-in-the-making? ——————— About Anatolie Cantir: I arrived in Denmark 15 years ago from native Moldova and made the town of Herning my home.  Ep 132: ISAN, Annoying Colleagues And Top Ten Most Annoying Things In Life | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 01:00:18

In today’s episode, yet another dear friend of You’ve Got Options has shared his music with us; Antony Ryan, as a part of the Duo ISAN, has featured a single from their brand new album, released exactly the same day as our show! Apart from that, we dug into annoying colleagues and other people, mirroring and top ten most annoying things in life! In This Episode We Had: ARTIST OF THE WEEK: ISAN CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: I have a colleague that I find really annoying. She’s usually very nice to people, but then she talks behind their back. Recently I was told she’s been gossiping about me, but then she’s super nice and sweet when we talk. Also, she likes to feed herself off somebody’s misery, she’ll literally put someone down in front of other colleges and management, to make herself look good.  Marta’s 5 Steps to Deal with an Annoying Co-worker: Distance yourself and don’t take it personally Take responsibility for your emotions Step into your colleague's shoes Look for lessons learned Resolve the conflict internally or with the colleague BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: If someone is really annoying and they are not open to dialogue, there is nothing you can do to change it.  WISDOM OF THE WEEK: “When we want to look at ourselves, we have to use a mirror to gain a reflection of self in order to see our outer image from a perspective we wouldn’t be able to see if a mirror wasn’t available to us. Sometimes when we look in the mirror, we critique our appearance because our reflection offers us the opportunity to change what we see, if we deem that necessary. But how can we view ourselves beyond a physical level? How can we see inside ourselves? What mirror reflects the part of us that highlights on our triggers/reactions, our patterns, our yearnings, our unhealed wounds, our unconscious thoughts, or our deepest beliefs so we're more aware of what needs to be changed within ourselves?” https://growthofalotusflower.com/growth-of-a-lotus-flower-blog/spiritual-mirrors “People whose personalities and actions tend to push our buttons the most are generally our greatest teachers. These individuals serve as our mirrors and teach us what needs to be revealed about ourselves. Seeing what we don't like in others helps us look deeper inside ourselves for similar traits and challenges that need healing, balancing, or changing”. https://www.learnreligions.com/spiritual-mirroring-1732059 FROM THE LEFT WEEK: The Ten Most Annoying Things in Life https://www.thetoptens.com/most-annoying-things/ ——————- INTRO and jingles for the show produced by Supermoon Music Recording Studio About The Artist Of The Week:

Ep 131: Signe Bjerre, Creativity Blocks, Not Necessarily Suffering Artists and Throwbacks to our old episodes | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:59:53

In today’s episode, a dear friend of You’ve Got Options, Signe Bjerre, couldn’t make it to the show in the last minute, but we still managed to feel her presence as she sang her beautiful version of Sweater Weather. We’ve also deep-dived into creativity, what could block it and how to unlock it! Oh, and of course we looked into the ageless question, do you need to suffer to be an artist? In This Episode we had:   ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Signe Bjerre CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: I feel blocked when it comes to creativity, A person could be compared to a faucet and creativity to water; how easily and naturally can the water flow through the faucet... Right now it feels like there are just some drops leaking from the faucet every now and again and I feel the longing to open the faucet fully and let the water flow. But I feel blocked and I don't know how to do that. There are also so many different things I could do, how do I choose the right one? How do I unblock my creativity?   Marta’s 5 Creativity Blocks to be lifted to unlock the creativity: Mental Blocks Emotional Blocks Physical Blocks Relationship Blocks Clarity and Overwhelm Blocks   BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: You have to suffer to be a real artist   WISDOM OF THE WEEK: “Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.” – Pablo Picasso   FROM THE LEFT WEEK: Throwback to Marta’s and Anna’s creativity challenges from the Episode 28 ——————- INTRO and jingles for the show produced by Supermoon Music Recording Studio

Ep 130: Joe Wilkes, Narcissists & Emphats, Gaslighting and do Energy Vampires really exists? | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 01:00:02

