We're counting down the days until training camp (11!) but have another full show. We kick it off by talking to sports radio legend Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton about the aftermath of the Chargers bolting San Diego for LA, and if the Raiders could possibly make San Diego a temporary home for 2019. Hamilton also talks about how the team leaving Oakland and its differences with the San Diego situation. We were joined in the studio by television personality and meteorologist Karla Huelga - a lifelong Raiders fan. Huelga tells us how watching games with her father as a kid helped create yet another lifer in #RaiderNation. American Flag Football League CEO Jeff Lewis joined us in the second hour to talk about his new league as they get ready for their big $1 million championship game in Houston. Lewis got the idea for the league by watching his kid's flag football game. The league enjoyed great growth this year and can be seen live on the NFL Network. We close the show with our own Sr. NFL Analyst Chris Reed who broked down and graded EVERY throw made by Raiders quarterback Derek Carr over the past two seasons. What did he learn? And why does he think Carr could be in MVP contention again this season.

As we count the days down to the start of Raiders traning camp, we'll talk about how some of the loons in Oakland are making things up again in regards to the stadium here in Las Vegas. Our summer book series is back with a two-part conversation with gifted writer and author Peter Richmond. Richmond's book "Badasses: The Legend of Snake, Foo, Dr. Death and John Madden's Raiders" chronicles the team's golden era of the 1970s. Considered by many to be the best football book ever written, "Badasses" gives us the stories right from the mouths of Raiders legends Ken Stabler, Phil Villapiano, Mike Ciani, and more. Richmond walks us through those years and also talks about how his opinion of the Raiders moving to Las Vegas has done a 180-degree turn. Also joining us was Los Angeles Daily News NFL columnist Vincent Bonsignore. Bonsignore wrote a brand new piece exploring the status of the team's move to Las Vegas talking to directly to owner Mark Davis. We start off our weekly CBS Sports Radio show for July 1, 2018 with a rundown of light Raiders news including owner Mark Davis' time in Las Vegas this week. He fed construction workers at the stadium site and even talked Golden Knights hockey with the media. Dr. Michael Alosco from the Boston University CTE Center joined us to discuss the disease and its causes. Alosco also elaborated on what researchers are doing to identify CTE in living patients and ways he and his team are looking for ways to make football as safe a game as possible. Alosco also discussed the best age of when someone should perhaps consider playing tackle football as brain injuries can occur faster in young players. The effects of CTE is just one of the multitude of issues the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund deals with on a daily basis for former NFL players. Executive director Shannon Jordan was our final guest this week talking about the issues former players and their families have to deal with. The organization fights to help those families and provide not only financial assistance but emotional support and connection as well.
