Softy and Dick are live from the Central Bar and Restaurant in Bellevue. We startoff today with a couple of polls. Softy wants to know where Hawks fans stand on the team after the first three games. Is there a chance this season turns around? Might we just miss the playoffs, and will we regret not utilizing Chris Carson more in the first two games? Dick hasn't watched a Mariners game in over a week, but they're out of it. There's nothing to play for. Is he a bad fan for not spending time watching M's baseball every night? Softy argues that almost all fanbases are fairweather fans to an extent, with very few exceptions, and any fanbase that's gone through what M's fans have wouldn't watch at this point either. Dick and Dave are in the locker room once again, today talking with Shaquill Griffin and Matt Lubick. Paramount Sports handicapper Lee Sterling shares his college football and NFL picks for this weekend.

Softy and Dick Fain are live from the VMAC in Renton as the new football week begins for the Seahawks. Larry Scott said this morning that Porter Gustin's hit on WSU's Gardner Minshew was very close, but it wasn't targeting. Did he even see the play? There's no way anyone can watch that play and come up with that conclusion. It's interesting how college football and the NFL seem to be diverging when it comes to penalties. It's not overly-surprising, but Earl Thomas didn't practice today, and Pete Carroll says this is a normal thing for him on Wednesdays. That's technically true for the last few weeks, but not over the long-term. What can Carroll really do in this situation though? Defensive line coach Clint Hurtt takes a deep look at his guys' play so far this season. He tells us what's working, and what isn't.

Softy and Dick continue live from the VMAC with today's Fact or Fiction pick, and it's not one Softy makes lightly. Despite his rooting interest, Softy says Oregon easily covers the 2.5 point spread and beats Cal. It's our second installment of Dick and Dave in the Locker Room. This time, Softy catches up with Husky QB Jake Browning on Montlake, while Dick talks with D.J. Fluker at the VMAC. Rick Neuheisel tries to make sense of the infamous Porter Gustin hit last weekend. What could possibly justify the non-call? Speaking of the Cougs, how are they looking so far this year? What are the biggest challenges the Dawgs face against BYU this weekend. The NFL has it's own penalty controversy, but in the pro league's case, they're calling too many..... way too many. Kevin Harlan has a few thoughts on that, and his weekly look around the league. Tiger Woods' win isn't getting nearly as much attention as it would have gotten if it were in the summer, but it's still a huge moment in golf. This could be the start of the comeback golf fans have been desperately waiting for for the better part of a decade. No one athlete has ever had a bigger impact on their sport, and Tiger's return could mean huge things for golf. The Mariners season is basically over, and Bill Krueger is already ready to look back through and figure out where things went wrong, and what needs to change before 2019.

The Huskies did something they haven't done much in the last couple of decades. They beat the Sun Devils! The defense looked absolutely solid, led by BBK. The secondary may be the best they've ever been, Hugh calls them the Legion of Tomb (as in tombstone). The offense looked better, especially the line, and Browning had a new poise in the pocket, but the criticism of him continues, and likely will until he's able to prove himself against a top tier team. This week the Dawgs face BYU, a big, strong, and older team that have been a bit of a surprise this season.

The Vikings were obliterated by the Bills last week unexpectedly. Will they be able to bounce back against the Rams. Dick believes they will cover. It's today's Fact or Fiction pick. Michael Robinson was on earlier today with Cliff and Puck, and he's adamant that after ET's latest comments, you can't re-sign him now. It's our first Fact or Fiction pick of the week and we're going with Pittsburgh +1.5. They'll probably end up winning outright. Softy says, in terms of college football, Alabama is a Tier 1 school, Clemson, Georgia, etc. are Tier II, and Washington is only Tier III, albeit the top of the tier. Joel Klatt believes the UW defense is of playoff caliber, but the offense is just "exceptionally average". Textimonials weigh in on what to do with Earl Thomas. Softy says if we're going to keep changing the rules of the game, let's just get rid of helmets so that guys will stop hitting as hard. Fans won't like it, but it's the next logically step.

More craziness happening with Earl Thomas as he reportedly missed practice today while dealing with a personal issue, and may not be available for Sunday's game. And who are they playing Sunday? Oh look, it's the Cowboys. Speculation has now spread with everyone assuming this smacks of a trade to Dallas. Softy isn't convinced that's the reason though. This is likely about Thomas making things difficult for the Hawks until they give him what he wants. There's a lot of chaos coming from the VMAC, and the play on the field isn't instilling a lot more confidence. If the Seahawks were a stock, would you be buying or selling right now?