In today’s episode, we’re shedding a light on a type of emotional abuse that - while being quite common - is still difficult to recognize: THE GASLIGHTING. Gaslighting - colloquially called “narcissist favourite manipulation tool” - is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception, and sanity*. So if you have ever heard from your partner or a family member that you are oversensitive, over-reacting or “it’s you who have a problem”, you definitely need to tune in for this one! *Wikipedia,  In This Episode we had:  ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Joe Wilkes CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: I have a big challenge with my childhood friend. We’ve been friends forever and that friendship means a lot to me. However, every time I come out of a meeting with my friend, I feel exhausted and bad about myself. Every time I try to talk to her about my feelings, I end up feeling sorry for her and as if I was the one who did something wrong. She doesn’t seem to ever see herself doing something wrong, but she sees me doing everything wrong. I often feel as if I am the crazy one. When I think about how bad I feel, I just want to end that relationship, but we have been friends for more than 20 years, so I want to give it one more chance. Is there something I can do? Marta’s 5 steps to solve the challenge: Distance yourself from your friend- stop taking what she says personally Assume that there’s a reason for her “bad behaviour” Take really good care of your own emotions Set very clear boundaries Decide if you still want to be friends- weigh out the good vs the bad) BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: Energy Vampires: What are they and are they real?  WISDOM OF THE WEEK: Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) and Gaslighting for dummies If you would like to know more about the topic, contact us and we’ll make an entire episode about it!  129: The Kimberleys, Urban Legends and can men suffer from postpartum depression (with Judy Wanijku Jørgensen)? | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 00:59:59

This episode might have started funny, but the topics we’ve discussed are definitely not a laughing matter. Join us and our friend of the show Judy Wanijku Jøregensen (aka our Queen of Vulnerability) and listen to a very important discussion about postpartum depression: How to recognize it? What to do if you have it? Where to go for help? And can men suffer from it as well (the answer may surprise you!)? In This Episode we had:   ARTIST OF THE WEEK: The Kimberleys CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: “My Journey with Postpartum Depression” by Judy Wanijku Jørgensen (visit Judy’s website and read her stories here) Marta’s 5 steps to start dealing with postpartum depression Inform your doctor/ nurse Forgive yourself  Take care of your emotions  Organize as much support as possible  Make sure your partner/ close family & friends are educated   BULLSHIT OF THE WEEK: Can men truly suffer from postpartum depression? From “The weather” by Aubrey Hirsch (read the full article on Medium) The depression is a flu that will not abet. Most mornings, D drags himself into the living room on all fours. He lies face-down on the interlocking foam floor tiles, his upturned arms at his sides. The baby crawls over him, tugging his hair, drooling on his t-shirts. He doesn’t move. He complains of headaches, nausea. He has nightmares. He’s cold all the time. No, he’s hot all the time. He never sings anymore when he moves through the house. Sometimes when he walks, I swear I can hear it, the depression. It’s a liquid sound. I can hear the cortisol sloshing around in his veins. I can hear the adrenaline drip-drip-dripping down the twisted cord of his spine. To name it, I have since learned, is fully half the battle. So I will name it here: D suffered from postpartum depression. I will name it here because we didn’t name it then, not in those tender months after our first baby was born. We knew there was a problem — a big, hulking bear of a problem — but we didn’t call it postpartum depression. We called it up all night and not enough resources. We called it fussy baby and reflux is brutal. We called it stress and bad sleeper and babies are hard even when they’re easy. We said we were tired. We said we hadn’t lined up enough help. We said we weren’t good at co-parenting a newborn. These things were true, but there was something else, too In hindsight, we should have seen it right away. By the time my son was two weeks old, I’d dutifully filled out the postpartum depression screening form no less than six times. In the last week, how often had I felt happy? All the time? Most of the time? Not very often? Never? Had I been able to laugh and see the funny side of life? Had things been getting on top of me? Had I been sleeping? Had I been crying? Have I been looking forward to things with regularity? Not once was my husband asked these questions. -----------------
